"What do you propose we play? Gwent?"
Yes.
+Garl Vinland his gonna cheat like hell if they played gwent together lol..
+lyhthegreat have 100 cards in this deck, 30 spys, garentee spy draw/medic draw/decoy draw, then proceed to draw infinite amount of cards and make you auto lose lol.
+Garl Vinland I thought the same but then i remembered that Gwent is a deck building game.He is a trickster so he is bound to have really powerfull cards.
Gordon Freeman My deck is unbeatable. bring it.
As long as I can get their Gwent Cards I'll be alright.
Some people disappointed because people expect a final boss battle.

*Lucifer's son. Antechrist. Children 's song ;)
+Al Pra (Astronometal) This is not lucifer this is a Tracassin "Rumpelstiltskin". Like one bad creature in classical faery tale. :D
+Yann Song No Gaunter O Dimm is evil incarnate,he is literally satan, translated in the slavic mythos as "Mephisto"
if any of you ever watched Supernatural , he's basically a crossroad demon
how he makes deals at crossroads , gives people their wishes in exchange of their souls after an agreed time and how he can't hurt those whom he made a deal with and the literal way of making the wishes i found many references to movies or other shows , the most famous is the flaming rose or something warriors when they quote Mad Max when saying witness me brothers or i live , i die , i live again
Yann Song interesting, too bad i have no clue about any European traditional fairy tale. But this representation of story by CDPR is just mind-blown man... Even better than the wild hunt it self, (i haven't finished B m W yet)
Anyone else have a mini heart attack when he suggested gwent?
I just thinked: everything except GWENT! Please, send me to find a feather in Novigrad but not this!
Ehhh not really, usually by that time I would have a pretty well developed Northern Realms or Nilfgaardian deck

WHAT gwent is the greatest thing in the game
to quote the dwarf banker "Geralt, yer cards are shite, where did you get 'em, the crapper?"
I came across a kid that loved ants. I remember him saying this during our conversation. "I want to be an ant for awhile just to play with them."
Gaunter meddling in human affairs and making stupid contracts seemed similar to this.
The worst thing about being immortal is being immortal. You will have lived through everything at one point so you need to keep yourself busy.
Good Joshua creepy perspective there. Good find.
Gaunter gives what you wish. Not what you want. If the kid wishes to be an ant gaunter would have made him blind, with strong jaws, small brain and only react to smells.
@@hodb3906 You missed the point. He's saying that the kid said he would like to be an ant just to play with them for a bit, due to the difference in size and power of ants and humans. He's saying that Gaunter might think similarly; he only takes a human form and abides by human logic because he wants to have fun with humans, even if he is an incomprehensible eldritch entity that is capable of so much more than any human magic-user could ever dream of doing. It shows that if Gaunter really wanted to, he could throw the world into chaos without batting an eye, the same way the kid could destroy an anthill in one kick. But he doesn't, simply because he doesn't feel like it.

Check the trailer for Gwent where Master Mirror appears, you might be onto something
You know who else is just as curious as O’dimm? The cat and dog. The dog pretty much told you how to defeat O’dimm at his own game by saying “Find him in the mirror that does not break” which is the waters reflection. But how did he possibly know that? And it was said there is ever only one person that ever beat O’dimm at his own game. The dog maybe?
Duck Bread The Dog and cat were demons
@@lunaro23 I think the game describes them as "visitants." Clearly Olgierd had managed to bind them somehow, like the Caretaker, so they are not on par with O'Dimm's power and influence, but they seem to adhere to similar rules. It's not outside the realm of possibility for them to know some of his secrets.
@@Visitormassacre I'm having New Vegas flashbacks. lol

10:37 For those interested, it's an odd mixture of Antillean Creole French, Georgian and Ossetian.
"Ouw se on coq e coq la se rwa an le pil fimie ay" is often translated as "you are primitive," it actually translates roughly to "you're a rooster, and atop a pile of his own shit, the rooster is king."
"Shen ggonia momige, ara sts’debi" is Georgian, which in Georgian script would be rendered შენ გგონია მომიგე, არა სცდები. It translates to "You think you've defeated me, no, you are wrong."
"Man amaran nai. Asauznan fala fashtama azdahznan" is Ossetian, rendered Мӕн амарӕн нӕй. Ацӕудзынӕн, фӕлӕ фӕстӕмӕ аздӕхдзынӕн. It translates to "I cannot die. I'm going now but I will be back."

Yay, Witcher 4 confirmed xD Gaunter O'Dimm is probably one of the most unnerving characters in TW3, since you never really know what he's up to, what he is, what he wants and if he's good or evil. At the wedding he was actually charming and helpful, but that smile he gives with that deadly calm... creepy.
+Corristo89 He'll be back, either in Witcher 4 or in "Blood and Wine" expansion pack. Never know.
+lshe97 basically becomes the daedric quest for witcherverse XD
+lshe97 Nah, Blood and Wine would be too soon. I think O'Dimm is one of those "things" that can't come into the world unless someone summons him. Which is probably how Olgierd met him. But I don't think he's a post-convergence creature either, since he's too old for that (the scholar in the College of Oxenfurt mentioned him having been around for basically eons) and the Convergence of Spheres took place "only" 1500 years ago.
I personally love games where you can spend hours talking about the lore xD
+Corristo89 dude you said it best! I loved the Wild Hunt and i found the commanders of the Hunt to be especially threatening, but they were threatening in a rather 'cool' way if you catch my drift. O'Dimm was straight up disturbing and struck fear at a very personal level. Idk how else to put it; he was just so immensely daunting that i felt like if he so much as turned too quickly, a city would be reduced to gravel. Also, he was involved in one of the most twisted love stories I've ever experienced, making him that much more terrifying.
That's what makes him so awesome. His charm. The way he can deceive you into thinking he's good. I thought he might be a twisted good guy at the start... oh how I was wrong. Lucifer is always said to be a liar that deceives you.

I was really surprised to hear Creole in Witcher 3 I wonder if others picked it up ^_^
Yann G. H.R. damn, thanks for sharing that!
To any of you wondering who exactly is O'Dimm. Well, my theory is that he is devil himself, or really specific metaphor of him. Why? Lemme explain. According to the polish legend, once upon a time, there was Pan Twardowski who signed a pact with the devil and was gained knowledge and some cool magic skills. However Twardowski was really wise and tried to cheat, so he added a paragraph on his pact. On the account of this, the devil could take his soul only, if Twardowski was in the Rome atm (but he didnt plan to go there, smart son of a bitch). So Twardowski became very famous and popular and even became bro of the king Zygmunt August and in the king's mansion, he summoned the ghost of king's dead wife with usage of his magic mirror (COINCIDENCE O'DIM?). Well, finally turned out that devil found Twardowski in a tavern called "rome" so he had full rights to just take his soul, but Twardowski escaped (well thats only one version of legend) and hid on a moon, where the devil couldn't find it and he hangs out up there to this day. Well, almost every kid here, in Poland know the legend, but treat it more as a fable. After watching HoS that completely changed the meaning.
So here we have tons of references and it's fucking amazing. No words for that. Great damn job
As a fan of myths and legends, I congratulate you for sharing this :-)
Thanks for sharing, feel like this DLC just upped thrice in value after reading this.
***** That's right. Goethe's Faust was the 1st version (as far as I know) of the devil we know from HoS.
I have a better theory on who he truly is, he's evil incarnate...literally, remember The Beast in Witcher 1, it wasn't made by magic, it was made by emotions, lust, greed, murder, it was terrorizing people because of the things they did, what if Gaunter O'Dimm is something similar to The Beast, what if he was made by other people's actions, their evil actions, also his nickname, Master Mirror, when you go to the mirror you see a reflection of yourself, since Gaunter calls himself that, he's basically a reflection of all people!
It's not your theory... It's literally Eastern European mythology and simple common sense mate. I from Poland, this very simple story to us we all have hear growing up
"I'm looking for a woman"
"As we all"
And it begins...
Definitely went with this ending. At first I found Odinn interesting and in a way cool. But the more I read and learned about him the more I became horrified. Mainly because at first I thought he was human. Turned out to be Satan. Two cool swords was a pretty sweet reward too.
O'Dimm or o'Dim.

Plot twist,Olgierd died because of wound infection on his way out XD
You know what, that is real possibility, after all it's only 13th century.
@@Zomboik They are further on the path at least in part. There medics are not all charlatans look at Shani. They really can heal alot of things. The universe is close to there industrial revoultion.
People back then knew how to treat a wound, otherwise there wouldn't be any scarred veterans around. I feel like people give medival people way too little credit when it comes to technology and knowlage.
Just realized something, a detail which puts Gaunter O'dimm to the top of my favorite villains lists.
See how he comes down walking in the air? He comes down from the "Moon!". I imagine Olgierd added the condition of walking on the moon thinking that is beyond even O'dimm's powers and that is exactly why O'dimm comes down walking from the moon. He's implying that if he didn't have to grant Olgierd's wishes via a proxy, he could easily take Olgierd to the moon. In a way, mocking Olgierd and his primitive mind which clearly failed to comprehend O'dimm's powers truly.
I'm starting to believe "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" , "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" are the three wishes of CDPR from Gaunter O'dimm because no human can make something so perfect. Amazing.
Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy Olgierd knew who he was dealing with. Keep in mind that the devil made him immortal. He also understood that the devil wouldn’t break the terms of their pact. He thought it was impossible for him to stand on the moon of his own free will.
Best game ever made. Developers are not greedy fucks either. I will always support them!
This is the ending I chose. Master Mirror had to go! He is the devil right? Not some lowly demon or monster.
That scene gave me chills when he told me "you don't want to know" when I asked him, and that look he gave me... Damn.

Amazing DLC . For once I felt hopeless against something within the Witcher universe. We only won against Gaunter since he's a being that must keep his word, otherwise he would erase Geralt from existence with a clap.
When I saw that Guanter was able to manipulate time in that innkeep scene, I knew that Geralt had no chance of defeating him cus no matter how strong Geralt is in combat, O'dimm could simply stop time and do whatever he wants to easily defeat Geralt. So I think being able to defeat Guanter by sovling a riddle is actually a better option than fight him directly. O'dimm is just such a powerful and scary villain in the game.
Doom guy is shedding a tear
After seeing Geralt beating the devil
10:38 O'Dimm just broke the 4th wall by speaking human languages instead of the ingame languages, nice
It’s Georgian if anyone is wondering
i've always imagined of olgierd went back to his estate. live there, attending to the garden. looking at his wife's painting.
When I first heard of the title, I thought Hearts of stone is a powerful artifact that is the ultimate goal of the story whether evil or not. It turns out it's Olgeird's personality lol. BTW amazing score and story writing. CPR knows how to make so called "Expansion pack". it felt like old school expansion pack rather than few more mission but felt like another game.
MrPathorn it was his wish. Notice that his chest an the veins coming out from his heart are grey? He must have wished something about never having to die or feel pain, and Odimm made sure he felt no emotional pain either, practically condemning Olgierd a relationship with iris to die
10:50 - "I am going now but I'll be back.."
*Meets him at White Orchard in New Game+*
Honestly, Olgierd should have said "the moon in the sky" before making the pact. Outsmart O'Dimm
Nope, then he'd just make sure they meet in a bar called "The moon in the Sky"
precise or bust.
"The one and only celestial body that is generally visible during our nights, unless hidden by its shadowy cycle or the clouds themselves, on that Moon's surface, we shall meet"
inb4 Gaunter invents planes or zeppelins and names one "Moon"..
Britannia O’Dimm will have Olgierd sent to a prison named “Contract,” then he’ll conveniently release him from there.
That ending is so perfect. There's so many emotions mixed up, happy for him, but also pitty.
This DLC probably the best mission in the game.
4:00 what do you propose we play? Gwent? Geralt: ...yes.
The riddle actually drove me mad it was very good + the realm is well designed great idea
O'Dimm was essentially the G-Man of the Witcher universe (the way he watches you from a distance, helps you help him). Only, instead of working for some shadowy organization, he's the Devil himself.
“What do you propose we play, Gwent?”
*Aren’t you a little confident demon boy?*
What really helped me was the advice of the dog (i think) of Iris, who told me to look for the unbreakable mirror, when i saw the clue of the water it all made sense, cuz i understood little about the riddle it self
His smile fresh as spring as towards him he draws you
His Tongue sharp and silvery, as he implores you
Your wishes he grants as he swears to adore you
Gold, silver, jewels he lays riches before you
Dues need be repaid and he will come for you
All to reclaim no smile to console you
He'll snare you in bonds eyes glowin' afire
To gore and torment you 'til the stars expire
I'm still playing this game and it's still awesome!
When he descended from the sky towards Olgierd and Geralt I got serious bloodborne flashbacks and was terrified at the prospect of fighting him like I fought the moon presence
I hope that the entirety of Hearts of Stone will be considered canon along with this ending, which would be a great opportunity for Witcher 4 having Gaunter as the main villain. Maybe let us save Geralt from him as we play Ciri. After all he says in he end that Geralt is filth and that they will meet again oneday... And in Blood and Wine someone says that a merchant of mirrors asked for Geralt. There's more that CDPR can do with Gaunter, I feel it, and he's a better villain than the Wild Hunt could ever dream to be.
***** Thry did but I think it's highly unlikely. The franchise is on the same level as Elder Scrolls now in terms of value. They would be stupid not to continue it.
+MioRaem I think it's supposed to be referencing blood and wine because there is a quest where you can lift a curse from an old woman. If you do decide to complete the quest that way, it ends with Geralt taking the woman to his vineyard to give her a place to stay and to give her food and as you explain what you learned about her curse to your butler you hear the theme for Hearts of stone in the background. The ironic thing is: Though the curse was cast so long ago, you just can't help but feel O'dimm silently watching you from the shadows; judging you for reversing his work once more. That's the creepy thing about mirrors: when a mirror is destroyed you can't see your reflection any more, parsay, your reflection can see you.
I think this creep O' Dimm is the only character besides Geralt to be a part of the main game and both the expansions (indirectly in B&W). Basically, he's everywhere!
Strawberry91 CDPR said this was the last Witcher game with Geralt as the protagonist. Maybe we'll see another Witcher who has to deal with Master Mirror at some point.
Maybe they should do a witcher 4 but like what Strawberry91 said, make it with new characters and stuff with Geralt as cameo or as an influencial character.Although the Saga may be finished, what these guys did with the depth of the story and every other elements is just not common nowadays.. We demand MORE of The Witcher universe!
Olgierd deserves to be saved. He is embodiment of men's struggle with the world. And whoever doesn't save him, doesn't understand it. I bet if this was a woman, everybody would be more than willing to come to her aid.
It doesn't matter if it was a man or woman, while I do agree most people tend to feel more emotional towards the fair sex, it doesn't matter when humans will always fight, struggle but always survives, with or without Olgeird's saving grace of a story. And if we talk practicality having a demon god as an ally would be a lot more beneficial than a rundown ex-thug.
@@Vert_GreenHeart Gaunter is nobody's ally. He just uses people for his own benefit and amusement.
@@johntheknight3062 Maybe but O'Dimm could've easily killed Geralt at any moment after their deal ended, because just shortly before, on the different ending O'Dimm threatens Geralt clearly to remember the last fool he interrupted him. O'Dimm isn't some crazed maniac psycho demon but a smart sentient and intelligent demon who abides by strict rules and codes.
@@Vert_GreenHeart Rules that he likes to twist anyway he likes. Seriously this is not somebody who can be anybody's ally. :D
@@Vert_GreenHeart He is clearly intelligent, and it's cause of that which makes his disregard for human life terrifying. He killed an innocent man with a spoon for annoying him, cursed Olenna and turned her into a Spotted Wight for shooing him away, and whistles as he plays with human skulls. Ally or not, everyone wins with him temporarily banished from the world.
I can understand olgierd. I loved someone too.
Gaunter O'Dimm. Tripped me the hell out when I did my second play through and really realized how much power he had. Especially when the peasant in the beginning of the game cried out in pain while grasping at his head. Such an outstanding villain.
Did anyone noticed that, when O'Dimm is defeated, his eyes are the same as those of Geralt ? A darker, more demonic version of our witcher's cat eyes...
Thibault Doucet geralt seems unimpressed by his cinema, i think there is more to the witcher that what is apparent.
Well... that was one amazing expansion, and it only costs $10! I believe it's as big as all of Dragon Age: Inquisition's DLC only it's 4 times cheaper, I can't recommend it enough! Thank you all for watching, some more videos are coming but we're almost done.
+Giannis k. yes
you think the other one will be good?
The problem with being owned by EA. you can't spend too much money and MUST make back lots of it.
CD Project Red are near independent and can do whatever they bloody want with their expensive Witcher fanfiction.
Also I suppose having a rich universe to work with that the staff obviously adore and simply adding stuff to it is much easier than making an entirely new one.
+Tommy Fitzpatrick no reason to think otherwise
+xLetalis true
Despite olgierd’s sins, it felt like it was the side effects from his pact with the devil. The Optional mission with Shani & Professor, enlightened me with an evil far more worse than Olgierd in the form of Mirror Master. Being a Witcher, I was obliged to choose lesser evil.
It always felt weird to me that Gaunter O'Dimm can create a huge storm to wreck the ship on which Geralt was imprisoned and freeze time, but he apparently cannot freeze and shatter the water in the fountain
He don’t cheat
He loves a fair game.
There has to be a way to win, otherwise he would be a cheat. At best he can waste your time, misdirect you, and confuse you.
That's why he creates a tons of mirror which he then shatters, so that you focus on that rather than searching for a source of reflection.
10:45 O'Dim speaks Georgian! He says: "You think you've won? No you're mistaken"
"You are primitive. You think you've defeated me but you are wrong. I can't be killed, I will be back."
Didn't he say that?
Hierkönnteeinnamestehen Yes, but the three sentences he speaks there are all from 3 different languages. That's how the 2nd one translates. The first one is "You're a rooster and on top of his dung pile a rooster is king." I think.
@hasan veysel erol God is Serb, mate!
Seems like the wine that Geralt drank after he had returned from the game of O'Dimm and blood shed while giving the sword is a foreshadowing for the next DLC
This is the best storytelling DLC I have ever played.
The Characters and the Story in this DLC are phenomenal.
What an utterly beautiful game. This is passion and dedication to your craft. As the sums of its parts - to me - this is the best video game ever released.
well said
There is a cave full of valuables in Master Mirror's world. If you take the money, Gaunter makes a funny remark🤣. Did you know?

+Al Adeeb yeah, a lower octave Joker.
Nathan Moore sounds exactly like out

*You are primitive. You think you defeated me but you are wrong. I cannot be killed. I will be back*
I really like the character design of O'dimm. Generic looking at the first sight but more you know him you'll know the horror underneath that mundane facade
geralt: how about a round of geralt.
Olgierd: Gwent? How about some football.
Wow, he speaks Georgian and Ossetian at 10:45.
"Shen ggonia monige, ara scdebi" - "You think you won? You are wrong"
And after that: "Мæн амæрæн нæй. Ацæудзынæн, фæлæ фæстæмæ аздæхдзынæн" - "I cannot die. I'll go away, but I will come back".
Looking back on the riddle, I think the answer is "your reflection". It wouldn't be a mirror because you can break it, but the only thing you can't hurt is what's on the other side of it.
Of course, the answer is "reflection".
Which is why O'Dimm tries to force you into chasing mirrors thinking that is the solution, so you waste more time.
Best ending story-wise. Gaunter's rewards are the best there is while there are better swords than Iris.
it looks good on my wall though
Mur Buttcheeks what do you mean Iris scales better? It goes up with your level? ;O
Red Mage928 well every sword after i met was weaker than this so it was good reward
O'Dimm has nothing I don't already have. And true, Iris may not be the best steel sword, since both the Blave and the Hen Gaidth are better, but the scaling is amazing and it's the best looking sword in the game.
Olgierd deserves every chance in the world to live life anew after all he’s been through. I don’t consider Olgierd that much of a morally compromised man like people like to think, especially in the world of the Witcher and as far as moral standards go in the medieval world.
Him making a pact with Satan also happened during the lowest point of his life (O’Dimm mentions Olgierd was living on the streets, wearing torn clothes and severely undernourished; no one in that state of life posesses the mental health fitting to make any life-impacting decisions, ever) so I would chalk the root of the entire disaster to O’Dimm. He was the bad one for exploiting Olgierd and his situation, knowing that Olgierd most likely won’t refuse his “help”.
The only thing I can fault Olgierd for is that he loves too deeply and fervently.
Missed the part where olgierd sacrificed his brother for riches and a wife? Missed the part where he killed his father in law? Missed his cruelty to his wife? Missed his curse of his enemy in the prince? Dude chose his fate no one forced him to it’s not black and white. Baron changed maybe we don’t know. But he also was only guilty as far as I know of fighting/abusing his wife and killing her lover. But in a way he was justified what justification exists for ofbierd or whatever
@@jasonarmstrong9656
>Missed the part where he killed his father in law? Missed his cruelty to his wife?
Missed the title of the DLC? You know, "Hearts of Stone"? All of this were indirectly caused by O'Dimm. He should hold absolutely no responsibility for this.
The only truly bad thing he did was sacrificing his brother for Iris, but then again he was in a desperate situation and was clearly not in the top mental nor physical health and made a fatal mistake, and you're going to fault him for being a human being? If anything, O'Dimm is a dick for taking advantage of him at his most vulnerable point and for demanding him to sacrifice one of the two most important people in his life.
>Dude chose his fate no one forced him to
He chose to sign a pact with O'Dimm but he didn't force upon himself all of the misfortunes leading up to that decision. Why did he wish for his fortune to be restored in the first place? Because Horst Borsodi decided to be a dick and acquired all of his debts and demanded him repay immediately. He wasn't able to, and then was evicted from his home and lost all his assets. Then Iris' family decided he was no longer a suitable spouse for her because he was poor.
The story about Olgierd isn't about a man motivated by greed and losing everything in the process. It's a man having everything he owns forcefully taken away from him *and then* merely wishing to gain back everything he once had, but was unfortunately screwed over by a powerful supernatural being. He merely wanted back the things that once were his, and that is... selfish or wrong, how? So at this point are you even going to say that any of this shitshow is even his choice to begin with? Fuck, he didn't even know O'Dimm was the Devil when he did the contract.
>it’s not black and white
No shit? And I never said he was? He's not a 100% good person (even before the pact), but against Evil Incarnate (which is, in concept, nothing but pure black), the story couldn't be more one-sided on the idea that he's the one you're supposed to side with. Especially when he didn't know what he was getting into.
>Missed his curse of his enemy in the prince?
He didn't even know the curse would work. But besides that, the Baron also killed his wife's lover and you decide to give him a pass and not Olgierd, why?
Hoile T I didn’t give baron a pass but I didn’t have an option to kill him. If he was willing to sacrifice his brother for riches then every other decision he made was not strictly because of odimm. I’m sorry I’m not giving anyone redemption after the curse and sacrificing his brother for riches. He met someone capable of anything and still took the deal, is it predatory yes does that absolve him of any wrongdoing absolutely not. He signed a pact trying to outsmart someone and chose his fate. Also just because he has a stone for a heart doesn’t mean he’s not responsible, he still made those decisions. Psychopaths and sociopaths lack empathy for reasons they sometimes can’t control doesn’t mean they aren’t responsible for their choices.
@Jason Armstrong
>I didn’t give baron a pass but I didn’t have an option to kill him.
There's the option to let him hang himself in case you didn't know. Also you said this "But in a way he was justified what justification exists for ofbierd or whatever" and I can't interpret that as anything other than you basically giving Baron a pass but not Olgierd.
>If he was willing to sacrifice his brother for riches then every other decision he made was not strictly because of odimm. I’m sorry I’m not giving anyone redemption after the curse and sacrificing his brother for riches.
Then you're not looking at the bigger picture and O'Dimm's motivation. He knows Olgierd only loves two in the world: Vlod and Iris, and his plan all along is to take everything Olgierd values away from him until he gets his soul and *that particular time* just so happened to be a great opportunity to take Vlod's life because 1. Olgierd's priority was getting Iris back, of course he's going to sacrifice Vlod and 2. Olgierd was facing the urgency to gain Iris back (which was something she also wanted) before it was too late; it was a hasty decision made under duress. The fact that O'Dimm demanded Olgierd to choose between those two at all was a dick move bc nothing's stopping him from *genuinely* giving a poor man some help, either financially or magically, especially when Olgierd's debt problem could be solved given some time.
And I don't know why a person letting someone die is such a big gripe to overcome for you. You, who's playing The Witcher where nobody is a saint and where everyone has done worse for less. Hell, take Geralt for example, he was called the Butcher of Blaviken for shielding one person (an asshole, some would even say) while sacrificing a bunch of men in the process. If it were Geralt who was playing this game, he would absolutely have no right to judge Olgierd for his decision.
>He met someone capable of anything and still took the deal, is it predatory yes does that absolve him of any wrongdoing absolutely not. He signed a pact trying to outsmart someone and chose his fate.
There are tons of powerful people in the Witcher world capable of many supernatural things, and the vast majority of them are just "normal" beings (human mages, elven mages.) Why is it Olgierd's fault for assuming that O'Dimm is just like every of them? Especially considering O'Dimm goes out of his way to cover up his true identity? The blind professor in the lirabry was the last person in the world to know he was Evil Incarnate and he was instantly killed by O'Dimm when he told Geralt about that.
>Also just because he has a stone for a heart doesn’t mean he’s not responsible, he still made those decisions. Psychopaths and sociopaths lack empathy for reasons they sometimes can’t control doesn’t mean they aren’t responsible for their choices.
Because psychopaths and sociopaths are fucking born that way while Olgierd was the monster that he came to be *because* of O'Dimm? Olgierd didn't even wish for a heart of stone, it's not even remotely close to the wording of his wish; that was entirely O'Dimm's decision to include it in there.
Basically all you're doing thus far is shifting the blame on the victim instead of the perpetrator. For shame, man.
Edit: yes, I get it. Technically it was *Olgierd’s* hands that committed those crimes, but nonetheless he had the decency to make up for them even when he’s under the HoS curse. He could have killed Iris to for all he cared, but instead he gave her a guardian and a pair of companions before he left. He could have let his memory for Vlod fade into obscurity but he still regularly visited his grave, drank and talked with him as if he was alive. He emotionally did not give one shit about them but intellectually he knew he should, and the fact that he acted based on the latter is still a commendable thing.
Hoile T I can’t let you say that. Geralt is the butcher of blaviken and killed those people not for stregobor. It was because he thought renfri and her bandits were going to slaughter the village. He chose to kill them bandits terrible people instead of letting them kill the whole village. I think you are missing my point. My point isn’t that olgierd is evil and deserves to die or that odimm is good and acting right. My point is odimm offered a terrible person something for a very specific thing and it should not be your responsibility to help him escape a pact he made. He sold his soul for riches he made that decision. You cannot protect everyone from their terrible decisions you are a Witcher that was trying to accomplish a contract and got dragged into this deal that he didn’t ask to be in so to me staying neutral is the choice to make. Just because someone is remorseful for their sins at that moment doesn’t mean they don’t face the consequences. My decisions in life is I choose whatever I want as long as it doesn’t directly harm others and I’ll accept any consequences that come from those choices. Olgierd is not a victim.... he is a partner in a deal he signed. The professor was not killed by odimm because he told Geralt about him, he was killed by stepping out of the circle. In this world it seems to be that anyone that learns of it suffers insane unfortunate circumstances that cause them to die rather than odimms direct force. You also are ignoring what happens when getting baron hung. You release an evil spirit that plagues the world and kills the village and gets Anna an innocent tortured. Final thing, here’s the choices let odimm take a soul that was a part of the contract that was made by both parties or interfere let the guy live for now and banish an evil for a temporary moment. So the only difference is letting one person live who before the deal was a terrible person.
I was able to get all Gwent cards, I was fully prepared to fight GOD with my deck 😂
How is this the best ending? You basically trapped Iris in that realm forever. She will never be at peace and will forever be sad and pretty much alone for all of eternity unless you take the flower from her, no?
what? you can take the rose and get this ending too
Kibou Wanderer yep
It’s a sad ending for Iris
No? As long as she's still lingering in this world Geralt could somehow teleport Olgierd to the painted world and they will see each other again. That's what I thought so I chose not to take the rose. I was surprised when I found out there was no epilogue to help them reunite actually.
Or she's left in a nightmare that never ends. There is no good ending it's a matter of opinion
2:11 "Kept you waiting, huh?"
While I absolutely loved Blood and Wine-what can I say? I'm a sucker for any homestead/settlement game aspect- Heart's of Stone was something truly special. In the beginning, I really thought Olgierd was my villain, and I loved him as the villain. But the more I learned about him, the more compassion I began to feel for him because he obviously wasn't the villain. He was just a terribly tortured soul who had made a huge mistake. Then, when O'Dimm comes to collect his soul, and I saw the way he was pleading for his life, I couldn't just stand by and let it happen. Truly a masterpiece of story telling, because in the beginning, I didn't give a hoot what happened to him. Now, I hope he found happiness, love, and a way to forgive himself. This story made me realize that, under the right circumstances, any of us could be Olgierd.
After all, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Just realised the reason Olgierd spends so long looking at the gash on his palm is that blood oaths are drawn in this way. He's spent his life plagued by pacts to a deceitful god, but here now he submits to one that is meaningful, offered by a witcher with no ill intent, and with only one commitment: do good by himself.
Or because he's not self-healing anymore, meaning he's truly free from O'Dimm's influence.
Fun fact: ODimm in Polish VO was voice acted by a guy who mainly gives voice for clumsy or evil characters in toons e.g. Plankton from Spongebob.
His name is Dariusz Odija :)
The reason why Gaunter had to give him THE challenge of finding his true reflection/form/name was because that was the only way he can grant Geralt's wish of freeing both souls. The demon played with his own life in this world to get the withcer's soul and olgierds. This was trully an epic bet.
"To all things and men I appertain, and yet by some am shunned and disdained"
Not sure about this phrase, but I guess you take care of your own appearances by looking at your own reflections, and people tend to be dissatisfied with their looks.
"Fondle and ogle me till you're insane, but no blow can harm me, cause me pain."
Being fluid, water can be manipulated. Hit the water all you want, it will eventually retain its shape. Since its non-sentient, it doesn't feel pain or anything at all. If I recall, reflections can sometimes cause insanity?
"Children delight in me, elders take fright, fair maids rejoice and spin."
Children play in the water, elders often dislike getting wet, fair maids like to see their reflections.
"Cry, and I weep, yawn, and I sleep, smile, and I too shall grin."
Water is reflective, your reflection will imitate any facial expressions.
Hopefully, I deciphered the meaning correctly. Some of the words I'm not too familiar with like appertain (to take care of?) and ogle (To look at?).
I thought "To all things and men I appertain" meant that he's useful for everyone or meant for everyone or something like that, yet some dislike and avoid using him ;]
You seem to have gotten the overall idea, but I think you're too hung up on the water part of it. True, that's how Geralt solves it, but the answer is just "reflection". Everyone has a reflection, though some people hate how they look. No matter how hard you try, you cannot harm your reflection. Young children love reflections because to a little kid they seem like magic. Pretty girls love looking at their own reflection. Elders are afraid of how old they look in their reflection. And of course, a reflection does everything that you do. Geralt used water to solve it because O'Dimm was breaking all the mirrors so that Geralt couldn't see his reflection. But O'Dimm couldn't shatter a pool of water, which allowed Geralt to see his reflection, thus finding the answer to the riddle. Hope that helps!
I don't know if you noticed but when Geralt ask about how Gaunther got Von Everec's blood was because he killed Vlodimir, to grant Olgierd the 3 wishes he had to kill the 2 persons he must love, Iris or Vlodimir and everyone know how that ended...
still one of the best single player game series to date.
10:50 he is speaking Ossetian, "I am immortal, I am leaving now but I will be back".
Seriosly ossetian Lol He speaks georgian
The best ending to me is Gaunter takes Olgierd souls just because I love Gaunter hahaha
My favorite armor to wear during this ending is the Master Bear Armor, with the tails of the surcoat fluttering about in the wind.
Same. I’m currently wearing the Mastercrafted set & about to get the Grandmaster set since my arrival in Toussaint. I’ll have to do a lot of exploring & do some Witcher contracts first.
Love how Gaunter O'Dimm is so beyond anything our minds can wrap our heads around, he just nerfs himself to death and abides to some arbitrary rules he made himself to amuse himself. If he wanted to he'd steal every soul but there would be no gratification in that. It's scary how he could just say fck the rules and fck you over anyway.
Gaunther O' Dimm, greatest Bad Ass character in The Witcher !!!
I got the actual rose instead of the painting. Same ending, but a very interesting turn in the quest.
"You can and must. This saber's been in my family for generations. Even when I'd lost all else, it remained at my side. Means a great deal to me."
*Sells in order to purchase gwent cards*
I like his evil laugh, it's not like a comic evil laugh, he's genuinely having fun.
"You are primitive. You think you've defeated me but you are wrong. I can't be killed, I will be back."
What a heartbreaking story that was. Well done.
Didn't knew witch 3 had David Beckham in it? What a pleasant surprise.
13:54 Seeing that run down stone statue really make this expansion comes full circle to back when we first met Olgierd. Really nice motif back there.
The Witcher is the best game I had ever seen the details and the choices u make changes the game's ending making it truly a beautiful masterpiece.
2 years since I finished the game, and o'Dim still creeps me the f out
