Fair play to you getting out and doing those hill reps. They are HARD
Yea absolutely hate this session :(
That session looked like hard work. 😂 Also, it was a tough week! #keeponkeepingon
Yea definitely not run correctly. Next time it will more reps but I'll make sure I nail it.
@@TheWu always try and make the first one the slowest 🙂
These are the weeks you'll look back on and be glad you did what you did - maintaining that consistency. And the marathon pace block run was definitely sensible to back off. Just a potential curve-ball turned into a decent week banked 💪
Yea it's so early on so I'm just taking it day by day, I know in a few weeks time I'm going to start hitting these sessions much better.
Enjoying your videos Will, started watching when you did Manchester in April. Think you’re approaching AMS just right and allowing for lots of recovery time in between sessions. I’m not training for a marathon but I’m about to do my first triathlon and then Manchester 1/2 in Oct, my first attempt at a half😬
Ah thanks so much. Triathlons look really demanding I'm sure you will transfer well to a half marathon. Manc 1/2 is a really big event , never done it myself though.
@@TheWu Thanks Will, it’s a sprint triathlon so a taster you could say (750m swim/25K bike/5K run). I am doing the bike section on a mtb so that’ll take about 1h, the swim say 20min and the run say 27 min so with the 2 transitions I might just break 2 hours😊). Good luck with AMS and I’ll follow your journey closely as I’m already subscribed✅
That was a pretty decent week considering you were ill and felt like it hadn’t gone well!
Just found your channel as I'm training for my very first marathon! And all of a sudden I thought... wait... I know a Sheffield hill when I see one! 😂 Absolutely BRUTAL!!!! 😅
Great video! Following and supporting your journey to Amsterdam! 🥳🥳🥳
Hi, Thanks! Thats awesome, which marathon will you be running?
@@TheWu No worries!
I'm Nervous and excited all at the same time 😅 I'll be running Yorkshire on the 15th October! 🙂
@@thristytothrive Big event that one! You can watch my video on it. It was a very bad day for me hahah. Good luck and please do let us know how training goes further down the line.
@@TheWu will definitely subscribe and will have a look on your channel for the video! ✨
documenting my zero to 26.2 journey here on RUclips, but I’m on week 8 of 18 … so a bit to go yet! 😅😁 appreciate the support 🥹🙏🏻 and also your videos for the inspiration! 😁 so thank you for sharing them! 🥰🙏🏻 have the best week of training ahead 🥰✨✨✨✨
Good effort
Thanks, The session is coming around again soon :(
nice bro
Thanks for the view!
My glutes been on fire recently what stretch you recommend ? Love your video 😊
There is a good few glute stretches I do I'll show you on some future episodes!
Nice video Will. I’m soon to start my hill reps, but I never know how steep the hill I’m doing reps on needs to be! Any advice?
From what i've seen in training plans it depends on the rep length. If you are doing like hill strides/sprints it can be shorter and steeper. The hill I used was quite steep overall but it's more long and gradual as the rep was quite long. 400m reps for an uphill is normally for marathon training and would be around or longer than 90s (for me/my pace). It's a hard session to get right really as you have seen I went too fast and it ruined my session. I have done this same session 90's up on this same hill and ran consistent x12 reps! at sub 4 pace for each one (during 2022 pre manchester marathon PB) So you can see how far and rusty I am at the early stage of this camp.
@@TheWu thank you, that is really helpful. I think I’ve been trying to run my longer reps on too great of an incline
Havent ran for 2 weeks including holiday and heavy holiday, cant believe the amount of fitness I have lost in such a short space of time. Is this normal or will the pick up be as fast as the drop off?
Yes I find the pick up come quickly, maybe 4 weeks in I'll start to feel good. Taking small breaks you don't lose loads of fitness, It just takes a while to get the body back to it. All the training stacked up from before adds up and you realise when the pick up happens you are stronger and better.
On the hill reps I think you didn’t give yourself enough recovery time. Going hard at the hills is right, but you didn’t give yourself a chance to run similar pace reps cos you weren’t fully recovered between efforts.
Yea I'll do another hill rep session in a couple of weeks so will make sure it's run a lot better.
Definitely too fast on that first hill rep 😅
Yep, not run these for ages. I looked back on a similar session, the same hill and similar distance/time up. Session from pre 2022 manchester. All were 3:55-4:00 and x12! I'll get much better at doing this session as the weeks go by.
