Hello! I hope you enjoy this and would appreciate your support by liking and subscribing. If you can forgive the rather simple imagery as commissioning specific artwork is off the table at the moment. Thanks so much for watching!

I enjoy Warhammer lore vids to listen to when I fall asleep.
Also, this may be a crackpot-theory, except one where the crack has been replaced with warpstone, but what if skaven are actually descended from humans? What if some of the men of Kavzar prayed to the cursed bell, and received salvation by being turned into the Horned Rat's first children?
I somewhat like that idea, since it makes the creation of the skaven more dynamic, it's then not just that the Horned Rat had the power to make the skaven, that would seems a bit simple, but that he had to first oppress people enough that they were willing to beg him for mercy, and only then was he granted the power to create a people in his image.
I know that idea may seem very random, but given that there is acutal precedence for transforming other creatures into skaven, with The Curse of the Horned Rat, aka The Dreaded Thirteenth Spell, it's not the craziest idea, especially since that spell has such an ominous name. The dramatic double name makes it stand out, and connects it especially to the Horned Rat in both cases. So it makes me wonder if that spell echos an evolution of his first creation of the skaven.

Some very good ideas there for sure! I love the idea that the Skaven are descended from Humans! I do also wander how much of an influence Morsleib had during the time of the great calamity very early on in in the timeline. All that warpstone being introduced must of caused a lot of mutation!

@@TheFriendlyEnglishman It makes some sense that the Horned Rat would've been born from the fear people had about the ruination of all civilization after the Great Calamity, fear of corruption and downfall after the failure of the Great Plan, and their fear of the new Chaos Moon. I'm not sure if the rat theme was initially inherent to him, or if it was more something he sort of picked up as a gimmick to fill out his niche as a god/great daemon, as he developed his identity.
The destruction of Kavzar was presumably the thing that cemented him as a god-like entity, as a sacrifice. I assume the stranger was either his avatar, or his first worshiper. If he was a worshiper, I'm curious what became of him, did he become some sort of skaven leader, or daemon, or was he also tricked and died horribly?
The story is kind of weird though. If it's a story in-universe, then how come it tells of the humans getting eaten by rats in the dwarf ruin? Who would've survived to tell of that?
I guess it might've been pieced together from testimony from refugees, and then from some explorers who found evidence the last humans had entered the dwarf ruin, and gotten eaten, but the skaven themselves were perhaps busy moving deeper underground at that point, after having consumed everything of worth in the city, allowing the explorers the chance to wisely leave the tunnels and the city.
Or maybe the skaven were simply encountered around skavenblight after the city's fall, and the bit about the city's last inhabitants dying in the tunnels was just sort of to fill in the narrative between the bits the refugees could tell of, and the evident fact that giant rats had taken over the city.

Despite several errors (sentence structure and slips in words) this is still one of my favorite lore videos.
Your voice is absolutely divine and I’m looking forward to more content from you.
Legit the best RUclips voice in lore since Vaatividya.
