I did this today. Bought the belt kit from FCP as well as a crank seal guard on my 2014 F30 335i Just to let you all know. The most time consuming part was removing the bolts from the harmonic balancer as well as putting them back, since you’re basically doing it blind. Trying to torque each one also took a while since I kept losing track which bolt I torqued already. Also I had my car lifted since I was doing a trans fluid change with pan. I found removing and installing the bolts were easier from the bottom. Replacing the tensioner, bearing and belt wasn’t a problem. ** also since you’re in there, I highly recommend changing the plastic Mickey Mouse flange to aluminum as well.
I found those bolts challenging as well, but glad to hear you got it all done as well as a few other things. Thanks for sharing your insights and recommendations!
You deserve more subscribers dude. Your videos and truly professional and clear. I too do tech videos but I am too lazy to work on my videos 😂😂. I will be doing a crank shaft oil seal change and I now know that doing that job will not do any timing issues. I hope no need to disconnect the battery. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This catastrophe happened to me with my N52 engine. I'm so pissed off that BMW or my mechanics never warned me of this. I'm thinking of filing a 'class action lawsuit" against BMW for their faulty engine design, their negligence in failing to issue a recall or put out advisory notice, and for the damages it causes to thousands of BMW car owners, like myself. Any words of advice?
I'm actually unsure how that would go legally. I would think it would lean in BMWs favor because if it was that bad they would issue a recall and they could always site that the belt wasn't properly serviced. They also have the inner seal as an additional form of protection. That's looking at it for face value, but if you look at the situation with the n20 engine and timing chain you might have a chance. However, that fix only helped people with less than 75k (I think). Good luck
super video. Need to look at my M235 as well. How long did it take? I don't have your mileage (2016 with 45K km= 28K miles) but I'll keep this in mind as I get higher.
I see that you torqued down the harmonic balancer bolts from underneath the car. Did you remove the under tray to gain access? Was anything else removed
@@FritzRamos thank you for the quick response. Keep making more amazing videos, I really like your videos. This one and VRSF chargepipe/intercooler video are my top picks from this channel.
Thank you. As of right now I'm happy with the drop in filter. I might go for more preventative maintenance or suspension before considering an intake. What's the plan for yours?
@@FritzRamos it is, but mine now has a hole in it. It should last a while but will need to order a new one eventually. You tempted me too much now i'm upgrading swaybars and endlinks :(
Used a flat head screwdriver packed with rubber on both sides so it doesn't affect the engine block and squeezed in between from the left hand side. The shredded serpentine belt was causing the Jam!!!!! Thanks for the reply mate. Hats off for your excellent works, video recording, classification and detailing.
Thanks for these instructions. I attempted this but found it really difficult to loosen the bolts with so little room and got stuck trying to fit a torque wrench in to reinstall them. I made a quick video complementing yours on how I followed these instructions but with one change: I pushed the radiator fan assembly up about 3-4” to make room to fit a torque wrench from below. It made it really easy to access the bolts for reinstalling and removal. Hope this helps others. ruclips.net/video/PuPDT-mfUbU/видео.html
@@FritzRamos I do, just want to do some pro active work before anything goes wrong. I upgraded the charge pipe, boost pipe, intercooler, intake, intake inlet, and added an oil catch can. The car is tuned and I also did a axle back exhaust. Any recommendations to keep the engine as healthy as possible I know sometimes the timing chain is an issue. I have a 2015 428i n26

Thanks, Fritz. You confirmed what I’ve heard about replacing the s-belt at 50K miles. I replaced mine when I put my winter tires on last fall.
Nice! Glad it help out
Awesome job!

I think 7 and 8 are swapped for the order of torquing bolts on the harmonic balancer
Thanks dude! I’ll be doing this tomorrow in my E82.
Nice! How did it go?
Great video as always.
Thank you
I just found your channel and I am definitely subscribing. Thanks
Thank you for this! If you do this on an F30, let me know!
Will do. Which f30 engine do you have?
Hello! I'm watching from Japan.
It was very helpful :)

Very well made video
I must be doing something wrong. Having the hardest time getting the belt to fit, and its the same size and part# as the old.
Very nice 👍
Thank you 👍
its not a T10 you neeed a E10
Thanks for catching that

About 4 hours but that was with filming. So maybe 1.5 to 2 hours in real time
I see that you torqued down the harmonic balancer bolts from underneath the car. Did you remove the under tray to gain access? Was anything else removed
Does any other car manufacturer (other than BMW) have this catastrophic engine flaw?
Thanks, Fritz for the video. Quick question on @KiesMotorsport guard link you provided. I see it says preorder, does that mean it's not yet released?
No, it's in full production. Maybe they're sold out at the moment

Have you ever had any issues with that seal guard?
The dealer change my tensioner and still move a little is normal ?
Good write up, will have to do this. Will you get a Cold Air Intake or leave stock?

hey super late here but will this fit a 2015 m235i?
My harmonic balancer doesn't come out after removing the 8 T10 bolts
Try using a small port bar with a microfiber cloth on the end. Just be gentle

@@bimmerhacks No way! Was your belt completely shredded or was it from a previous belt?
@@FritzRamos from my previous one due to a oil filter gasket leak

Any suggestions on how to remove a stripped bolt from the harmonic balancer?
Did you figure this out?
this belt kit works for sure in the n55 2018 m2 f87 lci?
It should. YOu can always check FCP Euro's fitment guide to confirm

Right on! thanks for sharing that!
Will the tensioner have a seated position when re-tightening ?
Once you pull out your allen wrench and slowly release the pulley, it'll go back to its original position
Does this apply to n26/20?
The gurad does not apply to those engines but the belt interval does. Do you have a sulev model?

You don’t need a ridiculously expensive belt guard (150$😂🤡) any belt guard will do just fine
What other belt guards are there?
Can you respond to my message on Instagram please, got a question for ya!
malo industries has better fitment and is half the price...
Not bad for the price, but it does not have the inner grooves
