Living in Iowa, we are a religious minority. So it's somewhat amusing (and a little sad) to see the stunned look on the faces of non member friends when they see our food storage kept in the tornado proof part of our basement. We survived on that storage during the 2008 financial crisis. We've built it back up in preparation for what's next.
We did the same. Our property came with a bunker. It has ventilation 2 rooms and electricity. Its 2 rooms. We store stuff. I always wonder should we invest getting i t ready for who knows what?
I'm in rural Idaho and most of the LDS people who see our storage are shocked as they have none. Those are the same people who now think a shot is all they need to be safe

I listened to him and got OFF govt welfare, THEN my husband finally was blessed with a steady job. We are out of debt. Our cars aren't fancy, we have no new clothes, but we are being blessed by heeding his prophetic advice. I'm so grateful.
I did too! I was single and recently n joined the Church. I walked into the welfare office and heard a voice say "I will help you" I did sign up for welfare but shortly after asked to get off. I was living in So Cal, and it was difficult to get off.I stopped welfare and went to my Bishop..
Yes, very insightful! Pres. Benson gave this talk 40 years ago, so we have been given a lot of time to prepare. It is my opinion that the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) is just the beginning of what is ahead. Grateful to receive a prelim warning and hoping everyone will be able to stay prepared. yes, it was a good reminder and truly felt the spirit whisper to me his words are true. We have always had food storage & a garden but when we moved last November from PA where my husband & I lived all our lives to TX to be closer to some of our kids and grandkids we sold and gave away much of our belongings including giving away all of our food storage (which we never really had to use) because we had to downsize from a big house and 4 acres. THEN the coronavirus hit and shortages everywhere and we did not even have hardly any extra supplies I had a feeling of panic but it did not last long--I knew we would be ok bc the current Prophet said this would pass. But what a great awakening or reminder of how we need to be prepared because the next event may not pass so quickly! As soon as we get into our new house we will build our food storage again and even though we will have a small yard I will have a small garden.
And even more now that the riots took place. Wait until the November presidential election, and what ends up happening to that president and the 2 after. Prophecy is being fulfilled. This decade will not be a pleasant one for the saints, nor our country, nor the world for that matter. But we know how the story ends.
I sure wish I had a years supply of canning lids and jars like I did during Pres. Benson’s time. Almost impossible to find any since COVID. I’m old now but my daughters can everything available.

Tonight RUclips suggested that I watch Elder Holland’s “Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You,” which I did. It then recommended I watch this video, which I have quoted from many times as I have diligently prepared my family for physical tribulation. But it was the video it suggested next that really caught my attention. “Preparation for the Second Coming” by Elder Dallin H. Oakes of the Twelve from April 2004. While given decades apart, those three videos, in that specific order, as I am confined to my home due to COVID-19, were particularly poignant and made quite an impression on my mind that I’m being given a message I’d better pay strict attention to. I write this two days before the April 2020 General Conference with great anticipation of what is to come.

I am an Iraq war veteran. Like President Benson, I've also seen large groups of people rummaging through garbage dumps, and widows with many children living in bombed out buildings with next to nothing to eat. It impressed upon me the unbelievable blessings that even the poor among the first world countries have had. It also impressed upon me the very real notion that I should never take things for granted, and should prepare for the times of trial in the last days that will surely come upon all men.
I joined in 1965 and shortly after that learned about food storage. I thought it would be in case of war or like that. Then 2 years ago our Sunday services changed. Now we are "quarantined" and need food and have to have services at home. God knew what would happen and prepared us for it.
lived in post world war 2 Germany. food insecurity was a daily struggle. I have had foodstorage for 29 years. never regretted it and in the last 10 years increased it. now people who laughed wished they had foodstorage. follow the prophet and you will be prepared.

I shattered my skull seven years ago and was in a coma for two weeks. While I was in a coma I saw a small spec of heaven he gave me a date and told me to get my patriarchtical blessing. I can’t describe heaven to you no matter how hard I try due to the fact the lord wanted only me to see it. If you don’t believe in the Lord You’re missing out so many blessings he has to offer you. I testify that he is the all living God and that the second comming is near. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
He didn't personally sign your mission call. A little machine called the "autopen" signed it using one of 3 different signatures Benson had used in both black or blue ink. These were changed weekly to give the impression that Benson personally signed your call.

That counsel was not just for the members of the Church, wether they be active or less active, it was for everyone and everywhere. The same counsel is still just as currant today.
Yes it is - God's prophet on the Earth is for the entire World not just us as members of His true Church. However no need to be elitist - if we're not doing what our Prophets have warned us to do for decades and decades then we'll be in the same boat as those "not yet members". So share, serve and love but also be wise in our own stewardship for ourselves and our families - get growing and saving NOW. Don't wait for tomorrow y'all. I not a member but yet I was wise enough to get allotment I observed global crises of this days my mother is a member I knew she had a food storage I built a garden it’s not easy maintenance of allotment at times my health tries over throw me. It’s exhausting but yet I hang on keep doing a bit there and a bit there one step at a time and also rest a little to enjoy the birds
It is not over, much of the prophecy for the days of tribulation is yet before us. The famous virus is mutating. It is out there, and who but God can make it go away ??

It's only a natural cycle of the earth and science has actually proven that, here's a hint, deep ice bores. Man has had very little impact on earths climate, the Earth is just to big for us to have impacted the weather this quickly, it's all a political scheme, but yes we absolutely should do what we can to eliminate pollution. Secondly, God controls the weather, ever saw the coalition between the world getting more wicked and the the weather getting worse? No coincidence, God is punishing the wicked and giving us wake up calls. "Hey, wake up, watch what you're doing, repent repent" he's trying to get our attention.
Thank you God for the Truth & warnings before hand of what was in store for us. His counsel was honest and sincere. I will not cancel his honesty and concern for the wellbeing of us and our families. I am Thankful this man was not troubled with the duality that is upon our world and leaders today. Grateful for his service to the Lord and caring for his brothers and sisters.
COVID-19, year 2020 watching this. I was also a welfare services (medical) and proselyting missionary after I converted in a third world country. Now, in USA, we are applying those same basics for self reliance and food storage in 2020. General Conference is this weekend; I wouldn’t be surprised if Pres. Kimball’s and Pres. Ezra Taft Benson’s talks will be referred/quoted. A lot of cultures (incl mine) teach about work, growing gardens and food storage and the church reinforces each teaching. We can grow our own gardens, learn to fix things ourselves and make jellies, breads or other foods to store while we are staying home during this pandemic. 🌸🌼🌻🍇🍓🥦🥕🌽
I'm watching during a time Americans are locked down, masked, prohibited from gathering in large groups, unable to find many items in our groceries, and not attending school. Worse things lie before us, but if we follow the prophets we will survive..

About 6 months after this talk, I was privileged to visit with President Benson and his wonderful wife Flora because his grandson was a good friend of mine and we had travelled to SLC to go skiing and attend some March Madness games. Somehow, we even managed to convince Pres. and Sister Benson to attend a basketball game with us! After the game (and the Bensons treating us to some delicious ice cream at Snelgroves), I needed to call my uncle who lived in SLC and Pres. Benson kindly offered to let me use the phone in his apartment (no cell phones in those days). I was a 17 year old LDS youth at the time and ended up riding the elevator with just him and me in it. I felt he could see right through me, as if the elevator was a spiritual x-ray machine! However, the two most impactful parts of this unforgettable experience were yet to come. First, he took me into his study to use the phone there so I would not disturb his wife. I will never forget what I saw - wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookshelves, with hundreds and hundreds of books of various kinds lining every wall, all of them either spiritual, historical or otherwise instructional in nature. As a young boy whose favorite reading material was Sports Illustrated, this made a profound impression on me. But the second experience was even more memorable and came a few days later when I saw a set of scriptures in my friend’s family vacation home in Midway. The name “Ezra Taft Benson” was embossed on these scriptures, and amazingly they were simply sitting on a table near the front door. As I picked them up, I noticed that they were unable to sit flat because hundreds of separately typed pages of cross-references and other Gospel messages relevant to the chapter(s) in question had been inserted and glued into various parts of both volumes. I had never seen anything like that and could not believe my eyes! I asked Pres. Benson’s wonderful daughter (and my friend’s mother) Barbara, who incidentally passed away less than a month ago, if Pres. Benson had forgotten his scriptures. She replied, “No, that is his set from last year. He gets a new set every year and he gave us that one.” I asked her if he personally re-annotates each new set, and she said yes, that is how he focuses his scripture study. (!!!) Those two experiences of just a few minutes each completely confirmed to me that Pres Benson was truly a Prophet of God. They also indelibly imprinted in my mind just how much he had studied and had really prepared himself for the massive responsibility of that calling.
I remember thinking, this man must have known my great grandfather, who was among the top agriculturists in Minnesota, during Pres. Benson's service as Secretary of agriculture... so amazing to serve the Lord in that capacity while also serving the country's President, the country itself, and the world! He walked in truth and service among all mankind... I love him, and his talks are always a great reminder of the path I want and need to follow... I am SO grateful. 🙏
He came to the mtc when I was there. The spirit with him was so strong. He had a beautiful smile. I was able to sit right in front of him during his brief message of love for us.
Many years ago, I decided I never wanted to get trapped in credit-card debt. I followed Church leaders' counsel not to buy on credit the things we couldn't afford. I'm thankful that I have no debt in my life. I have little in the way of material goods, but I have peace. I would like to add that tithing is a vital part of any preparation.
Tears blinded my eyes as I seriously listened to our dear Prophets admonition. All the words that Pres. Benson have spoken is and are now getting real...but..some of us did not give heed to our Prophet's warning! I know from the bottom of my heart that, this is now the time which Pres. Benson was referring to...We Thanked Thee O God for the Prophet who guides us in these latter days!
2020 And I feel the heaviness of his talk. His experience what my beloved German country had suffered and recovered from, he has never forgotten. I m Protestant Lutheran. 30 yrs later I m in Ut and a 1st generation American and proud to be. My German grandfather, a POW for six yrs, was rescued by the Americans. Forever thankful so I the grand daugther could be raised under him and my grandma. Both RIP... We all can learn from each other. Respect each other. Love each other. Thanks for the many Saints that I call my friends in Ut. We are all in this pandemic together. God Bless you all. Moreover God Bless America.

This talk was shared with me by a sister in my ward. She said she realized I had been struggling in my calling as RS president, trying to respond to several families’ requests with love while reminding the adults that “want” and “need” are different and my denial of wants was not “mean, hateful” or best of all, because I didn’t understand the duties and responsibilities of my calling. I have decided I am going to make this a part of our food storage lesson on 5th Sunday.
I continue to add more food into my storage each year. All my non member neighbors know that I store food and kid around that if they need food they know where to go. I don’t mind sharing in a real emergency but we really need to encourage 😢 people around us to store for their family.
"One year". The pandemic has been a year. I remember a year ago, when the pandemic began, grocery stores sold out of everything. Everything! It is time to listen and get our years supply.
This speech was given some 40 years ago, in General Conference, in Salt Lake City. President Ezrz Taft Benson, a former secretary of agriculture of the United States, under President. Eisenhower, was a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. In also was an apostle and later the living Prophet of God in his last years of life.
I will reiterate what I have said before, that “there are those of us who cannot, no matter how much we try, make ends meet and be self sufficient. We may live frugally yet have gone through crisis after crisis in which we do not have time in between to replenish what we lose nor do we have the space to grow anything.
Then get married. Advice I seek myself, in manors which I'm lacking. Lord have mercy on me a sinner. Furthermore, be more reliant on the community at large. Find a family in your ward, who has a yard and garden therein. Seek to til with them. My sibling in Christ, agreed I am, times are troubling and life is never easy. Yet I still believe, where there is a will... there is a way. Always & forever. Amen.
March 2020. Any surprise when prophesies come to pass? Pandemic. USA economy at a stand still. Crash of the stock market. On top of that we had a 5.7 earthquake this month. Every word of spoken is prophetic and is true.
Saw the trumpet fall from Angel Moroni this week. That trumpet was made for a warning of repentance and a call to the good news: Jesus Christ. Time is up.

I joined in 1965 and shortly after that learned about food storage. I thought it would be in case of war or like that. Then 2 years ago our Sunday services changed. Now we are "quarantined" and need food and have to have services at home. God knew what would happen and prepared us for it.
Two weeks into the Coronavirus pandemic, and we're seeing how prophetic this counsel was. You NEVER know when it's going to happen.
I will always remember President Benson. I can always feel the Spirit when he speaks, and he is so humble and loving.

I shattered my skull seven years ago and was in a coma for two weeks. While I was in a coma I saw a small spec of heaven he gave me a date and told me to get my patriarchtical blessing. I can’t describe heaven to you no matter how hard I try due to the fact the lord wanted only me to see it. If you don’t believe in the Lord You’re missing out so many blessings he has to offer you. I testify that he is the all living God and that the second comming is near. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

He didn't personally sign your mission call. A little machine called the "autopen" signed it using one of 3 different signatures Benson had used in both black or blue ink. These were changed weekly to give the impression that Benson personally signed your call.

That counsel was not just for the members of the Church, wether they be active or less active, it was for everyone and everywhere. The same counsel is still just as currant today.
Yes it is - God's prophet on the Earth is for the entire World not just us as members of His true Church. However no need to be elitist - if we're not doing what our Prophets have warned us to do for decades and decades then we'll be in the same boat as those "not yet members". So share, serve and love but also be wise in our own stewardship for ourselves and our families - get growing and saving NOW. Don't wait for tomorrow y'all. Love to all in these "opportunities for advanced learning" times. God bless you!!

We are living in the last days. The love of many has grown cold.
I keep thinking of that scripture amidst the current turmoil. Hearts have waxed cold and we are living through prophecy being fulfilled.

I not a member but yet I was wise enough to get allotment I observed global crises of this days my mother is a member I knew she had a food storage I built a garden it’s not easy maintenance of allotment at times my health tries over throw me. It’s exhausting but yet I hang on keep doing a bit there and a bit there one step at a time and also rest a little to enjoy the birds

I embrace it. I mean, I prefer to call it seasons but to each they own.
It's only a natural cycle of the earth and science has actually proven that, here's a hint, deep ice bores. Man has had very little impact on earths climate, the Earth is just to big for us to have impacted the weather this quickly, it's all a political scheme, but yes we absolutely should do what we can to eliminate pollution.
Secondly, God controls the weather, ever saw the coalition between the world getting more wicked and the the weather getting worse? No coincidence, God is punishing the wicked and giving us wake up calls. "Hey, wake up, watch what you're doing, repent repent" he's trying to get our attention.
Thank you God for the Truth & warnings before hand of what was in store for us. His counsel was honest and sincere. I will not cancel his honesty and concern for the wellbeing of us and our families. I am Thankful this man was not troubled with the duality that is upon our world and leaders today. Grateful for his service to the Lord and caring for his brothers and sisters.
COVID-19, year 2020 watching this. I was also a welfare services (medical) and proselyting missionary after I converted in a third world country. Now, in USA, we are applying those same basics for self reliance and food storage in 2020. General Conference is this weekend; I wouldn’t be surprised if Pres. Kimball’s and Pres. Ezra Taft Benson’s talks will be referred/quoted. A lot of cultures (incl mine) teach about work, growing gardens and food storage and the church reinforces each teaching. We can grow our own gardens, learn to fix things ourselves and make jellies, breads or other foods to store while we are staying home during this pandemic. 🌸🌼🌻🍇🍓🥦🥕🌽

Awesome! Absolutely still relevant for today 2024 and especially our future …President Nelson has warned us that “time is running out” . We for sure must be Spiritually prepared so we can HEAR the whispers of the holy spirt guiding and directing us in these latter days! We thank oh God for our Prophets❤️
About 6 months after this talk, I was privileged to visit with President Benson and his wonderful wife Flora because his grandson was a good friend of mine and we had travelled to SLC to go skiing and attend some March Madness games. Somehow, we even managed to convince Pres. and Sister Benson to attend a basketball game with us!
After the game (and the Bensons treating us to some delicious ice cream at Snelgroves), I needed to call my uncle who lived in SLC and Pres. Benson kindly offered to let me use the phone in his apartment (no cell phones in those days). I was a 17 year old LDS youth at the time and ended up riding the elevator with just him and me in it. I felt he could see right through me, as if the elevator was a spiritual x-ray machine!
However, the two most impactful parts of this unforgettable experience were yet to come.
First, he took me into his study to use the phone there so I would not disturb his wife. I will never forget what I saw - wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookshelves, with hundreds and hundreds of books of various kinds lining every wall, all of them either spiritual, historical or otherwise instructional in nature. As a young boy whose favorite reading material was Sports Illustrated, this made a profound impression on me.
But the second experience was even more memorable and came a few days later when I saw a set of scriptures in my friend’s family vacation home in Midway. The name “Ezra Taft Benson” was embossed on these scriptures, and amazingly they were simply sitting on a table near the front door. As I picked them up, I noticed that they were unable to sit flat because hundreds of separately typed pages of cross-references and other Gospel messages relevant to the chapter(s) in question had been inserted and glued into various parts of both volumes. I had never seen anything like that and could not believe my eyes! I asked Pres. Benson’s wonderful daughter (and my friend’s mother) Barbara, who incidentally passed away less than a month ago, if Pres. Benson had forgotten his scriptures. She replied, “No, that is his set from last year. He gets a new set every year and he gave us that one.” I asked her if he personally re-annotates each new set, and she said yes, that is how he focuses his scripture study. (!!!)
Those two experiences of just a few minutes each completely confirmed to me that Pres Benson was truly a Prophet of God. They also indelibly imprinted in my mind just how much he had studied and had really prepared himself for the massive responsibility of that calling.
I really need to step up my game! Thank you do much for sharing those inspiring experiences!

I remember thinking, this man must have known my great grandfather, who was among the top agriculturists in Minnesota, during Pres. Benson's service as Secretary of agriculture... so amazing to serve the Lord in that capacity while also serving the country's President, the country itself, and the world! He walked in truth and service among all mankind... I love him, and his talks are always a great reminder of the path I want and need to follow...

Many years ago, I decided I never wanted to get trapped in credit-card debt. I followed Church leaders' counsel not to buy on credit the things we couldn't afford. I'm thankful that I have no debt in my life. I have little in the way of material goods, but I have peace. I would like to add that tithing is a vital part of any preparation.
Tears blinded my eyes as I seriously listened to our dear Prophets admonition. All the words that Pres. Benson have spoken is and are now getting real...but..some of us did not give heed to our Prophet's warning! I know from the bottom of my heart that, this is now the time which Pres. Benson was referring to...We Thanked Thee O God for the Prophet who guides us in these latter days!
It is happening at this very moment, I wish I had listened more carefully to the anointed.
It's NOT too late. DO IT!

His experience what my beloved German country had suffered and recovered from, he has never forgotten. I m Protestant Lutheran. 30 yrs later I m in Ut and a 1st generation American and proud to be. My German grandfather, a POW for six yrs, was rescued by the Americans. Forever thankful so I the grand daugther could be raised under him and my grandma. Both RIP...
We all can learn from each other.

I have listened to this talk multiple times! Never gets old.
This talk was shared with me by a sister in my ward. She said she realized I had been struggling in my calling as RS president, trying to respond to several families’ requests with love while reminding the adults that “want” and “need” are different and my denial of wants was not “mean, hateful” or best of all, because I didn’t understand the duties and responsibilities of my calling. I have decided I am going to make this a part of our food storage lesson on 5th Sunday.
I continue to add more food into my storage each year. All my non member neighbors know that I store food and kid around that if they need food they know where to go. I don’t mind sharing in a real emergency but we really need to encourage 😢 people around us to store for their family.

This speech was given some 40 years ago, in General Conference, in Salt Lake City.
President Ezrz Taft Benson, a former secretary of agriculture of the United States, under President. Eisenhower, was a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. In also was an apostle and later the living Prophet of God in his last years of life.
I will reiterate what I have said before, that “there are those of us who cannot, no matter how much we try, make ends meet and be self sufficient. We may live frugally yet have gone through crisis after crisis in which we do not have time in between to replenish what we lose nor do we have the space to grow anything.
That's WHY there's a church welfare program.. To meet the level of need. It always came through in the past when I needed it 💜
Then get married. Advice I seek myself, in manors which I'm lacking. Lord have mercy on me a sinner. Furthermore, be more reliant on the community at large. Find a family in your ward, who has a yard and garden therein. Seek to til with them. My sibling in Christ, agreed I am, times are troubling and life is never easy. Yet I still believe, where there is a will... there is a way. Always & forever. Amen.

March 2020. Any surprise when prophesies come to pass? Pandemic. USA economy at a stand still. Crash of the stock market. On top of that we had a 5.7 earthquake this month. Every word of spoken is prophetic and is true.
Saw the trumpet fall from Angel Moroni this week.
That trumpet was made for a warning of repentance and a call to the good news: Jesus Christ.
Time is up.
Come and listen to a Prophets voice and hear the word of God.............Then head the words of truth and light, that flow from fountains pure. Yea, keep His law with all thy might, Till thine elections sure.

Romans 6:14 says we are NOT under the law. The Gospel is 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Telling a person to be prepared does not make on a Prophet.
Han Räddas The gospel is more than just 1st Corinthian's, it is all of the Lords words. Telling people to be prepared is not prophetic, however predicting worldwide calamities before they happen just might be.
