Okay just some clarification since you guys understandably got a bit confused near the end: the book that Harry kept throughout the movie belonged to Snape when he was younger. His father Tobias Snape, a muggle, was neglectful and sometimes abusive, and his mother, Eileen Prince, was a witch so his blood status is half-blood. At some point during his school years, he decided to reject his father's name entirely, giving himself the moniker "The Half-Blood Prince" with his mother's maiden name instead. Him being the half-blood prince isn’t because he’s a Horcrux. A Horcrux is an object in which a witch or wizard has hidden a fragment of their soul in order to become immortal. As long as the object remained intact, so to did the soul fragment inside it, keeping the maker anchored to the world of the living, even if their body suffered fatal damage.

And that kid who is always blowing sh!t up (can't remember his name, but I think it's seamus?)is also considered a half blood - he has said his Dad is a muggle and his mom is a witch, unless his mother had muggle parents, which would mean she wasn't a pure blood who married a muggle man, would that then make him like Hermione and be considered "Mud Blood"? So also, by this way of thinking, nearly every Witch or Wizard in existence would be either half blood or "Mud Blood" unless every single ancestor they ever had was magical from day one, so would seem to be very improbable. Furthermore, this is just curiosity but, does this bloodline thing indicate/imply that all Wizards are originally from a separate race, and not human, (humans being regular muggles), or were all Wizards originally just regular people/muggles who discovered/learned to do Magic, in which case the whole pure blood thing is kind of silly, lol.
kind of also makes you think that the Wizard world of people are kind of like the Hapsburg families, with the need to keep bloodlines pure, - maybe someone should let them know how that turned out, lol.

It could've been the best out of all of them with all the cool history on voldemort and they could've fleshed out draco, but instead they turned it into some teen drama bullshit.
The whole search for the half blood prince is reduced to some throw away line at the end of the film. like wtf is this...

@@blondymonk1535 the worst adaptation is BY FAR Prisoner of Azkaban. I grew up watching the movies and there are many things in HP3 that I only understood when I first read the books, in 2020. They never explained who the Marauders are, they don't explain the Patronus can be an animal and therefore we never understand why Harry sees a doe and why he thinks it's his dad. We don't know why or how Snape, Lupin and Black know each other or how they know about the entrance to the Shrieking Shack underneath the Whomping Willow. We don't know about what crimes Sirius supposedly committed, we don't know why he attacked the Fat Lady.
Goblet of Fire leaves out a lot of plots, but they're all secondary plots like that other house elf for example. Half-Blood Prince should have explained about Prince being Snape's last name though, and it should have more of Voldemort's memories.

I have to come to Ginny's defense over her abysmal portrayal in the movies.
In the books, She had a way bigger role ever since book 5, but in the movie most of her lines were always given to Hermione.
The entire diner scene at the start never happened, so Harry never flirted with some random chick (not to mention that reading the Daily Prophet out in public so that a muggle can see it has to be borderline breaking wizarding law). He spend the summer at the Weasley house, and over that summer he slowly fell for Ginny, because now that he wasn't crushing on Cho anymore, he finally noticed her properly for the first time and how much she had developed from the timid little girl he knew.
As for Quidditch: Ginny got on the team in book 5 as a replacement for Harry as a seeker, due to Umbridge banning Harry from Quidditch as punishment. She had gotten really good as a chaser by playing with her siblings at home, so she got on the team in that position in book 6. She genuinely loves Quidditch and it's one of the things she and Harry have in common.
And ALL those cringy moments with her feeding Harry, or tying his shoes or helping him hide the book and then awkwardly kissing him: NONE of that happens in the book. In the book they get together when they have a passionate kiss in the spur of the moment during a victory celebration after winning the Quidditch cup that year and from then on were officially dating. Also Ginny and Dean properly broke up long before that, while this movie makes Ginny look like a two-timer, because we never get confirmation that her and Dean are done.
    Tl;dr:
Book Ginny = one of my favourite characters in the entire series. A fiery, passionate, but also insightful and calming addition to the Trio's circle of friends, who at times shows an understanding for Harry that even Ron and Hermione sometimes lack, already showing how well they work as a couple.
Movie Ginny = Badly underdeveloped, horribly written and stiffly acted character who looks like a last minute shoe-in love interest for Harry.

Some clarifications and fleshed-out info from the book (no spoiler beyond HP6 ending):
•The Potions book that owned by the Half-Blood Prince is just a regular old book. The book Dumbledore mentioned as Horcrux is Tom Riddle's diary in HP2 (destroyed).
•The alias "Half-Blood Prince" comes from Snape's disgust of his muggle lineage. His father is an abusive muggle, and his mother is a witch named Eileen Prince, so he's proud being a half-blood Prince.
•Voldemort is also a half-blood. His father's side (Riddles) are rich muggles and his mother's side (Gaunts) are poor wizards/witches. His mother bewitched Tom Sr. with love potion and they eloped. When she was pregnant with Tom (Voldy), she thought her husband might've fallen for her by now, so she stopped using love potion but he left her. Heartbroken, she sold her only family heirloom, left Tom on an orphanage and died shortly after. They say that a product of love potion will never know what love is, so that explains why Tom is what he is (though ofcourse along with other factors that made him bad).
•Tom after graduating from Hogwarts, hunted down and massacred the Riddles in their manor (family graveyard in HP4) and began searching for items that will be his Horcruxes.
•At this point of the plot (before book 7), Harry and Dumbledore deduced so far what some of the Horcruxes might be:
    -Tom Riddle's diary (destroyed)
-Marvolo Gaunt's ring (Marvolo is Tom's grandpa, Dumbledore destroyed it)
-Slytherin's locket (the necklace they hunted in the cave, also it's the family heirloom i mentioned above, but in the ending of HP6 it turned out to be switched with a fake)
    -Hufflepuff's cup
    -something from Ravenclaw
•Tom returned some time later to Hogwarts to apply for Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher but Dumbledore refused. Tom put a curse on the post so that's why DADA teachers never gets the position for more than a year. Dumbledore also suspected Tom for other motive, which turned later that he is after Four Founder's relics to turn into Horcrux. From my list above, he already has three except something from Griffindor's because Dumbledore unknowingly twarthed Tom's plan at that point.
•Ginny is a far more interesting character in the books. She is exceptionally skilled at magic (hence why she is invited at Slughorn party where Horace collects students of renown or with promising aspects). She's also a great flyer, she's a Chaser in Quidditch (scorer) and substitute Seeker when Harry isn't available. She's secretly been practicing at home because she's jealous of her brothers (Charlie is a great Seeker, the twins are Beaters, and now Ron is a Keeper, so their family are a bunch of great Quidditch players).

For that reason he could Heal Draco, for knowing the counter spell. This happened to Dumbledor's sister and thus he harbors guilt for not being there for her and I believe with "saving" kids like Tom and Harry he is trying to make up for that in some way.

Someone’s probably mentioned this already, but Harry had no idea what the spell would do when he used it on Malfoy, he’d just read it in the book throughout the year and tried it out in that moment. After he saw the effects on Draco was when they decided he had to get rid of it and left it in the room of requirement. The reason Ginny told Harry to close his eyes was so he didn’t know where it was put and wasn’t tempted to steal the book back and continue using it.

I’m honestly impressed with this reaction for multiple reasons. One of which is your understanding of Malfoys character. The actions from this movie are KEY to what happens in the next 2. I can’t wait to see your reactions for them. Especially for my favorite scene in the whole franchise that happens in Deathly Hallows Part 2. I love joining you two on your movie reaction journeys. Keep doing you Ash and Hannah!! 💪 ❤

Love this reaction. This is some dark stuff. Dumbledore being killed was shocking to me when I read the book. I couldn’t believe it. But seeing it like this was as sad as when I first read it. Two more movies to go. So much cool stuff ahead.

I still vividly remember first reading this book when it came out when I was a teenager. I was heading out the door to go read at the pool and I got to the part when Snape killed Dumbledore, and I was in so much shock that I just stood there with the door open, half way outside. I couldn’t believe it. I hurried back inside and flipped back to the previous page, feverishly reading over it all again. I don’t think I ever made it to the pool 😂

It kind of made sense that the mentor would have to die for Harry's story to really be completed. Makes more sense looking back.

9:15 the reasons why The Dark Art teacher always change each year is because in the book, Voldemort wanted that job, he came back to Hogwarts, and asked Dumbledore to made him to be the dark art teacher, but then Dumbledore rejected his request, from then the position cursed.
