    Hey Greg, nice real life experience, I have only charged my EV6 at home from solar since new, I've had it 5 months and the DC fast charge bung has never been removed. Great video and a big hello 👏 to your little helper ! 🤠😎

    MG4 will charge at Tesla Superchargers no problem. Tried at Rochedale this afternoon, was only there for about 15mins but hit a sustained 87kw charge rate. Not remotely upset about that at all😊

    According to gen 2 ZS EV owners in the UK, there are software updates to attend to this, as well as some issues with V2L. Possibily unlikely on the mk1, but worth checking.
    Personally I have no need of the Tesla 'walled garden' (& verging on unethical in these times), but also the jacked price for sure. When a number of Tesla chargers were first made available for other EVs as a pilot some months ago in NSW, the result within a week was some other networks like Evvie raising their prices. Finally, many of us dont need to pay yet more gouging prices for rapid chargers & where the car itself can only do max. 75Kw. Hence the 50-75kw versions are just fine in terms of accessibility and price. More of those thanks.

    My 2023 plated Gen 2 MG ZS EV (Long Range Version) worked on this Tesla charger from the video. Hopefully they sort out the software issue and get the Gen 1's working soon for you.

    Hi thanks for trying this site out, My byd atto 3 also failed to connect to a Tesla super charger in Tenterfield, although my byd charged successfully at the Dubbo Tesla super charger, I found out later from a PlugShare member the older version 2 Tesla chargers communicate and charges BYD ATTO 3, the newer version 3 tesla super chargers does Not communicate or charge BYD ATTO 3, hopefully a software update may fix this in the future

    I'm in the UK. The Tesla chargers are way cheaper than others. I was able to charge my MG5EV no problem at all but after April 1st it always failed in exactly the same way as in your video. Tesla support told me that MG was blocked because the did not have the correct protocols. Research on the MG ev forums told me they had an update for the charge control unit. They took their's to a service centre and a free download cured the problem.
    I contacted my local MG service centre but they entered my reg on their computer and said that my car had no outstanding updates and that there was not one available for the charge unit.

    • @justcruisin109
      @justcruisin109 11 месяцев назад

      It may well be a problem with the connection between the car and the charger but there is a setting in the charger to allow all cars (default), only Teslas or only specific Teslas. If you know the charger is set up for all cars then the issue is probably the car’s software. Sorry I don’t know any more to help you.

      @jeffbaker1173 Do you know if your wall connector is a Gen 1, 2 or 3? We had a Gen 2 wall connector for our Tesla (but they wont charge a non tesla), we have now purchased an Ora and upgraded it to the Gen 3 unit, its a bit of a process to get the Ora to start but no issues now. The supplied UMC from Tesla also will not charge the Ora, but the Jonhon supplied by Ora works on both.

    There seems to be a bigger issue with reliability of the CCS2 comms standard. Often I see Teslas having charging issues at NRMA tritium chargers from the PlugShare log ins. With my EV6 I had a similar experience to what you described at the EVie 350kw chargers north of Beerburum.
    The EGMP cars like Ioniq5 and EV6 have a fundamental mismatch with SCs at the moment as they have to step up the 400v to their 800v system. Use a different system to the Tycan which has better success but means they max out at about 97kw on the V2s and only 43kw on the V3s. Hopeful that when the SC V4s that work at 1000v start getting rolled out this will not be an issue. In the meantime the SCs are a good if expensive and slow fallback in case all else fails.

  • @hartoz
    @hartoz 11 месяцев назад +1

    So is the problem, the Tesla Supercharger or the MG's charging software?
    I think it's more likely the Tesla Supercharger, because Tesla hates playing with other makes. Tesla was forced to use CCS2 in Australia, but they only fully adopted the plug standard not the communication standard.
    I own a BYD and haven't tried on the supercharger network yet, as there is not a Tesla station near me at all (I think there is one 100km away, luckily, we have a single public fast charger available).

      Highlights the issue here with the multitude of payment and app needs for all the different systems. In the U.K. and US some networks are just moving to contactless payment by credit card. Tried this last week on my trip to the U.K. at a Gridserve VFast charger in a borrowed MG4 and it’s soooo much more convenient. We should be moving this way but instead NRMA has just announced we will have to use its own app without even using the chargefox network! Another app to add to my phone now 🤦
