@@barissahin6517 they were already in a Monarchy dummy, and its shown that he had solid support from all of the jarls. Cerys castrating the skelligers doesn't make her a good ruler
Skellige is about the only land where people generally don't give you shit for being a witcher, and you can actually take the lot of them at face value. They also often show unalloyed gratitude for the favors you do them, and they turn around and pay you back. Hell, during the final battle, the Empire fucked up trying to fight the Wild Hunt, and the Skelligers barged in to finish the job. Their entrance consists of _running over_ some Wild Hunt infantry about to grab Ciri. For that matter, the Skelligers are also the only people who take you seriously when you mention the Wild Hunt. So yeah, it's not hard to see why people like the Skelligers. They're harsh and violent, but you know where you stand with most of 'em and they actually _do_ shit instead of sitting aside like roadkill while you do all of the work.
Weird that if Hjalmar is king, he still comes to Kaer Morhen. You'd have thought whichever sibling isn't the ruler of Skellige would be the one to come, but it's Hjalmar either way.

Hey, do you have a video with the episode where Geralt returns to Skellige to recruit Crach and Hjalmar provided that Hjalmar is the king? Didn't find this version of the dialogue on RUclips. Everyone has the version with Cerys as queen.
@@Fenris2 Cerys says that she can't help you for some BS reason about helping his brother to rule or something, Hjalmar immediately says that he will sail to Kaer Morhen to help you fight the wild hunt as this will be the first time a Skelliger will fight this enemy plus he is the King and Crach tells you that he can't send the army because of the Nilfgaardian fleet moving on the islands but apologizes and he gives you some crappy sword. Try that haircut with the Black Vampire Armor set from the BAW DLC and you got yourself Geralt The Vampiric Witcher Looks slick af as well if I do say so myself
I did Hjalmar, I watched Cerys on RUclips videos, and, unless there is something I'm missing, I really find Hjalmar way more satisfying than the other two options, who seem intent on making Skellige something it is not. At the point Cerys decides to disband the military while Nilfgaard is still a thing that exists is the point I just can't take her seriously (like her own people)
@@TheBayzent Very short sighted view. If Skellige is to have any future, they need to change, they need someone like Cerys, because Skellige as a nation is very stagnant, they act like primitive savages while the rest of the world is advancing, evolving. As in real life, change is essential, otherwise you are doomed towither and die. Picture this, years in the future, Nilfgaard, the North and South has cannons and guns while Skelligers are running with stick and stones. They would get utterly destroyed and an entire culture would be wiped frome existence. In real life, the Norse/Vikings stopped raiding and became a part of the global society, advancing culturally as much as technologically. Secondly - strength is not defined by military might. Genghis Khan had largest military might of it's time...yet crumbled to dust due to a weak, struggling internal workings. Life is a constant state of evolution...that applies to us a s humans as well.
I like how the game tells you who will rule better just based on the outcome and SPOILERS Cerys reveals who was behind the plot while Hjalmar remains ignorant clearly making her most suited for the throne
Holgar's guttural scream when the other guy tells him his son is dead is just so heart-wrenchingly painful and realistic. Everybody reacts to grief differently of course, but even though I am not a parent (at least not yet) I would probably scream and cry too if my son/daughter died in front of me. That's got to be one of the most painful things to experience, imo, the loss of a child. The loss of a young child is especially painful, but even the loss of an adult son or daughter is probably excruciating. To quote Hawke's mother from Dragon Age 2, "18 years of loving and feeding and raising and... that was it." I know everybody thinks Leandra was a horrible mother and maybe she kinda is, but that line hit me hard the first time I heard it and it still sticks with me. It's so true. Like I said, I'm not a parent and I certainly don't know what it's really like to lose a child but I had a classmate that died in a traffic accident after we both graduated and to this day I cannot imagine the pain his parents must have suffered and likely still suffer. I just pray that it somehow eases.
Look he may not be the best when dealing with people who will plot against him but he is the best bro every no doubt about it however it's good I chose his sister she will be a better ruler
This honestly feels like a joke ending, put in by developers just to have another choice. It's very uncharacteristic of Witcher 3 Geralt to help Hjalmar, for even though he's honourbound, he's intelligent, observant and calculating as well. For such a Geralt, helping Cerys is the only obvious choice, for both she and Hjalmar ultimately want revenge, yet when he seeks to spill blood with reckless abandon, his sister aims at the heart of the conspiracy - the true villains and traitors. And even if you play a less honourable Geralt, he'd rather not get involved than help, too. No matter who you play as, no Geralt would help Hjalmar.
@@gyula47236 Hey, did you know that in Nuremberg trials the "I was just following orders" excuse was used by war criminals to defend the Holocaust? It's one of the reasons why in international court moral law stands above written law. If Geralt would take this "monster killing machine" thing to heart, he would reduce himself to a mindless grunt bound by a dumb idea that all monsters are enemies to humans and none of them deserve to live, completely throwing away any pretense of morality and intelligence, making him a person he hates the most and a massive hypocrite. While some witchers did that, that's just not Geralt. Not the one in the books, not the one in the games, not the one that makes sense as a character.
@@FiksIIanzO Nuremberg trials? WTF are u smoking? This is a cult of werebears making human sacrifices, not some intelligent drowner asking for a hotdog. There is no witcher who would choose to deal with some politician woman instead of them, maybe apart from Letho who is a greedy scum.
Making Svanrige king is the far better option of the three if you consider the future of Skellige, since he in the end unites the islands under one absolute rule, instead of fucking democracy like Cerys and Hjalmar rules with. Not saying Cerys and Hjalmar are bad, infact I chose Hjalmar in my first ever playthrough as his character was just more interesting than Cerys, not to mention he has the courage to do whatever it takes to achieve a goal for the greater good, a trait Cerys lacks. And yes Cerys also seems like the best choice too as you get to find out the truth about the whole tragic disaster in Kaer Trolde, but she, like Hjalmar rules the Isles in the old ways of the Skelligers, i.e one King/Queen who makes important decisitions every now and then, but then the Jarls just keep ruling over their own territory as they see fit, usually squabbling with other Jarls to gain more territory, power and influence. So yes, Svanrige being king is a bitter sweet result as Birna gets away with her actions, but it ultimately leads to a united Kingdom of The Skellige Isles making them a strong force to be reckoned with that neither the Northern realms nor Nilfgaard would probably have the strength required to make a successful invasion.
Noup. I chose Cerys because she wanted to find the responsible party and not just go out killing people without a care about who realy is behind this. ****Spoilers***** it was nice to see the justice served and get that bitch tied to a rock for a painful and slow death.
“I’d say it’s the opposite. I saw the ritual. Our Trial of the Grasses- pure pleasure by comparison.” DANG, unsettling thought. Grasses Trial looks painful.
I've always hesitated to use that haircut, cuz I never did like how long and loose the bangs were. But I'm not gunna lie, it looks pretty decent with The Feline armor. I guess a shorter cut kinda suits the Feline motif of speed and being light on your feet. I might try it. To be honest, It's actually one of the better hair styles for Geralt in this game, the other 2 being shaved sides with ponytail, and the default one. The others are just....meh. Wish we got more styles to choose, maybe shorter haircuts and maybe a buzz cut? I personally would have liked something similar to Olgierd's hair cut. Shaved sides like the ponytail one except short on top and slicked back.
J0K3R-GaM35 No the people eating the Mushrooms were the 3 weak ones and the bears were the 3 strong ones. Remember they said it? "We take them in groups of 6 but pick 3"
+Sir JmZ But the guys who appears after are the same ones that gets eaten by the bears, and you clearly see bears instead of Beserkers that looks slighty different. There actually three out of six, but the bodies of the others who died were scattered inside the village
I assumed it was that the bears more or less inherited the persons appearance, which is much scarier in that the bears are becoming you not the other way around
Fun fact: Scents often settle low to the ground, which is why dogs tend to lower their heads when following one. So when Geralt uses his Witcher senses, he should really be crawling on all fours.
Why would he if he has a superior sense of smell, even with the scent being strong on the floor Geralts sense of smell allows him to pick it up from great distances
DUMB comparisson, Geralt its not a dog. He get his senses over a mutagen taken from monsters. He has monster senses. i DONT see monster crawling to snif you.
He cameo in soul calibur and monster hunter universe, both japanese games, and enough to get influence... And for that he gets this otaku haircut, and now he call himself Dante of Rivia trained in Kawaii Morhen, but at least he doesn't have a giant sword on back.
Funny that. How after so many hours spent in witcher 3, I find there are still some quests i still haven't done yet. Shit always just found the proof that briana bran was behind it. Not this version. #teamcerys
I usually pick Cerys because I want to get access to that place of power, but Hjalmar made the most sense to become king. Not because he's any good at it, but because he gives the people what they want. I know in the epilogue Cerys focuses on economic concerns, but how does trading between isles help when so much of the Skelligan economy is built on piracy? "The sea provides" after all. Scandinavia got away from the Viking lifestyle when Christian missionaries replaced their old religions. What's the Witcher equivalent? The Church of the Eternal Fire comes to Skellige? And that's still trade with the continent, which is not what is said in the epilogue.
Hjalmar is a preety good fighter and he's preety honorable but cerys has what it takes to become a good queen but hey i still love that guy a preety good character
Hjalmar is so annoyingly impulsive. My first playthrough i chose his sister, im on my second and im trying to try out different outcomes but theres no way id choose this path.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I have a hard time not choosing Hjalmar as king, as I want Nillfgaard to be defeated more than almost anything, and as Hjalmar is the one who takes the fight to them I find it hard to resist bringing them directly into the war.
Late to the party but I think you forgot how after Cerys becomes queen, Hjalmar keeps taking longships out to war against Nilfgaard and always loses 💀 or how he got nearly his entire squad killed on the way to the Giant. My guy is a total bro but dumb as rocks, neither king nor general material.
Cerys, to me, remains the only good option and I can never bring myself to choose Hjalmar over her. Any ruler that proudly states her goals are to "listen, learn, and listen again" and puts her people above any need for glory, is a damn fine ruler and would do her country a world of good. Hjalmar is just too hotheaded and careless.
Here's a pop question, if Hjalmar become the king could Ceris help later in Kaer Morhen fight to defend against wild hunt? I finished this game about 8 or 9 times maybe and never choose Hjalmar as king tho...
Wisnu Zainesta nope Cerys doesn’t go regardless of who rules in skellige while hjalmar will go with you regardless. That’s the reason I love hjalmar and what I hold against Cerys
@@allyfazio9684 Cerys is right though. The queen leaving Skellige when it's in the middle of a civil war is just a bad idea. Hjalmar coming himself shows how loyal he is, but it also kinda proves that he's really not fit to be King in my mind. He's not a leader. He's a warrior.
For all of people that choose hjalmar because cerys won't go to kaer morhen, think about this, if geralt had saved foltest in the witcher 2, do you think geralt can just "hey foltest, I saved your ass back then, now let's go to kaer morhen and we're even". With the tension between nilfgaard and north kingdoms, do you think foltest will agree?
I picked Cerys, by accident at first but then I was glad I did. Hjalmar was too hot-tempered, too ready to start a fight, and refused to think beyond, "I have a weapon and I know how to use it!" I liked him and yes, he has a good heart, but a good leader needs to think before acting. He never found who was responsible for the berserker attack, which left the land wide open for more attacks and greater division. While Cerys may not have found the berserker lair, she did find the actual threat and not only ensured that justice was done, she saved the Skellige way of life, too. Being elected as the first female ruler certainly rocked the boat, but the jarls voted her in, and they had to admire the courage, determination, and ambition she showed to even enter the running. No regrets.

Corbyn Olivas I just really like revisiting the Witcher

First time I got to Skellige I thought: "Damn these people are dumb"
It was so weird playing this part of the game because my real name is Hjalmar, everytime Geralt said Hjalmar i was like "huh what?" xD

Yeah, that would be better. Remember that Folan is also Cerys's friend
When Hjalmar becomes king, he mostly relies on Cerys to help him rule. He's more like a puppet king, yeah he has the title, but Cerys rules either way.

While that bear stuff was AWESOME, and I really like Hjalmar, this just doesn't feel right in the long run. Granted I've never chosen this, but the Cerys path feels much better. The rest of the North gets a sad ending regardless, so at the very least, Skellige should get a happy one. Great characters make the choices tough, I swear. Got some Roche and Iorveth flashbacks when this part happened.
What's with all the hjalmar hate? He's a badass, when you ask queen Cerys to help you fight the hunt, she sends her brother. King hjalmar comes alone with no army. In my ending (spoilers) hjalmar continues to battle the redanians because they burn herbalists and non humans and are opressive. Cerys may be more logical and more peaceful, but Hjalmar is a man of action and super loyal to Geralt
+pearthicorn I do agree. Hjalmar is dumb as a fucking boot, but he is loyal as fuck. Even when he is king, he still finds time to sail to the continent and ride to Kaer Morhen to fight a bunch of skeletal motherfuckers. And he is there fighting at the final battle with the Wild Hunt. He is the man.
But still, i prefer siding with Cerys for the sake of destroying the original danger to the clan and seeing that bitch Birna tied to a rock and being let sirens eat her.
If i could make Hjalmar king and still find out who was behind the attacks, that'd be the shit.

I'd say Hjalmar has the cooler way of cleansing the clan's name. Cerys' however is infinitely more satisfying
I did Hjalmar, I watched Cerys on RUclips videos, and, unless there is something I'm missing, I really find Hjalmar way more satisfying than the other two options, who seem intent on making Skellige something it is not. At the point Cerys decides to disband the military while Nilfgaard is still a thing that exists is the point I just can't take her seriously (like her own people)
@@TheBayzent She doesn't disband the military, where did you get that idea`'??

Di General (Why do people always argue in my reply/comment section) because the hair is fucking gay that’s why
I wouldn't call it a joke ending but I generally agree ;]
Geralt is a monster hunter. You think he would rather deal with a conspiracy than eliminate a cult of werebears?

Hjalmar might be somewhat a suitable and STRONG leader for Skellige. But a nation like this won't last when the thing called "technology" rises.
hjlamar is the video game version of connor mcgregor
In my first play through Cerys was the obvious choice..

Fun fact: Scents often settle low to the ground, which is why dogs tend to lower their heads when following one. So when Geralt uses his Witcher senses, he should really be crawling on all fours.
Why would he if he has a superior sense of smell, even with the scent being strong on the floor Geralts sense of smell allows him to pick it up from great distances
captainhobo1234567 That isn't true. Dogs do that when the scent is from an animal close to the ground. If it smells cooking it lifts the head up.

I love this channel because I can see the alternatives without having to load gamesaves. Huge thank you.
That "calm down, calm down" always wants me to calm down
Geralt with this haircut tells me that he wants die
Cerys, to me, remains the only good option and I can never bring myself to choose Hjalmar over her. Any ruler that proudly states her goals are to "listen, learn, and listen again" and puts her people above any need for glory, is a damn fine ruler and would do her country a world of good. Hjalmar is just too hotheaded and careless.
Here's a pop question, if Hjalmar become the king could Ceris help later in Kaer Morhen fight to defend against wild hunt?
I finished this game about 8 or 9 times maybe and never choose Hjalmar as king tho...
huh... I think not? I'm not so sure anymore
The haircut... No.
Just no.
Why? :D I always play with this haircut! "Loose but not too long"

No regrets.
Yeah, Cerys is my preferred choice as well, I even wish there was a romance option :P But then perhaps we had to play as another character
