- Designed to accommodate up to a 40” tire, the TeraFlex JL Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier and Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mount will secure your full-size spare tire over the most extreme trails and rugged terrain. It also provides easy access to the rear cargo area in one smooth action.
Using the factory tailgate hinge mounting points spreads the load of the spare tire over a larger area for maximum strength and durability. Internal gussets and bracing in the stock JL body supports the Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier and oversized tire, which eliminates all stress from the tailgate.
Compared to the JK piece, the new JL Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier spans nearly the width of the tailgate for better weight distribution. Additionally, the updated design features a one-piece, forged steel hinge that ties the top and bottom factory hinge locations together as well as additional vertical braces for increased strength.
The Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier also provides additional mounting points for off-road accessories such as a recovery jack and fluid containers.

Got mine and installed it today... it’s worth it. The alpha tire carrier was good on its own but coupled with this, my tailgate and tire feels rock solid. Running 37’s and I have no sagging when opening my tailgate and I swear it got rid of some road noise and rattles that I could solve before

This guy cracks me up! I keep watching this and wanting the dang thing more each time. It does check most of the boxes but I really didn't want to cover up my Willys sticker. Not a big deal though. The cost is more than I was planning so I'm really having to think this out. As a fairly new Jeep owner, it's hard to know what I need. For instance, lightweight aluminum or the heavier steal. I have some larger 35's that are 110 pounds and I simply don't want to wreck the tailgate. I also need a tire mount that will fit the tire because right now, it's a no go. I'm ready to order just because he's such a great "Splainer"

Question! Can just the hinge be ordered and installed with the OEM carrior, until a future date and purchase of larger tired / and Alpha mount? Right now I'm just looking for a reinforced carrier, as I usually carry extra stuff mounted on the tailgate. Thxs, love the videos and Dennis!
The factory carrier does not work with our hinge system unfortunately.

How much weight will the HD Hinge hold? Will it carry a 12 gallon Titan fuel caddy and 37" wheel to this setup?
We don't have an official weight rating, but we rate it up to a '40 tire, so a 37 with some fuel shouldn't be an issue.
Do you guys provide lifts for trucks? Or just jeeps?
We have our line of Falcon shocks that have a few options for trucks, but we mainly do Jeep suspension.

Please make one of these for the TJ to compete with Rusty’s. All the others are pretty janky. And Rusty’s is super expensive.
