Excellent tips through out. Something as simple as placing your screws in line in your hand or pocket...so true. I thought about doing that after jumbling screws and poking my hand digging in my belt for screws. As for the "I'm 1/8 inch off" on screw spacing, you are amazing at the details you go through. I have learned so much from this channel and enjoy the sarcasm here and there.
Great content. A lot of it should be obvious to a professional, but your attention to detail in your explanations keep my coming back for more. Thanks for posting!
Dude, I’ve learned so much from this channel and your IG. Really helping me on my deck build. It’s not perfect, but I’m no Dr Decks. Appreciate all the info.
That’s a good point. Got me wondering if clips can be more forgiving by deflecting without damaging the board. Thanks Dr. Decks! You have an excellent bedside manner!!
I would say that face screwing the board is a lot stronger than using those clips that go on the sides. I would prefer using the clips just because it takes less time - no need to plug any holes.
Do you ever notice colors not matching? I know people complain about different batches of the same color decking not being the same exact color. I would think the plugs may have the same issue. I was thinking of using concealoc and just using the cortex plugs on the ends. My decking will mostly be on a 45. What are your thoughts. My deck is about 900 sq ft. I plan on using timbertech vintage.
Hi, I've recently subscribed to your channel; I think it's great. I would like to determine if the IRWIN DECK TOOL KIT will work for me. I have been unsuccessful in finding the thickness of the DECK TOOL KIT tongue as I install boards with a 4mm (5/32). Would you mind letting me know the exact thickness of the tongue. Many thanks,
Nice video! I have been building decks alone for almost ten years. I don’t hire anyone usually unless I need help. One of the biggest challenges for me is being the business owner. Taking care of tax stuff, running to meet a new client while trying to focus on a current job, designing, estimating, communicating constantly…but I think the biggest is finding the profit I need to hire 2+ more guys to take care of most of the builds while I do that business stuff. Adding in social media videos is a must too. Good luck, hope your busy!
Drone video footage would definitely take this channel to a whole new level. Thank you
So useful. I am just a homeowner who wants to understand what is needed to replace a deck. This helps in selection of a contractor and specifications.

I had to clamp mine one at a time. I put a saw blade in between board to have something to clamp to. works great

Thanks for the note about the 3D printer adapters. Please let us know when those are available!
Would like to know as well. Irwin makes them but seem to be unavailable.
Definitely
You guys rock -- great content, so informative. Getting ready for my deck build and your channel has been tops
Great Video! Thank Dr!!

Another great video
Loving your videos mate, cheers!
I use blue chalk all the time, no issues. Terry cloth towel and comes right off. 😁👍🏻
If fasting wood decking, PT or cedar how would you address hiding or inserting screw heads?
what drill bits , countersink were you using with the felt tip ????
Have the deck clamp kits become available yet? Very interested in getting some of those, but I can’t find them anywhere.
Do you have a video somewhere explaining why you prefer to face-screw as opposed to using hidden deck anchors?

Can you tell me what length screw you use, 2-1/2", 2-3/4", or 3"?
How did you calculate the deck to land on a full board?
Hello Doctor…Can you provide the link for the 3D printer version of the Irwin deck spacer adapter. Thanks.
@deckmasterj will release it on July 1st on Instagram
@@drdecks been following but haven't seen him post those 3D printed clamp attachments
@@drdecks Have the 3D printer version been released yet ... (current date of this question is 6-17-23)
Do you exclusively install composite? No real wood? How would redwood do in your area?
I want to see them pull out the spacers.
Love your vids bro, keep em coming. Sure do need some of those Irwin clips/printed versions. Is there an update for them yet?
@irwintools
Hey where’s the 3D Printed link?
What is your price per sq ft? Or are you a cost plus guy?
Did Irwin stop making the deck clamp kits? Anyone know?
Dr. Deck said in the video they don’t make them anymore.
Hey guys, I like to use baby powder in my chalkbox on all my decking boards, wash’s right off or let the rain wash it off.
I sure wished the 3D clips were available.
The manufacturers instructions says use a drill and not a driver to install the board screws. I see you use a driver. Why?
FASTER, DRIVER HAS A CLUTCH SO IT DOWN'T MESS UP YOUR WRISTS. VERY SIMPLE COMMON SENSE STUFF RIGHT THERE!

Two questions...what are those bladders?
What body of water is that in the background?
Puget sound
Is that a supra!
Professional deck builder lmao
