I took classes from Ron many moons ago in St.Pete Florida and he can do things with sheet metal that will blow your mind....he is also a great instructor and all around fun person to hand around with and talk about cars and motorcycles.....on tubing nuts...I saw a guy one time put a piece of tube in a 5C collet, put the nut on, flare the tube, turned it around and repeated the process on the other side and then stood there and tried to figure out how he was going to extract the 5C collet from the assembly....it was a riot.

Hi my names Richard, I was wondering if I could take you out for dinner, and we could talk about some of the cool stuff you make, unless you don’t want to talk about it and talk about something else, I’m very new working with lathe’s, I’m actually a pipeline welder, but I got hurt and been out of work for the past year and a half, and I’ve always been fascinated with lathes so I bought me a Taig lathe with the 5c spindle to start out with, and I’ve learned a lot from you so far, and I’ve always thought you were beautiful and I love your humor, I don’t know if any of this will get to you so I decided to try my luck

Ron's work always turns out looking more like it was grown than fabricated. He's incredible.
I've done the whole "forgot the flare nuts" routine SO MANY TIMES making custom brake lines for hot rods. Nothing like finishing up a long stainless line with a ton of precise bends by throwing it in the scrap bin rather than tweaking it to make up the 1/2" of length you lost re-flaring out of sheer spite. 😾

I've always been a fan of the the whole "Stream Punk" old school copper look long before the younger generation started calling it Steam Punk and I'm 70! If you distil your water, or buy distilled water, prior to using it as feedwater you will greatly reduce the amount of scale buildup in your boiler. If you are looking to make the system more efficient, I have found that using a computer water cooling system with a 12v fan and heat exchanger works really well for condensing steam. I made a home water distilling system using a 3-fan setup and it works very well. You could also consider using Morpholine as a scale preventative and hydrazine as an oxygen scavenger for prevention of corrosion.

To find the tap drill size or bore size for a 60 Deg thread you subtract the thread pitch from the major diameter. Example. Metric m10 x 1.5 . subtract pitch of 1.5 from the OD. of 10mm leaves 8.5mm which is the tap hole size.
So 1/2- 13 thread. The pitch 13 is 1 divided by 13 = .0769 . Now subtract .0769 from the major thread size which is .5 - .0769 = .423 hole size. This works for any 60 degree thread . No need for thread chart.

Diamond tool holder question. I have one in the box from when I had a 9” Southbend. Now that I have a 14” is there a lot of benefit to moving up to a larger size, or not enough to justify the cost? Thanks

Dumb question... if you're keen on the copper look... is it worth electroplating? Or is that too much effort?

But she says at the end that the lines will be remade when the tank/pump/ boiler configuration is finalized.

Did you know that an edge finder (wiggler) can be used on the outside diameter of a boss, as well as the inside of a bore to find the centers using the 1/2 feature of your DRO? Works just as well as with straight features.

The captive nuts remind me of forgetting the dust covers when wiring up CAT5 patch cables. Definitely annoying, but ultimately a much more forgiving fix than plumbing fixtures. Edit: just got to the part where you forgot the nut. Priceless. I mean, sorry, but...

I wonder ... if you feel inclined, that a driven wheel set up to actuate the pump you just made automatically might be a good bonus video in the series
