Nice video Vikash. I own a R15 v2 and I use a technique called pumping. It's like, first engaging the front brake and then engaging and disengaging the brake very quickly for few times. It kind of works the similar way abs does and I have noticed the stopping distance is less than the linear braking. This technique doesn't apply on rear braking though.

There's also the fact that the inertia will transfer the weight to the front, so what I do is I transfer the from rear to front by "gradually" grabbing and modulating the front brake while engine breaking(downshifting while rev matching), maybe slightly touch the rear brake. Just sharing what I do.

Adjustments to front and rear brakes
= both should have freeplay - so that you can rest your fingers or boots without triggering the brakes accidently over small bumps and still have quick reaction.
= the freeplay on the hand-lever should be more than the rear so that the front brake will only be effective after the rear brake is effective (milli-seconds) - rear "squart" then front push into the ground
Practice emergency braking in the wet to gain confidence
Practice fishtail control until you can use minimal fishtail to steer (lean a tiny bit or shift weight to preload bias to one side then fishtail with rear brake only)
Go back to practice emergency brake.
Front wheel lock is uncontrollable skid. Always practice with rear wheel lock psychology.

BULLET is a heavy motorcycle not with a lot of torque so even with emergency braking because of its weight it may slow down but what does one do with KTMs,and powerful non ABS bikes, imagine,on a blind curve with loose gravel/oil slick etc at a speed of say 80-100kmph and also if some idiot in a car/bike/truck in front braking suddenly.what does one do.Particularly on a tall bike like a Himalayan BS3.My expsrience (40yrs of riding)says engine braking(mainly) simultaneously with front and back brakes.whats your take on this.

    • @project.jericho

Step one: Don't brake in corners, learn to lean like a pro. If you can't lean, it means you don't understand your machine and you are fighting it. Practice until your skill improves... Until then, do not concern yourself with braking in corners - it's not for you.
