  • There are many rules for finding a good composition. But what is a composition and what's perfect? In my opinion it's more important to rely on a feeling. You feel it's right. This is how rules were made!

I enjoyed this video my friend. I so appreciate stopping by your studio, sharing a coffee or tea, and chatting with you. Yes, I do this whenever a new video hits RUclips! It's very much like seeing a friend or a sibling. Thank you for your efforts in bringing us all together. I encourage you to continue along this life passage. It fits you!

Gray is such a romantic color. The watercolor in vertical format with the subject of the bridge, when you presented it to us on the easel, I said: "Oh! Wow. I love when you share with us your vision and your emotions with the watercolor , from your corner of the planet, Titus. This takes me on a journey. Thank you. Absolutely, the points of warm colors in the composition of the first watercolor accentuate the depth of the shades of gray. The reflections on the water are magnificent.

Thank you Titus. Your watercolor paintings are wonderful. Your interpretation and addition of a bright color brings the eye to a focal point. Well done.

Titus I love how many of your analogies for processes in painting mirror those I experience while programming. I look forward to your water and boat paintings. I really enjoy your descriptions and how you present the story behind the paintings.

This new painting with the yellow coat and the cadmium orange sunscreen, it is truly an incredible one! I feel the life into this piece more than others that you have done in the past. It is exquisite and I do like the change in your painting style in recent months. This free time you have is serving you really well. Keep on experimenting with subjects, because you are doing an incredible job!!!

What a joy to see you tonight. I had Total Knee Replacement surgery this week, and so sitting down with your video this evening is such a reassuring return to my routine... a comfort in a week of excitement, trauma and pain. I particularly enjoyed your rendering of the fence as you were doing it. Actually the whole video was a delight and a tonic! Bless you and thank you Titus 😊🙏

Thank you. I so enjoy your videos. They have a wonderful balance of dialogue, aesthetics, teaching, & quiet painting. I find them peaceful & insightful. Watching you paint is very meditative. I wonder if the English word you were looking for, to describe this bridge view, might be ‘gritty’? It’s a real & down to earth view rather than romanticised or pretty.

I was telling my piano coach about you, about how loose you work, and that in my long illustration career I never took risks and later my paintings were still pretty tight. So in my retirement my huge learning curve is to finally 'let go' and trust the magic of my inner musician, like you do with your friend, watercolor paint.

I totally understand your fascination with watercolor. The play between control and chance. You love this and yet when I saw your artist portrait paintings you switched to oils. I’m guessing you needed to have more control, especially since you needed to have something done in a relatively short amount of time. I would like to suggest that you give oils a second chance. It doesn’t have to be so controlled. There are ways to get similar effects with diluted paint, using larger brushes than required, sanding back using sandpaper to name a few. I have recently started playing with water mixable oils which are great as they are odorless and easy to clean with soap and water. Buy some colours and play. I know you’re always searching for new ways to explore yourself. It’s how we all are.

I dare to give you my visión on the composition of the first watercolor.
The view travels very freely from beginning of the fence, crosses the Bridge and stays there, in front of the Orange awning It is balanced whith the yellow vest and i return to Orange the view stops at them and does not allow us to go towards the pespective of the background .
My suggestion is to lower the Orange an yellow tones whith some shadow and free the composition.
I Hope my suggestion does not offend you It is made with affection.

Don't you want to develop yourself through free work? Doesn't that make more sense when you look at your own growth? You once took the step to become a full-time artist and now you can choose the next challenge. Give yourself more time for free work and create a sales website for it instead of a new site for commission boat paintings. Isn't that what you really want?
