    The bur issue made me look up their warranty info. Its only 1 year?!?! For a $2,500 premium gun youre only standing behind your product for 1 year?!?! I get lifetime warranties on guns 1/5 of that cost. Beautiful piece no argument there but in 2024 you can not offer a 1 year warranty on a gun this pricey. Your biggest competitor in this space is Staccato and they have a lifetime warranty. Gotta pass on this one

      @armon8399 sure compared to a custom 2011 for 3 times the price it's budget but to 99% of people in the market for a new gun, a $2500 gun is a premium gun. And as such, buying one with a 1 year warranty is a non starter. Similar price for a staccato and you get a lifetime warranty

    Mr. Roger we talked a bit in remarks once when you were testing the Nighthawk comped vs the Staccato XC and i gave my thought on why the difference in the feeling. Thought I would add a few thoughts here.
    I do a lot of testing on ports and comps as well. I've learned a few things that are telling. Ports have a habit of causing issues with some types of ammo. Some more than others. Seeing the lead deposits near the crown is telling a story.
    Many manufacturers are now selling what they call full metal jackets which are in truth, not full metal jackets but plated jackets. This is usually a very thing coating and it tends to shed some of the jacket when shooting in both ported pistol barrels as well as shedding jacket material in the forcing cone between the cone and front of the cylinder. It is such an issue that Berry's ublletsmade for reloaders plainly say not fo ported or revolvers.
    Another issue is in full metal jacket rounds, (Real ones) many times the base is concave. Even without a bur in the bore or ports, the pressure on the base tends to push a little of the outside perimeter up when passing the port and is then extruded back down further down the bore. Issue is, it is extruded back past the base of the bulles No far, but enough to unbalance the bullet at longer ranges.
    I learned this by recovering bullets in a softer material in order to examine the effects on the bullets themselves. I have gone so far as to diamond lap the bores with 1 Micron diamond paste to prevent any possibility of burrs. it helps as it stops most shaving but cannot stop the extrusion. but does not totally prevent the issue as the pressure is still an issue.
    One more issue is the exposed lead core on actual jacketed round nose bullets is the lead melts and accumulates around the forward part of the ports and smears down the bore. Again, poor accuracy. You Will see the smaer on the top of the inside of the barrel mostly. Further, some companies use a harder lead that others. This is also an issue. Softer, more smearing .
    To test this I switched to both actual jacketed HP's and Plated HP" and saw the results. Actual swaged jackets are much less prone to damage and the HP's have a solid base which prevents the melting of the base.
    To prove out what was happening, I switched to several brands of solid copper defense ro nds and the gun's became very accurate instantly.
    An added benefit of an actual comped gun rather than ported most this if not all is prevented. I went so far as to completely mirror polish the inside of a Genghis style comp and there was no real clean up to be done with Jacketed HP's and or solid copper slugs. Only smoke from power heat. Before with lead bases exposed I had to really work hard to clean the comps. I now fully mirror the interior of the comps and before shooting, wax with a good quality Ceramic Wax. It only takes a few minutes with a bamboo swab soaked with the wax to remove all residue and is back to mirror finished again. Takes less the 3-4 Minutes. Believe it or not, the low cost Turtle Ceramic Hybrid Wax for Autos does a bangup job!
    Sorry this is so long winded. Did the best I could to try and make it clear to readers. (Helpful tidbit. Many small ports do less damage ot 3 or 4 larger dia. ports. Less base upset).

      I believe Blazer brass uses the thin brass coating and they specifically say on their box not to use it in ported or comped firearms. I imagine for exactly this reason.

    • @CiciK222
      @CiciK222 7 месяцев назад +2

      besides all of this...comps look way better/cooler, comps when pre treated clean up super easy and keep the rest of your gun cleanm especially the top of your light and the end of the barrel and around the slide by the muzzle end doesnt turn black. after enough rounds ports make guns looks so dirty. the only way to avoid this is not have ports on the barrel and the slide. -- of which the only solution I can think of is an island barrel. island barrel ports are more like little comp openings further back than ports. porting really isnt a good solution when you can comp or island barrel port and they are way cooler and keep your gun clean not make it dirtier. we def need to see more island barrels. more 2011 manufacturers need to do island barrel. legion and hayes do thats it I think, and old stis. Someone really needs to step up for glock too. Zev hypercomp is ugly and sucks. trinity nevada slides don't even work. God I wish I could have my ideas developed by a machinist who could do what I could design. I feel like gun engineers/manufacturers are very unintelligent. If a smart person would actually start developing stuff it would be awesome.

    • @michaell397
      @michaell397 7 месяцев назад

      @@sociopathmercenary Oddly, the Blazer Brass doe use very thinly coated bullets but in testing, the Blazer Alu. apparently has heavier coated bullets. I can't help but wonder if the heavier coating on the cheaper rounds is a Lot Number issue. I can't imagine why they would spend more on the bullets in a cheaper line of products.
      Not all that long ago, I was shooting a lot of PSA 9mm with good results. The last case was terrible accuracy. Yep, plated. I tried for days to get an answer from them as to whether this was a temporary step due to shortage of bullets or gong to be an ongoing move. Never could get an answer. Couldn't so much find anyone who knew what they were using. Not on the phone, not by writing, reviews, questions and answers on the site. nada. No response whatsoever.
      I no longer order PSA Ammo. A shame as it was great for a while. Then went to carp an none seemed to care or even know about it.
      Not exactly what I would consider good customer service

C'mon man, make some dreams to share with the rest of us who aren't as smart as you, but can appreciate a good thing when they see it! You're smart, now get out there and use it! I replaced that with the 4.25 Pro ported lock up is night and day better much better groupings you shouldn’t be able to move that barrel at all when it’s locked up, I don’t think Bull is paying as good attention as their competition guns other than that I love the ported version. Send it to Dave at DSC Gunworks. He can DPO cut the 3.25 ULs...so you can run any Dawson Precision staccato plate you want, with backup irons. He's the best 2011 smith in the biz...and turnaround time is usually very reasonable. On another note, I've had four separate Bul 3.25ULs, three of them being the comped versions. I EDCd my first one with the stock plate and a Holosun 507K for more than 3 years and put about 4,000 rounds through it and didn't have my optic come off or lose zero one time. That sucks that you're having such issues with yours!!! Dave can fix it for way less than buying the new version with their optic cut... Whenever those start showing in stock.

Also my concern is the lack of quality in factory ammo. Affordable brand as well as more costly ammo manufacturers. Softer, cheaper leads. "Plated" FMJ... The short cornering of quality for increased profit can impact my ports more than the quality of the best ported barrel available. My opinion….I don’t think it’s the porting…I think bul might be making the barrel too tight or it’s ammo issues=match the ammo with the gun…I typically get 3” groups at 25 yards from a bench with hand loads or some factory that I’ve found works best…if I saw lead coming out of the barrel I’d be worried one would get stuck in the barrel and a second shot=gun blows up…definitely wouldn’t be running speed drills out of it/immediately send it back

    What's the difference between the Tac Pro 5" and the Tac 5"? I see both on their site and they look the exact same, lol.
    EDIT: Found them. I put them side-by-side in different tabs (they really should have a compare feature on the website, lol) and found the following differences:
    1. Sights: The "Tac 5" has a serrated rear and fiber optic front sight, whereas the "Tac Pro 5" has serrated black front and rear sights. That's weird, I would think it would be the reverse (the standard model having the blacked-out sights, and the "Pro" model having the fiber optic front sight), but that's just me and I'm weird. Lol.
    2. Barrel/slide: The "Tac 5" has the same slide cutouts for the V8 porting, but has no ports in the actual barrel, whereas the Tac Pro obviously has the cutouts AND the V8 porting. Why would they have the cutouts on the non-ported gun if they're not gonna port that model? That's just lazy manufacturing, lol. For mass-production guns like Bul Armory, they should have separate tooling that doesn't cut the slide for the non-ported model.

    boo ports. comps look way better/cooler, comps when pre treated clean up super easy and keep the rest of your gun cleanm especially the top of your light and the end of the barrel and around the slide by the muzzle end doesnt turn black. after enough rounds ports make guns looks so dirty. the only way to avoid this is not have ports on the barrel and the slide.
