    I wanted to take a minute to thank you for being one of the few independent designers that includes MANY MANY sizes in your patterns. I know that it’s not easy to just “size up” or “size down” when you’re expanding the written pattern, and that it takes time and effort to do so. But as someone who wears 3-5x depending on the brand, it’s wonderful to be able to sit down and make myself something pretty. It’s been quite depressing this year going to stores and not being able to find things on the rack that I can wear even in larger sizes. This is really the first time ever I’ve really struggled with that. And then you find beautiful patterns during RUclips searches but find out that the video only is for size medium or size small and there’s no written pattern or the written pattern is only for one size and the size is never a big size lol. So thank you for being someone who includes as many people as humanly possible because there’s not many of you guys that do! I cannot wait to make this for myself!

    Thank you for this! I actually have a ton of the yarn this calls for in the pattern due to some huge Christmas crochet projects and I didn't know what I was going to do with the left over skeins I had. I wanted something different than what I had already done. Now I have a project for them. 🤗

    I just started this! I am working up a pocket, so I can check my gauge. ( As you suggest in your blog!)❤️This has helped me to make it with a size 4 yarn( I get cold easy and want a cardigan that looks elegant, but I can wear everyday for my grandmothering life!( in and out all day long, and up alot at night, which tends to be cool enough for a sweater! )
    So far my swatch/ pocket is looking nice, i did pull it all out and tighten my stitches just a tad and it looks lovely! I cannot wait to get this finished! Thank you so much for very informative pattern, and tutorial! I would have never taken on crocheting a garment, until I watched your whole tutorial, and read your blog! Not many go to the lengths you have to explain in terms that make sense!
    Thank You! I love this cardigan!!!!! 👏🏻❤️

    I would like to say ditto with Amber Leitao's comment. I do have a question, about the sleeve seaming. Could it be done at the same time as the side seam. To explain what I mean: lay out the front & back panels flat and center the flat sleeve to the shoulder. Then seam the sleeve & side of cardigan in 1 long section. I have seen this done with other sweater patterns, would it work for this pattern? Love your patterns & keep up the great work it is much appreciated.

    • @YarnandChai
      @YarnandChai  4 года назад +2

      Yes it would! I considered doing it that way, but I wanted it to be REALLY easy to line up the sleeves correctly and it was harder to explain where to position them using that method. :)

    Hi Rebecca, I love this cardigan and it's my first garment to crochet. I got both the pockets to gauge (after a few tries!) And I just finished one of the front panels. My first color block came out about 1/4-1/2 inch larger than the rest of the whole panel in the first 20 rows or so. Is there a way to RIP it out and go back in upside down? Or do you think it might be ok? I just don't want to have puckering or anything when i sew it all together. Totally user error and trying to learn the stitch. You have been great and now that i have learned, it's flying right along. Thank you!

    • @tffy2004
      @tffy2004 4 года назад +1

      I am wanting to know the same thing. I want all my stitches to go the same way and in order to do that for it to come out how I want it, it would have to be worked from the bottom up. When I look at the pattern and the sequence of colors in the pattern and pictures of the sample cardigan it looks like top to bottom. IF it is top to bottom I don't like the way it will look. To me the stitches would be up side down....If ANY of that made sense.

    I have been working all night long on the gauge and can not get gauge no matter what.im using a really light dk, its loops and threads snuggly wuggly. Im using a g hook for the chain and the foundation row and can't even make it to 3.5 in. But using a E Or F my rows go way over and im crocheting as tight as i can. I dont know what to do. I am generally a tight crocheter. I have used various combos of hooks and am still not meeting the gauge row count. Using the hooks you suggest for the same yarn, I get the gauge stitch count, but no matter how small of hook the height is off. I am four stitches short which equals 1 in. What is the height of each color block so I can alter accordingly?

    how can you do this sweater with a heavy weight yarn? would it take less or more? I'm thinking less but I'm not an expert like yourself. • @YarnandChai

      Hi Teresa! You would have to go strictly by the measurements provided in the pattern. You'd never be able to use heavy yarn with the same stitch count, as this was designed with a very thin yarn :)

    My daughter wants me to crochet this cardigan but she wants to be able to button it up. Where would you suggest to place the button holes please?

    I've made the cardigan, but the armpit, where the starting chain of the sleeve meets the front/back panels, is much too tight. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to take out the side seams, remove and remake the sleeves to fit?

    Meraviglioso. Solo non ho capito se la manica è stata cucita sul dritto del lavoro o sul rovescio

      I might try Cotton Fair by Premier, but definitely do your gauge check!

      Hobby Lobby doesn't ship outside the US, as far as I know. If you are outside the US, you'll have to find a substitute yarn :)

    How long did this actually take you to make? I'm thinking of it as a gift

      Hi Jamie, that's really going to depend on your skill level, personal speed, and circumstances. It took me about a month, but I fit my crochet in where I can with 3 young boys at home. Some girls in our Facebook group made theirs in just a couple of days, while others took much longer. :)
