  • This video is a short quick look of the Koonya Pavilion by Room11 Video feature by thelocalproject.
    “Seen from afar, the pavilion reads as two parallel lines set against the gently undulating landscape. It is a defined architectural object that makes no pretensions to naturalness - but its every design gesture is imminently decipherable and logical, grounded in and given meaning by the experience it seeks to create. It does not take on the form of a glass pavilion simply to play with creating one of architecture’s most daring typologies, nor adopt minimalism as a purely aesthetic sensibility. The Glass House lays itself bare to the landscape because it is the most straightforward route to achieving an authentic, inimitable experience of place.”

    Yes! This is ALMOST what I want to build in Oaxaca, Mexico where my parents are from on a mountain side! Maybe not glass all the way around, but nearly what i want. Been looking around and watching different videos for inspiration, but I think I found a winner. I'm very minimalist, but i definitely know that I want floor to ceiling windows on at least one whole side. I'm first generation 43 yr old American and Veteran on a pension, no kids, never married, and only recently started looking at homes in the US, but the market is ridiculous overpriced at the moment. I've decided to just build a house in Oaxaca where my parents are from. Their town is in a beautiful valley, and the mountain sides are mostly empty. Thank you for sharing this video of this beautiful home.

      there is probably a central air conditioning system in the central core for cooling, and it appears to be positioned on a solar axis so that sunlight would come streaming through the glass in the cooler months, and be stopped short by the angle of the roof overhang in the warmer months. this a brilliant, and increasingly common way for architects to utilize design to create climate control inside homes.

    I dont understand how anyone would want to live like that. Like dont you care about privacy at home and actually feeling like you're somewhat sheltered while indoors. I also imagine it gets way too hot at summer. It can work as a sculpture decoration, but not as an actual home

    • @karateana7593
      @karateana7593 9 месяцев назад +3

      It's in the middle of nowhere, privacy from whom? All you have to do in summer is open up the doors, yr practically outside once you open it up. It can totally work as a home, its for all those who dont want to live in a boring white box.
