Hi Titus, dad's "inleiding tot de verwondering" has been published in English as "The philosophy of wonder" in 1972

Beste Daan, wat bijzonder dat deze video jou bereikt heeft. Dank voor je comment, ik zal de Engelse titel checken. Je vader heeft een prachtig boek geschreven. (En wel meer dan één, maar die andere heb ik nog niet gelezen)

In the first ten minutes I got such a strong feeling of... well, it's as if I've been allowed to hang out with the advanced class... the cool guys... the masters of their craft. I sit here quietly, having my mind opened and stretched... and relishing every minute of it. Top quality time well spent. 🙏😊

What you are describing about wonder is exactly how I approached homeschooling. We sat in nature doing watercolor, never naming any of the things we painted, except what our imaginations told us would be a good name. Wonderful memories.

I am an artist and art teacher in California. My father and sister-in-law come from the Netherlands. Arieke and my brother live in Switzerland now. Your videos have been so inspirational; thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and techniques. I will continue to follow you. Your paintings are amazing!

Great tip; I'm going to try the 'not looking at the subject to get the tone' tip. Thanks for sharing. Also love the remark about making do with the colours that yu have available (limited palette); I grab a helpful colour too easily sometimes.
PS The tourquoise against the (Van DIjk?) brown gives a very nice feel in the paintings of your atelier.

Hi Titus. Since this is my first time commenting this year, let me start by saying Happy New Year. For many years I have been intrigued by the creative process of all creatives whose art, music, writing, etc I thoroughly enjoy. You have become one such artist who I always look forward to seeing on Friday. Today I've decided to start taking notes so I can go back and be reminded of something you say that I want to be sure to remember. There's a lot.😀 I didn't think that I would have any favorites of you painting until your first self-portrait. I don't know why. Maybe it's because it was the first time of seeing someone painting themselves. In any case, I'm so glad you did another one here.
I love your honesty and transparency with your creative process. I'd rather you show the mess and chaos along with the changes and successes. You always have my attention and I'm looking forward to seeing you and the other artist painting each other and of course, talking about art. Two Masters at work/play.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your adventure. Your journey.🎨

The fellow who commented that the window looked like a painting rather than a window was so right! And your solution to lighten the window was perfect! Now in both paintings, the window is obviously a window! I so enjoy watching you paint. 😊

To be astonished in a positive way.. About so many things. I am astonished everyday day in my work with handicapped children. Also I paint a little. I like your thoughts about being astonished. Stupor Mundi.. Das Staunen der Welt.. Über die Welt. About motives we see.. Have a nice weekend. Everybody here I wish a nice weekend 🙏🌄

So true Titus about how to push back certain subjects to create a better perspective on our work and the inability of a photo to capture all the pixels or even a photo of our paintings to recreate all the nuances and truly see the results of our work. I didn’t mention it but had noticed the same thing in your painting but chose to speak about your other painting. Shame on me. We all employ those methods to know how to guide the viewer’s eyes and sometimes our own perspective might need just a short break to think about it. It is very encouraging to have other artists’ collaboration because it helps all of us to move forward. I don’t hesitate to share mine with others likewise because it is the same issue. And then there are some who might never be convinced that a building is straight because the trim of every surrounding building is over it and casts their own shadows on the building that is as true as the straightest tree and completely level building well then I don’t mention my thoughts. But we get it. I will be upfront more likewise. Also I just simply had been exhausted for these last 3 weeks due to health reasons but continue to work from home. Thank you for the podcasts again and I appreciate your honesty as we all do if we are truly trying to move forward with our craft. I do paint from memory and recreate compositions but am a bit slower now due to my physical limitations. You have a lovely group of subscribers who care and again I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and is able to relax 😊

Again an amazing video. Forever fascinated by the processes of creativity. Such interesting contemplations and it brings out the discovery of new ways of doing things and that is always a good thing. Painting is definitely about thinking, seeing and looking. You have demonstrated this again in this video. Looking forward to your next video. Happy painting!

As you were explaining what the camera does to a photo and the distortion of color, value etc... Can this be corrected to a point using say Photoshop. And will this make it easier to do the painting. You are an experienced painter and know the pitfalls when using camera. You can make the necessary adjustements as you paint but for less experienced painters maybe using Photoshop would be usefull. What do you think?

I took sme pictures of the most unbelievably moody yet colourful sky early evening with my phone. It was a sad disappointment as the phone re-interpreted the scen vey differently. I'm upset as I might never see such a sky again.

    Hello, love your content!
For me, numbering your videos in the title makes me less eager to engage and click on the video, like I subconsciously feel like I have to watch all those videos before this one.
    Hope the feedback is helpful

Take it as a painting diary. I love the concept of numbering them. Surely makes things easier for everyone who started from the middle and wondering what was the first video.

I started following Titus very soon, maybe he was at his fifteen video, and I found there has been a continuous evolution both in his way of showing his work and also in his creative process ( this second aspect is specially interesting for me, also divided between commission work and self production). I find the numbering system very useful for viewers to be able to learn about his pathway. I'd like to take the opportunity to warmly thank Titus for letting us visit his artist life
