    Thank you 🙏🏻 Judi!! I’ve watched a lot of videos on this topic, but yours is the first one that gave a solution at the source. I don't recommend fish oil for a number of reasons.) I usually take two a day, so I take one with breakfast and one with supper. I hope they work as well for you as they did for me! Thanks for this! I'll try the omega 3 you mentioned. I take fish oil pills, but I think the ones you linked would work better. My dry eyes dry out quickly, so I have to put drops several times daily. I'm so exhausted with the itching, blurry vision and stinging. Sometimes they water, but the itching and drying out fast is the biggest issue. I'm afraid even leaving the house without my drops. I've tried heat masks, drops, eye wipes, ointment. I just want relief. Thank you again for sharing what helped you :)

      Hi Diane! Thanks for watching and sharing! I truly hope this helps for you. If you are already taking fish oils, you may need something else. Please check your diet to be sure you're getting enough vitamin A/beta-carotene. I do NOT suggest you take beta-carotene or vitamin A supplements, but rather look at your foods. Are you eating enough colorful fruits and vegetables? Not eating enough of those valuable foods may also contribute to your problem. Dark leafy greens, pumpkin, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots, red bell peppers, cantaloupe, romaine lettuce, spinach, turnip and mustard greens, mangoes, and other foods like these are all high in beta-carotene. Getting enough vitamin A is CRITICAL for the eyes. I have a hunch that this may be part of your problem. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions. Best wishes to you :)

    Hi Judi, thank you again for this. I posted the other day. I have my pharmaceutical strength fish oils but have also been using artificial drops about 5-6 times a day, eye wipes, and reducing screen time. I have also been taking Vit D and evening primrose oil and B12. Increasing eggs, avocado and salmon. Hormones can effect eyes and I am in perimenopause. One thing I want to mention is that if any of your viewers have rosacea they should discuss with their dr the possibility of them having Ocular rosacea. The two can go hand in hand. There are a number of triggers for rosacea and you can have one or the other or both rosacea and ocular rosacea. I have rosacea and I did some research that found doxycycline is effective treatment. My dr started me on this 6 days ago. It should take 4-6 weeks to improve if the problem is ocular rosacea. This however has symptoms like lots of conditions- dry eyes, stinging, fatigue, burning, photophobia redness. Anyway the interesting thing is 1 day ago I started to see a lot of improvement. I’m not there yet though. What I did when I saw massive over night improvement was listening to binaural beats for physical healing. These are sound frequencies that resonate with our cells. I found this on you tube. I recommend Subscribing to Good Vibes.. Binaural’ . I am heaps better with the combo of everything I’m doing. Oh and more water. Lastly I am going to say what I think triggered my eye issue. I had my first Covid vax and had flu symptoms for a week. Then the eyes started . That was 4 weeks back. This is not to discourage people getting vaxed but what I will say make sure you are as healthy as you can be when you are vaxed. I’m sm worried about my 2nd dose in 2 weeks. I had blood tests to check for autoimmune disease markers and thankfully all good. These past 4 weeks have been hell, and I was seriously worried I could not work properly again (on a screen 8 hrs a day) nor enjoy simple things like watch a movie without eye strain and irritation. I’m a single parent, only 47 and I was petrified for my career and lifestyle. Judy thank you for the video again. Blessings!! I was so motivated with your fish oils results xxxx

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  2 года назад

      Hi Christine! First...I did not suggest fish oil. Rather, I use algae (vegan) omega 3 DHA/EPA supplements. There is a difference. I do not suggest fish oils because of their high levels of mercury in them. So, I REALLY needed to clarify this one point.
      Secondly, you sound like a carbon copy of me. I suffered from VERY serious rosacea for MANY years. In fact, most of my life. I have been through many years of antibiotic treatment, all to no avail. I too had ocular rosacea, so what you described was right on with my condition (For the record, I cleared up my rosacea long before suffering with dry eyes like I discussed in the video). After many years of suffering and getting worse and worse despite countless doctors' treatments, I found the answer for myself. It's all a matter of what you put in your mouth. Literally. First I tested my body's pH and I was extremely acidic. So, with that information, I actively pursued whatever it took to correct that problem. It took me a year alone just to wean myself off of the antibiotics. (My skin was addicted and would flare up even worse when I omitted the antibiotics. However, over time and with persistence, I managed to wean myself off of them, and it was the best thing I could have done for myself.) I turned my diet around to greatly increase whole plant foods that were alkalizing, and greatly reduce/omit foods that were acidifying. Over time, my skin improved in remarkable ways...all without medications. I wrote a blog post about it so I could document what I did and share my experience with others along with the tips I learned along the way. Maybe this will help you... www.judiklee.com/2014/07/23/rosacea-no-more-meds-and-my-skin-is-clear/ In more recent years I have found yet further ways to help cleanse my body and my skin is clearing up even further in ways I didn't know it could. So literally, the answer lies in what you put in your mouth...REALLY.
      I too tried binaural beats. It may have helped me some, but I didn't notice obvious results like you did. I'm glad you found benefit in them :)
      I don't blame you for being cautious about vaccines, especially with your reactions to the first one. You're in a real dilemma there, so my heart goes out to you on which way to go regarding the vaccine. It's a serious individual choice.
      I hope all this has helped you in some special way. Thanks for watching and sharing your story. Best wishes to you and yours. Stay well :)

      @@JudiintheKitchen thank you for your response. Yes you are perfectly right about the algae based suggestion in the video. I think I was ultra stressed when I went to the pharmacy and picked up fish oils but they are very high quality ones (I just checked on the pack- practitioner issued and very very low mercury). I will swap over to your suggestion however because it’s safer. My skin rosacea has never been very bad and I’ve used doxycycline for a brief period for a bit of a flair a few months back. I will take note about what you said about the antibiotic usage.. I agree with this. I am going to clean up my food more to reduce acidity in the body. Thanks Judi. Thank you for caring so much 😚

I am going to order some of the vegan supplements you discussed. I have been taking the Nordic Naturals brand of fish oil as suggested by my eye doctor. I am hoping this algae form will do the trick! Hi Michele! I truly hope they help you! It's always worth a try. Since you've been taking fish oil, I would really like to know if these make a difference for you. If not, I suggest you take a serious look at your diet to see if you're getting enough beta-carotene or vitamin A. Dry eyes can also be caused by a serious vitamin A deficiency. So, if the algae epa/dha supplements don't do it for you, please check back with me if you're not sure about your diet. I can help with that one, for sure. Interesting! After nearly 30 years of suffering from dry eye myself I have come to the conclusion that the problem is a secondary inflammatory response triggered by H pylori present in the stomach. Eating such things like Mustard, black pepper, coffee, and loads of other various spices will trigger the dry eye ‘flare-up’ for me. This inflammatory response may not manifest right away, but may take about a day to show up… which is why it took soooo long to figure this connection out! This was just a theory I had, so I went to get tested for H. Pylori, and I was positive. (No big surprise, because it is believed that nearly 70% of the world’s population is also infected). So why doesn’t everyone suffer from dry eye? Because there are several different strains of the H Pylori bacteria, and it is just a theory, but that these different strains cause the body to react in different ways. My grandfather, who raised me, also had burning and hurting eyes- I just assumed I inherited this from him… however, my eyes were just fine until about the age of 15! I remembered him putting cayenne pepper in a glass of water a few times a day, and drinking it. That is what I do now- Why? Because it actually helps the stomach, and temporarily inhibits the effects of inflammation in the stomach. I haven’t treated the H Pylori yet, simply because I am dealing with a myriad of other health problems, and just can’t justify taking all those antibiotics atm. I have tried to share my theory with other ‘dry eye’ sufferers, and they just blow it off instantly! Most days I am fine if I stay hydrated, meticulously watch my diet, and put caster oil in my eyes before bed. Some day I will get rid of the H Pylori… but until then, I cope, but with a new arsenal of knowledge about what works. I will try your recommendation as well! In my honest opinion it seems like most of the ‘dry eye’ community is totally unconcerned with finding a cure, and would rather learn about what drops will work best to treat the condition. I’m glad to hear that there is a truth seeker out there besides myself!

      Hi John! Thank you so much for sharing your history regarding dry eyes and H. pylori! VERY interesting and something I hadn't come across before. This intrigues me, because I have suspected (years ago) that I was overloaded with H. Pylori, but for other reasons (rosacea). I will look into this. Again, I appreciate your sharing and I'm glad you found a way to cope with your health situation. It seems we ALL have something to cope with in one way or another. I guess it's part of being human. Yes, I agree that many people look for a simple whatever to stop a symptom without trying to address the bottom line. Looking for the cause of a problem has been an interest of mine since I was a child...really! And that's never stopped, but only gotten stronger over the years. Hi Julie! Thank you for watching and asking! For me, the vegan omega 3 supplements did the trick. I tried the warm compresses and that did nothing for me. I've even had an eye doctor say he quit suggesting that since they do little for most people. This is why I did the video. It may not be the total answer for everyone, but it worked SO well for me (and still does) that I felt compelled to share the results with others. Another thing that can cause eyes to be dry is not enough carotenoids in the diet (vitamin A). It is NOT advisable to take beta-carotene supplements. it's best to eat lots of fruits and vegetables high in the carotenoids. Simple...look for color in the plant foods. Carrots, peaches, plums, red/black grapes, dark green leafy vegetables, cantaloupe, butternut squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, broccoli...get the picture? Load up on them too and hopefully that will do the trick for you, or at least help. I hope this helps and that you can find an answer that works for you! Hi Judi, thanks again for the interesting video!!
    May I ask, did you also get your tear ducts checked by a doctor? If they are clogged, there are ways to open them. And then taking omega 3 on top may help some of us here.

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  3 года назад +1

      Hi C.C.! Thanks for watching and commenting! Well before I took the omega-3 supplements I had my eyes examined. The doc didn't say absolutely that I had clogged tear ducts, but did suggest I compress with a warm wash cloth. I tried that numerous times and for me, it did nothing. That's when I discovered the omega-3 supplements...after many "moons" of looking like I was crying all the time, they worked. Since then, I've spoken with other eye doctors about the same topic. One commented that he stopped suggesting the warm compresses because they did little good for most people, and that same doctor backed me up on the omega-3 supplements, which he also now recommends. Now, all that is not saying that clogged ducts aren't the problem for some people. I'm sure they are. However, from what I've learned, I believe there are far more people who are short on omega-3 fats than who have clogged ducts. So, it's worth trying both methods and seeing what works for you (or any individual). Thanks for the input on this topic! Best wishes :)

Suggestion...to really know if anything specifically is helping you, take one supplement at a time to test it out. If you notice a change, you'll know for sure it was that item. If you take a number of new things at once and notice a change, then you won't know for sure which one did the trick. Of course, a combination of supplements may also be the key. It takes experimentation. Hopefully you'll find relief very soon and be able to get those plugs out! Blessings to you and yours :)

    It always strikes me in just my right eye and always after a period in which I lapse from my fairly rigid low carb diet, hence I refer to it as "carb eye". So, for my own version of dry eye, it seems a liver / vitamin A / vitamin B12 issue that only improves with getting blood glucose levels down again and removing rancid fried stuff from my diet.

      Hi! I take algae-based vegan Omega-3 capsules...the amount recommended on the package. It's usually two a day. I take one at a time with either breakfast or lunch, then the other at supper time. That's it! I have taken a variety of brands and found pretty much the same results no matter what brand I take. I have links to the brands I've taken in the description box below the video. Because I get the same results no matter what brand I take, I usually buy whichever brand has the best price at the moment. It's usually ZenWise brand. It's the 6th link down from the top. Note that I have no affiliation with any of the brands. I don't do that so people will (hopefully) trust my words as being true. (I am not swayed by dollars from potential sales). I take the capsules consistently and have been doing so since I started taking them before I recorded the video. With that, I'm no longer bothered with dry eyes. I certainly hope this helps you with your condition! It has worked wonders for me. Thank you for watching and asking :) Best wishes to you and yours :)

Getting over the initial hurdle is the biggest thing, then just take some as a maintenance dosage. At least that's what I've done and it has worked for me. After 5 eye doctors, multiple visits to eye specialist (driving hours to see "the best supposed specialist") having an ocular culture test completed to the tune of $10,000 (I paid $1,000) and 1,000's of dollars for eye drops, vitamins, wipes, sprays that did not work only being told the same story "Dry eye" because most eye doctors have no idea (horomones) play such a HUGE role in a our body functions (it's a synergistic effect) needless to say I was very sceptical about trying "another supposed vitamin remedy" but thought why not try it and see....and WOW, WOW, WOW, am I forever THANKFUL I did.
    Even though I'm only on my 2nd day (1st day I took 2 as recommended and today 2 in the a.m. and 2 tonight and the difference ALREADY is unbelievable. My extremely red, blurry, watery, burning, itchy, runny, strained ocular surface eyes is almost miraculous... I'm blown away. SO AMAZINGLY THANKFUL to you for sharing this.
    As I said above I'm only on my 2nd day (3rd dose) but the difference 95% amazingly better, what a difference, it truly is almost unbelievable.
    THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU is not enough to tell you regarding how appreciative I am for you sharing this. I know it's still early in my taking the vitamins but the difference in only 3 doses is really truly AMAZING.

My eyes have been so dry, with many of the symptoms you've described. I just saw my optometrist 4 days ago and was told my left cornea is scratched to the point where there's a small hole in it...Off to the eye specialist I go. So while this has worked for you, it may not work for everyone. I've literally gone through a dozen bottles of fish oil, all to no avail...In the meantime, I am using 2 kinds of preservative free eye drops, I-Drop every hour and Systane gel drops at night. I'm looking into the benefits of using castor oil (some eye drops have it in the ingredient list). No, not putting the drops IN my eyes, but gently rubbing on my eye lids and lashes...at least until I get to the eye specialist. Thanks for the video, I'm sure it will help a lot of people.

    Just noting that while this may help some, it does not help everyone. I have the same problem Judi has, have had it for roughly five years, and it has gradually become worse. During and before that time, I have been taking prescription fish oil (omega 3 fatty acids) to help with coronary issues and triglyceride levels, 4 grams per day standard dosage. The prescription form is a purer and more controlled version of fish oil, as opposed to the highly variable product in typical OTC supplements. As I said, my condition has only grown worse, not better. Try Judi's approach if you haven't already, and I hope it helps you. Just be aware this is not necessarily the total answer to this problem. It's a complicated condition with multiple possible causes, and I haven't found a medical professional yet that claims to have a cure.

    Hi Judy,
    Thanks for sharing this information, I found it very informative and helpful! I used to have dry eyes only when I wore contacts, but now my dry eyes have evolved to dry eyes even when I’m just wearing my glasses. I’m not sure what caused the sudden change since I don’t wear contacts very often, but perhaps it was just a lack of omega-3 in my system and screen time. For the last week I’ve been suffering with dry eyes and it’s caused inflammation in my right eye. This sudden dry eye problem has only affected my right eye mostly, but is starting to affect my left eye as well. My optometrist said I should use lubricating eye drops to fix my problem, however I have heard using eye drops can cause your eyes to become dependent on the lubrication. I’m always looking for natural ways or vitamins to fix any issues I have and have not used eye drops yet. Unfortunately my eyes seem to be getting dryer, so I’ll probably have to refer to using eye drops until my orders of Vitamin A, Omega-3 supplements and other vitamins come. My question for you is, have you used eye drops before and if so I was told I should figure out what caused my eye dryness( like screen time ) to help me decide which eye drops would work best for my condition?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  3 года назад +2

      Hi Jaime! Thanks for watching and sharing your story! Yes, I absolutely HAVE tried eye drops...just about any one that you can name (all over the counter items). For me, at most, they only provided temporary relief. Nothing to brag about at all. I had been to a couple different eye doctors and their recommendations (of hot wash cloths to try to open clogged tear ducts) didn't work. Apparently that was not the problem. That's why I dug deeper into the cause rather than just treating the symptoms. For me, the answer was the omega-3 fats. At the time, I was hoping I got enough of the omega-3s from walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds. I ate my share of them, but apparently it just wasn't enough for me. Hence, I tried the supplements. One eye doctor even commented that she stopped recommending the hot wash cloths because it never seemed to help anyone. She backed me up on the DHA/EPA supplements and said it was a good move. I opted for the vegan ones, derived from sustainable algae for a number of reasons (ie...sustainability, no mercury from fish (and I'm a vegan), and we're needlessly "farming" the oceans dry of fish). It worked for me.
      You will need to do a little experimentation to determine what the bottom line is for you. I shared my story in this video because the results were so profound. And after suffering so long and trying so many things, this was the only thing that actually corrected the problem from the source. Eye drops can only be thought of as a temporary relief from the symptoms. But your body is not suffering from a deficiency of the drops. Use whichever ones provide you relief. But I would not stop there until I found the true cause of the problem. THEN you won't need the eye drops after addressing the cause. As long as your doctor said you don't have some type of infection in your right eye, nor a scratch on the cornea or something like that, then hopefully this is something you can resolve yourself. Taking omega-3 oils (DHA/EPA) will do you no harm. It's worth a try.
      Also, Vitamin A is a good move too (like you ordered). If you're short on Vitamin A in your diet, it can seriously affect the eyes. If you eat plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables, they you are probably getting enough Vitamin A. Eating lots of fruit and vegetables is important for many reasons. IF YOU ARE A SMOKER, it is not wise to take beta-carotene (Vitamin A precursor) supplements. Years back, a research study testing the effects of beta-carotene supplements on smokers and non-smokers was actually stopped early because it was found to actually promote lung cancer in the smokers. It did not harm the non-smokers, to the best of my recollection. So, beta-carotene supplements are not often recommended for that reason. If you're not a smoker, then you should have no worries. I hope my long answer helps you out and answers your questions sufficiently. Do keep in touch, as I'm truly concerned for people with this problem and am eager to help in any way I possibly can. I would love to know if the supplements help you out. Give it a little time. [Note a disclaimer... I am not a doctor, nor do I pretend to be. I am a nutritionist who cares about people and am ready to help in whatever way I can!] Best wishes to you and yours :)

    I just tried this over the last two weeks and it worked. I was putting in eye drops every 10mins. Now once a day. Before the omega 3's kick in, you'll need hylo-forte lubricating eye drops. @@Queef_Storm Sure! My eyes are fine with no issues to speak of. I continue to take my vegan omega-3 capsules daily (2 per day, as per the instructions on the bottle). The omega-3's were apparently the bottom line for me. Based on my training and personal research, if they don't address the problem, it's possible there is a vitamin A deficiency. In that case, it's VERY wise to start eating more beta-carotene-rich foods, such as pumpkin, winter squash, carrots, kale and other leafy greens, mangoes...any and all foods that are high in beta-carotene. It is NOT wise to take beta-carotene supplements, because they can be harmful to some people (primarily smokers). Because I eat a LOT of colorful fruits and vegetables, I knew that was not the bottom line for me...hence, the omega-3 (preformed DHA/EPA) supplements. I hope this helps!! Hi! Sorry you are suffering from dry eyes! It's no fun. I've used many different brands of algae oil capsules and found pretty much the same relief from them all. I take the number recommended on the bottle. The brand I've purchased most was the one at the bottom of the list I included in the description box under the video. But I have used all of those brands. The only reason I have reordered the one on the bottom of the list so much is because of the price...it's usually the most reasonable. I hope this helps!! Cellphones, laptops and computers give us dry eye. Everyone is on their phones day and night. Reduce your cellphone time until your eyes return to normal. Take a fish oil supplement, flaxseed or an algae form of omega. The cellphones unfortunately created this nasty nightmare. If you take a high dose of omega you could have stomach issues from it. Do high dose for quicker relief and move to lower dose for maintance or start eating tuna a few times a week.

      Hi Jason! Thanks for watching and sharing! Electronic devices may be responsible for some cases of dry eye syndrome, but I doubt it's the cause of all cases, mine in particular. Also, I don't advocate taking high dosages of any type of fat, omega 3's included. I always suggest taking what is recommended on the bottle. Thanks for contributing :)

    I once read a forum where the remedy for dry eyes was the rub one eyelid against the other. The way you do this is try to pinch down your lids with thumb and forefinger, pull away from eyeball, and slowly move ghe finger against the thumb. Apparently this helps get the grit out of the ducts and cures the dry eye. Be careful not to rub to hard on the eyeball itself

      If you tear ducts are clogged, this kind of thing might help. For a lot of people the ducts continue clogging. For them, the relief is temporary. A similar idea is to use warm, moist cloth compresses. Both can be done. Sometimes the condition will clear naturally when you do this, but not always.

    • @JudiintheKitchen

      @@ligafftheindifferent3495 Hi! Thanks for sharing! Yes, many eye doctors recommend warm, moist compresses to the eyes to unclog ducts. The eye doctor in my former town recommended that. Sorry to say it did nothing for me. My new eye doctor (in my new town) said he once recommended that, but stopped because he rarely saw it work for people. I'm not saying that it won't work. It may for some people. Just saying it did nothing for me, unfortunately. But it's always worth a try. Take care :)

      @@medhikasingh6327 Yes. By the way, I have perfected my personal methods. Rather than use a warm cloth, I put my head in the sink by the tap and use a cloth to redirect the water. I put my eye directly in the stream of water and make the water quite warm. I open the eye and blink too. The idea is to get the heat directly on the eyelids and ducts. The blinking may not matter, but the idea is to loosen and melt any blockage. Keep at it for 5-10 minutes Episodes that lasted for days or weeks seem to be over in a day or less. If you are feeling pain, you should turn the heat down, but you should have the heat right at that edge.

    Thank you for your reply Judi! I read that Anthony William suggested Spirulina daily, however, Spirulina has been known to have neurotoxins in it, so I'm not sure what to look for in the store. I'm reading your reply and researching juicers. Thank you!

      Hi Snow Bike! I appreciate your following up on the things I said :) If you're in doubt about spirulina, you could opt to take the brand Anthony William suggests...Vimergy (it's expensive to me). All that is certainly up to you. Best wishes in shopping for a juicer! There are a lot (too many) available to choose from. If nothing else, take a serious look at the slow masticating juicers. They will do the best job for you. Any brand of that type of juicer is a better option than the high speed type, in my opinion. You'll get more juice from your food and it will be a better quality when you use a slow juicer. Take care and let me know if I can be of help in any way :)

      Hi Ellen! Yes...they are all similar. Honestly, I've taken a variety of brands (as you saw in the Description Box) and I got about the same results from all of them. I simply took the recommended amount as per the bottle. I usually let price be my guide. With that in mind, I've taken the ZenWise brand more than the others, simply because of the price (usually being the lowest). Hi Judi...
    How many capsules per day should we consume and what should be the omega, dha and epa quantity in mg?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  2 года назад +2

      Excellent questions! I simply have taken whichever brand I could get for the best deal at the moment. Then I take the recommended number of capsules per the bottle's instructions. The amount of EPA and DHA varies between brands. I have had fine results with literally any brand I've taken. With that all being said, if your eyes are in bad shape, you may shop for one with higher amounts in them. (Everyone's situation is unique, so I can't say exactly how much would be right for you.) Sometimes they have as much as 1,000mg total omega-3 in their recommended serving (usually 2 capsules). I can only suggest that you take what is recommended on the bottle. You can opt to take more, but I would only do that temporarily as a precaution, so you don't overdo on them. I hope this helps. Try whatever brand you can buy and follow the directions on the bottle. Hopefully that will be enough for you. Take care and thanks for watching :)

      Hello! So far, so good! My green eyes are very sensitive. I’m allergic to mold, oak and mountain cedar. In San Antonio, Mold is almost always high. Today we went to a baseball game and had a hard time. My eyes burned, but no watering. I’ve even been trying a little eye makeup now and then. I have my second treatment this Friday. My optometrist has a very good machine and the treatment included heat. As hot as I can handle it. As a bonus, the deep frown wrinkle is 80% gone!!! My neck looks better, too! I might buy a $200 machine that my former student has. She owns a salon and does makeup, and now radio frequency for skin tightening. I’m not sure if her machine uses heat. I’ll find out!

      @JudiintheKitchen  2 года назад

      Hi Kim! I can't speak specifically for any one brand. I checked out Kirkland and only found fish oils. Personally, I don't recommend fish oil because of the potential mercury content. That's why I advocate the algae based omega-3 preformed EPA/DHA supplements. The algae is where the fish get their omega-3 fatty acids and there's far less issue with any possible mercury in the algae based supplements. If you found algae-based omega-3s in Kirkland brand, then great! Thanks for watching :)
