Some people disappointed because people expect a final boss battle.
Goddamn people, silver sword are meant to kill monsters, not Lucifer
*Lucifer's son. Antechrist. Children 's song ;)
+Al Pra (Astronometal) This is not lucifer this is a Tracassin "Rumpelstiltskin". Like one bad creature in classical faery tale. :D
+Yann Song No Gaunter O Dimm is evil incarnate,he is literally satan, translated in the slavic mythos as "Mephisto"
if any of you ever watched Supernatural , he's basically a crossroad demon
how he makes deals at crossroads , gives people their wishes in exchange of their souls after an agreed time and how he can't hurt those whom he made a deal with and the literal way of making the wishes i found many references to movies or other shows , the most famous is the flaming rose or something warriors when they quote Mad Max when saying witness me brothers or i live , i die , i live again
Yann Song interesting, too bad i have no clue about any European traditional fairy tale. But this representation of story by CDPR is just mind-blown man... Even better than the wild hunt it self, (i haven't finished B m W yet)

I just noticed, and really appreciate, that asking him to repeat his riddle doesn't just make the original dialogue repeat. It's a different recording, right down to the slightly exasperated tone of someone asked to repeat a long riddle. The detail in this game is staggering.
Whoa that's awesome
O'Dimm: "What do you propose we play, Gwent?"
Geralt nervously stuffing his deck back into his pocket: "Don't know..."
Playing against the devil? Hmmm...."Tenacious G, the Cards of Destiny."

O'Dimm: What'd you propose we play? Gwent?
Geralt: *Bet souls 1-------|------2

I came across a kid that loved ants. I remember him saying this during our conversation. "I want to be an ant for awhile just to play with them."
Gaunter meddling in human affairs and making stupid contracts seemed similar to this.
The worst thing about being immortal is being immortal. You will have lived through everything at one point so you need to keep yourself busy.
Good Joshua creepy perspective there. Good find.
Gaunter gives what you wish. Not what you want. If the kid wishes to be an ant gaunter would have made him blind, with strong jaws, small brain and only react to smells.
@@hodb3906 You missed the point. He's saying that the kid said he would like to be an ant just to play with them for a bit, due to the difference in size and power of ants and humans. He's saying that Gaunter might think similarly; he only takes a human form and abides by human logic because he wants to have fun with humans, even if he is an incomprehensible eldritch entity that is capable of so much more than any human magic-user could ever dream of doing. It shows that if Gaunter really wanted to, he could throw the world into chaos without batting an eye, the same way the kid could destroy an anthill in one kick. But he doesn't, simply because he doesn't feel like it.

Check the trailer for Gwent where Master Mirror appears, you might be onto something
There is no final boss battle because there's no chance anyone can defeat Gaunter O'Dimm in a direct fight. The only way to beat him is to outsmart him. This is why Witcher 3 is such an unique experience. GOTC - game of the century
Witcher 3 is a FANTASTIC game, and I know my opinion is in the minority, but I really don’t think it deserved GOTY 2015. There’s a lot of technical issues, and it runs into the same problems I feel almost all open world games do. I won’t go into a full essay about it, but while the game is incredible, it is hardly flawless. No game is.
@@TwiggyShei You didn't describe HOW it didn't deserve Game Of The Year. You're even saying how much you loved it. When you say no game is perfect, that invalidates your whole argument.
@@TwiggyShei It's not flawless, but it's still better than most open world games. Most notably it has interesting side quests and collectibles (Gwent cards) which are actually useful, when in other games they will give you two lines of dialogue or smear useless collectibles like shit on map.
Besides in 2015 there weren't that good games anyway, and the only strong contestant was Bloodborne.
@@TwiggyShei So what do you think deserved GOTY 2015 if not the Witcher 3 and why?
Zheng Wen Yu In my opinion Bloodborne was more deserving. Witcher 3 is a good game but a poor RPG. In my play through alone I experienced multiple game-breaking glitches that forced me to start my entire campaign over. Every single weapon uses the exact same moveset with no variation, and the only way to bypass that is to use your bare fists. I had tons of fun fistfighting monsters with Queen cast, but then they patched that feature out. It just felt restrictive. Hell, beating certain enemies REQUIRES level grinding. In the opening area, I ran into a wraith that over leveled me by a good bit. It was recommended that I not fight it, but I figured I’d try anyways. It was easy to fight, predictable enough, but he never died, even when his hp was at 1. The whole game just feels restrictive in a lot of ways. Bloodborne suffers NONE of those problems. That’s not to say that Witcher 3 didn’t have a great story and characters, but as a game it is a flawed masterpiece.

@@zura2263 Actually the reason Steelweapons are being portrait as useless against Monsters in the games is only a Mechanic. Normal weapons do just fine, silversword are just extremely powerful aganinst postconjunctional creatures. And Iris for a fact is an enchanted weapon thus suited just fine.
@@zura2263 We could see people doing damage just fine with their steel weapons against monsters. Examples being Baron's men when ambushed by Drowners en route to Crookback Bog, or Professor Von Gratz with his crossbow when he and us go to the morgue in Novigrad.
Another example hides in plain sight:
Our "normal" crossbow bolts are made outta steel. Yet they'd still deal damage toward the monsters.
But of course silver based weapons would deal more damage since silver reacts fiercely when in contact with monsters blood, If I'm not mistaken.
You know who else is just as curious as O’dimm? The cat and dog. The dog pretty much told you how to defeat O’dimm at his own game by saying “Find him in the mirror that does not break” which is the waters reflection. But how did he possibly know that? And it was said there is ever only one person that ever beat O’dimm at his own game. The dog maybe?
Duck Bread The Dog and cat were demons

10:37 For those interested, it's an odd mixture of Antillean Creole French, Georgian and Ossetian.
"Ouw se on coq e coq la se rwa an le pil fimie ay" is often translated as "you are primitive," it actually translates roughly to "you're a rooster, and atop a pile of his own shit, the rooster is king."
"Shen ggonia momige, ara sts’debi" is Georgian, which in Georgian script would be rendered შენ გგონია მომიგე, არა სცდები. It translates to "You think you've defeated me, no, you are wrong."
"Man amaran nai. Asauznan fala fashtama azdahznan" is Ossetian, rendered Мӕн амарӕн нӕй. Ацӕудзынӕн, фӕлӕ фӕстӕмӕ аздӕхдзынӕн. It translates to "I cannot die. I'm going now but I will be back."

I would love to see Olgierd fighting by my side later at Kaer Morhen!
John MacMillan nah, imagine if we had Master of mirrors on our side, we could've saved Vesmir
Punished Fernando If we had Regis we would defeat the wild Hunt in kaer morhen
Punished he wont do it though. Try finishing the expansion before finishing the actual game you can ask him about Ciri and he would say that he cant interfere with it, something like that.
chuyaxXX lmao I did finish it, and main story a week before I typed that comment, and I just mentioned saving Vesemir, I said nothing about Ciri,
chuyaxXX and he said he can't interfere with where Ciri is, that's why he gives you hints to the good ending, look up what he actually meant before replying
''Mirror took everything'' a nice way of saying ''I lost everything because of my poorly formulated wishes''
Master Mirror would've just twisted them in different ways even if he formulated them better.
The point of all the story about deals with the devil is that you shouldn't have dealt at all.
To the creature known by the capitals G.O.D., old as time immemorial, any wish would be poorly formulated and exploitable.
What the other commenters said. Not to mention it's not hard (usually) to infer what people mean by context and previous textual clues, and that is what we as humans do most of the time. We do not just use the face value of words (which, after all, can have multiple meanings). If face value was all language was, no one would be able to communicate properly most of the time with language as we know it. Gaunter is deliberately picking harmful interpretations of his victims' words. The suffering he causes is not anyone's fault but his, and if he truly does not believe that (he might believe it and just use the excuse he sells Geralt as the first scapegoat to justify his malevolent desires to humans), he needs to take a deep dive into a course in Linguistics.
To be *perfectly* fair, O'dimm would likely screw over all of us; as a wise man once said, "the best formulated wish is no wish at all." No matter what you wished for, he'd find a hole in it and take advantage. That's what he does: gives you what you *think* you want, but not what your heart truly desires. I wouldn't even know how to formulate a wish against him
Well, I think biunique words would be hard to twist.
I love how the Cat and the Dog foreshadowed this. "Look for the glass that doesn't break" Even though the riddle is quite easy, I do like how they sorta knew what would've happened, even if it was before Geralt even had any ideas about a wit battle. Also makes the theory that the cat and dog are companions of Gaunter nulled I guess?
yeah, I noticed that too. Pretty cool foreshadowing
They are demons, they know other demons
anyone know they said that from what scene ????
Tu Nguyen
When you complete the final task in the manor and take the rose from Iris and put her to rest, the demonic dog and cat gives Geralt an advice about O'dimm
Tbf the whole dlc had foreshadowing. During the romance scene with Shani she says "take me to the moon" meaning the reflection in the middle of the lake not the actual moon. Just like Gaunter told Olgierd that they'd finish their deal on the moon, he just didn't mean the actual moon ;)
Well... that was one amazing expansion, and it only costs $10! I believe it's as big as all of Dragon Age: Inquisition's DLC only it's 4 times cheaper, I can't recommend it enough! Thank you all for watching, some more videos are coming but we're almost done.
+Giannis k. yes
you think the other one will be good?
The problem with being owned by EA. you can't spend too much money and MUST make back lots of it.
CD Project Red are near independent and can do whatever they bloody want with their expensive Witcher fanfiction.
Also I suppose having a rich universe to work with that the staff obviously adore and simply adding stuff to it is much easier than making an entirely new one.
+Tommy Fitzpatrick no reason to think otherwise

No. Just no. Gwent is trash.
"Gwent music starts" Geralt is holding his deck in hand and throws intense look at O'Dim.
Olgier Von Everec is quite possibly my favorite side character ever. He's fantastically written, possibly the best written side character in the game, if not the series. He has an incredible story, and being able to hear all of its complexity and nuance is this relatively short DLC is amazing.
he is indeed
Olgier is my 3rd favourite side character in this game. 1st is still the Bloody Baron and 2nd is Vlodimir von Everec.
Notice too about Gaunter Odimms final epic entrance, from the stairway in the sky. This is actually his only true character entrance seen in its full scale. Everywhere else in the dlc, he suddenly appears out of nowhere like a flash. Here, he knows his identity is learned enough to put aside all games, and show a real side of him. A stairway from heaven concept is no mere accident...only I'm afraid this isn't heaven here.
The actual best ending is seeing Gaunter'O Dimm walking out, whistling to his theme, while juggling with his recently collected skull up and down.
A true madlad
Agree it was better. But I like the cinematic visuals at the end if you save olgierd. It's just Gerald standing in the sunset and the "hearts of stone logo" appears on the right.

Nah

@@andresfernandez985yep. Geralt helped the bloody fucking baron, Olgierd is no worse.
Shit, I just realized. Witchers are supposed to have “no emotions” due to the mutations, but at 12:00 Olgierd starts explaining what it’s like to live with a heart of Stone. Just goes to show it’s not true that Witchers aren’t truly emotionless like their world makes them to be. Geralt even goes as far as to ask him about his “taste and smell”. It’s almost like he’s trying to validate if HE himself has the heart of Stone due to his own mutations
Yeah, even in the books it becomes apparent that this isn't actually true
I always felt that it was a way to further demonize Witchers in general. People are afraid of them, and for good reason. But, the whole "no emotions" is somehow conveniently forgotten by those same people when they try to cheat a Witcher out of their pay and thus p*** off said Witcher. Case in point, the Witcher from the School of the Cat. He did the job, the village refused to pay him, and he snapped, until he saw the little girl. Sounds like a lot of emotions in play, to me.

Yay, Witcher 4 confirmed xD Gaunter O'Dimm is probably one of the most unnerving characters in TW3, since you never really know what he's up to, what he is, what he wants and if he's good or evil. At the wedding he was actually charming and helpful, but that smile he gives with that deadly calm... creepy.
+Corristo89 He'll be back, either in Witcher 4 or in "Blood and Wine" expansion pack. Never know.
+lshe97 basically becomes the daedric quest for witcherverse XD
+lshe97 Nah, Blood and Wine would be too soon. I think O'Dimm is one of those "things" that can't come into the world unless someone summons him. Which is probably how Olgierd met him. But I don't think he's a post-convergence creature either, since he's too old for that (the scholar in the College of Oxenfurt mentioned him having been around for basically eons) and the Convergence of Spheres took place "only" 1500 years ago.
I personally love games where you can spend hours talking about the lore xD
+Corristo89 dude you said it best! I loved the Wild Hunt and i found the commanders of the Hunt to be especially threatening, but they were threatening in a rather 'cool' way if you catch my drift. O'Dimm was straight up disturbing and struck fear at a very personal level. Idk how else to put it; he was just so immensely daunting that i felt like if he so much as turned too quickly, a city would be reduced to gravel. Also, he was involved in one of the most twisted love stories I've ever experienced, making him that much more terrifying.
That's what makes him so awesome. His charm. The way he can deceive you into thinking he's good. I thought he might be a twisted good guy at the start... oh how I was wrong. Lucifer is always said to be a liar that deceives you.
You know. Gaunter is delighted that Geralt won.
In a way, he could have freed them by killing both Olgierd and Geralt. but no.
Master Mirror in many respects is fair in his game so as long as you follow the rules and courtesies
Notice in some of his conversations Gaunter requires honesty. In a way Olgierd had an dishonest life while Geralt ( In the good ending) Is almost living an honest one.
Not relying on a demon or use shortcuts to get what he wants in life. Master Mirror is some sort of Karma demon that literally mirrors the karma of mortals.
Imo, I don’t think that O’dimm was delighted when Geralt won and he can’t kill Geralt and Olgierd because he can’t violate the rule of the game. In Witcher universe, especially in novels, there are some rules like destiny or law of suprise that none can break. Calanthe - Ciri’s grandma, queen of Cintra, tried to break law of suprise and disasters came to her and her country.
@@aqua_the_aqua True but in the game if the sand runs out in the mirror world. Gaunter just straights out kill Geralt for losing. Perhaps there is still a degree of free will that can be done in Destiny's game since gaunter can kill Geralt if he lost.
Super Universe that’s the gameplay, you lose, you die. You can’t expect the story of the game will go on if Geralt loses his soul. About O’dimm, he traveled to Geralt’s world by using an avatar (his true form is absolutely in another world), therefore, he was bound by rules. There are many “things” that have greater power than O’dimm in Witcher universe, like gods (Yennefer spoke to one god in the novel), maybe those beings created rules, or maybe the rules were created by the universe itself, but there’s one thing for sure : O’dimm isn’t powerful enough to break them. In the game, if I remember correctly, an old man taught Geralt that he had to outplay O’dimm to beat him ( clearly Geralt can’t travel into O’dimm world, even if he can, he still not powerful enough, so he had to use rules to beat O’dimm, like lawyers). If there is someone who can beat O’dimm without using rules, it could be Ciri, if she can master her power, but again, it’s just a theory.
OnyxEyes why should they make another expansion when this one was incredible? Besides, witcher universe has never metioned Real Devil before, it was an opportunity that Cd project would never miss. And about the gameplay, what I debated was the end of the final heart stone quest, it doesn’t have anything to do with the previous missions. If Geralt failed in the game against O’dimm, he must die, and the game must end, no other choices when you decide to fight against devil. You really expect O’dimm let you go so you can still play? If CD project write a novel about heart stone, then the story won’t be limited by the gameplay. That’s what I was talking about!
@@SuperUniverse lmao. They literally tell you in this game via books, memoirs, and the professor that the guy is evil incarnate himself and you find a way to idolize him anyway.

O'Dim, it's time to d-d-d-d-d-duel! Send him straight into the shadow realm! (called his home probably)
XD
At 10:43 when O'Dimm gets tricked, the first part of his answer is in creole from Guadeloupe: "ou sé on coq, é coq la sé on rwa enlè pil fimié ay" it's an expression that literally can be translated as: "you're just a rooster, and roosters are but kings of their own pile of manure"
I was really surprised to hear Creole in Witcher 3 I wonder if others picked it up ^_^
Yann G. H.R. damn, thanks for sharing that!
I always felt sorry for Olgierd but I never forgave the things he did on the behalf of the other characters he hurt.
I took the saddle.
Amazing DLC . For once I felt hopeless against something within the Witcher universe. We only won against Gaunter since he's a being that must keep his word, otherwise he would erase Geralt from existence with a clap.
Definitely went with this ending. At first I found Odinn interesting and in a way cool. But the more I read and learned about him the more I became horrified. Mainly because at first I thought he was human. Turned out to be Satan. Two cool swords was a pretty sweet reward too.
O'Dimm or o'Dim.
Hierkönnteeinnamestehen Still pretty sweet swords.
I know but you uhm write it wrong. Sorry
Hierkönnteeinnamestehen Yep. I wear my mistakes proudly. Let it fester there forever as a reminder of the curse, auto correct.

Oh, a true Man indeed.
To any of you wondering who exactly is O'Dimm. Well, my theory is that he is devil himself, or really specific metaphor of him. Why? Lemme explain. According to the polish legend, once upon a time, there was Pan Twardowski who signed a pact with the devil and was gained knowledge and some cool magic skills. However Twardowski was really wise and tried to cheat, so he added a paragraph on his pact. On the account of this, the devil could take his soul only, if Twardowski was in the Rome atm (but he didnt plan to go there, smart son of a bitch). So Twardowski became very famous and popular and even became bro of the king Zygmunt August and in the king's mansion, he summoned the ghost of king's dead wife with usage of his magic mirror (COINCIDENCE O'DIM?). Well, finally turned out that devil found Twardowski in a tavern called "rome" so he had full rights to just take his soul, but Twardowski escaped (well thats only one version of legend) and hid on a moon, where the devil couldn't find it and he hangs out up there to this day. Well, almost every kid here, in Poland know the legend, but treat it more as a fable. After watching HoS that completely changed the meaning.
So here we have tons of references and it's fucking amazing. No words for that. Great damn job
As a fan of myths and legends, I congratulate you for sharing this :-)
Thanks for sharing, feel like this DLC just upped thrice in value after reading this.
***** That's right. Goethe's Faust was the 1st version (as far as I know) of the devil we know from HoS.
I have a better theory on who he truly is, he's evil incarnate...literally, remember The Beast in Witcher 1, it wasn't made by magic, it was made by emotions, lust, greed, murder, it was terrorizing people because of the things they did, what if Gaunter O'Dimm is something similar to The Beast, what if he was made by other people's actions, their evil actions, also his nickname, Master Mirror, when you go to the mirror you see a reflection of yourself, since Gaunter calls himself that, he's basically a reflection of all people!
It's not your theory... It's literally Eastern European mythology and simple common sense mate. I from Poland, this very simple story to us we all have hear growing up
"I'm looking for a woman"
"As we all"
And it begins...
When I saw that Guanter was able to manipulate time in that innkeep scene, I knew that Geralt had no chance of defeating him cus no matter how strong Geralt is in combat, O'dimm could simply stop time and do whatever he wants to easily defeat Geralt. So I think being able to defeat Guanter by sovling a riddle is actually a better option than fight him directly. O'dimm is just such a powerful and scary villain in the game.
Just realized something, a detail which puts Gaunter O'dimm to the top of my favorite villains lists.
See how he comes down walking in the air? He comes down from the "Moon!". I imagine Olgierd added the condition of walking on the moon thinking that is beyond even O'dimm's powers and that is exactly why O'dimm comes down walking from the moon. He's implying that if he didn't have to grant Olgierd's wishes via a proxy, he could easily take Olgierd to the moon. In a way, mocking Olgierd and his primitive mind which clearly failed to comprehend O'dimm's powers truly.
I'm starting to believe "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" , "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine" are the three wishes of CDPR from Gaunter O'dimm because no human can make something so perfect. Amazing.
Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy Olgierd knew who he was dealing with. Keep in mind that the devil made him immortal. He also understood that the devil wouldn’t break the terms of their pact. He thought it was impossible for him to stand on the moon of his own free will.
Best game ever made. Developers are not greedy fucks either. I will always support them!
This is the ending I chose. Master Mirror had to go! He is the devil right? Not some lowly demon or monster.
That scene gave me chills when he told me "you don't want to know" when I asked him, and that look he gave me... Damn.

@@bobsandwich3431 Yikes, I know man. Hard to believe I posted this comment 5 years ago. Then Cyberpunk turned out to be such trash. Even the most basic of gameplay features where trash.
@@JJsiN84 I had so much respect for them after Witcher 3 and then they threw it all away
@@JJsiN84 "Such trash" is overexaggerating. When you overlook the promises its a solid RPG with great characters, gameplay, story, musics, atmosphere.
I installed the "Master Mirror Challenge Extender" mod and played through this part again. I must say it feels like a fuller experience since Geralt then has more time to explore around and get all the encounters and illusions that O'Dimm is trying to throw at him, without the stress of the timer. Much more enjoyable
yeah on the ps5 i just did the first run walking around checking everything, and when the timer died i just did the second run staight to the mirror
Plot twist,Olgierd died because of wound infection on his way out XD
You know what, that is real possibility, after all it's only 13th century.

When I first heard of the title, I thought Hearts of stone is a powerful artifact that is the ultimate goal of the story whether evil or not. It turns out it's Olgeird's personality lol. BTW amazing score and story writing. CPR knows how to make so called "Expansion pack". it felt like old school expansion pack rather than few more mission but felt like another game.
MrPathorn it was his wish. Notice that his chest an the veins coming out from his heart are grey? He must have wished something about never having to die or feel pain, and Odimm made sure he felt no emotional pain either, practically condemning Olgierd a relationship with iris to die

Imagine if O'Dimm could erase your save data..?
Then he'd TRULY be terrifying!
@@PeteTheGrouch like Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear game.
That ending is so perfect. There's so many emotions mixed up, happy for him, but also pitty.
This DLC probably the best mission in the game.
10:50 - "I am going now but I'll be back.."
*Meets him at White Orchard in New Game+*
Honestly, Olgierd should have said "the moon in the sky" before making the pact. Outsmart O'Dimm
Nope, then he'd just make sure they meet in a bar called "The moon in the Sky"
precise or bust.
"The one and only celestial body that is generally visible during our nights, unless hidden by its shadowy cycle or the clouds themselves, on that Moon's surface, we shall meet"
inb4 Gaunter invents planes or zeppelins and names one "Moon"..
Britannia O’Dimm will have Olgierd sent to a prison named “Contract,” then he’ll conveniently release him from there.
“What do you propose we play, Gwent?”
*Aren’t you a little confident demon boy?*
4:00 what do you propose we play? Gwent? Geralt: ...yes.
The riddle actually drove me mad it was very good + the realm is well designed great idea
O'Dimm was essentially the G-Man of the Witcher universe (the way he watches you from a distance, helps you help him). Only, instead of working for some shadowy organization, he's the Devil himself.
This is by far one of the best story wise game / DLC experience I've played in the recent years.
I like it because it offered a different perspective on completing objectives, rather than just through sheer hack n slash... IN a combat based game.
It also was about the longstanding idea of genies granting your wish, albeit in the most heinous manner.
And of course, all of the characters were outstanding in their own ways.
To top it all off, we got this amazing conclusion to our story... from outsmarting the devil himself, to the lesson that Olgierd has left us with.
Witcher 3, and Blood and Wine, were both good... but to me, Heart of Stone is peak gameplay and story experience.
His smile fresh as spring as towards him he draws you
His Tongue sharp and silvery, as he implores you
Your wishes he grants as he swears to adore you
Gold, silver, jewels he lays riches before you
Dues need be repaid and he will come for you
All to reclaim no smile to console you
He'll snare you in bonds eyes glowin' afire
To gore and torment you 'til the stars expire
I'm still playing this game and it's still awesome!
When he descended from the sky towards Olgierd and Geralt I got serious bloodborne flashbacks and was terrified at the prospect of fighting him like I fought the moon presence
What really helped me was the advice of the dog (i think) of Iris, who told me to look for the unbreakable mirror, when i saw the clue of the water it all made sense, cuz i understood little about the riddle it self
am I the only one who feels olgierd lukes like david Beckham
im here 'cause i didn't interfere, thought i'd get a spoon in my eye
Despite olgierd’s sins, it felt like it was the side effects from his pact with the devil. The Optional mission with Shani & Professor, enlightened me with an evil far more worse than Olgierd in the form of Mirror Master. Being a Witcher, I was obliged to choose lesser evil.
Gaunter O'Dimm. Tripped me the hell out when I did my second play through and really realized how much power he had. Especially when the peasant in the beginning of the game cried out in pain while grasping at his head. Such an outstanding villain.
Did anyone noticed that, when O'Dimm is defeated, his eyes are the same as those of Geralt ? A darker, more demonic version of our witcher's cat eyes...
Thibault Doucet geralt seems unimpressed by his cinema, i think there is more to the witcher that what is apparent.
I can understand olgierd. I loved someone too.
Was a kid when I first read Wilhelm Hauff's Heart of Stone fairy tale. Took me a while to remember it.
Seems like the wine that Geralt drank after he had returned from the game of O'Dimm and blood shed while giving the sword is a foreshadowing for the next DLC
Olgierd deserves to be saved. He is embodiment of men's struggle with the world. And whoever doesn't save him, doesn't understand it. I bet if this was a woman, everybody would be more than willing to come to her aid.
It doesn't matter if it was a man or woman, while I do agree most people tend to feel more emotional towards the fair sex, it doesn't matter when humans will always fight, struggle but always survives, with or without Olgeird's saving grace of a story. And if we talk practicality having a demon god as an ally would be a lot more beneficial than a rundown ex-thug.
@@Vert_GreenHeart Gaunter is nobody's ally. He just uses people for his own benefit and amusement.
@@johntheknight3062 Maybe but O'Dimm could've easily killed Geralt at any moment after their deal ended, because just shortly before, on the different ending O'Dimm threatens Geralt clearly to remember the last fool he interrupted him. O'Dimm isn't some crazed maniac psycho demon but a smart sentient and intelligent demon who abides by strict rules and codes.
@@Vert_GreenHeart Rules that he likes to twist anyway he likes. Seriously this is not somebody who can be anybody's ally. :D
@@Vert_GreenHeart He is clearly intelligent, and it's cause of that which makes his disregard for human life terrifying. He killed an innocent man with a spoon for annoying him, cursed Olenna and turned her into a Spotted Wight for shooing him away, and whistles as he plays with human skulls. Ally or not, everyone wins with him temporarily banished from the world.
When Olgierd feels "hot iron piercing his chest" After so many time, he actually feeled something, That's why I never pick the rose, by not doing that, we finally break his hearth of stone.
I really wanted to challenge master mirror and unseen elder in a gwent duel. I’ve faith on my northern realm deck.
It always felt weird to me that Gaunter O'Dimm can create a huge storm to wreck the ship on which Geralt was imprisoned and freeze time, but he apparently cannot freeze and shatter the water in the fountain
He don’t cheat
He loves a fair game.
There has to be a way to win, otherwise he would be a cheat. At best he can waste your time, misdirect you, and confuse you.
That's why he creates a tons of mirror which he then shatters, so that you focus on that rather than searching for a source of reflection.
10:45 O'Dim speaks Georgian! He says: "You think you've won? No you're mistaken"
"You are primitive. You think you've defeated me but you are wrong. I can't be killed, I will be back."
Didn't he say that?
Hierkönnteeinnamestehen Yes, but the three sentences he speaks there are all from 3 different languages. That's how the 2nd one translates. The first one is "You're a rooster and on top of his dung pile a rooster is king." I think.
@hasan veysel erol God is Serb, mate!
I really like the character design of O'dimm. Generic looking at the first sight but more you know him you'll know the horror underneath that mundane facade
This is the best storytelling DLC I have ever played.
The Characters and the Story in this DLC are phenomenal.
There is a cave full of valuables in Master Mirror's world. If you take the money, Gaunter makes a funny remark🤣. Did you know?
geralt: how about a round of geralt.
Olgierd: Gwent? How about some football.
Looking back on the riddle, I think the answer is "your reflection". It wouldn't be a mirror because you can break it, but the only thing you can't hurt is what's on the other side of it.
Of course, the answer is "reflection".
Which is why O'Dimm tries to force you into chasing mirrors thinking that is the solution, so you waste more time.
That thud though, when he tells him "what am I?" 5:51 , very cool, very cool.
I hope that the entirety of Hearts of Stone will be considered canon along with this ending, which would be a great opportunity for Witcher 4 having Gaunter as the main villain. Maybe let us save Geralt from him as we play Ciri. After all he says in he end that Geralt is filth and that they will meet again oneday... And in Blood and Wine someone says that a merchant of mirrors asked for Geralt. There's more that CDPR can do with Gaunter, I feel it, and he's a better villain than the Wild Hunt could ever dream to be.
***** Thry did but I think it's highly unlikely. The franchise is on the same level as Elder Scrolls now in terms of value. They would be stupid not to continue it.
+MioRaem I think it's supposed to be referencing blood and wine because there is a quest where you can lift a curse from an old woman. If you do decide to complete the quest that way, it ends with Geralt taking the woman to his vineyard to give her a place to stay and to give her food and as you explain what you learned about her curse to your butler you hear the theme for Hearts of stone in the background. The ironic thing is: Though the curse was cast so long ago, you just can't help but feel O'dimm silently watching you from the shadows; judging you for reversing his work once more. That's the creepy thing about mirrors: when a mirror is destroyed you can't see your reflection any more, parsay, your reflection can see you.
I think this creep O' Dimm is the only character besides Geralt to be a part of the main game and both the expansions (indirectly in B&W). Basically, he's everywhere!
Strawberry91 CDPR said this was the last Witcher game with Geralt as the protagonist. Maybe we'll see another Witcher who has to deal with Master Mirror at some point.
Maybe they should do a witcher 4 but like what Strawberry91 said, make it with new characters and stuff with Geralt as cameo or as an influencial character.Although the Saga may be finished, what these guys did with the depth of the story and every other elements is just not common nowadays.. We demand MORE of The Witcher universe!
I dunno, i kinda enjoyed the "olgierd's bullshit catches up with him and i mind my own business" ending more.
That's What the Geralt from the books would have choosen he is not one to risk his life for a bandi
ytaccno3 yeah the best ending is the one with the worst reward in game. You let him take Olgierd, then tell O'Dimm you want nothing. Otherwise, he might come back for your soul some day.
