Lucuis Malfoy trying to kill Harry with Avada Kedavra at the end of the movie. The actor who is playing him did read that spell and he knew that it was a bad one so he improvised that. Not knowing it was the killing curse but the kept it that way😅

Something the book explains better is that Salazar Slytherin didn’t trust muggle borns because the school was founded during a time that muggles were attacking anyone they suspected of being magical. He was worried they would betray the school or that their parents, being muggles, would betray the school. More understandable than just thinking they were inferior.
However mass murder is never the answer so he still wasn’t a good person.
I don't know that I'd say "never." That seems a bit much. ;-)

Wish they could make a movie of those times. Probably around the 15th Century. It'd be interesting to hear what the wizarding world thought about the Malleus Malificarum. I'd guess it would be the most hated book.

When Jason Issac (Lucius Malfoy) was leaving Dumbledore's office at the end, the production team saw his leg go flying and thought he tripped. They were going to retry the scene when Jason explained that he was kicking Dobby down the stairs. They then agreed with him, just rolled with it and animated the scene
Poor guy was given so much sh!t for using "Avada..." at the end there. He said they never told him what to say and he didn't know what it meant lol. Actors should read more.
"Poor guy"! 😂 maybe but makes it a crazy moment when we learn what it means and when we remember that he starts to say it.

Fun Fact: Harry's ancestor was the inventor of the Skele-Gro stuff that Harry used to re-grow the bones in his arm, and that's why his parents were so rich.
Eh they were a family of well know potion makers but their fortune comes from make a line of hair care products potions, the irony being that hairs hair is described as uncontrollable which his family’s products could help with
For some context you're missing from the books.... Because of Harry's upbringing, he is distrustful of adults actually helping him... that's a big reason he doesn't tell the adults about things he's noticed. Second, in regard to Harry purchasing anything for Ron or the other Weasleys.. They are very prideful and would not take well to "charity." Also, Ron struggles with envy.
Not only that but Harry in the books (3rd one I believe after he runs always from the Durslys) has said that the gold has to last him through his 7 years of Hogwarts and cant afford to spend it foolishly on any cool thing. Like the Firbolt broom. He needs to spend it wisely. Although he does have a lot of gold the first movie made it look like he has a moutaine and almost limitless supply
Another difference between the book and movie; in the book, when Draco called Hermione a mudblood, she had NO idea what it meant. Later, at Hagrid's hut, it was RON who explained what it meant (between slug burps). This makes sense, because, even IF Hermione had read the term in a book, she grew up in the muggle world, and thus had no prior exposure to the word. Ron is far more familiar with the social gravity behind the term, having grown up in the wizarding world.

@@ethanquirk28 I’m pretty sure I’ve read that there was no tuition for Hogwarts. I think Harry just didn’t have much experience with money (I’m sure the Dursleys never gave him any) and he wasn’t really sure how much he had.

Hagrid was expelled and his wand snapped as a 13 year old orphan because Tom Riddle framed him. Dumbledore arranged for Hagrid to live with the groundskeeper at the time and learn his trade.
In the next one a new actor will be playing Dumbledore because Richard Harris passed away after the second movie.
And Hagrid repaired his wand and hid it in his umbrella! ☂️

I understood that Voldemort had transferred some of his powers when he tried to kill baby Harry Potter and I was just a child reading the 2nd book.....
So Ash is smart but that's a logic conclusion.
Dumbledore confirms it at the end of the second book and makes it clear at the end of the film: the fact that you understand snakes surely comes from that.
It's more or less the purpose of this second volume to introduce the fact that Voldemort created his own Nemesis lol So keep your comments to yourself because I don't have the impression that Ash has seen or read the history.
The author prepares us for the concept of "H"s early on and Dumbledore is surely slowly coming to terms with the full implications of this "link" here.

Regarding who is hiring the teachers, specifically the defense against the dark arts teachers... It doesn't really matter. In the books, they explain that this particular class is jinxed. It's been decades since anyone (qualified or not) held the position for longer than a year. Almost nobody applies for it anymore, so the school generally takes whoever is brave enough to apply.
And Dumbledore also wanted to make Lockhart pay for stealing credit from the witches and wizards who did those acts, two of whom Dumbledore actually knew. Lockhart only applied for it when he heard Harry Potter was attending there.

14:03 Chickens haha we live in the middle of the woods, so spiders are very common every year, we got chickens 5 years ago and haven't saw one spider since. They gobble the spiders right up and get rid of them all. They're free range chickens too, so they go around eating whatever they can find, they're not in a cage. I'll recommend you to read the books (or just hear them through audiobook) because a lot of things were changed from it. One example would be that Ron's character was just done to be the comedic relief while all his "cool" parts were given to Hermione (because of ... well you can imagine why).
So when it comes to the acting and such.. I think that the actor did fine with what he was given.

I am so excited for you guys to get through these movies! You've already seen it get a bit darker than the first film. They grow with their audience for sure. You see it go from fun adventures for kids into very dark, very scary, political horror almost. And the kids do get much better at acting. Can't wait for the last two movies!!

The cosplaying is excellent, because Hannah as Draco looks the same from the musical version (an American college made a series of musicals with a comedic twist on the Harry Potter movies and books. The 3rd Harry Potter movie is my favorite! Really excited for you two to react to it! The acting of the kids will get better and the cinematography is superb. It will look different from the first two movies as different directors take over and Professor Dumbledore will look younger because the actor Richard Harris passed on.
