you gotta credit to Caren Pistorius.....however I thought they were gonna make up, get a starbucks coffee and then make out in front of the KC statue at the Grunge museum.
His character got to where he is after being cheated on, probably lost everything, probably got a raw deal in court, maybe lost his job due to the other traumas compounding on his existing struggle... then he runs into this woman who is a cheater, she's reckless, she's lazy, she was willing to have him murder a client who fired her, heck, before she even met him she'd already had accidents from texting and driving, and almost had another accident. The world revolves around her, and she lacks empathy for anyone she's not banging or who isn't her direct family. Me personally? I'd have accepted the guy's apology and apologized for laying on the horn at him, so I'd have nothing to fear.
Yeah can you Imagine this happening its either kill or be killed but he did give her the chance to say sorry and she didnt not saying what he did was jusitified because it was not but I think its just best to say sorry or face that shit.
He was so convincing that he actually made me feel like I didn't want to see his character out of anxiety and dread, no actor has ever made me feel like that on that level before.
Russell Crowe mentions that "this is where we are" and he doesn't understand the character's motivation. But I bet a ton of guys get it... even ladies have dated or remarried a guy and many of them see how he's been completely F-ed over by a vindictive ex. There is no recourse for men who are abused by vindictive spouses who game the system and poison the kids. For guys who have been through this, they're helpless, and they've lost everything. It's literally less risky to join the service than to get married and have kids. Most guys would rather lose a limb than go through what dads go through in divorce. And this mother in this movie is lazy, selfish, unreliable, and a cheater.
He played this role so well! His acting skills are amazing! To go from a math genius in the movie “A beautiful mind” to a psychotic road rage man in “Unhinged” shows extremely diversified acting talent.
Crowe is so good in this movie that I had to stop watching and get on You Tube to find this interview. I needed to remind myself that he is really not this guy!😂😂 I've always loved Crowe's movies and this just shows what a great actor he truly is! Brilliant!!
I've experienced road rage a few times. Coming home from work one night my engine suddenly lost power. I had just gotten off the interstate but was on a single lane road, and just crossing a bridge, so there was nowhere to pull over to. As my car lost power, it slowed down gradually and I put my flashers on. The car behind me laid on their horn, and I rolled down my window to motion for them to go around. As he passed me, he shouted something insulting and I didn't respond back. A couple blocks later I pulled into a Kroger parking lot, and the guy came wheeling in right behind me. "What's your problem?" he said, "Don't you know there's a minimum speed limit?" I said I was sorry, that my car had suddenly lost power and his demeanor instantly changed. He said, "Oh... ok. Do you need any help?" I said, "No thanks, I'll car someone. Thanks anyway." I appreciated the change of attitude and the offer to help me, but I was not gonna trust this guy to even look at my car with all that angry adrenaline running through him. Another time I was on my way home after visiting the hospice where my Mom had just died. I was crying and couldn't see the lines on the freeway that well, so accidentally drifted a little into the adjacent lane. Someone honked LOUDLY, which was good thing, to alert me to stay in my own lane, but it startled me nonetheless. I guess that wasn't really road rage but my point is, it is never a good idea to get excited or yell at someone while driving, because you never know what the situation is or what they are going through. I have been guilty of getting angry at drivers sometimes, but in truth, who of us hasn't made a mistake while driving... or anything else for that matter. This looks like a movie that I will want to see.
i think generally this is a good movie. One thing i really like about the movie is that. It is almost like a real-life scene. Something that really can happen to your real life. Hence its a very realistic movie. In fact this can be a good movie towards road-rage awareness.
People think like someone unhinged would be more delinquent but this was accurate in if someone fully capable truly became unhinged on murder spree, not to mention Crowe killed it
A Dam fine Film, although extremely violent, Russell portrayal of guy who finally explodes after a shit load of BAD Days in his life, is scarily convincing. As we all know that life is stranger than fiction, and there are many nutters out there in the world with a few lose screws, who can lose their shit for absolutely no reason at all. If you have been a victim of road rage this film is a must to realise , whether to get angry with someone whilst driving.
This film is one of the best i have seen in a long time.Yes there will be haters but his role in this film was amazing and the story and direction by Derek was great. Highly recommended i saw it 3 days ago
There are some thrillers where it's success depends solely on the strength of it's villain, this is one of them. Russell Crowe is utterly frightening as the man who, after being slighted at a stop light, mercilessly pursues a young mother and son, turning their lives into a day long nightmare. I personally loved the film and it wouldn't have worked nearly as well if Russell wasn't so great in it.
He’s a great. I’d like to see him get whipped into shape again. It’s hard as you age. But the right highly paid Hollywood trainer can do it for anyone.
I really liked Russell Crowe as a psychotic killer. having followed his career since the 90s, this is a wonderful departure from most of his heroic roles. also, the beard and the weight gain really made him scary and intimidating looking. He said in his interview he doesn't like to do retreads of the same role, however he was so good at this character I hope he plays a psycho again someday in my lifetime
This is a refreshing and surprising look into the aspect of his decision making and thought process. And he is deep as he inspects himself and society in general. I am impressed.
Glad you explored your UN-comfort zones as an actor. I know these roles will pay off huge dividends down the rod by exploring the UN-common characters. Love the process Mr. Crowe.
He is a brilliant actor. He can pull every roll off with brillance. This movie is actual real. There are people like this in the world. He may look different but he will always be one of my favorite actors! This is one of my favorite movies!!!
all my favorite actors are getting older, its a little saddening, but i love russell crowe and hope he continues making films. gladiator still in my top 10 films
"it was the most relax film in 20 years" like man! only veterans like Russell can say that because for some actors, no matter how simple the story is, if they can't deliver the emotion of that specific character, they'll have to keep repeating it many times. kudos!
I wonder if Mr.Crowe remembers long ago his Hollywood Studio “incident “and if he remembers being on the outside looking in to his situation?Well done Mr.Crowe. Thanks.Mac.
So happy Russel Crowe is still in the game. The movie wasn't the best he's done; but it's definitely one of my favourite performances. Terrifying and shocking in this. Quality quality actor.
I appreciate that he approached this question about a really vicious character in a pretty dark movie from a morally sound perspective, in that they kept focus on what was inappropriate to justify, the inappropriateness of comedy, etc. It shows good taste.
I never realized Russel Crowe’s eyes are a little bit crossed. I don’t know if this is because he’s older and heavier but he also sounds like The Gremlin that can talk in Gremlins 2
This movie was actually very good. I did not think it would be good, but it was good. And it was because of Russell Crowe that it was good. He did an excellent job in this movie. When I read the synopsis I was unsure if it would be cheesy. So I decided to watch it and I was pleased. He plays a scary crazy person, and he is very intimidating. Russell Crowe is a big boy and I would not want to take a punch from him in real life.
I know the character Russell Crowe plays in this movie is a horrible human being, but I think there's a dark side of myself that kind of relates to that character, and I think he portrayed that very well. Not sure if anyone else related or not. I think in as far as the character could be likable, he made it so. He also made the character believable. We've all met people who are at least on the surface like this character. I think one of the underlying themes of the movie is how uncivil our society has become, and how frustrating, annoying, and relentlessly grating that can be on a daily basis, for many people. Obviously his character went off the rails, but you can almost understand how it happened and empathize with his character. Not justifying or defending what his character did, but you can see how he got there. To be honest, I was surprised how interesting and entertaining the movie was. It was much better than I was expecting.

I think the bad guy in the movie did have some good qualities. 1. He killed the cheating wife and her garbage lover. 2. He tortured and killed a divorce lawyer(Worst evil garbage in humanity). You can understand his rage if you've ever been a man who was vitimized by divorce court or a white man in general. This being said, I'm not preaching violence. In fact I don't believe in violence, but I do believe we need to end divorce court in a legal way as a society.
It certainly got me cleaning my guns after the movie... Here in Texas, we live in an arm society, the guy would have been dead within seconds of his first altercation

Serial killers, rape, and murder are horrible with no justification but they exist and movies are made with that material. Russel Crowe has put on some weight, but somehow, it looks good on him. Great actor!
Lots of men. He could play a king or wealthy renaissance personality. Or any famous overweight dude... Elvis?
He’s on the Brando stage of his career. Both great actors I enjoy very much.
The weight suited the character. Added to the perceived manifestation and maturation of his misery.
Brave guy playing that character. I appreciate the explanation. Thank you for shedding some light on this darkness.
