- the first level in my learn how to skate series! i had a really hard time editing this one so I will definitely split the next ones into 2-3 parts. As the levels progress the skills you need to pass get harder as well. I hope this is helpful! any tips to become flexible again? I used to be flexible and could bring my leg up to my head at the side and behind. I can still bring my leg up a decent amount but not as good as I would like. do you have a routine I can do daily to gain my flexibility back? thankssss 💕💕
Hmm. I’ve been really thinking about starting figure skating (as an 18 year old just for fun) and I can do all this. I was looking at videos and I can do everything up to like basic 4 or 5. I can spin and skate, I just can’t jump. I kinda wanna start skating but I’m a competitive person and I know for a fact that there’s no way I am young enough to learn and compete ever.
you can compete in adult competitions! i’m 19 so i’m going to start doing adult competitions too
@@RachelLiza Oh really? That’s cool. My older step sister was a figure skater and she competed until she was 14 and she taught me how to skate so I can kinda skate (living in Canada helps because there’s outdoor ice rinks all over, literally 2 on my road and 5 in my town plus an indoor rink (my town has less than 10kppl) and then the bigger town 15 minutes away has over 30 rinks.) so I’ve been skating since I was like 8/9 but never really learned. After watching the olympics this year and realizing that most of the Olympic figure skaters are younger than me idk I’ve been SUPER invested in Figure skating for the past month but sadly I don’t have skates that fit right now or else I would be teaching myself. I literally live 2 seconds away from 3 different ice rinks (one is indoor but is expensive to rent and they take the ice out in the summer for roller skating)

Im 5 weeks in ( 1 lesson every week ) and i think I’m kinda ahead ( i have group lessons and i practice myself off ice! ) i can do all of these pretty smoothly and I’m practicing basic 2! But my parent’s don’t trust me and they think I should still follow the group class

@@RachelLiza awwww ur the best tysm, also ive started skating (grade 4 in UK) and at around what level do you start doing spins/jumps, we've havent covered anything as such- we have only started doing crossover breakdowns, is this good or am I being taught in a bad way?? tysm!!
that’s good! jumps start around basic 6 / pre-free skate

thankyou for this. explaining in detail the actual technique of stopping and other moves. my ex attempted to teach me. it was a fail. all he did was tell me to just move, but he didnt explain to me how to push myself off and how to stop. then tried to grab my hand and pull me fast & it was my 1st time on the rink. dude was an ass. which is why he is my ex. @RachelLiza
