  • The 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible will go on sale in the spring of this year. This soft top SUV claims to retain all of its 4x4 off road characteristics, but promote the style of a convertible. We were granted access to this prototype Range Rover and this static review does through its main features.
    A range of engines are available in this Evoque Convertible including new Ingenium diesel and a 237 BHP petrol engine.

    If only they could put the SCV6, 8 speed and exhaust system from the f-type in there!! The evoque never appealed much to me as its lost too much utility and capability for MY needs, however as an additional vehicle (if I ever had the money) I could definitely see this finding a spot in my hypothetical garage!

      Fair enough. 2016 Evoque review coming next week!

      +Inside Lane awesome, I'll keep an eye out for it. I have a Discovery II and LR3 so the "utility" in sport utility has definitely been a little lacking when as I've viewed the evoque - but to be fair it's been built and (very well) marketed towards the rugged city executive lifestyle, where you might want to escape on the weekends a few times a year. Not sure it can really be beat for the image and luxury, while sprinkling in that bit of extra capability as well. Id never own a regular variant but the convertible definitely offers something entirely new in the segment.

    I'll leave a like for the review but cars like this get my goat up. Like Louis Vuitton handbags and Gucci purses.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 лет назад +1

      +Frocobo Haha! Thanks. The way I think about it is that us "petrol heads" have a good range of performance cars to indulge us and keep us happy. Cars like this keep those who like their designer labels happy. Remember, cars such as this Evoque help Jaguar pay for developing new sports cars.

      Yep, I get that. Like how the Cayenne and now the Macan help Porsche churn out some cracking sports cars.
      Although, the Cayenne and Macan at least have a bit more substance than this monstrosity.

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 лет назад

      +Frocobo True. However, I think this cars substance comes from its class leading off road ability instead of the Porsche on road performance. I'm quite keen to try off roading with the roof down. Might get a bit muddy :/

    No matter who are the drivers , JLR is a lovely brand, but this one from certain angles look like a bath tub. Nonetheless I really like the interior of this F-pace cabriolet. :) mwhahahaha.... No, I really like the interior!

    That trunk space kind of goes against the whole point of having a mid sized SUV right?

    • @insidelane
      @insidelane  8 лет назад

      +Nick Lapuz There is more space than I expected for a car that has to store such a large hood. I guess this car is a bit like one of those clutch bags women have. It's more about style than fitting everything in.

      +Nick Lapuz Yep. I think they will sell well though.

    Just seems so gimmicky to help bring attention to Land Rover/Range Rover. I remember Nissan trying the same thing with one of their SUV's, but I don't doubt some people will take a huge liking to it and make it into a trend of owning one of these things just for the sake of having one. That in turn will probably get brainwashed masses to change their opinion about it and want to buy it, but at the end of the day if I wanted a convertible it would have to be in the form of a sports coupe, such as a Miata ;)

      +NaVVlogZ There is a market for this car, in the same way there is a market for the iPad Pro. If there is money to be made on an existing platform I can't blame them.

      +Inside Lane True, which is why I wouldn't say it won't sell, because it will, just to those who have a taste for this sort of thing or are looking for an off-road vehicle they can take to the mountains roll back the roof and watch the stars, although I usually just camp outside :p
