For state #7 in our “50 States in a Year” series, we’re in Indiana! We spent the day exploring Indianapolis where we went to the Indianapolis Zoo, had lunch at an AMAZING new food hall in the Bottleworks District called the Garage Food Hall, took a tour of Newfields Art Museum, and finished the day with happy hour in an igloo at Ellison Brewing!

I'm from Indiana and I loved your video. The zoo is great for little ones, people think the summer is the time to go, but in reality, fall and winter time is the best. The animals are actually more active during that time.
Newfields is the best, imo. They recently just finished monet and had one of his paintings on the wall.
War memorial is free and is pretty cool. The historical society has an eva kor exhibit that you'll need tissues for. Eiteljorg is a native American museum. As of right now, they have a Dorothea Lange exhibit, who took the famous photo migrant mother.
Yup...food first...even camera views on the making of it...and then travel stories and vid clips cap it all off perfectly. Love what you two do!

Nice I was just in Indiana last week. This is great, I love the Zoo. That food hall looked cool. So many cool options. That burger looked good. Ahhh bummer, sorry about the art museum. I would have loved to visit if they allowed filming. I see myself visiting that zoo for sure though. Great video guys.

Loved Nat’s gold sweater. I had one almost exactly the same 50 yrs ago (yikes...who the hell is getting OLD). During my high school cheerleading days. Gold cable knit turtleneck sweater, garnet and green mini kilted skirt, tri coloured pom poms and shakers! Thanks for the memories. Poo 💩 poo 💩 about the ticket. Fortunately it was only $15. I’m inclined to be like Nat...cross my fingers and take my chances!!! Until next time, happy travels 🤪

I saw your Q&A saying this trip was your least favorite. I can see why now. The zoo looked fun, and the igloo was super cool. I've only been to Santa Claus Indiana, and took our kids to Holiday World Amusement park. The town was cute all Christmas themed all over. Maybe a place to check out next trip to Indiana.

Love this video! And what a coincidence! We spent our afternoon just down the road from our house at Wildlife Safari!! Y’all HAVE to come visit the Wildlife Safari here in Oregon! The highlight was the talking lions, the playful elephants and the feisty tiger Cubs who were torturing their patient momma! You guys would love it! (I’ll get you back to Oregon yet… 😉 ) The snakes reminded me of my late-teen years when I spent most of my time ranch sitting in my rural area…… I actually was willing to stay at one place that had your typical horses and fowl….. and about a DOZEN snakes with their living dinner- mice. And two tarantulas. I was much braver in my younger years and couldn’t do it now! Eeek! Totally with you and how creepy they are, Nat! 🤢

I always have the hardest time finding postcards now when I travel! Thats usually one of the only things I ever look for and its starting to become super hard. I try to get one from each place I travel, I put my fav photo from my trip on the back and put them all together as a book :D
Ohhh that’s a great idea!!!! We try to get one for ourselves & write some fun memories on it but I LOVE the photo idea!!! Yea, we have the WORST time finding them... do you have any tips or tricks in finding them?! It’s been hard lately. Lol 😭🙄😂

One time I did just asked the employee if they had any and he had some old ones thrown in a desk drawer he let me have, but yeah, they're getting harder to find these days!

@@AdventuresofMattandNat I think some of the restaurants near us had started to get them but we are still in a lockdown here so all restaurants are closed. Hopefully when things open up there will cute little igloos haha xx

Hi Guys, Wow you guys are amazing. 50 states in 1 Year. Thank Your for this lovely video. How was the parking around Indianapolis. Like near Canal and the Garage food hall? Do we have to do the pre parking like using spot hero or there was ample street parking available (of course with meter parking). And parking near Monument Circle? Thank You once again.
Hey Jhulelal!! Thanks so much for watching! So sorry for the late reply! It's been a little crazy for us. But parking in Indy wasn't terrible, but definitely not great. I don't think we used Spot Hero there. There seemed to be ample parking everywhere that we went and we happened to snag a spot right at Monument Circle! Might have been beginners luck! Lol... I hope this helps!
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Indy 500 is held, would've had really cool post cards. They are also open in the winter for the raceway museum and track tour, which is a trip around the 500 in a bus. The have a Christmas light display that's pretty awesome. You should come back when there are things that the state is highlighted for. The Covered Bridge festival in the fall in Madison County and see the all the old time villages, it's beautiful. BTW I live the fact your collecting this past cards. My most treasured pieces from my childhood was getting past cards from my extremely talented, knowledgeable and adventurous grandma Jennie Black was the post cards she would send traveling the states. She did this after her 4 children where adults and she was in her early 50s Her handle "Little Momma" she was a tiny lady but super strong and strong willed, Probubly the Cherokee Indian blood that have her all her passion. She had been a bus driver and decided to drive semi trailers to the west coast and back so she could experience the great wide open. Her husband wasn't as lively lol. I still have some of the cards... my favorite is from South Dakota and it has a jackalope on it. She probubly got it from Loves...LOL sorry this was alot longer than I had expected initially

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum is actually the biggest children’s museum in the world.
The Indy 500 track and museum are open year round.
The views of the statute in the center were amazing. Do you use a drone for your aerial footage?
Thanks so much!! Most of the time we use our drone (Mavic Air 2) for aerial footage, but if laws don’t allow drones, we’ll use stock footage from StoryBlocks.

I think if you’re simple and haven’t been to major cities and Europe, Indy may be fine. But, the place is pretty dismal.
