    Oli leaks and BMW's go hand in hand unfortunately, so this is something anyone with an N54, N55, or S55 is going to want to do. It's a whole lot cheaper than dropping 5K on a new motor! 👍

    Nice video, very informative and easy to follow!! Question though, why do people opt to get a new crank hub which, from what I understand, can cost a great deal more instead of going this route. Could a person have a crank hub failure even if they put this on their car? Sorry for all the questions, but am interested in an M2 Competition but have heard about crank hub failures on that engine so a little worried. I think those failures are due to over modded cars and quick downshifts I think?

    • @fthirty3
      @fthirty3  2 года назад +1

      Hey, glad you liked the video! This won't fix a crank hub failure for an S55 engine. The issue there is that because the hub is not Keyed and instead pressure fitted in place from the factory, it can spin. The fix in this video would be in addition to the crank hub fix.

    Does any other car manufacturer have this issue where the belt can get suck into the motor?

    • @rottenrobbie66
      @rottenrobbie66 Год назад +2

      In this engine it’s an issue due to design of the harmonic balancer.
      On most conventional engines the back side of the balancer is larger diameter than the front so when belts fail they feed off the front side.
      But on these engines it’s the opposite . The oily belt fails and gets fed into the crank seal side and destroys the seal and sometimes gets fed into the timing chain and causes engine failure . Chunks of belt and seal will also be in the oil pan and possibly clog the intake screen causing oil starvation and engine failure by metallic glitter contamination.

    Lots of great detail Sir, ty . I feel the cons of the bmw leaks...i feel its not the bmw Engineering or a problem with the metal parts,it is the suppliers gaskets companies ( probably mahle.AJUSA junk gaskets and the like...) it is of course, the gasket material itself... what i don't really understand is,, a human being can build a spaceship, which can travel to the moon and back,it don't seem logical that any car parts manufacture cannot make a Good Gasket Material that can last the full life of their BMW machines (or any machines).So BMW, why use"Mahle or Ajusa gaskets????? if that is the OEM gasket used on these specific vehicles. do not use that same brand of gasket on these vehicles anymore,(because you will still have the same issue wit the the same brand gasket)!honestly,why use them??? they are "junk" gasket material its that simple!....use another reputable gasket company's gasket material composite. I personally own a BMW n55, again it not the metal parts that is causing any problem with those vehicles,it the "gasket" material that is the whole issue. As to the accessory belt, yes,the "ill call ," after market protector ring"can and will save the engine from major damage but the "root" problem is the "junk" sealing gasket material is failing to meet high standards of testing and it exceeds nothing. Over the years the consumer, like you and me has already test driven and proven/ tested the BMW gasket material on these vehicles. its junk. plain and simple....im surprised that BMW Engineers never rectified this issue years ago because these leaky gaskets are giving BMW a bad rating as to leaks! ty

    • @fthirty3
