Oooh I've had fun with this one ;) The Himley Hall estate sale catalogues-I believe that the J.E Pugh written on the front was actually T.E, Thomas Eustace Pugh. Lot 7 was the farm that his father was the tenant of from at least 1921 when the whole family are there on the census. On the 1939 register Thomas Eustace is still at the farm and his mum and dad(also Thomas) are more or less directly across the road in another. In 1952 the farm was up for sale again and T.E was still listed as the tenant. Thomas Eustace died in 1992 whilst still living on the farm leaving no will and a considerable estate. The books with Mervyn's name on are T.E's son's, he was actually Thomas Mervyn and died suddenly at the farm in 1965 aged just 30 years. T.E had one other son and two daughters who would be in their mid to late 80's now . In the 1980's T.E's Friesian cow (called Daisy) got stuck in mud up to her knees when she wandered into the stream on the farm... it took the fire brigade over 3 hours to get her out and she was none the worse for wear after her antics ;)
What you said at the beginning of this explore was GREAT, that's what is so fantastic about history, thinking about the people who lived there hundreds of years ago. I always say forget about treasure or gold ,it's the human touches that make history stunning !
Hi, Matt what if this house feels familiar because you saw Adam Mark explore this place at one time? I would LOVE one of those horse and carts, it takes me back to my childhood. I don't know who had one in their house, but it's very iconic. Another fantastic explore and Bear loving life, exploring with you! Thanks! x
You just know how to entertain us. All your quirkiness, your attention to the small and sometimes special things left behind, your loves for the royals, all of it makes my day.
I live near Himley Hall and as a Dudley council worker, we still do our training there in The Coach House. Beautiful place, grounds are open to public, lovely walks. 18th century buildings and they hold weddings and events. It comes under Staffordshire.
I'm in remission from cancer so I too don't want my kids to have to short my shiz when I'm gone! Tbf I'm only 55 but you never know when your number is up. I never in my wildest dreams thought I wld get breast cancer but that's exactly what happened. Everybody needs to live their best life, right here, right now, because as you've shown many times Matt, all that's left is a few weirdy things from a bygone era & a few photos if you're lucky...but where do they end up at the end of the day? Just gotta be present on this day & at this time, that's what matters 😀
I have just found this which might explain the AM /FM etc thingy :- AM and FM have become the default 'name' for the two main bands of broadcast radio. However, the terms these acronyms are for are Amplitude and Frequency Modulation. AM signals modulate the carrier wave based/anchored on the Amplitude or strength of the signal while FM does so on the frequency of the carrier. The MW (medium wave) frequency band is a category of frequencies between 531 and 1602 KHz. Higher frequencies are referred to as short wave and lower frequencies are long-wave. This is a direct reflection of the length of a cycle (of a sine wave of that frequency - as frequency rises, cycles are smaller/closer together). Prior to the development of AM, most radio broadcast occurred in the Medium Wave band… but once it was available, all broadcasting quickly went to using AM techniques still in that same band. Because much of the band was already structured and in use when the much higher quality FM method was developed, new allotments in higher frequencies were allocated. However, AM signals continue to be used in what was once the Medium Wave portion of the medium frequencies ie 500 to 1600 KHz. And over time AM and FM have been applied to naming the bands instead of their original use in describing the signal broadcast techniques.
I always definitely think of who the people were. What was their profession (probably farming) what did they wear, what were their daily routines, what were their conversations? Love it! I am a history buff.
After the Second World War, the property was sold to the National Coal Board for £45,000 in January 1947, only two hours before it was set to go on the auction block. The board planned to use as office space for 250 of its West Midlands staff.[4] Three months later, during its conversion for this new purpose, a fire broke out and gutted the South wing. The house was unoccupied when fire broke out, and all of Lord Dudley's art and furnishings had been removed three days prior.

Hi matt!! I was worried for you in the room that you when you heard the noise behind you! Did you not wonder why there was 6 inch nails put in the door facing from the room out towards to the corridor??? The other shape is bobbin wood. Youre doing a fantastic job even though i miss andy. The banter that you have between you is worth gold! xx
You might have been here with Andy before because to be honest many things look familiar like those dog figures, the burgundy sofas and the staircase leading upstairs. Even if you were here before it's interesting to see what's happened since you were there last!🥰❤

Whether you did it before or not Matt I thoroughly enjoyed this explore .
Claris Cliff is still very collectable. (Mind you, so is Minton!) The gong was to summon people for meals, so they didn't have to yell. And the weight (one of a pair) would have been from the grandfather clock. People who went on pilgrimages used to buy pewter badges to show where they'd been - scallop shells for Canterbury etc - plus they'd buy water from Lourdes to take home to cure sick people, and some places sold things like little bottles supposedly of the Virgin's milk and splinters of Christ's cross.
The Green Glassware at about 55:27 is Uranium Glass that Glows bright green under Ultraviolet (UV) light, like a Black Light or UV Flashlight/Torch. "In the vintage and antiques industry, uranium glass is highly sought after by collectors & is often considered a valuable and rare find." "Uranium glass is generally considered safe to handle but should not be used to hold food or drink because it can leach uranium into the contents. The radiation emitted by uranium glass is minimal and typically not harmful as long as it is not used for food or drink."

Your radio frequency question, SW is shortwave world radio. LW is long wave, am or mw is medium wave, FM you already know of. Next to Short wave being a long distance receiver, am also receives from far off in the distance but like shortwave, only at night can you hear far away stations. It has something to do with the sun interference. LW Long wave from what I understand is only used in Europe. Here in America it is non functional and can't receive any transmission.
