Awww haha I feel the same! That's why I try to surround myself by people who love it even more than me, and read about running all the time! Thanks for watching
Loved this video. Started running last month to train for the Brighton 10K. A month ago I could only run 1.5 minutes, but today I just ran 20 minutes!! This video was so inspiring. I also love boxing and can relate to some of your story. Hugs from London 😊
I've run on and off from my childhood. I always knew long distances were my things. I ran my first 10k at age 7!!! started more seriously in 2001 running half marathons and marathons until 2007. 2008 - 2012 I limited myself to running half marathons. 2012-2019 almost quit... 2020 moved and the pandemic made me want to be in the countryside... I have access to mountains very nearby, so I ended up picking up my running "career" and started running the trails, first 100k in 2022... love it!
As someone who finds running such a mental (and physical!) challenge you are such an inspiration/motivational/grounding person to watch! I have two half marathons this month (including LLHM) and watching your videos always gets me pumped to do my training runs and remember how much I can enjoy my runs. Always learn so much from these videos, so thank you!!
This was so inspiring! I really want to get into running and get better at long distance, still very much a work in progress, but for the first time in my life I'm actually motivated to get better at running and it feels amazing.
I've been running since I was 12. After a massive injury when I was 19 I am just now getting back into it at almost 23. I love running definitly not great at it but its fun!
Ah sorry to hear about the injury, but thank goodness for muscle memory! You dont have to be good for it to be enjoyable 😊 good luck with the training!
That's so kind, thank you! Annoyingly it's such high quality everything takes so much longer to send/download/upload so I might have to find a half way house!
Just watching this now, but thank you so much for sharing this! Your entire story resonated with me so so much, as someone who also has IT syndrome and has had multiple injuries but loves running, it just hits home. I have similarly found my love for trail racing, and have the same aspirations as you to eventually run longer and longer distancing on the trails. I'm so happy for you that you're working through and overcoming the injuries to get better and better. This makes me hopeful that I'll be able to do the same!
Great running story Flora! Thanks for sharing. I didn’t find any joy in running until I was 23. (I’ll be 30 this year) My only experience of running in school was a XC race in high school. I only agreed to it so I could get out of class. 😆 I finished dead last! I started in late 2013 and found I took to it really quickly. The next year I ran my first half and full marathon. Even though I ran some decent times I didn’t really make it a big part of my life until 2018. Nowadays race and training plans are such an important part of my schedule. I love how it benefits me in so many areas from social life to physical and mental health. I certainly wouldn’t be who I am today without running! 🙂
I love that. No one really starts out 'good' but as long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters! And amazing how much you can improve just by going out for fun. Good luck with your training and upcoming races!
Waited for a while to see what you did to get rid off/alleviate/manage your ITB issues. Was pleased to hear it was changing your cadence and stride that helped a lot. I, too, used to run with a long stride on which I blame the Kenyans. (Only natural to imitate those that consistently cross the finish line first, right?) Numerous aches and pains (IT band included) until I finally “re-trained” myself to have a shorter stride/faster tempo. I’m curious, how are you and your IT bands getting along? Seeing as you are doing ultras now, is it safe to assume that they are a non-issue now? (Apologies if you’ve mentioned it in your more recent videos. I’m a subscriber, but I have yet to go through all of them.)😬
ITBs are all fine now! Occasionally seem a bit sore if I do loads of road downhills, but it goes away instantaneously once I do something different! Not an issue I think about now :)
That’s wonderful! The last marathon a ran (Very, very long time ago. Don’t ask.) was easily my best one, but what made that season particularly satisfying for me was being able to train injury free. Until that time I never thought that it was actually possible. Thank you for your videos. Keep them coming.
Me and my fiancé started running in lockdown just as something to do, but we quickly became hooked and have now entered ourselves into the Edinburgh half marathon in May. (Hopefully it goes ahead.) Glad I stumbled across your channel for some extra tips and tricks.
I loved this video! Great camera, set up and content. Love the all the running videos lately, I’ve been dealing with IT band syndrome for about 4 months now and haven’t been able to run hardly at all since it started, but it is super encouraging to hear you talk about getting through it. My goal is to run a marathon after I heal and you always inspire me to push myself and try things I never thought I could do! So thank you!
Trail running lights my competitive fire, after years of road races. (I'm not great, just overly competitive. ) I love all of your videos, but the running content really motivates me, thanks!
Who stops after one marathon? I always say I'm never doing it again but by the time I get home I'm planning the next. It's kinda lime having a baby. You always go back. Also any health professional should know better than to tell a runner not to run any more!
Thank you for sharing this! I have issues with my it band as well and finally have strengthened my glutes and core and it’s helped so much. I didn’t realize how “lose” my form was until I started strengthening but it’s always an ongoing process. Working on cadence currently. I always use your warm up routine with exercise bands you shared! Worth its weight in gold and makes such a difference! Thank you again and good luck in your endeavors!
Oh amazing! Glad you're finding something that works. It's such a good feeling when you work through an injury (but I'm always afraid itll come back...). Good luck with it!
I'm doing the london landmarks half too! And I'm doing London marathon. Never been a runner and this is a huge challenge, especially when I've been out with a chest inflection. That's how I found your videos for inspiration, and really enjoying them.
Fingers cross Flora Hope you will enjoy all planned running events. I am running for three years and I bacame running addicted 😆 So I understand your enthusiasm.
Hi Flora, I would love it if you could do a video on how you are training for your races. I would be interested in how many times a week you are running, the different types of runs, how many miles you are running a week and how you will increase it for training for the half then the marathon and finally the ultra! I would love to do longer races like these (I have done a few Halfs but no more) so it would be good to learn what your training is like for these further distances. 💜 I love how you are making running cool and inspiring me to do more running too!
Hey! That's what all my vlogs are on! Since I'm in training atm they're all about my training. As I mentioned in some of my previous vlogs I wont be sharing my exact training plan (since its specific to me) but hopefully can share some insights and advice along the way. You can also follow me on strava at ff flora where I share a lot of my runs and see how often I am training :) xx
Hi, it’s great to hear your running journey. I’d love to see a video on the training and treatment you did to fix the IT band syndrome as I have the exact same thing and have no idea how to sort it. It’s so frustrating as coming from mountain biking I have a good fitness base, I feel I could run for much longer and more quickly if only my bloody knees would let me! Any videos of advice would be appreciated, cheers!
I totally get this - I find that being fitter is almost a hindrance because you feel like you can push further/faster! I have a vlog from april last year I think called road back to running that has some of this info in from my physio! :)
Nice story Flora, it's hard to tell your running story quickly hey! My video lasted ages and I could have talked even longer. I started running to impress girls at school, haha, I have no idea why I thought that would work.
Happy I stumbled upon your channel - I can relate! I've been boxing and running consistently for around 4 years now, and have wanted to become more serious in running for a while. Since Covid, the boxing gym has been shut down so I have amped up the running outside but am also now struggling because of my IT band... most frustrating injury!
My dad did the race to the stones, race to the kings, race to the tower last year! So if they are on this year I'll see you there (I'll be supporting haha) x
Always love your videos 🤗 I ran home from work yesterday (10k) instead of getting the train as it actually takes the same amount of time door to door and now I kind of want to sign up to a half marathon?! Is running this addictive lol?
Hahaha that's epic!! And yeah haha, you'll be an addict in no time 😅 it's crazy how much ground you can cover quickly, esp when competing with slow public transport!
Always inspiring - just done my 6th Parkrun (at 5 diferent venues!!!!) since NYD having previously HATED running!!!! #fitat50 Really enjoy your Parkrun videos
Great video and well done for overcoming the injuries. Im curious, you say "i was asked to do xxx race" a lot in this video, is that friends asking you to do them because you seem to run them a lot alone?
Hey Flora, how has your weekly mileage and recovery been going Flora? Find it difficult to implement good recovery strategies. You have any ideas/tips? Love the vid! x
I've actually just dropped my weekly mileage and increased intensity, so it's been wonderful! :) Recovery tends to involve a lot of food and inordinate amounts of sleep. Took me a while to get the right balance though!
hey! I've started running a lot during lockdown and now I run a few times a week. The shoes I have are just cheap trainers I've had for ages - what would you recommend in terms of running shoes? I run a mixture of on and off road but I don't wanna spend loads. Do you have anything in particular I should look for?
definitely buy new shoes.make sure theyre cousioned as it will help you feel more comfortable when running which will make it feel esier, meaning you can go further with less effort. DEFINITELY GET NEW SHOES. I got new shoes recently after waearing old trainers and it made a huge difference. invest a lot of money in them so theyll be go and last long
Hey! I did a vlog called 'road back to running' that is a chat with my physio and does into this! Also in my recent 'sprints' vlog my coach talks a little about some technique too :)
Running is so addictive!! (In a good way) When you do distances further than you've done before is one of the best feeling ever!!
Totally agree! 🙌🏼
Watching people who love running talk about running makes me a) happy and b) want to do more running 💓
Awww haha I feel the same! That's why I try to surround myself by people who love it even more than me, and read about running all the time! Thanks for watching

Just started running myself 2 and a half months ago, devoured all your vlogs they really motivate me x
That makes me so happy, thank you!!
This was so inspiring! I really want to get into running and get better at long distance, still very much a work in progress, but for the first time in my life I'm actually motivated to get better at running and it feels amazing.
I once did the long jump in school at sports day and never actually made the sand, so that was good!
Hahahahaha love that 😂
slightly less beginner = marathon runner? (love you haha)
Love watching your videos. You've really inspired me to run again. Thank you ❤️
I've been running since I was 12. After a massive injury when I was 19 I am just now getting back into it at almost 23. I love running definitly not great at it but its fun!

Definitely liking the new camera! It gives everything a crisp, professional finish.

Great running story Flora! Thanks for sharing.

@@FloraBeverley Thank you!! ☺️
How'd it go?
Its amazing how far you've come in 18 months - so inspiring! Looking forward to seeing how you get on this year!
Thank you so much, I'm excited to see what's to come! 😊

Trail running lights my competitive fire, after years of road races. (I'm not great, just overly competitive. ) I love all of your videos, but the running content really motivates me, thanks!
Haha I'm.the same, minus the road races! I just hate running on boring routes 🙈 thank you so much!!
New camera’s good. Vlog’s interesting - thanks for sharing your insight and journey. Best of luck with your training!
Awesome thank you!
Who stops after one marathon? I always say I'm never doing it again but by the time I get home I'm planning the next. It's kinda lime having a baby. You always go back. Also any health professional should know better than to tell a runner not to run any more!
Hahaha yes it is like having a baby 😂 people forget the pain and just remember the fun!

Great video and well done for overcoming the injuries. Im curious, you say "i was asked to do xxx race" a lot in this video, is that friends asking you to do them because you seem to run them a lot alone?
Watching this in May 2020 and very sad at the end of this hearing about all the runs you had planned 💔
Edit- I also had some runs cancelled 😢
love hearing your story
Please could you tell me what you did to get strong after your injury. I think I’m trying to get back to fast. Love your channel

Flora Beverley perfect, thanks!
This is so helpful thank you 😊
How inspiring! Thanks for sharing
Hi Flora, how do you find out about all the races that are on?
Usually friends or Instagram tbh! I follow a lot of runners so make note of fun sounding races. Most of them are series so you get a few in a year!
You are so fast!
U on Strava
didn't watch, but the title is brilliant
where are you from
Big kisses 🥰 from France 🇫🇷
What did you study at uni? Do most unis have athletics or running clubs/societies?
