Funnily enough, this show is actually the literal opposite of The Boys. Garth Ennis, who made The Boys, *hates* superheroes: he thinks they're dumb, childish, and wouldn't be able to stand up to the grey morality and cynical way he views the real world. Robert Kirkman, who made Invincible, *LOVES* superheroes, and made Invincible specifically because he believed that putting Superheroes in a more realistic, cynical, and morally grey world had the potential to say something meaningful and send a strong message about the typical themes of heroism, protecting others, and responsibility. Obviously, The Boys show took a different route from the original comics (which... honestly aren't that good, and are just a giant hateboner for the mere concept of superheroes existing) and made it a critique of corporate greed, celebrity worship, and political corruption, using superheroes as a lens to make those issues far more literal, but the original comic is DEEPLY cynical and just... feels like it was made out of pure spite. Invincible, on the other hand, is clearly having the time of its life playing with wacky superpowers and silly tropes from start to finish, even as it takes a much darker, more realistic look at what having superpowered individuals would really look like.
First time here but yeah, this series is worth the investment. Personally never knew a single thing about it before it came out on Amazon and instantly became a top 3 superhero thing for me lol
The death of the Guardians was so one sided in the comics, i dont think Omniman took damage. 3 pages of the Guardians dying and not knowing what was going on because Omniman is that fast
Honestly, I never liked that part in the comics especially after seeing the show. Felt too fast, and it actually made the Guardians seem like the actual Guardians of the globe that are worthy or being there. Plus, the comics at the beginning did not feel well paced, but also, Robert Kirkman slowly improved as the wrote more

Which is why they fixed it (spoilers incoming). - - - - - - - The whole point is that the guardians are a threat, even if only to one viltrumite, and it's proven later in the comic that they were indeed a threat. And yes the point of the ambush was to easily kill them but having red rush counter that ambush allows to show us exactly why Nolan bothered killing them.
They fixed it near the end of the series, Mark basically regresses at the start of the series where he speedruns the best route basically saving more lives as well as alerting the guardians about omnimans betrayal, the guardians proceed to put on a competent fight.

My favorite part of the Mauler twins is that they're voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, who also does the voice of Principal Lewis on American Dad. It just amuses me with how much of a villain Lewis is, and now here's that same voice on actual villains!

I will say that the similarity it has with The Boys is the violence. Otherwise, it's a pretty traditional superhero story. You've got superheroes, supervillains, blah blah. The usual stuff. But the stakes are higher than the norm.

Although I get what you're saying because the writing meanders a bit in the comic after a while so it does seem like a standard story at some moments but it retains the deconstructive idea of the consequences of superpowers in "reality" that it shares with the Boys.

Viltrumite genetics are as strong as they are, their traits are so dominant that 50% non-viltrumite is almost non-existent. I've only watched the show with 'some' spoilers from the comics. I'm sure there are many more examples that I don't know about.
