    TCM sounds really useful, and I'm considering the X2 and XPro. If I went with the X2, would I be able to look at the auto-set settings after firing off a shot in TTL, and then manually replicate that in Manual, bypassing TCM? Or does TTL not show you the information you need to do that.

    • @willsimpsonphoto
      @willsimpsonphoto  Год назад

      from what i've seen, in TTL mode it doesnt tell you the info to manually do it. You can set the exposure compensation, but until you push TCM you dont get the actual readings.

    • @willsimpsonphoto

      If I understand you correctly, yes. You set each off camera flash in a different group and control them via the transmitter or on camera flash. Then turn both groups on. You’re able to fire up to 5 groups at a time and adjust the power of each group. Here’s a video that should help:

    Normally one uses the controller with at least two or three groups, i.e. with different units at the same time, but TCM on XProII only allows you to adjust TCM for one unit at a time (if you chose 200j all the groups get that info , if one takes the trouble to do it with each flash with each shot adjusting with each one it becomes totally impractical and we will probably get values that are not too useful since the flashes affect the values of the others which leads me to wonder how correct are the results of the Pro1 model even with a button and no choice for flash model. Maybe the correct question is how does TTL work correctly with different flashes, if it is automatic and each flash sends the information, why in the XPro II and X3 now you have to inform the controller which flash model is being used in TCM, and that model remains for all groups apparently because if one changes groups and goes to TCM the flash that is assigned is the one from the previous group.

    • @marcelocampoamor4761
      @marcelocampoamor4761 2 месяца назад

      @@willsimpsonphoto I think I've found the answer to my own question. Apparently the flash assignment in TCM does not affect the TTL function which is automatic for each flash, but it does affect (in the XProII and X3) the way of converting to manual. Different flashes from different eras have different limitations of the minimum power fraction they can perform, there are some that can only do 1/128 others 1/256 and the newest and most powerful 1/512. If one mixes those flashes when converting to manual with the TCM function, those flashes that can only have a minimum illumination of 1/128 can affect the desired light radius by not being able to go to smaller values of 1/256 or 1/512, when choosing the flash unit in the TCM function it affects the minimum radius of all the flashes in order to maintain the proportionality in the illumination correctly when converting to manual. I don't have it 100% confirmed because I don't have a flash that can't do 1/256

    It seems that my V1 power of 1/256 (lowest) in manual mode is much brighter than when I shoot the same scene in TTL. ... Is this normal? Why would TTL produce less output than the lowest manual setting? .. I actually want the lower power result from the TTL i'm getting, but I wish it would happen in Manual so that I can keep the consistency of that. ...(I can get the manual 1/256 down by lowering my ISO, but by doing so, I lose some ambience of course)
