I just wanted to say thanks for this video. My Series X wasn't reading certain discs and i opened it up and cleaned the laser. seems to be working a little better.
My Xbox suddenly stopped recognizing discs today, after some research and with the help of this video I’m very sure it’s the laser that’s the issue. Gonna try cleaning it first and if that doesn’t fix it I’ll replace it, thank you for the thorough video!
Thanks for the video, cleaning my lens solved my issue! It would have been a pain to send an out-of-warranty Xbox to Microsoft for that little work, especially since they charge 407$ (CAD) + shipping for a repair, while 0.03$ of Q-Tips + a drop of Rubbing alcohols solved my problem... FYI if you just want to clean the lens, you don't need to unsolder the whole drive, you can just flip the board where the cables are and you can access the lens. Still thanks for your help.

my disc drive shit the bed and sounded horrible, grinding and nothing, never read the disc. used this guide and just cleaned the lense and its working again! thank you. hardest part was getting the stand back on.. mine didnt line up the same way as yours

DG-6M5S-03B is the correct model of dvd player, but seeing as I am swapping the circuit board from the original, can I get away with a 01 or 02 version of DG-6M5S ?

I mean, i know that it doesn't recognize regular disc drives just like it can't recognize regular SSD's but can recognize the ones that have deal with microsoft (western digital i think), technically this isn't a regular disc drive so it should recognize it?
Out of nowhere for no reason my series acts stopped reading my cross-gen edition disc of modern warfare 2. And every other game disc. I've tried Black ops 2. Black ops 3. Black ops 4. And Batman Arkham Knight have worked fine. It's just the cross-gen edition disc and I've tried every possible reset you can imagine it doesnt help for me i think its the damn disk cause i found work around for it to work and then the work around stopped and i found another for like three times and now im out of ideas i cant take this frustration and i know its thme cause i was fortunate to get a replacement disks from GameStop
@@fasttechvideo the game doesn't install again once that happens I literally played Mw2 classic 3 months ago and now nothing reads, well the games I want to play dont but others do... My system literally picks n chooses which game to read
@@fasttechvideo never had a problem with my OG Xbox one and I picked it up and threw it like Darth Vader did the emperor the disc trey ejected from the console and that still worked for years untill it bricked on shitty WiFi. The series X has been nothing but issues for me since I got it getting a ps5 at the end of the month and hopefully sell it.

You are correct it's the desoldering that will getcha well that and drag soldering
So I did all this to find a Pokémon coin inside my xbox dis drive blocking the laser. I guess my son snuck it inside there.😂 Thank you for your help.
Very similar situation for me. I found a guitar pick and broken disk.
Weirdly enough I had the same issue found a Pokémon card and a half broken disc of gta v lmao😅

My problem is that the disc drive doesn't take and eject discs. Is it possible to repair or I must change the drive?
@@razerap7or404 you can try to fix it. Check the rollers and gears.

Yes you can but the bracket at the front of the drive might be slightly different and might have to be modified

Try cleaning the laser first. If that does not work replace the disc drive or laser deck as shown in this video.

What do you do if your old logic board is broke ? My disk drive is fine, it reads but won’t eject, so I use a paper clip to eject disks
Interesting. How can one use a paper clip to eject a disc?
Does it need to be replaced if it has issues loading/ receiving disks? It takes mine a couple of attempts or assists to get disks in.
Try to realign it first but eventually you might have to replace it.

I did all this and now my series x just ate my disk and won't spit it out or read it. Any ideas??
You probably soldered on the 2 wires incorrectly

Try cleaning the laser lens but if that does not work then replace the laser.

@@hilas195 yes they are interchangeable but the front face housing on the drive is different and will need to be swapped over.
