That viewer thing is a old Victorian era projector. You put pictures on a glass slide on it . Then you look through the viewer and it enlarges it.

18:18 It's a Stereoscope for viewing 3d photographs. Very popular in the Victorian era. It's not a projector.

    • @stevedallas4942
      @stevedallas4942 Год назад +6

Ummm... I was about to write that, but see others already have. Yes, it's a stereo-opticon. Probably from anywhere of the 1890s through WW 1. The image would be a crude 3D. It's the precursor to the View master toys of the 1950s - 1970s... And that is not a tea box. It's as tobacco box for a pipe smoker.

    I found this on Google
An upside-down horseshoe above a doorway is a common sight in a smithy. A superstitious blacksmith and apprentice believe that the luck from the horseshoe will flow toward him or her, their tools, and eventually to whatever project they are working on.
    Hope that helps.
Another great and funny video. Hi light to Sunday morning xx

It takes me bleedin' hours to watch a whole video of yours;) The box on the wall that was filled with letters and guessed at being for carrier bags- it's a spill box, as in spills to light gas lamps or fires we always had them at our old farmhouse and in the 1970's power cuts used to make them out of reeds. As for that grandfather clock... Thomas Richardson of Weaverham- there were a number of clockmakers (fathers and sons). Thomas (senior) died in 1778 and junior died in 1818. However Thomas junior always had jnr at the end of his name on the clocks. Maybe it was one of Thomas seniors? There are so many things I'd love to own in this video!!! Can you go back and dig a bit deeper ? ;) xx

You slide the picture closer and further along the stick while looking through the viewer. It was an early form of View-Master.

The viewer is Victorian. It’s called a Stereoscope. In the Victorian Era there would be two photos that are very similar side by side and you’d put the photo on it and it was basically suppose to give a type of 3d effect. It was early 3d. The type of photos were called Stereoview. Photo cards, daguerreotypes, glass negatives, and other types of photos were used to give illusion to a three dimensional effect.
The Stereoscope was first heard of in 1832 by an Englishman named Charles Wheatstone, and it was first presented in 1838. It wasn’t really popular until around the 1850’s to the early 20th century.
I collect Victorian and Edwardian photos and items and have done much research on these and even have some in my collection.

About the horseshoe. There are 2 beliefs about it. 1) have it like a U and the luck fall in or 2) havit the other way and luck grows in. But the main thing was that it was iron, and putting iron in doors and windows stopped Evil from coming in.

Hi Matt, I was also always told that a horse shoe should be the right way up but certain parts of the country and world put it open side down with the theory that bad luck doesn’t get caught. The thing at 18:36 is a stereo viewer, a piece of card would have 2 identical photos next to each other, when viewed through the glass end the brain converts it into one picture but would have the appearance of being 3D - it’s Victorian at 29:54 the wooden box is for candles 🕯️

The first organ is called a harmonium. It has pedals at the bottom that you pump to fill it with air like an organ. Hard work, my mum had one.

Horseshoes are a complex one and I doubt you'll get a straight answer for them, but either way is considered good for different reasons. Hanging like a 'U' is to collect luck, usually for the house and those living inside. While the otherway is to 'rain' luck on you as you walk out into the World, and also create a protection barrier down your door to stop evil from entering, as the devil can't sit inside it. I'm not a big believer myself but thought I'd share another view

Ok, that viewer is called a stereoscope and is from late 1800's (first made in 1861) - early 1900's. It's missing the cross beam piece that holds the picture in place. It's a really cool piece!!

the thing at 18:32 is a steroscope viewer. It is missing the clips that hold the special photograph cards that you would view in 3d. two pictures that are at slightly different angles. same as how your two eyes see things at slightly different angles. They are fun to look at. The cards were not with that viewer apparently.

I once went through a house like that. The original owners died. Each generation added more junk. It was sad. Me and my friend had to walk on items. It was overwhelming.

Matt/andy a few things : horseshoe facing down is because it's superstition that negative energy flows out of it, there for your basically saying to the devil 'your welcome to come play at this location'. For your guiness World records it's got to be something you each do, so andy could try on the most hats in 5mins, matt you could do something like most cocktail sausages eaten in 5minutes. Also for another explore CV8 3ER, apparently somewhere round there is a biggish old abandoned farm house from the 1940s with all the original things still inside 👍 oh also absolutely loved the video what an amazing explore plenty to see, but best of all the star of the show is bear 🐶 as everyone knows he is the true star and you both are just bears security/entourage.

The view master was first introduced at the New York World's Fair (1939-1940.) Made by Sawyer's Photo Services, the device showed stereoscopic three-dimensional pictures. Originally intended as an educational device for adults, the view master soon become a popular children's toy--
