Same. I've only cried twice during a movie. That was one of those times.
It really feels like a testament to the actor's skills, considering he has like five lines in the whole film.

The movie really did Krum dirty. In the book, he has this really interesting progression of being this larger that life sports star, who Harry discovers is actually a very humble and a super solid bro. In the movie he's just kind of a beefcake lol

Barty Crouch Jr specifically chose Neville to highlight the Cruciatus Curse because he knew how much it would bother him. Crouch was one of the Deatheaters who tortured Neville's parents and using him for the demonstration was sick way of reminding him.
I know in the books they do explain it all together but for some reason they like split up they showed it in this movie that specific Spell bothering him so much but didn't give you the explanation of why until the next movie when he tells Harry what happened to his parents
@@thelma48 The movie version of 5 does expand on this with Neville telling Harry, but in the 4th movie they show in the flashback what happened when Karkaroff says that Frank Longbottom was tortured.
Appreciate you diving into the books. I definitely enjoy the films for what they are, but books are definitely where it's at.

@@BGjunior in the books Neville's parents aren't dead they've been driven insane from the curse repeatedly used on them by Crouch and Lestrange and probably a couple of other Death Eaters too they're in a mental institution for wizards they're not the only ones in the same Hospital either to call back to the second movie when Ron's wand backfires on Lockhart so he's at the hospital too and he still doesn't remember who he is

5:30 Fun fact: In the book, they actually do talk about a character called Ali Bashir who's trying to get licence to sell flying carpets in the UK, as he thinks it's a very good family transportation medium. But, he's not able to because the British ministry of magic classified flying carpets as a "muggle artifact" and has imposed an embargo on all flying carpets sales in the UK. He keeps pestering Ron's dad to get him a licence, as he's the head of the department of misuse of muggles artifacts. 😂

They would have to enforce it against Snape first. I know people love him but he was the poster child for bullies. He may have done some heroic things but he wasn’t a nice person.

Everyone has to stop blaming Michael Gambon for that scene.The director clearly told him to do it that way and approved of it in the editing. And he never gets that angry again for the rest of the movies. I think, because of every fan pointing out "calmly"

7:50 someone might already have written this but in the books they actually didn’t use Hedvig to send messages just because Sirius knew everybody would recognize Harry’s owl.
As a mother of two boys I cry literally EVERY time Cedric’s dad cries out “that’s my son, that’s my boyyy!!! Its just heartbreaking! The actor portraying Cedric’s father just nailed that scene! Awful! But amazing! Great reaction guys!!! Onto Order of the Phoenix! See u there!

Remember that Harry's and Voldemort's wands are twins, they share the same core. When twin wands are forced to battle each other, they refuse, they connect instead and try to overpower each other. This is where the courage, the character, the intentions of the owners come into play. In this scene, Harry accepted, almost welcomed the possibility of death, something Voldemort was never able to do. Therefore his courage won, his wand overpowered Voldemort's.
When that happened, a very rare phenomenon occurred. Dumbledore mentions "Priori incantatem" but he doesn't explain. Basically one wand forces the other to regurgitate the last spells it performed in reverse order. That is why the ghost-like figures of Voldemort's last victims appeared.
Moreover, at this point Voldemort has no idea what happened. He doesn't know that the wands are twins, so he is totally confused, he thinks that Harry won the duel due to some unknown superior skill.
The movies gloss over the true nature of magic. There are strict rules to it, it's not like anything is possible. Also, there's a lot more to magic than just waving a wand and saying the spell. The character, the mental strength, the courage and the intention of the witch or wizard also counts. Also: every act has consequences which might not be immediate.
@Blake N Exactly. Which also goes straight against the grain of the story. I will quote just one phrase from Dumbledore here: “'You are protected, in short, by your ability to love! 'The only protection that can possibly work against the lure of power like Voldemort's!' ”
Cedric's dad's reaction to his son being dead felt so raw and real.

Love the dynamic between these 2. Literally like an opposites attract. Ash is the funny/joking one thats kinda immature and Hannah is the proper lady thats mature. I can tell he makes her laugh and thats probably why they are so good together

In the maze, Harry used a spell that made his wand point north in his hand leading him to the center and the trophy. There were many more challenges in the maze, not shown in the film. Huge backstory to Barty Crouch Jr. and Sr. as well.

Well, in a real maze, the path would initially lead you north of the center, so what do you do then? :-)

Yeah I remember when I first read it, when Barty Crouch Sr died, I was actually shocked. Like 'hold on... Am I reading this correctly???' mostly because it was just so sudden and violent.
They also didn't explain really that moody picked up ticks from the dark wizards he had hunted, that the reason he was so good (and so feared) was because he was willing to go as deep as he had to to get into their minds and find them.

Fun Fact: Director Mike Newell was not aware that Alan Rickman wore black contact lenses for the role of Snape until one day when he was complimenting him on the amazing shade of his eyes. Alan Rickman leaned over and popped one of the lenses out.
Also, at least one full-scale dragon was constructed on the set, which could even blow real fire. The dragon was created partially from the basilisk puppet seen in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002).
That makes sense that they used the Basilisk's puppet, lol.

I must’ve seen this movie Six or seven times and I still get emotional about Cedric’s death and his father’s pain. Great reaction as always, can’t wait for the rest of the series!
The actors for the Weasley twins, Fred & George, are twins in real life.
All the schools are co-ed in the books.
Hannah's right. Ron was jealous in a way. He's been overshadowed by his 5 older brothers his whole life then his best friend is the most famous kid in their world. Ron usually handles it really well but Harry becoming a champion just pushed him over the edge for a bit.
The dragons they pulled out of the pouch are just magical replicas not real dragons. The dragon's chain didn't break in the book.
Clueless Ron just realized one of his best mates is actually a girl. He's jealous but doesn't really realize it or know why.
You're forgetting that Harry is 3 years younger than the other contestants. He doesn't know as many spells as the older students. The kids like Ron & Hermione in the lake were never in any danger. They weren't going to die. The contestants were just meant to think so.

The wailing of Amos Diggory after losing his son gets me everytime... they really nailed the darker tone that these movies were heading towards starting in this one.
Recall from the first film that Harry's wand had a Phoenix feather in it. The Phoenix gave only one other feather--it was in Voldemort's wand. Because of this, the two wands can't hurt one another. That's why Harry was able to hang with Voldemort in the final duel.

Also those feathers came from Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix, and are the only two feathers he ever gave.

I think the Weasley family would have refused him outright if he tried to pay for them. To the parents harry is like another son to them. They take care of him to a degree. They are poor but they have pride in themselves and don't want any hand outs.
Slight amendment. Arthur takes care of him to a degree. Molly is straight up mama mode and that's her son too, even before he marries Ginny and makes it official. He's her kid from the second Ron, Fred, and George bring him to their house.

And IIRC the tickets Arthur Weasley got were free because he was good friends with the ministry's sports department guy so he hooked him up with the tickets.

Love the reaction! Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but in the books, the tasks actually had safety precautions. They were dangerous, but not as much as the movie portrays. I like the movie, but the amount of changes from the book is insane
14:59 This was explained in the books but the last Triwizard tournament before this was held in the 1700s and this one was made safe by ministry so nobody would die. But the director exaggerated lot of things in this movie like the Dragon task where the dragon breaks out and chases Harry when in the books it didn't.

They actually had nice tickets, provided by Ludo bagman. They made many choices in all the movies that are different and not properly explained.
And they hyped up Quidditch World Cup but didn't really put the match. Like wtf?! It was bloody brutal in the books and it would make a great scene. What a waste.
Alan Rickman’s performance is one of my favourite things about these movies
Harry gives Snape his just dues at the very end. Harry sees the strengths of Snape, not his negative aspects after the ultimate struggle.
They didn't have only boy or girl schools in the books. Both Beuxbatons and Durmstrang had male and female students. Plus they didn't have that weird introduction into the great hall either.
Cedric's dad's reaction always gets me. Seen this movie countless of times and I always end up sobbing.

I'm talking about the 70s, 80s, and 90s... I'm not much younger than Jo. One of the things the book series was trying to highlight was bullying, in all of its forms.

Krum was under the Imperius curse (the one they foreshadowed with the spider) that's why he only got rid of Fleur, attacked Cedric but didn't attack Harry, even when he was right next to him, his job was to make sure Harry gets to the portkey to end up in the graveyard so they can complete Voldemort's resurrection
Who was controlling Victor Krum? Barty Crouch Jr. (polyjuiced to look like Mad-Eye Moody). He was like a puppet. So Jr. tried to curse Fluer , then tried to curse Cedric, but Harry intervened, He did not try to curse Harry, because the whole plan was to get him to Voldemort by touching the trophy, which was a portkey to the graveyard.
If you look back you see Victor's eyes are glazed, whited out like a zombie.
The trick they played on the audience the whole first 2/3 of the movie was to make you think Moody was on Harry's side, when he was a real double agent. He murdered his own father, how Shakespearean is that?

The hostage in the lake was never in danger. They were put in enchanted sleep until above the surface.
The merpeople had agreed with Dumbledore to watch over the hostage, plus keep an eye on things over all.

The Batman is stellar. He may have starred in an entertainment franchise that Ash doesn't like but what the hell? - Robert Pattinson is just a great actor.
Watch The Lost City of Z, The Lighthouse, The King or Good Time. All outstanding performances.

The Lighthouse is pretty good, so is the Good Time and he is a talented actor and a fellow gamer.
But bloody hell, I hated him in Batman. The emo-sad-boi, post modern Batman is cringe af.TBF though, it wasn't really his fault, he wasn't the one who wrote the character.
But I get what Ash is saying, regarding Pattinson's aesthetic.
I didn't see the Pattinson Batman, but the Clooney and Kilmer were mostly forgettable. The villains were so overwhelmingly awful, that I can hardly remember any scenes with Batman from either movie.

I remember liking the villain in the movie though, the riddler was fun.
In the book they were all in the Minister’s box. Ron’s dad got the ticket the only downside (or so they thought at the time was having to share the box with the Malfoy’s.

Fun fact from the book: Ron actually had a Vivtor Krum figure from the World cup, who he always carried around and after he saw him with Hermione, he broke it.
Voldemorts main anger isn't that harry beat him it's that people mock him and downplay how powerful he is because of that failure because harry was a baby but it wasn't harry that did anything it was Lilly and a mother love that beat Voldemort and he knows that but unless he can kill harry people would always think that way about him which is why imo he's so angry towards harry and even makes jabs against Lilly to harry

omg! in this book Ron's dad mentioned something about flying carpets! I can't remember the whole context, but something about them being outlawed in britain, but sought after as a means of "family transport" because they can obviously carry more than a broomstick! So funny you'd say that.
Flying carpets were particularly popular in Asia and the Middle East, with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and Mongolia among the main nations using them. They were banned in Brittain due to being defined as a Muggle Artefact by the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects.

Because, brooms are also a muggle artefact, but the Brits overlook that, just because it’s their preferred transport?

The other two schools were co-ed. The movies just chose to make it all girls and all boys. But they had both genders and brought both genders to put their names in the cup.

But the thing is, the spell "Riddikulus" was specifically meant for countering that creature. Transfiguration is actually a very advanced magic only a few skilled adult wizards can do, much less do it on a large complex creature like a dragon (yes, complexity of the matter is also a factor, and the students are having a hard time just doing it on small simple things during their Transfiguration class). So no, Harry can't transfigure a dragon.
