Ralph Carter as an adult…..is who we thought he was…✊🏽
??
Amen🙏🏿
Absolutely
Exactly!
Yessss
JJ is the ultimate uncle. They asked him one question and they got a 20-minute story.
U ain't lying 😂😂😂
Yes Indeed.
Yes😂😂😂😂😂
😂
He's making up for lost time.
Don’t ask JJ a question unless you have the time to listen to a very long answer.
@JustHadToKnow 😂😂😂😂 Exactly
JJ doesn't know how to say long story short😁 smh
Bless his ❤!
That he don’t answer
Good thing he didn’t go into his politics, he’s definitely on the right…
Ralph Carter missed his calling. Meaning, we should have been witnessing more of him over the years. Brilliant guy.
Maybe he didn't want that.
He’s very intelligent and well spoken. I’m really enjoying hearing him speak.
Brilliant.
Ralph got me speechless with his intellect. He truly is MICHAEL EVANS. He was made for that role.
Yes he were I agree 💯
Oh absolutely!!
No offense, but Ralph does not sound intelligent.
It's kinda disappointing.
@@Johnny-gm9wo He sounds a little country. Yep. But he's a gentleman of some age now, too. He's not super well- spoken, repeats certain pet phrases over and over. 😬
But he definitely is passionate about his culture. He seems to have a very good heart. And damn, he's almost like a computer recalling facts. His recall of full names, dates and the days of the week from decades ago is amazing.
I bet he has a photographic memory.
@@springboard1994
The fact that he was so serious about getting his High School diploma was just embarrassing.
He's clearly uneducated.
Seriously.
Shout out to John Amos and Esther Rolle for being real role models and standing up for their TV kids and authentic Black culture.
Yes The God's Honest Truth AMEN 🙏 ❤❤❤❤
@a.sam2976 Right On ✊🏿
Yeah He Forget John Amos Best Tv Daddy ✋️ Down

Very good interview.
Thank you Bernadette for clearing to the air showing that Esther Rolle was a positive advocate on the show.
I still watch reruns of Good Times till this day. The best black show in the 70's there was morals, values, self respect, self worth, togetherness, family unity, spirituality 👌🏾
Me every Saturday always a marathon on TV One!!
I agree. Daily morning METV 9a-10a
I never get tired of watching Good Times
Same. I’m a 47 year old brown girl and I grew up loving the show. I must say, it brings a smile to my face to hear that Ester Rolle was very much the Momma I always knew she was in real life. It’s beautiful to see how conscious she was and how much she stood with her “kids” in real life. Bless her ❤
As do I watch reruns all the time ❤️
Wow! JJ 76, Bernadette 70, Ralph 62... legendary and looking good!
If the show is 50 yrs old and she went on the show at 18 yrs then she's 68yrs

Thelma is a timeless beauty. Even the way she talks and her grace and cadence just stunning!

Love love love them! Beautiful people ❤️
Yes me too
I met Jimmy Walker (JJ) in the Philly airport. He sat next to me and we ended up talking for hours. Very nice and humble guy.
Thata what I heard about him
How many times did you ask him to say "dynamite"
For hours? U miss your plane or what?
i usually hear the Opposite from Men but maybe they caught him on the "wrong" day.
You must be white, because he wants nothing to do with Black people.
I met BerNadette Stanis some years ago at an African Festival at Washington Park in Chicago. It was a rainy Sunday night. The crowd was light and she was standing at a booth selling her book. She was by herself. My friends were acting funny about paying their respect so I walked up to her and we talked for a good amount of time. I will never forget that night. She is Black History. She is Black Excellence. ❤
I met BernNadette back when I was a teenager in GA, and I wholeheartedly agree that she is Black Excellence, Black History and Beautiful inside and out 👑
Me three🎉❤! I meet her in NOLA at the 2009 Essence Festival.
Yes, my sister met her at a festival in Detroit while selling her book. ❤️
I was working at the African Festival. Her ex-husband was the owner of Chicago Chicken and Waffle on King Dr
WOW! I also met her a few s years back in Rocky Mount NC at a southern soul festival in a booth selling her book. A buddy and I where walking around and I looked over and saw her, and automatically said Thelma . She heard me and started smiling and laughing, so I went to her booth and she was soooo nice and very friendly. And also gorgeous 😍
I’m glad Ralph mention the great Eric Monte.
Yet, he didn't mention John Amos 🤔

JJ, Bernadette, and Ralph are so intelligent. I like that, so refreshing. They are not acting ghetto for fame or to get attention. They express and tell their stories very well. I love this interview with them for what I call old school intelligence.
I would argue that James Evans is the greatest TV father ever.
You don't have to argue because you are correct. Greatest TV father of all time.
@@mitchwhite3139 I'll never forget what he told Mad Dog at that courthouse after his mother disowned him. He knew that kid didn't have no father and that not having one present really mattered.
Ain't no argument.....HE IS. America's dad to all young black boys and girls whether you grew up in the hood or not.
@@gordonwalden5961 When Mad Dog said " you wanna piece of me too?" and James said " No son".......you can tell James kinda felt sorry Mad Dog because his dad wasn't around and at the same time felt good that he was there for HIS kids.
All things considered, he was..He was what is missing in today’s men. Honest , hardworking and had a love for his family
This is ICONIC & Netflix should be ashamed with that animation cause it’s so outrageously offensive & stereotypical
I love the original good times. But can that show be perceived as offensive and stereotypical as well? Growing up I didn’t see it. But now when I look at episodes, I be like oh wow lol. And btw I haven’t seen the animated series yet! But I’ve been hearing a lot of people saying it isn’t good.
I second that. That animation is an awful mess
Yea.....It's bad.
That new Good Times garbage slipped its way in because we are so far from the standard (in speaking of black cultures standard) that we think something as offensive as that is, is something funny.
Why would they even remake this into a cartoon? I haven't seen it and won't. They keep showing us over and over again they can't think of anything new. Industry execs have become shallower and shallower with their laziness, drug use, and sex parties.
I'm telling you old school professional "celebrity" interviews hit different. Great dialect, poise, class, and intellectual artistic expressions. Love it!!
100%
Exactly 💯
yessss from a diff time & era.
So refreshing ❤
You hit the nail on the head.
This is LEGENDS to our black history and culture. Should be WAYYYY more views and clicks. 🎉
One of the most authentic interviews I’ve seen in a long time. No backstabbing, fighting or trying to steal the limelight from each other…just plain love & respect. I’m blown away by them all especially Ralph Carter. These are the positive guests that need to be featured on this show!!
Debbie Allen was the FIRST drug addict I had ever seen in my life. She played that role GOOD!
Yes she did!
I just finished watching that episode a few weeks ago. Yes, she played that roll to the hilt. She was itching and scratching, lol...
After 50 years, Ralph sounds like an old sage. Bernadett still looks so beautiful. JJ is still JJ
My sentiments exactly
She looks beautiful? She looks like she belongs in a coffin
Bernadette looks great 👍❤
Wilona said it perfectly about Ralph by calling him Gramps. Bernadette is still sweet looking. The Four Tops song had to make that song for her. And Jimmie is like thar long winded uncle. 😂
LOL
Ralph Carter is so educated and well read but he still has that Brownsville Brooklyn in him. Lol. He went from scholar to "bish, you ripped my shirt" real quick. Cracked me up.

Refreshingly relevant interview.
Truly wealthy surrounded by wealthy Spirits of folks sharing the best of the wisdom virtues in themselves.
He is a balanced, emotionally mature and has medicinally uplifting way of Living the Life that is infectious.
Jimmy Walker tells stories just like JJ did. EXAGGERATED. I see why James kept telling him “SHUT UP JJ!” 😂😂😂

Epic moment though!
He was exhausting
Esther Rolle didn't like Jimmy Walker. In her mind, she was the star, and Jimmy Walker became the star. It was not about the wife and husband raising their kids in the ghetto; it was all about J.J.
