My guess about the weird metal/ink coverage thing is that this is accomplished with a special texture map, and those costumes didn't get a proper texture map made for them.
A couple of theories I have for why Duck Hunt's jab deactivates the glitch has to do with either: a) the game recognizing that a "tilt" attack has been inputted being the thing that activates the phantom hitbox. b) the fact that Duck Hunt's jab and nair are the only two non-smash/special move that doesn't utilize the duck, instead using the dog. I do not know if Duck Hunt nair deactivates the glitch as well, so if it doesn't deactivate it, then my theories can be thrown out the window. That is my best guess on how this works.
iirc the reason why little mac's alts get covered that way is due to its ink map (something the game uses in the characters normal maps to calculate how ink spreads) and with each slot, the map is usually varying colors with blue (the one that controls ink) being used around the map. however, the alts that his pants are striped have a normal map that is completely blue so the ink will always cover it no matter what amount
Got an interesting interaction between Final Smashes and stage hazards: Some Final Smashes put the game in a special state and the general rule seems to be that if the Final Smash is one of those combo/barrage type attacks like Ike, Mii Brawler, etc. then most stage elements will freeze until the attack finishes. (It’s entirely possible that other Final Smashes that take place on the actual stage instead of a cutscene like Samus, Jigglypuff, or Olimar also do this, but I didn’t think to test this at the time.) I initially discovered this when during a Quickplay match, a Cloud player hit their Final Smash while the laser blast hazard on the Halberd stage was going off. Despite the stage being frozen, the laser hitbox was still active, and when the Omnislash attack dragged the other player up there, they took damage from both the laser and the Final Smash, which KO’d them even though they were at 0% when Could used it. I didn’t test much in the way of other stages, but I’m pretty sure these Final Smashes also pause stage transitions like the Stage Morph rule or the Castle Siege stage.
Sucks to hear the localization videos didn't have solid results. As someone trying to learn Japanese to make my dream job of working in localization, AND as someone who spends way too much time already analyzing the use of words and names in video games, the videos were right up my alley! But the numbers don't lie, so I can understand not sinking more time into a topic lacking results. As for names in the translation tidbits section, after checking the Final Fantasy and Tekken wikis, I can confirm that Levin Sword, Scintilla and Flash Punch Combo use the same names in both English localizations as used in their original series. As someone else stated, the difference in the localization of 閃光 between the two are likely due to them being localized in different context: series like Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem lean into using less common and archaic words that will make some want to break out a dictionary, while a fighting game will be more likely to use more simplistic words that more easily convey the meaning. Of course, that last point is rather comical considering the mouthfuls of adjectives thrown in all of Kazuya's move names, which leads into the "so simple you won't think of it" answer to the difference in localization: they were localized by different people. The people who worked on the English release of the Disgaea series and those who did Tekken are, obviously, different, and something as minor as the localization of a fairly unimportant name says so much about those who worked on these projects and their fundamentals (or restrictions from higher-ups, let's be honest) when it comes to localization. Back to the original topic, Blunderbuss is the only one of the four listed that, as far as I'm aware, was given a new name. I checked the Japanese manual, walkthroughs , pixiv and *shudders* wikia pages on Kaptain K. Rool and after skimming over them all, it seems the gun wasn't ever actually named in Donkey Kong Country 2. The wording on the wikia page is pretty much "The Pirate Cannon used in Smash Ultimate is the same blunderbuss [uses the word ラッパ銃, another name for a blunderbuss] seen in Donkey Kong Country 2." I think the name Pirate(s) Cannon (パイレーツ キャノン) due to the projectile being called a Kannonball (though I think in Japanese it's just called a ball) and being modeled after cannonballs rather than the spreadshot fire of a blunderbuss. Additionally, I've yet to find evidence of the blunderbuss having a name in the West prior to Smash Ultimate. I assume that Blunderbuss was just chosen as the English localization instead of "Pirate's Cannon" or something similar based on the clear inspirations of the weapon and the fact that it's an antiquated firearm, though that didn't stop Joker and his literal Gun (tm).

Hey mr beats. I love the content and today I come to you with a non smash related question. When you learned Japanese how did you get motivated to learn it? I’m just struggling with my last year of school so I’d love to hear what you say!
Honestly a lot of my motivation at the start came purely intrinsically. I was interested in the language and had wanted to learn it for years at that point, and I was at an area of my life where I was lacking new, meaningful hobbies, so it was only natural. Down the line, though, I'd say some of my motivation started stemming from the idea that having a career in translation would be a really cool path for my future, which was really awesome given I had no idea what I wanted to do in the long term. So at the moment, it's a combination of basic, intrinsic motivation and the idea of it becoming a career! There are days where it's hard to be motivated or do what I feel like I should do, so never stress it. As long as you get back into the swing of things eventually, breaks in motivation are natural. The way I personally counter that, even if just slightly, is to make certain elements of studying a daily habit, and not big, time-consuming ones either. My flash card reviews are that, for me. I haven't skipped a daily flash card review session in almost 800 days now, and it doesn't feel painful to do since it usually only takes 10-30 minutes Good luck with your last year of school! 13:37 Wait, the one's who designed/named K Rool's gun were Rare, in England. Could it be in Japanese a blunderbuss is called a "Pirate's Cannon"? Because I see "blunderbuss" being a very hard word to try to say in japanese, specially 400 years ago when rules were more strict about foreigners
You're totally right that the ones who originally made K. Rool were English, though I'm not sure if that specific attack was named before Smash? And, whenever I look up "Pirate's Cannon" on google or anywhere, I don't get a blunderbuss, but instead just a picture of a... cannon lol The word Blunderbuss, however, does exist in Japanese, as ブランダーバス, and searching this does give the same results. So the word definitely exists there, and it's not particularly difficult to pronounce like this, so idk tbh
The first localised game to have the levin sword was Shadow Dragon, on the DS. I think thunder sword would have fit the text boxes in that... Is what I thought anyway, but I decided to do a bit of searching before posting, and the longest item names I could find in that game are 12 characters long, and counting the space "thunder sword" is 13, so maybe it was exactly 1 over the limit, though I could also have missed an item name that is 13 characters long.
@@33link333 I decided to consult the wiki and it seems Levin is also an old-english term, possibly descended from Latin; which makes Levin an appropriate name even if Thunder could have fit
@@velvetbutterfly I happened to already know what levin meant, it's not the only time I have run into the term, I have always thought it was a good name for it. I honestly don't think thunder sword sounds very good either, so I'm quite happy they choose levin, no matter why they choose that. As a strange fact, in Shadows of Valentia it's called the lightning sword, despite being set on one of the same continents as Awakening, in which it's called Levin, both games on 3DS. Granted there is a large timeline difference between the two games.
@@33link333 I was more pointing out the origin point of it being a factor. Using a term that sounds archaic fits the vibe of the series compared to using a term that feels modern and mundane.
(13:30) Isn't Blunderbuss originally an English name since Rare is from UK who made King K Rool and his weapons? Therefore the Japanese name the localised one.
I find i most enjoy uniquely *seasoned* chicken wings, rather than ones with special sauces. Less likely to degrade the quality of the breading if they sit for too long, plus less dirty for the hands. Lemon Pepper's the classic, can never go wrong, though I recently had some pretty bomb Garlic Parmesan that I felt were enough entirely without sauce, no Ranch or Buffalo or anything else involved.
Believe it or not, before I moved into my new place, I never got sauce with anything I got, however, my roommate has been teaching me the ways of good eating. Usually, depending on the type of chicken we get, we always get yellow mustard or BBQ sauce.
I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately, but for once the sponsor actually doesn't look that bad. Usually I skip the sponsors for every video and creator cuz it's either the same game for the past few years or some obscure game that no one would ever really play. Recently I've been watching a lot more sponsors like on this because it's actually interesting. Might try it out, tbh.
Probably my favorite wing sauce is a Mango Habanero sauce from this one wings place my dad loves a ton. Sadly can’t remember the name, but they make amazing sauces, amazing chicken, and even amazing fries, which is a shocking rarity for wings places, at least in my experience.
i prefer boneless to bone-in regardless of what i'm eating, i don't want to pick my food apart or risk biting into a bone regarding sauces, i haven't tried very many, and don't remember the names of what i HAVE tried, but i preferred the spicier of the sauces that i had
There's a small thing that happened with translators where if Japanese uses English words, they'll occasionally use the Japanese words in English. This happens a lot in Yu-Gi-Oh, for example
Sakurai himself literally made a video a couple days about particle effects and using 2d objects in a 3d game to spice visual effects. I guess that camera effect takes away all 2D objects...that would be very interesting to know what's counted in the game as 2D and what isn't
I think the color effects only affecting Little Mac’s clothes on those alts seems like it was intended for the wireframe alts but they moved the alts to different spots without transferring the code
is the duck hunt glitch possible while under the effects of the stopwatch item or bayo's witch time? or is it specifically the GAME speed that needs to change, not the character speed
As a note, they actually can't just add all three mobs from the mob vote, because that would take 3x as long to develop and/or result in lower quality mobs and mechanics. Adding all three would sacrifice something else in the development pipeline, which - for better or for worse - is something they can't/won't justify. Presumably, whatever else they're cooking up is better than any of the mobs in the vote
They very easily could, lol. That said, I do kind of understand their desire to limit the amount they change the game with each update. Damn it would be nice to have a dozen new, interesting little guys without waiting 5 years, though.
Depending on where I'm ordering, I usually go for chicken wings that are "spicy with something else" for flavour diversity, my favourite of which is Honey Sriracha, but I also am quite fond of a good old Garlic Parmesan erm, dry rub? Idk it depends on the place for its status as a sauce or rub I suppose.
Honestly, I hope the community’s protest efforts win the mob vote. Minecraft really should have more effort being put in than what they’ve been getting these past few years. Also, I’m going with hot sauce, specifically Frank’s RedHot wing sauce. The mild variety is already really good even without the spiciness of the normal temps.
Heh.. Cacophony.. I get it Crocodile Cacophony is one of the themes in Smash associated with K Rool (Oh also, any sauce that's available tbh. I'm not picky)
im very sad to here that there won't be any translation videos. I'm currently trying to learn Japanese myself, and those video were a very fun way to learn more. Maybe they will return one day.
I just wanna say that Frame by frame messes up the Reticle for duck hunt, in a normal match the reticle comes out AFTER the hitbox from F-smash becomes active. Edit: aslo Frame by frame in training mode is terrible for normally unimportant frame specific studying. For example the Visual for Shield doesn't go away the first frame you drop shield, whether by jumping or normally, but in frame by frame mode it does. This is because the characters movement is halted by the frame by frame mechanic and is under the players control, but the shields visual aspect still runs at 60fps. so going frame by frame in a youtube video might make it look like somone got shield poked but in reality they jumped out of shield the frame the move connected.
Hey, PK Beats! Which mods are using to Play TF2? And why your game runs som smooth? Even with my 120 FPS, my game doesn't run this smooth like in your video that runs at 60... Any clue?
also @casual_PKBeats heres a question: do self damaging moves (flare blitz hammer flip, ECT.) stale on the self damage? ive had this question for a while
I imagine it has to do with the algorithm they use for making the metal sort of... unevenly coat the body as it fades in. does the paint do that too, just a lot faster? does it like, smear across the body? they might not be able to do that with patterned clothes.
@@KairuHakubi No, that’s not how it works. The normal map, like the colored and prm (the ones used for lighting), use 4 channels per texture map: The Red, Green, Blue and Alpha channels. In the case of the Normal maps, the Blue channels have the mapping of how the ink splotches get manifested before completely covering an area. The reason it doesn’t fades in is because there’s was an oversight with those alts.
I found a glitch with king k rool while trying to do the vibration glitch where something weird happens with ledge slipping and the combo counter, where would the best place be to show you this if I don’t have twitter?

Duck Hunt but as Fighter's Pass 2 character
Sakurai himself literally made a video a couple days about particle effects and using 2d objects in a 3d game to spice visual effects. I guess that camera effect takes away all 2D objects...that would be very interesting to know what's counted in the game as 2D and what isn't
Kazuya: Please, have mercy! AAAAAHAAAUGHAAAUGHAAAAUGHAAAAAAAUGH!
He already answered it. It has to be the training mode slow down or Custom Smash which uses the same speed change
Since I can’t really use a different controller rn the duck hunt glitch is surprisingly hard to do
0:56 hell yea
As a note, they actually can't just add all three mobs from the mob vote, because that would take 3x as long to develop and/or result in lower quality mobs and mechanics. Adding all three would sacrifice something else in the development pipeline, which - for better or for worse - is something they can't/won't justify. Presumably, whatever else they're cooking up is better than any of the mobs in the vote
They very easily could, lol. That said, I do kind of understand their desire to limit the amount they change the game with each update. Damn it would be nice to have a dozen new, interesting little guys without waiting 5 years, though.
Favorite sauce? None. I love the pure cooked taste of chicken
AWWWWH THE TRANSLATION THINGS DIDN'T GO WELL??? I'M SO SORRY >n
The slipcel is literally extratone in a nutshell 💀
Scintilla is the word for spark in Italian as well (not super surprising I know), also the "sc" in "scintilla" is pronounced like "sh" like in "shit"
heres one: sephiroth cant tech on the bottom of steve's blocks
Ah, the Slipcel from Sm4sh is still in place as it seems.^^
NOOOOO SYLVEON700 WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME
13:48 Huh. Neat.
as a duck hunt main this changes EVERYTHING for me
The Korean Backdash is REAL
3:27
I like garlic parmesan wings
thanks for making sponsor a chapter
I LOVE HONEY MUSTARD
It feels weird to call that a sauce lol >w
9:50 Mario 64 moment
as a dedede main I promise you the ledge drop and back up glitch thing can be done for a long time in town and city
I think it depends on walk speed
i enjoy parmasean, permashawn? parmerzeen.
9:52 first person to hit this in tournament will be so hype
Honestly, I hope the community’s protest efforts win the mob vote. Minecraft really should have more effort being put in than what they’ve been getting these past few years.
Also, I’m going with hot sauce, specifically Frank’s RedHot wing sauce. The mild variety is already really good even without the spiciness of the normal temps.
Could the Duck Hunt glitch work in a Backfired Slowdown since that slows everyone down
Heh.. Cacophony..
I get it
Crocodile Cacophony is one of the themes in Smash associated with K Rool
(Oh also, any sauce that's available tbh. I'm not picky)
Casting Snooze on a bullet bill breaks it
Buffulo
im very sad to here that there won't be any translation videos.
Thanks for the video :)
You always upload when I least expect it
Hey, PK Beats! Which mods are using to Play TF2? And why your game runs som smooth? Even with my 120 FPS, my game doesn't run this smooth like in your video that runs at 60... Any clue?
It's a real shame your language videos didn't do well. I really liked them.
Hot pink is crazy
I like curry with my wings
also @casual_PKBeats heres a question: do self damaging moves (flare blitz hammer flip, ECT.) stale on the self damage? ive had this question for a while
16:09 first of all I'm vegetarian so i DON'T eat chicken wings
And second i HATE sauce
I imagine it has to do with the algorithm they use for making the metal sort of... unevenly coat the body as it fades in. does the paint do that too, just a lot faster? does it like, smear across the body? they might not be able to do that with patterned clothes.
No algorithm. It’s a texture channel on the normal maps that controls the inking splotches.
@@AarturoSc texture channel.. okay that makes sense. So maybe the stripes were already using that channel.
@@AarturoSc ... what? red green blue and alpha? i have.. a lot of questions.
4:10 Why does the screen does THAT thing (when Kazuya lands)???
Capture card glitched out for that recording, my b
My favorite is probably some kind of BBQ
I found a glitch with king k rool while trying to do the vibration glitch where something weird happens with ledge slipping and the combo counter, where would the best place be to show you this if I don’t have twitter?
My chicken wings do not like sauce
Awesome 😊
