@@Azrael.777 oh god here's the salty American
I love how Hasan was like "I said America deserved it, not Americans." and Gianno proceeded to base his "rebuttal" upon the exact opposite.
Can you explain to me how America deserving 9/11 can manifest itself in any other way than Americans being hurt? I mean America is a collection of Americans, and Gianna’s response to this I thought was actually good here. It is the equivalent of saying something like “Chicago deserves what’s happening to it because of its bad gun policies, but not Chicagoans”… it’s like yeah so how does that manifest in any other way than Chicagoans being affected?
@@NATtelevision Americans are Individuals or Smaller groups who didn‘t want to or endorsed the foreign politics of the US in the 90s from their own will and without populist interference. America is the system as a whole especially with the politicians and the overall system which led to this.
So there is a big difference between America and Americans. Things done to a system obviously affects the people in the system and it can affect the system. Thats why its important that Hasan points out that Americans did not deserve it.
And Even I came up with that by thinking for like 10 seconds over it as a non-American.
@@teppichfliesestaubknauel5044 And what you’ve come up with in your 10 seconds is garbage. The “thing” done to the system which you mention was in fact not done to any system at all. It was done to 3,000 innocent American civilians.
It would be like saying in 1940 “well Germany deserves acts of war against civilians because the system is bad.” It’s like no it doesn’t… because you wouldn’t even be attacking the bad German system then. You would be attacking innocent German civilians.
@@NATtelevision America = America as a State. It's government, the decisions made by said government, the people who run it. Americans are, well, us. The people who just live here. Hasan repeatedly has explained that he didn't word that remark as well as he should have. Three thousand Americans did not deserve to die. However, the American Government should have seen it coming. 9/11 was the result of America's awful involvement in the middle east in the 90's and its involvement with the Mujahideen and what would eventually become Al Queda. We armed them, we trained them, we destabilized them, and when they needed us to rebuild their home, we were nowhere to be found. 9/11 was a case of simple cause and effect. The U.S. Government is just as much to blame for 9/11 as Al Queda and Osama Bin Laden.
@@disappointmentdepartment2699 “The American government should have seen it coming” is a statement I agree with, but one that is still far away even from “America’s government deserved 9/11”. And your simplistic cause-effect analysis ignores an incredible swath of Al Queda’s motivation. Yes there were foreign policy blunders… but “destabilized” supposes they were stable in the first place, they were able to train in regions that harbored terrorism that we hadn’t touched yet at that time, they were angered even by good US foreign policy such as recognition of Israel. Ultimately what Hasan clarified… that although Americans didn’t deserve to die, the American government deserved the attack on Americans… is still clearly a gross statement.

“We’re Americans!” That’s totally the attitude that helped lead to all these disasters.
You mean war crimes
Can you explain to me how an enthusiastic factual statement of our country of origin lead to the deaths of 2,977 innocent people on 9/11? Because I thought it was due to an insane extremist terrorist organization from another country who wanted to "create an Islamic state called a caliphate across Iraq, Syria and beyond," (CNN). But you seem to think it was Americans' fault for proclaiming their country of origin too openly.
@@benisjamin6583 Ya know I wonder why 9/11 happened. Maybe because the US just randomly decided to go to Saudi Arabia and take all their resources and then enraged a bunch of Islams who hated superpowers stealing THEIR resources and they decided to retaliate back including against the Soviets too. Hmm?
@@arjunkrishnagiri In Osama bin Laden's "Letter to America," he doesn't state taking Saudi resources as any of the top 5 motives for the attack. Not quite sure where you got that inclination. Also, 'taking oil unjustly' does not equal 'We're Americans.' You're giving an entirely unrelated explanation. The original comment seemed to suggest that if Americans didn't outwardly express their country of origin enthusiastically (or held no enthusiasm for their country), then 3000 random, innocent people wouldn't have died to the hands of an Islamic extremist organization.
@@benisjamin6583 obviously just saying "we're Americans" doesn't lead to 9/11, but it suggests that Americans are the good guys. Sort of like "We're Americans. Any criticism of America is invalid because the Middle East has done worse." America deserves to be criticized in this case for the relentless attacks on the Middle East which many Americans turn a blind eye to. When Bin Laden retaliates with 9/11, the people saying "we're Americans" suggest that 9/11 was unprovoked and that America has done nothing to the Middle East in return.
Simply saying "we're Americans" obviously doesn't warrant the 9/11 attack but the implication behind it defends the equally awful attacks that America has committed.
Hasan and I and everyone on this planet agrees that 9/11 was devastating and awful, and no one is saying America deserved it. What we are saying is that America has committed similar atrocities to the Middle East which provoked Bin Laden and directly led to the attacks of 9/11.

It’s beautiful how the hate of paper staws can bring people together r
I swear Gianno just wanted to argue on anything lmao there was some very middle of the road things Hasan tried and he just seemed like he was trolling
The fact that I’m the 911th like on this comment is so ironic
I mean their talk at the end about dealing with hate was sort of wholesome
"you ain't got the answers"
Gianno is THE PERFECT example of attentive hearing instead of attentive listening
It's important to note that Hasan concedes points to his opponent and this is an excellent debate strategy. It shows that you are still in control of your position and not falling into your emotions. It's entertaining to watch him keep it together while Gianno tries desperately to corner him.

What? The republican guy was 100% correct. Unions have destroyed a lot of black communities and you ppl who claim to care for black neighborhoods and minorities NEVER EVER tend to bring up that fact. Look what unions did to Brooklyn, NYC back in the mid-80's. Fucking unbelievable to call Gianno "Delusional"

Gianno: "No, it's nice. I wish I had a family that could give me a job. Must be nice"

Does he keep reminding you that you're Americans?
Here 2 years later. This dude Gianno says Uber is a temporary gig and uses that as a way to allow drivers to be mistreated. If only this dude knew that Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash drivers would be a literal JOB for people
I think it's so interesting how republicans constantly accuse the left of arguing with their feelings when this is how they choose to represent their position. Gianno's entire motivating force to his rebuttal was based on emotion.
As a non american I feel so sad to see Hasan having to deal with explaining socialism to american journalists on television. Facts and logic just won't do it.
Thanks to Ben Sharpener most conservatives think the leftist they’ll debate will be an 18 year old with a 7 second long college education. So they’re blindsided when they find out that these people are actually just as/ if not more, articulate and intelligent in expressing their views.
Like Mark Twain once said:
“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

they can't take criticism about their beloved country, that's the issue. if u can't criticize your country to make it better, it is lost.
