What does Kingdom Come: Deliverance mean to Czechs?

- Kingdom Come: Deliverance isn’t just another medieval RPG. For us Czechs, it means much more-it’s a game that introduced our history to the world. But why is that so important to us? That’s what I want to discuss in this video.
#kingdomcomedeliverance #warhorsestudios #medieval
I apologize for the terrible audio at the beginning and end. After two years of making videos, I should probably finally get a better microphone 😅
I’m a bit bummed that I forgot to mention some things in the video, but it happens almost every time that you only realize it afterward. I wanted to also mention that many people in the Czech Republic really appreciate how beautifully Warhorse depicted our nature and countryside and how they made many places famous that foreign tourists would otherwise never know about or visit.
Yes, the nature simply feels like home.
Not the Czech Republic, but Czechia.
@@LArSON1942 You realize you are telling a native of the country what the name of the country is, right?
i guess youll have to make a part 2 after the second game's release ^-^
I don't care about detailed quality, but uneaven volume (especially too low at some parts when you were speaking) was really bugging me.
Poland has Witcher, Czechia - KCD, Ukraine - Stalker, I'm from Lithuania and can't wait to play this bad boy, congrats, also one day I'll visit Prague
Latvia has Golden Idol games

Ukraine also has the Metro franchise which is great, never played Stalker actually, thought Metro was more famous?
@@witcher-86Yup. I feel like the times of Jogaila Jagiełło (Yogaila in Lithianian) and king Jadwiga would be interesting because there is the first time question of religious freedom was brought up in international courts. So sad our game industry stopped being looked uppon (at least somewhat) by our politicians only recently (probably around the release of the first KCD). The general public is having even worse outlook on games. Those proud Czechs are mosty young and older gamers.
I'm a HEMA practitioner from the USA and first picked up KCD because it was in my wheelhouse of interests.
Afterwards I fell down the rabbit hole of Czech history and for a game to be so good that non-czech people suddenly feel patriotic for a country they've never visited is wild to me
There is a fine bit of information missing in this presentation that might be interesting for a fellow HEMA practitioner. Here in czech we have a Slovakin Master swordsman who reconstructed swordsman martial arts from a book by Johannes Liechtenauer. Kingdom come combat system is made by his students (and my master I have to proudly add). Thats why is feels like home for us who had a sword in hand.
As a hobby historian and gamer, KCD made me travel around Czechia last summer, and now I have 12 books about the country at home, even though I'm Swedish. Amazing game and an even more amazing country.

It's interesting that at the time of KCD, England was considered less than Bohemia in terms of importance.
And before WW2 Czechia was also pretty important like 5th biggest industry. Soviets changed it here pretty significantly later, we should have been big boys :)
@@DaweSlayer Refusal of the Marshall Plan and the long-term socialist destruction of the czech industry (which is still ongoing) has irreversibly crippled Czech Republic more than probably all of the germanic occupation combined, which is truly a margin considering how destructive they were.

I am taking my mum to Czechia this may. Normally, we'd be sticking to prague like all the tourists. But thanks to the game, we are going to take a few detours around the countryside as well!
Highly recommend visiting some castles in the central region! So much more to see than just Prague, and with far fewer tourists. Karlstejn, Krivoklat, Kokorin, Kost, Houska, Bezdez.. to name a few. The city of Kutna Hora is also a gorgeous historical site, though rather touristy as well. Many of the castles are hidden away in the forests and hills and walking up there is an experience of its own. Lots of peaceful trails and beautiful scenery to adore!
Enjoy! We may be small, but we have tons of nice places to visit. Definitely don´t stick to prague, it is beatiful city but can get quite exhausting especially in tourist season.
Do not miss Český Krumlov. You will find yourself in a medieval fairy tale 🙂
Awesome vid. I never really knew much about the Czech Republic until KCD. Now it's easily on my top countries that I want to visit list! Very interesting history, gorgeous peaceful landscapes, & great people.

I even talk to a Czech guy online and exchange memes and try to learn each others languages
yeah its interesting to think that czech republic in the 15th century was not only a mix of ethnicities and smaller groups but also in terms of religion even if the majority was christianity
@themerchant9037 well it was pretty mixed but overall it have pretty distinct ethnic lines , the inland was mostly czech speaking (Majority)
the mountain border areas (basically what would later be called sudetenland but smaller in 15th century) was mostly german speaking from 13th century (Making around 20% of population).
Than you have other, non-Czech areas under bohemian crown :
Lusatia (wends "sorbs" + Saxons)
Silesia (Poles + Germans, + Czechs on southern part)
And some foreign small groups like Italians/French usually in town with commerce.
You cooked with this one! I'm not even Czech but I felt patriotic watching this vidoe :D Especially the end made me think of the first video I watched by you (Europe needs better cultural representation) and it made me glad that the Americans haven't gotten a hold of Czech culture (yet). It can also be a blessing to be a small country with little international presence because it protects your history from being stripped down to its most marketable components. It's very heartwarming how Warhorse Studios persevered because Czech history was important enough for them to fight for!
P.S. The audio was totally fine for me :) Have a good day!
Thank you for such kind words ❤ I'm glad the video evoked the feeling I was trying to create 🙂

KCD like anything else from Czechia that reaches world recognition, is held as national treasure. We truly appreciate people from our country passionate enough to make impact on the world.
When I was in film school, my professors were in love with "Czech New Wave" movies from the 1960s, same as many critics today. So I would say the Czech film industry also had a big impact on the world. I don't know if Czech people know how famous their film industry is with film buffs outside of Europe or not
My great grandmother was from Bohemia. She would have been proud to know Czechia is becoming famous, even for a video game.
Kingdom Come Deliverance introduced me to a time period I didn’t really care for before. My two big passions are history and languages. Specifically early medieval Britain and Scandinavia. Due to that I learned Old English and still working on Old Norse. Although KCD is a bit later time period than I am usually interested in, thanks to the game it has become another of my big interests and got me to try to learn Czech. I even looked into the origins of Bohemia from Kosmas Pražský. It’s closer to the time periods I usually like and I learned about semi mythical figures like Krok, Libuše, and Přemysl Oráč.
The time period before Charles IV contains another maningful historical figure for us, which even suits your interest area. If you search saint Wenceslaus and house of Přemyslovci. He is said that he should be great-great-great-grandson of Přemysl Oráč and also was in the same house as was Wenceslaus IV and Sigismund´s grandmother.
Good luck with czech language its not easy one 😂👍.Cheers for your passion 🥳🍻

Skvělé, ale doporučuji vám opravdovou historii. Začněte třeba Velkou Moravou...
Historie mé krásné vlasti je bohatá.
The interview segment with Daniel Vavra about Otakar Vavra as one of his inspirations for KCD's visuals was really neat. Thank you for sharing with us non-Czech speakers!
Your last segment and editorial commentary on the constrast between Warhorse's conviction and the hollowness of commercially focused mainstream content is something I very much agree with. Audiences will recognize passion and skillfully told stories no matter whether they're set in Bohemia, England, or the Forgotten Realms. If a producer phones in a low effort story set in medieval England, it's not going to spark the kind of appreciation that something like KCD will. Just look at the King Arthur flavored movies that have flopped.
As an American who discovered the joys of medieval history 30+ years ago, I felt nerd-proud in those pre-Internet years to know a tiny bit about Jan Hus, Jan Zizka, the Hussite wars, and other topics. An old adventure/RPG game by Microprose called Darklands introduced me to a more accurate mixture of real history and unfiltered medieval myths and legends. But this was an interest I only shared with the books on my shelves, until in more recent years accurate and detailed medieval history has been popularized. It's amazing to see these topics get their time in the spotlight.
And yes, KCD definitely made me fall in love with its romanticized depiction of Bohemia's culture and countryside. After I got settled into the game, I stopped using fast travel, and have almost always ridden my horse or even jogged or walked on foot to travel around the towns and countryside. It felt almost sacrilegious to fast travel past all the buildings and forests that Warhorse had created as a love letter to this land and people. :D
There's a bench behind a cottage just outside of Rattay's upper castle gate. It overlooks the river to the north and you can see the lights of Ledetchko and the woodcutters' camp at night in the distance. I've spent more than a few sunsets on that bench as I eat dinner IRL.
I suppose the next logical step should be for me to actually create a themed tour of Czechia for myself IRL. Step Through History recently vlogged his KCD site visits on his channel. Really neat and chill sights to see.
Thanks for such a long and well-thought-out comment. It's always nice to see someone who already knew something about our history 🙂
@@dakaodo i never even realized fast travel existed in KCD until about 50 hours in lol. and even after then, I never used it because it didn't feel good
@@tj-co9go so you played half-Hadrcore without even realizing it 😂
You should definitely visit Czechia! Kutná Hora which is in the KCD 2 is beatiful.
I'm not surprised why Dan Vávra listed Sapkowski's Hussite Trilogy. For me, it was his books (and amazing radio play of it) that were a breakthrough that sparked my interest in the history and culture of Silesia and the Czech Republic. Since childhood, the history of the Middle Ages has been my greatest passion, but until that moment it was limited only to the history of my country (Poland), or maybe Scandinavia. After Sapkowski's books, long before the premiere of KCD, I discovered a completely new direction. Later, when I found out that a game about medieval Bohemia was being created, my mind was blown away. Thanks to KCD, I immersed myself even more in the history of the Czech Republic, I got to know Otakar Vávra's movies, I was in Horní Morava, I visited Skalní Město, I finally visited Prague and I was on Vítkov (to see huge arse'n'balls of Jan Žižka's horse lol). Even before my trip and before revealing KCD 2 to the world, I was wondering between Prague and Kutná Hora and the vicinity of Rattay, but I chose Prague anyway. It is possible that this year I will visit Český Ráj and of course Kutná Hora too, although I have a feeling that after the release of KCD 2 there will be many more tourists there than before!
By the way, does anybody know where can I watch "Proti všem" with at least English subs? I can't understand Czech so well yet, and only this movie is without subtitles.
Not sure where to watch Proti všem with English subtitles, sorry. I don't understand why we don't translate all our movies into English so the whole world can watch them.
As a Slovak I feel the same kind of proudness and happiness when it comes to international recognition of KCD and CZ/SK video gaming industry in general.
We share much of the same history, culture, humor, food, language and while there are some differences, there is enough there to feel some kind of brotherly love between our two nations.
That being said, I can't wait to sink my teeth into KCD 2 while listening to the glorious czech dubbing and Jan Valta's beautiful music.
Mate, I'd love if some big movie company adapted some of the works of your own Juraj Červenák! Easily one of my top 3 favourite fantasy authors!
This game has nothing to do with Slovakia. It's perhaps a recognition of Czech gaming industry. Not Slovak.
I visited Czech last summer and I just loved it there. Prague was amazing but when I went out into the countryside it is just beautiful. It reminded me of when I was a kid in the 1960's in Oregon. Peaceful and clean. Small towns with family businesses instead of big chain stores. Friendly, inviting people. No bad experiences until I took a bad step on some stairs and blew my foot all to hell. It was only when I got back from the trip that I started playing KCD. Now I want to go back and see some of the places in the game.

I'm very proud of Warhorse, sticking to their vision and producing a game of such great quality. As a Pole that loves Hussite Trilogy as well, KCD 1 & 2 are dream-come-true games. Obviously this game feels special to Czechs, but to other nations in our region too, I think. Medieval Europe is not just muddy streets with a grey filter on, as Hollywood often depicts is. Middle & Eastern Europe has a lot more to offer than people would know from watching Eurotrip. KCD 2 is a great advertisement of Czech Republic and of the whole region.

Greedy old fucker 😁 Just kidding, I love him (for the most part) and his work especially 🙂
I'm an American who got into KCD because I'm a big fan of fantasy and medieval content, and KCD had that authentic feeling that many games didn't have. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and it even made me curious to learn more. I went to read about the Hussites, Jan Hus, Jan Žižka, Sigismund, even some of the more minor historical figures that appeared, like seeing what was known about Markvart of Úlice and the differences between the people and the characters. I even used sites like google maps to look at some of the major locations from KCD and how they look today versus then. It genuinely sparked my interest in the history of a place I've never had any connection to, and it was a joy to experience and learn about

In the US/Canada and a lot of Western Europe, there was an enormous fascination with Polish history after Henryk Sienkiewicz's novels were translated for the first time, after he published "Quo Vadis?" and won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Sienkiewicz became the #1 best-selling author in the world after writing "Quo Vadis?", which quickly rose to being the best-selling novel of all time, selling more copies than any book in history other than the Bible. Suddenly, everyone wanted translations of all his work, which was quickly translated into English by Sienkiewicz's hand-picked English translator, Jeremiah Curtin.
A century ago, the Sienkiewicz "Trilogy" (and to a lesser extent, Krzyżacy, or "The Teutonic Knights") was bigger than "Harry Potter" or "The Lord of the Rings" in the US and Canada, and it changed our entire orientation toward Poland and its history forever. It's amazing to see a little bit of the same thing happening for Czech history today, with these games. It's not an exact parallel, but that's the closest thing I can compare it to, where millions of people around the world are seeing these stories for the first time, presented in an interesting and entertaining way. It's well deserved and I'm happy to see it.
Thanks to the algorithm for putting this video in my path. It's great to know all these things. Greetings from the Dominican Republic.

I met a czech woman on the park the other day. And due to her accent I assumed she was german, so I exitedly asked her in german if she was from there, since my family comes from that country. And she said "no, I'm from Czechia, we are a small country, I don't think you might now it, it's very little to the southeast of Germany."
I was kinda surprised when she said it, she spoke with such humility of her homeland as if it was something of not much significance. This coversation happened in a small park in Peru, where I'm from, a country I consider to be kinda unimportant and here there was a person from a country with a lot of history talking about it as if it was nothing. "Hey look buddy, I'm an Engineer, and I solve problems..."
I'm not Czech even though I have distant relatives there. I'm proud Warhorse did this game and put Czech history on the world stage. These small nations of central Europe were so involved in Continental European history yet they are extremely ignored just because the "West" never paid attention to us. I hope that now with KCD 1 and 2, this trend will change. Also honourable mentions to the Polish brothers for doing the same thing especially CD Project with Witcher (even if it is fantasy it still represents Slavic culture) and Slavic Magic's Manor Lords (Medieval city builder)
I am a Czech and Slovak living in Switzerland. I have to say, when I first heard of KCD I was so extremely proud of Warhorse Studios to make a game like this. They made me so proud of our Countrys history. I spend my Childhood in Czech Republic, so everything he says is true, I still can remember, how we as kids ran around our smal village in Czech republic and called out "Sigmund hlava ryšavá" I also love our fairy-tales-movies and our historical-movies and all the other Czech movies. They make our nation stand proud. I am also proud that the Christmas movie: Three Wishes for Cinderella is a Czech movie, that is watched by adults and kids all over the world on christmas. When I tell my friends that this movie originated from Czech Republic they are very suprised, because they don't hear as much about Czech Republic here, which is a bit sad. But I am still very proud^^
This is why I love games. It spreads culture to people in an interesting way. It can do so much good if it stays honest to its history.

And it's 1 of the best RPGs I've ever played, It's up there with the 1st 2 Gothic games and Morrowind and SWKotOR. It's amazing and genius and it hits at all the right spots as an RPG should.
I even learnt some history. I knew of Luxemburgi Zsigmond, but didn't know he messed around your neck of the woods.
I'm so hyped about KCD2, I haven't been this excited about a game since 2011 when Skyrim came and then disappointed.
Love from the U.S. to the people of the Czech Republic, your culture, language (I sometimes say kurva over stupid shit now, thanks), and national identity should be held with a lot of pride; your nation has quite a rich and fascinating history. Wishing nothing but the best for all of you.
As a czech I am so glad you guys elected Trump. So many NGOs that cause harm (promote far left idiocy, mass migration etc) have lost funding now, it is glorious.
Thank you. I'm happy to learn a little bit more about Czechs today! You should be proud of this game!
Thanks for watching 🙂 We're very proud.
Greetings from Poland. Great video. KCD rules! Can't wait to play sequel.
Swede here who's half Czech who's been learning a... broken Czech since I was young (nemlovim uplně dobre Češtíny, promiň). I've semi-recently discovered stuff about Jan Hus and Žižka and fell absolutely in love with them. I had no idea that there existed a game about it so I am definitely going to Czech them out (baddum tss), as it is a part of my personal heritage I do wish to connect more with.
(Moravska > Bohemsko 😈😉)
I'm from Nuremberg. Czech medieval history is way more relevant to me than English medieval history
Thats because we are neighbors and even was both part of holy Roman empire.
@janhalek669 and we both produce beers that are so good it is unbelievable 😆
American here, love the game, the beautiful west slavic language and czechia!
It's the historically accuracy that makes it good!
I would love to have a similar game from the 1600-1700 Scandinavia - north Europe with the Carolean wars.
I am a Finn and YES, YES, absolutely, that would be amazing. One period I would love to have a game based is the nuijasota in Finland (a peasant revolt), which was part of a power struggle between Sigismund King of Poland also of Sweden, and Charles IX who later took power and won the war
I'm a UK history fan and KCD1 really put Medivil Czech history on the map for me, with most of my knowledge previously being its place in modern empires. Also, an interesting cultural difference between the UK and Czechia about Sigismunds translated nickname, "The Red Fox", because of the fox's sly and cunning nature, I think in England would be considered almost complementary, where as the Czechs view it as a label of derision and insult. This is curious as I also see a lot of parallels between how we in England view our King John and how Czecks view Sigismund, and parallels between their respective foils, the historical Jan Zizka and the mythical Robin Hood.
Well, after 25 hours in that game I'm quite wonder how gamedevs of other studios will create their games. Because that masterpeace probably the best RPG of all time.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one of my favorite video games of all time. I can't wait to get immersed in the sequel.
My mother's side of the family is from the Czech Republic.
So that also helps me appreciate the work that Warhorse Studios has poured into this franchise so far.
Loved the first KCD game, it was one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've ever had. I've been to Prague and Cesky Krumlov and I think Czechia is such a beautiful country, so I'm excited to learn more about Czech history through KCD2! All the love from Finland, see you at the IIHF World Championships in a few months 🇫🇮🏒🇨🇿
Well, I knew Czechia from a certain line of videos 😅... but the Game made me learn more about the country ❤
I love that we get to share in your history, and enjoy the story and stories of bohemia together, i look very much forward to the game and at some point taking a trip to your country (maybe kuttenberg) and enjoy a cold czech pilsner as any good dane would 👍
I'm so going to visit Kutna Hora, I live close by in Poland and its always pleasure to visit. I just hope we will get another one with Hussite wars, that would be so awesome 😎
As someone living in Austria, I'm just so happy that there is a Game like Kingdom Come which tries to portray an accurate middle european medieval period. And I'm also happy about your videos, a lot of your opinions are similar to mine. Keep up the good work.
I love the stuff your country outputs, so, it might be geographically small, but culturally, in my world at least, you are a giant.
Ukraine here, thsanks for interesting video,KCD Greate game, and Czech history, like Ukrainian history, is rich in interesting events and struggles for its existence and identity. I have subscribed to your channel and am waiting for new interesting videos about Czech history, thank you!
As a half Ukrainian half Syrian, I must say Czech history is very interesting and I'm hyped too play KCD2!
Yeah, I can't wait either 🙂
kcd is a rpg.
My Henry is Muslim 😅😆

To anyone interesting what it mean on historical connection: 14/15 th century was time of humanistic ideas in bohemia and rise of czech language and written documents (for example the charles IV mentioned in game , was reason for that happening) in 16th century we fell under habsurgs (tbh by our own mistake as "we" voted them as kings) and after but the most breaking moment was after 1620 battle of white mountain wich brought long re-catholization wich meant settling depopulated cities after 30 year war by german, germanization and for example one Jesuit is responsible for burning as much as 20000 czech language books, wich was so brutal on cultivation and national awareness that it by miracle restore MUCH later by national revival of 19th century.
Národní obrození brainrot
@FilipMoncrief ?
@FilipMoncrief to jsem neřekl doslova jsem napsal "resettlement of depopulated cities after 30 year war, wich meant germanization " jelikož nový osadníci přicházeli z katolických zemí coz znamenalo naturální germanizaci, ovšem není Pravda že lidi byli hloupý ohledně národního cítění, I když ještě v plenkách, už od 14 stoleti máme záznamy o etnických rozporech v našich městech. Dokonce i otakar II "napsal" manifest do polska ohledně "Čechů a Poláků mající stejnou Krev a podobnost a chamtivych Teutonů" i když v té době to byl především Lingvistický zájem.
Lidi přesně nepoznali kdo je etnický Čech či Němec, a Češi se někdy považovali za Němce, a Němci zase za Čechy.
Absoutley fell in love with Czechia after playing KCD. I've spent hours and hours reading about the history of the people, culture and castles. So much packed into a small but mighty country. Much love from the U.S, here's to KCD2!!!
As a Texan, I've always had a soft spot for the Czechs, because so many of them settled here and made a mark on the state. My parents visited Prague and loved it.
Have you played Last Train Home? Another amazing historical game that puts a spotlight on Czech (and Slovak) history, specifically the supremely badass Czechoslovak Legion.
I haven't but I of course know about it and hopefully I will play it one day 🙂
I really appreciate this, I love KCD and it's currently the evening before release of KCD2. I can't wait! But while I'm waiting I really enjoyed your video on the history and perspective from the Czech people. Really interesting and informative!
Thanks 🙂 I can't wait. I have to go pick up my collector's edition today and I'll meet Tom McKay and Luke Dale in the evening during meet and great where our LARP group will be in medieval costumes 😁
@@FolkWalkCZ That sounds like so much fun! Have a good time :)
@@johnmosley9376 Thank you 🙂
Funnily enough, I knew a bit about recent Czech history as gun collectors in the US highly regard CZ's firearms from both the Cold War era and modern manufacture but didn't really know much of its medieval history prior to KCD. KCD felt like part of a wave of games from independent studios of varying sizes that wanted to tell stories deeply tied to a specific culture that we otherwise wouldn't hear about. Given how Hus influenced some of Martin Luther's ideas and how big of a deal the Protestant Reformation was, I'm surprised I wasn't already aware of it though I'll concede I may have skimmed over that part of World History classes. I am also glad that the studio stuck to a more realistic setting. It was needed for the kind of story being told but the combat system would have suffered a lot if it had to accommodate targeting big, non-human enemies
As a gun collector, I´m sure that you will like the depiction of the first handheld firearms, and the beginning of the light firearm culture in Bohemia (or more correctly, the whole Czech lands).
There were some firearms even before that. In China, and in France during the 100 years war. But they were rare, and also big and cumbersome. The Bohemian firearms, such as píšťala (which was a likely source of the word "pistole", later translated into "pistol") were much lighter and just as depicted in KCD2 - could be fired without a fixed support underneath it. Plus there also was a ton of light mobile cannons called "houfnice" (literally translated as a "flock gun" - a source of the word howitzer).
Shame that there is no plan to make a third game set during the Hussite wars, as that could see inventions such as a self-propelled guns, when Hussites fired howitzers from moving wagons during the battle of Kuttenberg.
I´m more likely to just stick with crossbows (which I really missed in KCD1), but I will definitely also try some firearms.
As a Czech, very well put!
Díky 🙂
Having lived in my beloved Czech, when I read about the first KCD game, I was determined to buy it no matter what. It paid off in spades.
This is so awesome man. From an American, who knew nothing about your country or culture until I found KCD1, to now planning a trip this coming spring to your country to learn more, it’s really cool to see what Warhorse did here.
Its strange cause as a history guy, i never think about the holy roman empire. In medieval times, i was more interested in ocidental Europe with the wars between France, England and the innumerous invasions Britan had in the centuries. Because of this game i discovered a time in history so interesting a country so beautiful that now i dream of visiting one day. It's an amazing thing really. Cheers from Brazil.
The funny part is that during that time(in the game) Bohemia was the center of the Holy Roman Empire, thus the whole Western Civilisation, Prague was the imperial city and a home of Holy Roman Emperors (Sigismud became Emperor too later) .. and Czech language was an Imperial language together with Latin and German (Emperors were obliged to know these 3 languages) .. then Germans tried to Germanize Czechs .. and the whole Holy Roman Empire went to sh*t bcs of that
I'm glad they made the game they did. It teaches you about history and also an amazing game at the same time.
I think almost all smaller european countries feel the same way as you czechs i come from Norway and for over 600 years we were under danish and swedish control. This has also led to that same feeling of inferiourness as in the czech republic. So when i got to visit "my hometown" of stavanger in AC Valhalla i felt that same feeling of proudness. Even tho Kingdom come is a much greater game.
How strange. Here from Czechia Norway seems like the coolest most successful most organised as well as tough nation that is a big player in international politics😮
Also excellent winter gear comes to mind. 😊
Love this video. Czechia has always been a place I've wanted to visit.
I'm glad Warhorse put their footdown too, I don't want dragons or magic in a realistic medieval-based game. It's ridiculous for publishers to suggest England is more recognisable to people around the world. They forget England was heavily influenced by Anglo-saxon and Norman cultures, Britannia was a name given to us by the Romans.
No dragons, but they did include dinosaurs - if you look closely
KCD has introduced me to entire new part of history i didnt know existed, now KCD is one of my all time favorites.
For those who wonder what he means as not being Czechoslovakia, that country peacefully split into Slovakia and Czech Republic in 1992.
Good job👌, greetings from the Czech Republic😉
My grandfather and his family came to America in 1912 when he was a child from then Yugoslavia, looking for better opportunities like so many others. He and my father were very proud of their heritage and would take me to Slavic gatherings for holidays and traditional dances to meet with other slavs, Czechs and people from the "old country". As a child, I didn't appreciate it much - listening to folk music and watching traditional dancing and festivities seemed like a waste when all my friends were at the mall or at the movies instead. But now that I'm older, I really have learned to embrace and love my ancestors' history, and I'm grateful for all the experiences I've had.
I love the Czech Republic, such a beautiful country!
I love KCD because I think this is the first game I played that set in real world medieval period. Real as in not a fantasy with dragons and wizards.
And I learned a lot about a country that I rarely heard about. Thank you Warhorse!
I know England is probably the most often represented medieval nation in media but even still I gotta say as an Englishman, I am extremely jealous of KCD. I can't think of anything recent that's treated our history with such respect and given such an authentic feeling. I'd long for a similar game set during our Wars of the Roses, or any kind of game really as long as the setting was captured with the same care. Sadly doesn't seem likely with so many trying to manipulate our history for their own ends but I can dream.
Pole here. I think that KCD2 is for you something like The Witcher 3 was for us that decade ago. Maybe it is not history-related as KCD, but (especially with Hearts of Stone dlc) it is full of polish culture, history easter eggs etc. I am glad that KCD was created, as I am fan of center-eastern europe atmosphere.
As an American with piss poor world history lessons in school, and therefore no knowledge of your region's history, its really amazing how KCD has had me studying Czech history with great interest. This game really drops you into the past and gets you hooked
I love Warhorse studio! Such a passion project for them. Can't wait till the 4th 😊
