One thing I noticed is that despite being a theatrical movie based on a long-running show, it didn't feel the need to cram in every named character that appeared in the show - we actually see more of Bob's late mother than we do Big Bob.
Same! I love the episodes with Gayle…she’s the best side character. She’s also a huge personality side character so maybe not the easiest to pop in for non show watchers
I liked it. It was fun. Smiled the whole time. The series is my favorite show ever. On my 6th run through the series. I love the Belchers. How they handled Louise’s ears was perfect!!!
Ugh I teared up with the flashback of Bob's mom. Such a short but powerfully sad scene. The fact that it tied into Louise's bunny ears made it more devastating for me. 💔
The animation in this film is insane, one of the scenes with teddy looked so incredible that I though it was 3d animation for a second, some of the ways the characters move even look rotoscoped, it looks like every single motion a character makes must have took weeks to animate
Yessss. It was so weird seeing the fluidity and bounciness of their movement at first but then I really loved it with all the shadow. I hope it doesn’t feel weird going back to flat animation now in the show
Honestly I expected an animation upgrade for the sake of the movie, but I was honestly blown away with how fluid and almost... I guess 'rubber hose' cartoon kind of style in certain scenes while keeping a level of realism with their movements that makes it feel unique. I also wasn't expecting my Husband, who isn't a huge fan of Bob's Burgers as a whole, saying he really liked the movie. Sure it was predictable, but the humor was on point even from the perspective of someone who openly states he doesn't really like the show much. I felt like we could have gotten a more fleshed out story with Gene and Tina, but I'm so ecstatic over Louise's arc regarding her hat. And seeing Bob's mom?? That was an amazing surprise.
I agree with the lack of Tina and Gene sub plots, but I always have to think that if they removed them from the story, it wouldn’t really feel like a Bobs Burger movie would it? It’s better to appreciate what we got than to have potentially missed out
It was really great! I have a love for Louise. She is my tv grandaughter!!! My son passed 3 years ago. He loved Bob's Burgers too! 🍔 He once said if he had a child it would be like Louise! So, my tv grandaughter
Been to it twice, and noticed more details the 2nd time. There are some killer animation sequences. Like this review, others have commented that it "grinds to a halt" at one point or other and I disagree... it has excellent pacing. Also, BB has always had musical elements; intentionally corny but sweet, clever, and catchy. And in this movie, David Wain's song deserves a standing ovation. I think I was on the sticky, popcorny floor laughing like a lunatic when it dropped the 2nd time I saw it. 5/5 Go see it.
Honestly it took me a minute to adjust to how fluid they were moving in the beginning song, but besides that I loved it. I can't wait for it to come to streaming
Love that Louise's arc didn't end with her growing out of the bunny ears, she simply stops tying her own self-worth to them. Louise realized she doesn't NEED the ears, and now simply wears them because she wants to. I wish Tina's arc had ended with her realizing she's been in love with an idealized version of Jimmy Jr, and deciding she wants to get to know the real deal better before jumping into anything serious. Maybe that's what the ending was going for? I'm not sure.
My wife and I were the only ones in the theater. Which was disappointing but it felt like I was watching to show at home. I would have liked to have seen more of kid side characters like Rudy but I think it did a good job of keeping it focused.
I agree with the Muppet feel with the animation. Its a fun, nearly loose, motion that adds to the character designs! Its very fitting! Especially since the characters are usually stiff in the show. Spoiler below: As for the plot, its fine. I almost though there'd be some underground cavern area where Louise would find something mystical to save the restaurant. Instead its another Fishoder family plot. I do laugh that usually when it comes to Mr. Fishoder, its usually a 2parter or in this case...a movie! Who'd have thunk it! Still, its fun and funny! Wonder if well get a Family Guy movie at some point
Idk about family as most of the times now its just cut away gags or it will have a plot the first 2 minutes but thrown out for something dumb, like when Stewie and Brian miss with history and give the native Americans guns, then don't talk about it since that's the episode where Brian dies
3:41 I wonder if Louise doing this was a call back to the fact that the family was suppose to be cannibals. Also with Bob's mom, I thought it was heavily implied that Bob's mom died from Alzheimers before the start of the series. Bob said something along those lines and Louise says "just like grandma" and we later see that Linda's mom was still ok, so it was obv. Bob's mom. I do wish we got to see Louise without her bunny ears but at the same time Louise's lack if a reaction compared to other times where she lost it or it came off and she freaked out may indicate that the creators may phase out the bunny ears for something else.
@@larrystrauchman5126 yes! I saw it on Saturday (planning to see it again tomorrow) It was a fun time had me laughing even tear up a bit when the origin of Louise's hat was revealed which I think was the sweetest thing from the entire series
As a person who has watched this show after discovering it back in 2015, I would give this film a 10/10. The animation throughout this whole film was insane, the characters were on point especially when it came to Louise and her character development, we get to see most of the background characters who we were introduced throughout the series, the song's and the soundtrack were a bop and catchy as heck Lucky Ducks is my #1 Song, and overall the story was a Bob's Burgers Adventure that we have been waiting to see on the big screen. A lot of people complained how "bad" the movie was, they didn't like the songs, and say that they were "real fans" of the show but let's be real they weren't fans of the show and just loves to add bad reviews.
The movie fit in with the series seamless without feeling like an expensive double episode (looking at you, SpongeBob movie), it didn't feel like an "ending" or a random holiday special that we'd forget about until it cropped up in a RUclips video down the line.
Disagree on the supporting characters, it would have felt ham fisted to get them all to have their share of screen time, it is a story about the family and keeping a svelte cast makes sense. As for Gene and Tina having smaller subplots I personally enjoyed this, there are so many episodes of the show where Gene and Linda get a big story arc or it's all about Tina and Jimmy Jr. but the ones I like best are Bob and Louise because I like their relationship dynamic the best so maybe I am biased. Gene is my favourite character for his wit and one liners, Linda is insufferable at times but completes Bob yin to yang style and is hilarious, Tina is a strong sensual woman going through some things and also zombie butts but Bob is relatable and I think Louise has the best chaotic personality and character depth of them all so taking centre stage for the story makes sense, even the bit where they almost died worked lasting so long because it was so unexpected and seemingly hopelessly final. I loved the movie, it did such great fan service and I will go see it again next week, now I can listen to the soundtrack until then with no worry of spoilers, it's so catchy. TL;DR if you have not seen this movie go see it, it is brilliant.
Such a wholesome show, and the movie did not disappoint in that regard either - LOVE IT! It's good that they didn't need to cram every recurring regular character into the story, and by that standpoint I think it might have been too tricky to try and allow big developments with each of the kid's stories alongside the main plot.
I did feel the same way it was like a much longer good episode since it focused only on a few characters (At least Teddy got sometime) but was funny and enjoyable. I really think a good ending would be to finally see Louise's head/hair but I get it. I really feel like Bob Burgers is such a rare show to be out this long and hasn't jumped the shark.
I knew it was a musical but seeing how fluid and bouncy the dancing was, was beautiful~ I was NOT expecting the plot to be as great as it was, I legit didn't see the twist coming
I've seen a few episodes of bob's burgers, under 20 I'd say but I thought the movie was pretty decent. I didn't love it as much as I wanted to but I still liked it.
I loved this movie and I was able to finish the series before I watched the movie and my dad who has never watched one episode of the show loved the humor and everything about the movie I'm glad I experienced it
This is one of the only movies that I consistently rewatch as an adult, and my boyfriend and I watched it after i had surgery and was in recovery because of how much its a comfort to me
it’s such a great series, a good movie and definitely loved how it showcased each character’s personality traits. so even if you don’t or haven’t seen the show it introduced the characters so nicely to audiences.
Ive neve seen bobs burgers but saw this movie because of a friend. I was surprised, I really enjoyed it and could easily understand what the plot was without ever seeing the series Personally I feel like it was a good move to not add in too many characters, the amount of characters was perfect enough for me to remember them Its a very entertaining movie and great for people who are new to the show too :))
I saw the movie on my birthday with my friend and I thought it was such a cute and funny movie!!! I love Bob;s burgers so much and the movie had me smiling the whole time!
i really enjoyed the movie, the songs were so fun along with the choreography, but i agree, i wish we got to see more of the characters we know and love, i would forget they were even apart of the world and then they just show up, cant wait to see what's next with bobs burgers though because the animation was CRISP
I don't know I feel like the go-kart introduction was natural for Mr. Fishowner, and like the stuffed animal bit is noticeable on rewatch, but in the moment it's like "oh those childlike Fishowner brothers and their wild imaginations", it's believable in the world of Bob's Burger that these characters can hate children as well as want to show off their super cool club house to these children.
2:49 1) If Tina and Gene didn't get anything to do people would have complained 2) I don't think everything in a story needs to advance the plot. In real life people have things going on that don't advance a 3 act structure.
5:30 I think that is a dumb complaint. Not every character is present in every episode so why would they be present in the movie. *Sarcasm:* The Spongebob Squarepants movie sucks. Larry the Lobster didn't get much to do. The my leg guy was so underutilized.
I absolutely love this movie. Everything was amazing from the animation to the plot to the character interactions. I love putting on as background noise while I’m cleaning or studying and I’ll even sing along to the songs or mouth along some of the best lines. 10/10
I agree that Louise definitely had the biggest arc out of all three of the kids. I love the journey she goes on because she's always perceived as this sarcastic and savvy kid throughout the series, who's too grown up for boybands and other things that are perceived as "girly" or "babyish". But she's 9. She's still a kid. I think by the end of the movie, she finally accepts that she has a right to be who she is.
I actually didn't guess who was the killer, maybe I'm just dumb, but in the show Felix tried to kill them, but because of his power it worked out, so I honestly thought it could be either of the brothers.
the gocart scenes as you explain now it make sense but at the time we were watching the scene it was a little mindblowing that it connected to the cousin's evil plot
...I saw it on the first day. I didn't hate it, but it didn't like how dark it was. I know there has been death/high stakes/attempted murder in the series before but this was way dark. I watch Bob to feel happy. The music wasn't that good. It was just okay for me. Plus we don't actually get to see Lousie without her ears, which would have been ***awesome***
Lots of good reviews for the movie so it must be better than I thought. I just couldn't get into it, it all seemed very low effort and I kept waiting for it to get going. The plot was weak and the songs felt forced without any fun to them. If this was cut back to half an hour it would be one of the lesser Bob's shows.
I really liked the movie but I have to say the premise about Louise's ears was disappointing because I thought it was leading up to something epic that happened to her. But no it was just about her being brave and that was it. The scene where she was looking into the hole made me think "oh so it was something traumatic." But no. It was just about her being brave which for goodness sake that was a let down. We ALREADY knew that she was brave. The movie made me tear up but it just didn't meet my expectations. We didn't even see her without the hat. They made such a big deal about the bunny ears I expected there to be a reason that she is the only kid in school who wears a hat. I thought there was like a burn scar or something. Not giving her a good reason to wear the hat made the plot weaker and that sucks because it was so good up until the end.
At first, I was thrown at how the characters danced. Like, it was so weirdly smooth and animated (as in a lot of movements), while the show only had a lot of movement in certain parts. I got used to it pretty quickly. Besides, the songs were entertaining anyway. In fact, I found the movie to be absolutely hilarious, as did the other people in the theaters. Though I did find it weird how Louise was so defensive about her ears and being called a baby. If I recall correctly, in the show, she would plot revenge on people who messed with her ears.
I watched the movie at movie tavern and they had a promotional bobs burger called “No more Mr. side fries” it was so good and the movie was a solid 8/10 for me it’s my favorite show of all time I enjoyed the jokes and caught the subtle jokes. I could’ve done without the singing but over all a good movie.
While I do agree that it was probably really apparent about Grover being the murderer, I also was thinking it could be Felix since this is something he’s already tried to do
Exactly... A long episode. And a boring cruddy episode at that. Mine and my partner's favourite show and we left early. We don't need a musical. We don't need a movie for the same of a movie.
I love spoilers!!! I can’t wait to go and see this! I may be the only person in life that wants to know everything before I walk in so I don’t have to overthink it when I see it… I can just enjoy it
I really liked the movie and thought it was so fun but I honestly thought they could’ve done more with Louise’s arc. They mention her ears early on then kinda forgot about them until the last 30 minutes until the scene with Bob’s Mom. I think if they had her conflict with bravery be more tied to her ears throughout the movie then the word baby then that scene (which is already a home run) be a grand slam. But maybe I’m just being too nit picky 🤷♂️
The biggest problem I have with modern Bob's Burgers is the weird restraint the writers have put on themselves to give every main character a storyline in every episode. Sometimes it's just not needed and it ends up killing the pacing.
I really like bobs burgers but the movie was just meh, a long episode really. A musical where everyone sings horribly n can't hold a note isn't a good time, except Louise she sang well. Shoulda been a straight to streaming home premiere, would've made more money that way probly.
as a long time fan i was actually a little disappointed the art style is very cool but i feel like the plot was iffy, i have seen better plots from the episodes that would have made an amazing movie and i think the movie plot would have been better as an episode all that considered still cool to see bob and the family hit the big screen
I'd give this a 8 out of 10 I expected more comedy than it had but all though the animations and small amount of comedy and the story line was good. I grew up watching bobs burgers so it made it worth for me to watch.
I’ve seen this movie before seeing this video at all and all i can say is that it is amazing (dont click read more or you will see spoilers but if you dont care thats fine) ok now that anyone who dosent care came here, i loved the plot, although i agree that they didnt use characters like rudy, jimmy jr, mr frond, characters like that but even without it was really great and amazing, the songs were great, everything was! But one thing that gets to me is that idk what the heck to call that sound gene made from a napkin despenser and a spoon
First off, I am one of the hugest fans there are. I have a collection of merch and everything. But to be honest.... I wasn't impressed. I have seen many episodes that were a lot better than the movie, in fact. The first song is okay, but way too long. The lucky ducks was a GREAT song, but was also too long. And the sort-of off-kilter singing that the Fischoeder cousin does is jist dumb and annoying in every sense of the word. Some positives... Obviously the animation was top tier. No complaints. Seeing cute little Bob and his mom was the highlight for me. She's the prettiest Bob's Burgers character I've ever seen. The 20-minute climax of the movie was really the only thing that wasn't "meh" story wise. I may watch it again at home, but I give the movie a 7
I know they need conflict to make the movie and I did love the movie, but teeeechnically because Fischoder was negligent in taking care of a documented problem for years, the Belchers could have refrained from paying their rent or possibly even sue him for lost revenue. Dumb observation but it bugged me to no end
one thing about the movie i noticed was it definitley felt like there was some dialouge from jimmy pesto that they obviously had to cut out last minute. wouldve been great to see him talking in the movie but its understandable why not given the situation with the voice actor. just felt like there was something there that was cut out last minute
Spoiler warning!!!!!!!!! I’m gonna say that Tina and genes role aren’t for them selves because the kids have their own story in a way because it’s about them trying to build confidence by saving the restaurant cause at the end of the movie they all accomplish what they were worried about Tina talks to jimmy junior, Gene plays at the wonder wharf, and Louis does the trick and takes her hat off
This is a good movie I just wish the best of the songs more also I wish they would explode Grovers plan For parking add gift shops taking up the Belchers neighborhood I mean that’s the only part of his plan that’s not really explain it
I'm torn on this movie. It's was freaking hilarious, but the first act dragged on way too long, the villain was way to obvious, and it was unexpectedly dark.
One thing I noticed is that despite being a theatrical movie based on a long-running show, it didn't feel the need to cram in every named character that appeared in the show - we actually see more of Bob's late mother than we do Big Bob.

They handled Louise's character in a good way and done it in a very epic fashion, by putting that arc in a movie.

I was surprised, I really enjoyed it and could easily understand what the plot was without ever seeing the series
Personally I feel like it was a good move to not add in too many characters, the amount of characters was perfect enough for me to remember them
Its a very entertaining movie and great for people who are new to the show too :))
I like how teddy tripped over the same sidewalk part that tina tripped over in the beginning of the movie
The animation really reminded me of watching the curious George movie it was a nice semi nostalgic feeling
I really loved this movie but it def felt more like "Louise the Movie"
I loved it, minus the reveal. It's like everything literally grinded to a hault. Didn't need grover Fischoder's song at all.
I actually didn't guess who was the killer, maybe I'm just dumb, but in the show Felix tried to kill them, but because of his power it worked out, so I honestly thought it could be either of the brothers.
Seem this movie 4 times so far. I’m OBSESSED
the gocart scenes as you explain now it make sense
but at the time we were watching the scene it was a little mindblowing that it connected to the cousin's evil plot
We waited so long for this movie and it did not disappoint.
...I saw it on the first day.
Totally agree it feels like a long episode of Bobs Burgers in a good way
I watched the movie at movie tavern and they had a promotional bobs burger called “No more Mr. side fries” it was so good and the movie was a solid 8/10 for me it’s my favorite show of all time I enjoyed the jokes and caught the subtle jokes.
Probably the best movie I have seen ever
Wouldn’t be surprised if it got an Oscar
As a fan of the series, I definitely enjoyed it.
I think the songs were a little to long and and not as catchy, but the plot was still enjoyable in same way as the show.
This movie got me into Bob’s burger
I love spoilers!!! I can’t wait to go and see this! I may be the only person in life that wants to know everything before I walk in so I don’t have to overthink it when I see it… I can just enjoy it
Man did you see those menu prices. Hell yeah I’d go there for that and his tasty burgers 🍔
This was one of my favorite movies of the year I loved every second even if your not a bobs burgers fan there’s something for everyone too enjoy
The biggest problem I have with modern Bob's Burgers is the weird restraint the writers have put on themselves to give every main character a storyline in every episode. Sometimes it's just not needed and it ends up killing the pacing.
What I want is to see Jimmy Jr's mom and for her to take over Jimmy pestos restaurant since the voice actor is gone.
I grew up watching bobs burgers so it made it worth for me to watch.
i went to go watch this with my best friend and i honestly enjoyed it more than i thought i would.
I’ve seen this movie before seeing this video at all and all i can say is that it is amazing
(dont click read more or you will see spoilers but if you dont care thats fine)
ok now that anyone who dosent care came here, i loved the plot, although i agree that they didnt use characters like rudy, jimmy jr, mr frond, characters like that but even without it was really great and amazing, the songs were great, everything was! But one thing that gets to me is that idk what the heck to call that sound gene made from a napkin despenser and a spoon
I really want a Fischoder prequel spin-off
First off, I am one of the hugest fans there are. I may watch it again at home, but I give the movie a 7
That's a generous rating
@@aGoodPoundin too generous for sure
this movie made me so happy
I know they need conflict to make the movie and I did love the movie, but teeeechnically because Fischoder was negligent in taking care of a documented problem for years, the Belchers could have refrained from paying their rent or possibly even sue him for lost revenue. Dumb observation but it bugged me to no end
feels like an animated Series of Unfortunate Events movie
I loved it! Very fun and I felt relaxed watching it
Where'd you get clips of the movie from? Closest I can find is shity camera footage
one thing about the movie i noticed was it definitley felt like there was some dialouge from jimmy pesto that they obviously had to cut out last minute. wouldve been great to see him talking in the movie but its understandable why not given the situation with the voice actor. just felt like there was something there that was cut out last minute
what happened with the voice actor? I thought he and Bob shared the same va.
@@burch8440 nope, the voice actor for jimmy pesto was involved in the capital roots in january (2021? or 2020) and he was fired following that
This movie was hilarious solid plot and character progression
RSR did have a line. "I heard rabies."
Yes
I loved this movie, Saw it for my birthday.
It felt more like a TV special than a theatrical movie (save for the animation)
But it was enjoyable 😎
It is a DAMN shame this film didn’t do good at the Box Office. It was so damn great, the movie felt like the “Series Finale”. Wholesomely Epic.
I love watching your how much videos and i have a famly that would be great thr family from the middle
What he forgot to say was that the movie is just one large intro ❤️
Spoiler warning!!!!!!!!!
I’m gonna say that Tina and genes role aren’t for them selves because the kids have their own story in a way because it’s about them trying to build confidence by saving the restaurant cause at the end of the movie they all accomplish what they were worried about Tina talks to jimmy junior, Gene plays at the wonder wharf, and Louis does the trick and takes her hat off
This is a good movie I just wish the best of the songs more also I wish they would explode Grovers plan For parking add gift shops taking up the Belchers neighborhood I mean that’s the only part of his plan that’s not really explain it
You don't HAVE to be a fan, but it certainly helps
It would be funny if at the last minute we found out it was Ginger.
The animation made it feel more realistic
The murderer was obvious, but they still made work
Yes. Simple answer.
Where can I watch this film online for free
Yes 9/10
I found the movie to be boring and bleh
Just a long episode, should've been straight to streaming.
I'm torn on this movie. It's was freaking hilarious, but the first act dragged on way too long, the villain was way to obvious, and it was unexpectedly dark.
I thought it was funny as hell but more of a couch movie than theaters. Saw it in the theater and kinda wished I was laying back on the couch.
