I have wanted to learn how to model more complex stuff in blender and this tutorial really helped! It seemed so impossible, out of reach, and overwhelming. This tutorial showed me that while it is complex, it can be done and is less intimidating than I thought. You have earned a subscriber!
If this video hits 15k views or 500 likes, I'm making a remake of it with new techniques I have learned :) Update to all of you!!! I am currently editing the new articulated dragon tutorial. Sorry for all the waiting. I have been extremely busy with school, family, and friends, leaving me with little free time. The design will drop soon, then a few weeks before the video.
Good idea. One I can suggest is "bool tools" that let you set up items, apply the boolean, and delete the tool all in one step, or with adjustments you can see without applying them. Very much more handy than going thru the modifiers panel.
Thank you so much! I’m the owner @ProtoSpyre LLC we specialize in 3D printing! I’m more of a CAD user with Fusion 360 and Blender is completely new to me so this is exactly what we need for our business and I’m glad you could help me out. Very talented and impressive work man. 🎉
This is a fantastic tutorial on how to make articulated models. Very cool, thanks! I was kind of wondering why your solid cylinder went all the way up before I realized it was all print-in-place. Very neat.
@@P1lotzI would really love it if you do. I’m thinkin of starting an Etsy shop and I wanna design some articulated animals. There are also lots of people who are interested in designing their own creations. But don’t force urself if u don’t wanna make another video :)

@@Misterparker3688 the webshooter is finally working. Oh my gosh, it took so long, and in the end, it was only a small mistake that made it not work. I will soon give an update on the channel. Damn it is almost perfect timing for it to work, now when the new spiderman movie just came out, lol. I am going on vacation tho, so the video is gonna be delayed probably.
In your updated tutorial, could you show how to split up the model to print large? I am curious how people print the very large articulating dragons. Ones too large to print at one time.
I haven't tried it, but I'm sure there are tutorials on a similar subject here on RUclips. I mean, you can always make a system that can click the parts together, or cut a part in half, then glue it afterwards.
Found this tutorial and started making my own little flexi buddy however the second boolean modifier in the joints part doesn't seem to work. When i apply the boolean and make all the other joints appear, it adds one to each joint. How important is the boolean modifier here?
No, the ring should not need any support. I'm glad you like the video. I am currently working on another one, with updates such as movable legs and so.
Hey man so on thingverse it says that the body part cant be used commercially. Is that a mistake because I wanted to grab it and make my own dragon model and sell that
boolean doesnt seem to be working properly... I have it set to difference and fast, I select the body first and the spere or plane second and it doesnt cut anything, it actually seems to join the bodies? i have no idea
All right. Sometimes the boolean modifier doesn't want to live. What I usually do is add a new cube, scale it up, put the boolean modifier on it, and select intersect. I apply it, and I should work. if I don't, try to move the plane a little bit up, or scale up the sphere. Blender doesn't like using boolean or too small objects.
Look at the print in the preview and see if the joints touch any other joints before starting printing. If yes, change the distance between them in blender
Go to the modifier tap and add them. I recommend you to watch blender gurus doughnut tutorial. That will help you learn blender. My tutorial isn*t for beginners because there is a lot of stuff that I don't explain.

Hey man so on thingverse it says that the body part cant be used commercially. Is that a mistake because I wanted to grab it and make my own dragon model and sell that
I suppose you can, if you change the body part a bit, as in making details on it.
As long as you change some part of the body part it can be used as an independent model you can't just grab it and use it
Love ittttt
I’m completely new to blender so this is interesting to me for sure. I can’t seem to get the sphere to hollow out the first body part at 4:09..

Probably yes, but I haven't tried it.

Is there any way to import model of . max into blender without using maya
I don't know sorry. I guess if you can convert the file in max to a stl or obj file, then it is possible. Else Google it or find a youtube video.
thank you for this tutorial
I can't get the boolean effect to come out right any help?
Sometimes you need to either re-mesh your figure, or select a bugger space fir the boolean to work.
The array part is not working for me and i did move the object in edit mode. This is a bit fast to follow what steps are being done.
Sorry. I am trying to improve that part. Just have a lot going on right now. Hopefully, I can finish it before my holiday.
Printed this model but the parts don’t move, I changed a few settings and going to print it again
Look at the print in the preview and see if the joints touch any other joints before starting printing. If yes, change the distance between them in blender

please explain the printing process
