  • This mansion is called Corinthian hall and was built by Robert A. Long in 1910. It's designed in the Beaux-Arts style. Long was a lumber Baron who owned vast acres of timberland in Washington State. The Longs were inspired by their grand trip to Europe and decorated the mansion to reflect what they had seen.
This house was opened as a museum in 1940. The rooms on the lower level have been restored to the original appearance in 1910. Upstairs houses the Kansas City museum.
I try to pronounce everything properly. I Really do try, so please forgive me if I don't pronounce something properly. :) Be Nice!

Another nice piece of work! It made me Google her kidnapping case and I’ve read virtually everything about it now. Would make a good Hollywood movie. Thank-you.

It would absolutely make a fantastic movie! I feel like she must’ve been one tough cookie! I’m glad that you liked the video and that it made you fall into a rabbit hole, lol!

You know Nell Donelly's house still stands today and is a tourist attraction too. It's not as grand as Corinthan Hall but it's not exactly a little shack either. Today the Toy and Miniature Museum on the UMKC campus is in the Nell Donnelly house.
BTW, Nelly Donnelly is a fascinating figure from Kansas City's history. Few people probably realize that Kansas City was once a big fashion capital in the US.

Wow! I had no idea that her house was still standing. Another site to add to my list! And you are right, people do not know how big Kansas City was in the fashion industry.

Thanks for sharing this video of beautiful homes, the Henry Ford mansion looks very similar to the last house you shared.

I would have loved to go inside those houses. Have you visited the Ford house? I have a feeling it was a very sparsely decorated house. Here in a few weeks we’re visiting an arts and crafts mansion and I found that house not as ornate as Corinthian Hall! I’ve heard that Ford liked simple living! I’d love to visit his home one day!

@@JulianGower I have visited the Ford house four times and it was decorated like he lived. It was above average for the common man but not overly rich. His estate was quite vast and had his own power house design by Thomas Edison.

I'm glad I found your channel! This is fabulous stuff here. I wonder if that button pannel may have been a type of notification, intercom system because the house is so big, maybe one beep means bring tea to area 5? Wow! I'd love to hear more about Nell! Life back in this time fascinates me, and I would have LOVED to see that Athena Parade! Great job, you're a wonderful guide, thank you and bless you.🌷

Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed this visit. I found it very interesting! I think you’re right that the box was some sort of intercom system. That house was humongous!

Many thanks! Beautiful house if slightly chilly - can't help wondering how it looked, furnished, in 1910.
p.s. Beaux Arts is pronounced more like "bozarr" than anything else.

I was very disappointed that they didn’t have more rooms set up to reflect the way it was when it was first built. And thanks for telling me how to pronounce beaux arts. I had no idea. I have been saying it wrong this whole time.

When is Corinthian Hall going to be open again? Are the renovations almost completed?
