As someone who visits London regularly, I'm staggered as to how accurate they got everything. From Piccadilly Circus to Trafalgar Square to the theatres on Shaftesbury Avenue and even the Tesco Express just down from Piccadilly Circus, all of it absolutely spot on.
Gran Turismo 4 for me is still the best one of the series… I used to love when my mom would ask what I was playing in the middle of the night, and I would say either I’m driving in NY or Seattle… lol I also love London from GT5.
I miss Special Stage Route 5 & 11 as well as Tokyo. Those were great and fun tracks that I loved playing for hours on end. If there is one that really sucked though, it was London. I could have done without that one. Also, I remember there being a completely different version of the Rome Circuit in GT5 too.
They have to bring Special Stage Route 5 back! It's not just any city course, it's a legend course. A course that has been a staple in the series since the flippin' beginning. Even appearing in the Tourist Trophy spin-off! Granted, I know Sport didn't bring it back, I don't know why. But still! Special Stage Route 5 holds a place in the majority of Gran Turismo players' hearts they can't just not include it.
@@Sonicrunner2010 Special Stage R5 would have to change its overall environment for GT7 so that it would be set in a real life environment. Perhaps change the environment to Los Angeles, because Tokyo is already taken with Tokyo Expressway.
i really don't understand why they don't just put some of these iconic tracks (and even PD's fictional closed circuit tracks like Grand Valley and Midfield) in GT7... but no we get Watkins Glen as our only new track in 8 months
I think it takes more time to update these tracks to modern graphics than people think. Update building models, lighting, possible make a few changes here and there to make the track work better for online racing, opponent ai has to work etc. I really hope we get more of them though.
very disappointing, I don't know why they keep cutting iconic tracks from the previous games, it's like they don't know their own history of their game. Also the Original Circuits!! GT4 is the best Gran Turismo to this day still.
Excellent video. Very informative. Excellent driving too. All of these city tracks are masterpieces. I will never get tired of racing lap after lap through their turns and straights.
I always loved how aggressive the car sounds were in GT2. Not to mention the turbo spooling sound. Love it. Seattle circuit was great. I loved building a powerful car and hauling ass up and down those hills.
In every Sony console, there were always 2 Gran Turismo games. PS4 now is complete with both GT Sport and GT7. PS5, of course, GT7, but there is a potential for Gran Turismo 8. I just hope they will ditch away those online-only stuff. It's hurting the franchise at slow pace.
GT7 was never originally intended for PS4, it was only the PS5s poor availability that forced a PS4 release for business reasons. Of course all that's done is shown how little effort they put into the PS5 version since the only difference between the two is resolution, loading times and very subtle (barely noticeable) lighting improvements. Almost all the tracks have just been ported across from GT Sport with minimal changes which makes me wonder wtf the dev team has been doing in the last few years to bring out a far less impressive game than GT4 or 6 were in their day. I expected to see far more tracks and variety- they surely have the budget to outsource some of those older tracks, particularly the newer ones that could be brought up to spec in a few weeks with a modest sized art team. The older PS2 tracks would be a complete rebuild so perhaps more understandable they're missing but even then it's not like Polyphony didn't have the budget to get them done!
The London and Seattle tracks were fantastic. The London one brought back amazing memories of playing MSR on the Dreamcast. I hope we see some of these city tracks as DLC for GT7. I always found the engine sounds to be amusing... the car you're using for Madrid sounds like they hired Elmo (Sesame Street) to make the engine noises!
Videos like these kinda make me sad, I have so many memories going back basically my entire life playing this series. Each game and track I can associate with different places I lived, summers spent, countless hours driven, it’s been my favorite since the original, and I’m in my mid 30s playing GT7 now
Gran Turismo 4 had the best tracks. Such lovely city trails are sorely missed! The rally tracks were also very diverse in GT4! Gran Turismo has been one of my favorite games since Ps1. Unfortunately, Gran Turismo 7, no more than GT Sport 2.0 Very sad!
me being a Forza player I can confirm SSR11 (original layout) was insane pvp'ing in that track was a real challenge, specially if you picked the Stingray Corvette 😂
I miss special route 7, it was great to reach 300 km/h in those beautiful raining nights, and I also liked it because GT cars controlled by A.I wold lose control and crash in the middle of the course and you had to think fast because there wasn't yellow flag in GT5 and 6, I also like how it wasn't just a straight line like Special route X and in replay it had some breathtaking angles...
15:42 Well, damn, that bites. This one and SSR5 are both sorely missed... If we get Blue Coast back, it should be named Monaco. Oh, wait, never mind me; that's only for the GP.
Those are more like rally tracks. I don't think they are fitting in this video. Here I am showing tracks in big cities. I might show them in a different video in the future though.
Special Stage Rome at Night from GT2 is worth mentioning. Back in the day driving the Alfa Touring Car or the Lotus GT1 LM Car at this stage was unique and fun
I wanted a new city circuit when GT6 was upcoming but it never happened. I guess after seeing GTS and GT7, city circuits are not coming back for now. Like the old photo travel mode, PD have expressed their interest in simplifying their modelling efforts to more efficient methods and they've been cracking down on laborious developments, which city circuit modelling closely shares with photo travel. Tokyo Expressway was revealed to be a procedural generation project by PD. I can only imagine that it'll come back once modelling technology and techniques have improved.
I think the reason they're not doing city circuits anymore is that PD would want to do very high-detail buildings etc, and is probably way more resource-intensive than circuit tracks
That is when a franchise dies, when saving money and resources comes before ambition and delivering on what people love. Its about being cheap and screwing the players for money with less and less content for higher consumer cost. Its a cynical approach that plagues most of gaming today.
As someone who 'jumped' from GT 1 & 2 to Sport, I really missed SS5, SS11, Seattle & Rome... but WOW, all of the tracks are beautiful. Those guys at Polyphony are geniuses!
the seattle track will be awesome to play the gt2 version showed the kingdom and the gt3 version showed safeco field both had the alaskan way viaducks which arent around any more they took them down
Route 5, Rome and Tokyo are absolutely great tracks and should be present in all future GT games, NY, while not as good, is decent enough for me to wish it is too, Route 11, if they remove the double chicane part in the tunnel, will be a good track. But you missed a great track, Rome Night from GT2, absolutely underused, and it felt great driving on it.
I didn't miss Rome Night. I am actually talking about it myself in the description. :) Definitely a very interesting track and really weird that they didn't use it for any race events and only for that one license test.
