- The Dr. Popper has quickly turned into my favorite popping cork for attracting attention to lures when the water is murky and/or churned up.
This unique cork gives off sound similar to a fish striking at the surface with its concave shape, and it’s brass beads give off a lifelike clicking sound as you’ll be able to hear in the video below.
A huge added bonus is that it can easily be stored in any tackle tray unlike most other popping corks which have a rigid wire that can’t be bent.

The Versamaxx also works well and has a mono version.
Does your membership cover all of Florida for fishing tips & areas to catch?
Our membership is focused on inshore saltwater fishing spanning from the southern tip of TX all the way around the Gulf, and then up the Atlantic coastline up to Virginia (with a growing group in New England).
Used to make our own with mono
How cool!
I've tried other popping corks rigged on mono and they tend to get wrapped in the line a lot more. Have you seen this?
We have not personally experienced or heard feedback about line wrapping issues with these corks.
I've used these corks for years and never had tangling issues
Casting distance on this cork is absolute trash.
Which lure were you using under it? It's designed to have a 1/4 oz jighead with a soft plastic rigged similar to what was shown in this video... when that is used, the cork and lure combo has good casting distance.
If you're main line is to heavy it will not cast as far as using a lighter line. I use 12lb mono or 6/20 power pro and can cast a mile. You're not doing something right check your gear.
