RIP Wilson.
He had a soft touch, he was sturdy and resilient, and no matter what, he always bounced right back.
🤣 A great guy
And could take a real good pounding😏
He also never talked back!
Its crazy how you can cry your eyes out at a man losing a soccer ball
Except that one time, but we won't mention that...
This movie had the audacity to make an entire generation mourn the loss of a goddamn volleyball. People were legit sobbing in cinema when Wilson floated off, myself included XD
"Wilson" was symbolic of all the people he lost by pursuing his own selfish ambitions, especially the woman he loved.
It's a stupid ball my God
I chose to believe the ball didn't drift into a mid ocean trash pile, and instead, washed up on some distant shore and made some kid's day.
@@davestang5454His selfish ambitions? Wilson represented his only friend on an island for 4 years. It's not complicated.
😄 Yes! I bawled like a baby when Wilson got lost. You almost forget he’s a ball, lol.
He did want to leave the island, but for 4 years, it kept him alive. He had no idea he would survive the trip at sea, and that island was him leaving his only sure thing (life alone but alive) and risking it all to get back to his fiancé.
That's what I was gonna say. Its not an attachment of the place, its more of a "can't turn back now" moment.
In life, milestones are sometimes easily hidden. When he left, I think it was one of the most clearest examples of a milestone, life headed in a new direction and he realized it and he was watching the last 4 years of his life grow smaller and smaller in the distance. We all look back just like he did at the island. Example. Working a job for such a long time and moving on
Which is ironic, because his fiancee was actually casting HIM away. She was cheating on him even before he left.
@@bemhibbits4157 really? When does it reveal that?
@@marshallprince2583 It isn't a reveal. Watch it again and you'll realize that the movie is about her casting him away. Pay close attention to the dinner scene at the beginning.
I meeeeeean Hannah IS right. You can’t determine how a person enjoys THEIR gift. Once it’s gifted, it’s out of your hands!!!
When it's food or drink yes. Clearly you've never cooked for someone.
Right. Whatever the gift is, if they do with it exactly what they would do if they had bought it themselves, then it's a bit of a control issue if you want them to do differently.
@@jasonbourne5142 Nah, I believe just in general. Also, I’m a cook so I definitely HAVE cooked for more than one someone’s.
One of Tom Hanks greatest performances.
It was stupid of the Academy to give the Oscar to the Gladiator in 2000 instead of Hanks.
That’s a stretch, both were worthy of the award
Tell me just one tom Hanks Bad performance and i will give you 💰💯💯💯
@@dimitrakapa4887 His performance in Elvis was bad. I’m saying that as a fan of Hanks as well. That was not a good role for him at all lmao.
Wasn't Hanks in Mazes and Monsters? That satanic panic D&D movie?
Still a good performance.
yo, that analogy of the pocket watch and her being above the time was actually 5head big brain thinking. That blew my mind, ive seen this movie so many times and I never thought of that. Ash is kind of a genius.. I just started watching this YT channel and the dude is always saying some deep stuff but he does it in a funny way
Hannah definitely won the coffee debate lol. You got her a gift basically and she accepted it and is allowed to drink it/use it however she wants. Now if she threw it out then i'd definitely be on Ash's side! lol
Same here. Once you gifted someone (especially such a low value stuff, like a coffee, which wont for last, forever) something.. its out of your control and you can't complain about the treatment from the one you gifted it to.
She did not win. Reheating things is not as good.
imagine if a wife made dinner for her husband and he just waited till it got cold and then decided to rewarm it in the microwave and then eat it. i dont think the wife would like it.
Wilson is what saved his life. He created a friend for himself, a friend that he could have discussions with, talk about his feelings with, talk about his plans with. He created a friend so that he wouldn’t completely lose his sanity. Wilson was the best thing he did for himself imo
One of the great symbolisms of this movie: the entire time we're on the island, there is no music - adding to the sense of isolation.
Correct. The music gently fades in just as he breaks free of the island. Very symbolic.
Ironically, I think he feels like a cast away all over again when he returns home and sees the world has moved on without him. Much like when he first arrived at the island, he has to adapt to another new, foreign environment.
I made same comments. The woman he meets is country singer Lari White. She becomes his new "north star".
Hannah is a sweetie and can drink her coffee WHEN she wants to. Real love means no conditions, Ash. 😬 She seems to appreciate you. You guys are great to watch. Love your reactions. ❤
lmao my mans made it about him rather than the kind gesture
You should definitely have certain conditions when it comes to partners lol
Can females be simps too?
I could see her as a girlfriend .. and also my bank balance decease a lot :)
@@BennyH11 Females or Women?
You two are so fun together 😂 Hannah, love the emotional responses to all the movies the two of you have reacted to. And your reactions to Ash’s hilarious comments!
On Hannah’s side. If you get someone a gift or a treat, it’s for them to enjoy how they want. I could understand being angry if Hannah woke you up and made you go out to get her a coffee and then didn’t drink it til later. But you’re the one who chose to do this, so if you’re giving her a gift then just let her do what she wants with it.
I agree 100% with Hannah.
Also guys, you need to learn to pick your battles.
Sometimes it's best to just take a knee. Lol
You can either be RIGHT or you can be happy but you cant always be both.
Save yourself the argument and use some self control over your tongue and just let little things slide. No reason to lose your cool over it.
I personally also hold my tongue many times when my husband says or does things that I find irritating etc.
For one, he has a temper sometimes and I'd rather save myself the headache and just let it go unless it's something serious.
And it keeps the peace for longer.
I also try to be slow to anger and quick to forgive and not try to provoke him to anger.
Simply because I hate fighting and drama. And for the most part we are happy and inlove and get along.
We've been married for 18 years.
But I've learned to pick my battles and not allow every little thing to bother me as it would have in the earlier time in our relationship and marriage.
Where is the poll for this? I am curious who won lol
I'm with Ash!😂 If someone gets me something edible, where they had to go out of their way for me, then you best believe I'm gonna start eating/drinking it in front of them in that moment! So they can see that's I'm grateful :) BUTTTTT if I chose to save it for later, i wouldn't want the person to yell at me about it 😢. So I'm with Hannah too. 😂
❤❤❤
I thought this comment was about the film when I started reading it
A gift is a gift. No strings attached. RIP Wilson. Great video.
The line “I’ve got to keep breathing cuz tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring in” is my motto when things get hard. I tell it to my 3 girls and my wife. It’s so true and words to live by.
Yoooo....I SO needed that one, today!
❤
@@GullibleTarget how you holding up?
Hannah is a realist and Ash had to walk uphill in the snow ten miles to get that coffee. 😂
"WILSON!!!"
Fun Fact: This movie was filmed in two parts, with a one year break in between for Tom Hanks to get into shape for the rest of the movie. In that time, Robert Zemeckis filmed an entire other movie, "What Lies Beneath" (2000). He even used the same crew for both movies to ensure everyone was available and had steady work in between.
Also, I love that the writer knew, I'm gonna make people cry over a volleyball before this movie ends.
Watch What Lies Beneath it’s a spooky thriller.
what lies beneath is MY FAVORITE!!!!!!! SUCH an underrated classic!!! ❤
A friend of mine was absolutely petrified of flying. She flew from the UK to Florida, Disney, went to see her mate Mickey, they showed this as the in flight movie. She needed to be spaced out on vallium for the return flight.
That would be me.
Tom Hanks is really one of the only actors who can pull tears out of me.
Same…Tom in this and in Philadelphia gets me every time.
@minty fresh her father was a loving man always kissing and hugging her and her sisters 😂😆😂 not funny but funny 🤣
All over a freaking Beachball he named Wilson.
Before I saw The Green Mile, I would have agreed. Michael Clarke Duncan broke the spigot.
Tom Hanks is really one of the only actors who will repeatedly perform pee-acting
The coffee is a gift. It's nice you wanna give your girl a nice gift...especially in the morning. That said, you don't get to dictate how she uses that gift. Once it leaves your hand and goes into hers, your relationship with the coffee is ooooover....haha. Drink yours and mind your own. Love the reactions. Keep up the great work. 😉
A part at the ending, that I think you two missed, was the gate arch to the lady's property. At the beginning of the film, when FedEx was making a delivery, she was married, and the name over the gate arch read "Dick Bettina." At the end of the movie, when Chuck was finally delivering the package that he held onto for all those years, the sign on the arch had changed ...... It read simply "Bettina" (The "Dick" had been removed through divorce ..... Pun intended). She evidently had divorced Dick, and got the ranch in the divorce settlement. So, when Chuck came calling, she was available. I liked the way the movie ended. It leaves me to wonder ..... Did he follow her to her place and start his life all over, or did he take one of the other roads, off into the unknown, but just as hopeful?
Kelly also was already having an affair w the dentist.
@@eval7952 no, she wasn't.
@@jimstanley_49 the math is all there in the movie.
Symbolism, why u think Tom had the toothache.
When Tom had to extract his own tooth and he had the photo of Kelly, in the real world something significant was happening w Kelly and her husband, either got married or had the kid.
Yeah, it didn't make the reaction cut, but when they're doing the package pov, you see Bettina's package getting delivered in Russia to a guy in a robe and a cowboy hat who tells the woman he's with that the package was from his wife, right before he kisses her. Either Bettina found out or Dick decided to stay in Russia.
@@eval7952 Wow. Can't argue with logic like that. It's not even wrong.
Team Hannah. You can't give someone a coffee and expect them to drink it the way that you would drink it or the way you want them to drink it. Maybe she wants that coffee to last because it's from you, and it's special to her. She doesn't want to down it all in five minutes, she wants it to last a while.
Fun fact: When asked at a press conference what was in that FedEx box with the wings, the director said it was a waterproof, solar powered satellite phone. This is documented on the 2-disc dvd boxset.
He most likely being humorous.
It was a strap on from Lovehoney gifted from her lesbian lover
It was actually a microfilm revealing 50 years of state secrets (including who actually killed JFK), found in the hollowed out leg of a church pew in Fort Walton, KS.
That was a joke. Extremely unlikely it would have worked well enough back then to get a signal out, anyway.
I remember seeing opening of that box with a satellite phone sometimes during credits or after credits, but now I am not even sure - my memory is playing tricks, or it was some later addition.
The thing about Cast Away that's so disarming is; it's basically a ghost story (or if you want to get really deep the story of Lazarus) in many ways he did die on the island (aside from literally being presumed dead) and making it back he has to exist through the grief of his old life and be present to witness and mourn how everything and everyone has moved on; survival and rebirth at the cost of everything you were
When wilson floated away and he tried to retrieve him he was totally immersed which I took as a baptism. At that point, he realized that he had to let him go.
I would not equate this with Lazarus, if you want to use a Biblical reference. More like the story of Noah, the great flood, the survival in his own world (the ark) and the re-emergence into a changed world.
Hannah is completely right. As long as she appreciated your efforts. Gave you thanks for your kindness to going to get breakfast. What you bought for her does not go to waste.... Then it is absolutely none of his business how she eats it or drinks or how long it takes her to. You are two different people and you do things your own way.
Ash forgot that once you give a gift it’s theirs to do with what & how they want. I often forget this myself ❤
Good spot to Hannah for realizing the whale was waking him up, dolphins and sometimes whales have been documented to have saved humans lost at sea, one humpback whale saved a woman from a shark. Also, the woman at the beginning/ end did have a husband, the package she sends at the start is shown delivered to him and he tells the woman he's with it's from his wife, suggesting he was cheating on her. It would be safe to assume they aren't together anymore.
It would be safe to say they aren't together anymore because she had removed his name from the metal arch over the driveway at the end. LOL
This movie always makes me cry. This man was obsessed with time and getting shit done. That island meant time away from the things he actually cared about and even from his normal way of living.
Tom Hanks cut his knee while working on this movie and got a Staph infection. He got rushed to the hospital to have emergency surgery and stayed there for 3 days. Then he spent around 3 weeks healing before he went back to set. This movie makes him feel so isolated, but there were upwards of 150 people on set during the shoot. The scene where it shows the rope hanging and you realize he contemplated offing himself is heartbreaking. The fact that Ash says that this makes you grateful anything you have knowing the food on the table scene is coming when he is at the airport later. He worked so hard for his food, but here it is just laid out easily accessible.
I have been on some movie sets and I see no reason why there needed to be that many people on the crew on-site. 20 people would have been plenty for most of those scenes.
One of my favorite things about this movie (as a musician) is that you don't hear any music from before the time he crashed until the moment he leaves the island... the music is the ocean and the rain.
No dramatic suspenseful music while they're crashing, no sad or funny music during almost half of the movie, and I think that's a brilliant touch.
With Hannah here brother, nobody gets to decide how anybody else enjoys their food/drink… if you don’t want to buy coffee for such a queen then don’t, but if you do she gets to enjoy how she prefers
If something ever happened to Hannah and you see an abandoned cuppa coffee, you're gonna burst into tears. Don't worry about things going your way and appreciate what makes each other the loves of your lives
The package represents hope.
Wilson represents his humanity.
When he left the island, where he was safe, he knew he could die out at sea if not picked up in time.
He knew he could die but he no longer had any fear of death.
I love Tom hanks so much he has so much talent and range as a actor it’s so beautiful he always makes you feel his emotions I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You guys have really been killing it lately thanks for the extra effort.
The words that chuck says at the end. "You just gotta keep breathing. Because tomorrow the sun will rise, who knows what the tide will bring" it always makes me emotional. Because no matter how bad, or hopeless a situation could appear to be. It can always get better, with hope, and a little bit of faith.
I disagree. But I’m happy for you.
@@tahirahshabazz50 give it time, you never know what the tide will bring.
Likewise, it just as well can always get worse.
The writer creating Wilson was brilliant and it was a healthy approach to not losing his mind.
Whenever I read "Tom Hanks" as part of the main cast, I know it will be a great movie. It's a guarantee and it will be worth watching it. But also I have realized that most of Tom's memorable movies are about dealing with adversity. Including "The money pit" and "The terminal" which are actually comedies. This actor is a real legend of the entire movie industry.
The Road To Perdition
On the introductory argument, I vote for Hannah, she should enjoy her coffee as she like, offering her this coffee, which is very nice, doesn't entitled you to decide how she should enjoy it!
100% on Hannah’s side on this one Ash. Any favor or kind act shouldn’t have any contingencies or expectations on them. I’ve experienced this firsthand and what ends up happening is you will start saying “No thanks” whenever anything is offered because it actually builds anxiety around the matter. Then the person offering will start feeling uncomfortable and maybe even unsure why this thing has changed and before you know it, tiny resentments are building up in both of you and at that point you may not even be sure why. While I can empathize with Ash’s POV here, because I’ve also experienced for example, cooking a great meal for someone who turns out to not be hungry etc. which can be a bummer, it shouldn’t have any strings attached or expectations beyond them just being appreciative. Love you both though lol. 💜
I am on team Hannah. She wasn't ungrateful and she dd drink it - sometimes you cant drink a coffee very fast, and sometimes its good to just have it there for the exact moment you are ready to drink it, no matter if you have to reheat it.
Gotta agree. You can't give a gift and be mad they don't use the gift how you wanted them to.
If the coffee was consumed, who caaaares. He wanted her to sit down and drink it while gushing compliments about how good it was lol.
Seconded
My grandma reheats her coffee like 7 times in a day lol, she's extremely with it. But even then, I have to ask the critical question: why give a crap about whether someone else reheats their coffee or not lol, it's such a nothing-burger. Especially if it's only once or twice, *and* she actually drinks it still.
Ash totally loses this lol, in all rights. Sorry mate!
Thirded
As a graveyard shift worker in the medical field, I vote team Hannah. Team Reheat lol!
🤣 Hannah is fine if she needs to reheat it again, she needs to. She isn't wasting it!! 😂 she just drinks it a different way to you, Ash
That line “You’re the love of my life”, that broke me the first time.
Well done with the time symbolisms, Ash. I never put that together before. He never had time and now he has all the time in the world and he put the time over her. Great lessons here.
Wifey's right.. As long as she drinks ths coffee, it doesn't matter how many times she reheats it or how long it takes her to drink it
Wilson was the best character of all time. Someone always wails out "Wilson!" on the volleyball courts.
the coffee argue moments were hilarious! :D I hate microwaved coffee, but to think, Hannah would still do it to drink the coffee Ash brought, does deserve appreciation. Other people would probably throw it away.
You guys've seen Terminal? Another great and heartwarming Tom Hanks movie!
Been working through all your vids and when I looked ahead and saw that you'd reacted to this, I had to find it.
I've heard of it but never seen it, so watched with my girl this past weekend and we were emotional over it too.
Your reactions mirrored ours, so thanks for sharing...! 👍🏻👍🏻
Also, this one is directed at Hannah.
Killer Whales have never fatally attacked a person in the wild. There was a case once where a man got mistaken for a seal but the orca spat him out immediately and he was barely injured.
Animals don't like us. We must taste like ish, with our bologna and chicken nugget diets. Sharks bite into us but then they're like ewww wtf was that??? Gross!
@@solongdentahlplaan7975 also because we don't have enough fat content on us to justify the effort.
We aren't actively eaten by other animals because most animals don't have a taste for us, we aren't part of their food chain, and the exceptions when they do attack are either territorial (hippos, elephants, etc etc), misunderstood as other prey (this orca case) or pure exception (like polar bears who do hunt humans to eat, but they also hunt anything), and then there are some animals who do acquire taste for human meat like tigers (Champawat tiger is a Bengal tiger who's estimated to have killed 436 people on Nepal).
@drake9634 she didn't acquire a taste for people. Her jawbone was fucked from being shot and she literally couldn't hunt anything else.
We just don't HEAR from the people who get eaten by orca in the wild. I'm sure there's hundreds, thousands... millions every year who never get to tell their tale.
I'm with Hannah about the coffee argument 😂. I do the same thing with my coffee. Different people enjoy things differently.
This movie has so much symbolisms I knew you’d like it. I hated the ending when I first saw this as a kid but now I love it.
Great reaction, thanks guys! This has probably been mentioned in the comments below but there is a joke about "what was in that unopened package?" And, the punch line is....a satellite phone with extra batteries. :)
Gifts shouldn’t come with conditions 😂 if you give someone something, let them enjoy it the way they want to enjoy it. You did your part and was nice and thoughtful. All is good. 😊
Didn't even know Hannah had her own channel. Haven't seen anything on it yet but immediately subscribed.
Honestly, when I was about 20, I got a copy of the SAS survival handbook. It's the manual given to British soldiers to know how to survive in various climates.
It was always kept in my bag whenever I left town, whenever I went camping.
Those skills are absolutely critical. Life may be easy and full of convenience but if anything crazy EVER happens, you'll feel more prepared. For suuuuure.
I'm pretty sure I have that book. Is it like the length of a book but with half-sized pages?
@@wheelmanstan I think it comes in various sizes, there's even a pocketsized one. 😊 If 'SAS Survival Handbook' rang a bell, then you likely are remembering correctly.
@@eyden1562 I need to look back over mine, there's a couple knots I've forgotten. Another book that's a fun read but full of common sense survival knowledge is the Zombie Survival Guide. It's of course fiction but it'll sure help with Urban survival when everything goes to sh!t soon. haha It's full of the common sense stuff that every zombie film and TV leave out, aside from the original Dawn of the Dead, which is fantastic.
@@wheelmanstan Omg that's awesome. Hahahah I have to grab a copy!!! 😂
I have the same handbook and I am American. Similar basic survival skills are in the Boy Scout handbook.
This has one of the greatest endings in film. We all have crossroads we take in life but we might not realize it was one at the time. Chuck knows that his decision here at the crossroads will determine his future.
The same thing is happening while he is on the island and everything "slows down" for him. Watch the scene where is high up ,staring at the tide pattern.
Such an amazing role. Very few actors can pull off a solo performance as well as Tom Hanks can
The woman at the end was actually a country singer named Lai White, RIP. Very beautiful and talented woman. Check out a song called "that's my baby". Once you see her you'll know why they had her in the film. Well I mean she's really angelic.
The coffee reaction by itself was worth a watch 😂
That whole raw crab scene... I haven't had a laugh like that in years. You guys are hilarious.
I literally look forward to these videos every week. ❤
You legend ❤️
When I first saw this film and wondered about those wings, I remembered this line of poetry: "Hope' is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul" -Emily Dickinson
Oh two more things. My wife got me a coffee warmer and I keep it set to about 165°F so I don’t have to re-microwave my coffee. Secondly, my grandma died at age 76 and my grandpa was 80. He grieved himself to death, Hannah, you nailed it grief is horrible.
Great idea!
I love when Ash smiles and makes a joke and poor Hannah is over there gagging. You two are hilarious. 😂❤
Love the react and Ash… 1) once you raise your voice in an argument, you’ve lost and 2) If Hannah doesn’t value fresh coffee as much as you, that is her choice. If it was important to her she would behave differently. Suggestions from a guy why had to learn the same lessons: ask a question to understand why she lets it go and pick what hills you want to take a stand on…I hazard a guess that reheated coffee was not worth the drama the argument created? 😊.
Tom Hanks has such an amazing body of work. His career started out in comedy roles (Bachelor Party, Big, the Burbs) but he has also appeared in many rom-coms with Meg Ryan like Joe Vs. the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, and You've Got Mail. He even played a gangster in The Road to Perdition. Most recently he played the role of Fred Rogers in the story about the life of Fred Rogers and "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood", the children's program he created on public broadcasting that spanned more than 3 decades.
You know you've made a great movie when people cry over a freaking volleyball.
My idea of an unexpected twist. Tom Hanks crashes and washes up on this island. Somehow he figures out where he is. Hes on Nikumororo Island. The sun goes down, the coconut crabs emerge, he goes the way of Amelia Earhart, roll credits.
Hannah calling out Ash’s sea pollution argument has me rolling lmao
The look you give your fella when he says inappropriate stuff…TV gold. The gagging part of this video was extremely funny. Keep up the good work…
I loved the coffee argument, I was laughing so hard. I have personal experience with people who reheat their a bunch, and honestly I think Hannah takes this one:
My grandma reheats her coffee like 7 times in a day lol, she's extreme with it compared to Hannah. But even then, I have to ask the critical question: why give a crap about whether someone else reheats their coffee or not lol, it's such a nothing-burger.
Especially if it's only once or twice, *and* she actually drinks the coffee still, despite the reheating.
Ash totally loses this lol, in all rights. Sorry mate!
Edit: fixed typos
It is one of those movies that when it is on tv I have to watch it.
Your symbolisms were on point today!
It's HER coffee, she can drink it how and when she wants. You don't give a gift with conditions on it. Once you give it to her, it's hers. Love you Ash, but Hannah gets my vote.
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie before, because I'm never going to laugh this much. You two are like the British Stiller and Meara. Great comic energy.
Cheers you legend ❤️
You guys are hilarious. "You making me sound like Amber Heard" nearly killed me.
Both perspectives are valid, just continue to communicate and verify how you both receive love and work at giving that to each other, not expecting perfection but showing that you’re willing to try for one another.
Fun Fact: This movie has a beautiful soundtrack by Alan Silvestri but there is actually no music at all for more than an hour and the first time music plays is when Chuck escapes the island and looks back. Symbolisms...
Team Hannah here. One can't be upset how a gift is used. Ash, would you prefer she waste your gift and throw it out, or, enjoy it? She doesn't appear to mind taking her time enjoying it, so, be thankful for that.
Wilson! That scene is so iconic lol and every time I see Fed ex I get flashbacks of this movie gotta say great marketing technique ha ha n great acting from Tom how are you alone the whole film and still keep people entertained .
Well done on making the channel full time! I wish you every success. Thank you for the entertaining content Ash and Han!
I love how Ash doubles, triples and quadruples down on his point despite the fact that he's clearly on the wrong side of this argument. It's a coffee, son. If she wants to pour it into cereal and eat it you let her. If she wants to mix it with bourbon you let her. If she wants to snort it through a straw you let her. You can't win. We all still love you. 😉 Cheers.
"Run Forest run!!!" and "WIlsonnnn!!!!!!!!" We heard those so much in schools. That prove the success of a movies
This film 100/10🎉🎉 can’t wait for your reaction ❤
I was an extra in the welcome home scene. It was filmed at the FedEx hangar on May 7, 2000. There was 1000 of us FedEx employees who were extras in this film. Great fun. I really enjoyed your reaction to this movie. Cheers from Memphis, TN!
Hannah wins the argument. U can't give someone something and then pass judgement on how they decide to accept it. Doing so means the gift was more for your ego than it was for them. As long as she didn't trash it, it's all good.
Once he is on the island there is no more music until he looks back and sees he is actually leaving the island. It always makes me get goose bumps and well up a little because the island became his savior and home. A bitter sweet moment. Losing Wilson makes me lose it.
Lol the only reason ash is upset was because he needs affirmation of his kindness, which negates the kindness. He's being nice just so she can acknowledge that he's being nice. It's like giving someone a birthday gift on their birthday and expecting them to give you something back that same day.
It's a bit of insecurity.
Oh? Where did you get your degree? Assuming your "psychology education" goes any deeper than Tumblr posts
@@Nyx_2142 Lol ironically I'm actually in my second year of psych at Cal Poly but honestly it's just common sense. I mean especially considering how at least 29 people agree with me on this. One even attributes it to insecurity. But please, let me know what is your understanding of the argument they had was since you care so much about my opinion. I mean they did ask the audience for their opinion. Or do you not have an answer and don't know what you're talking about and just replied because you have some white knight complex and need to defend someone who has no clue my comment from several months ago is slightly insulting?
@@williamelenoLmao I think it’s funny that person never responded, but also I don’t think your initial comment was really that insulting anyway, people are insecure sometimes and maybe Ash WAS acting insecure. Everyone has insecurities and it’s not something to be super embarrassed about, he tried to do something nice and wanted to feel validation for it, it’s not really that unheard of. Sorry for the super late comment tho I was just catching up on some old videos of theirs I never checked out.
Wow. You began with an argument about a morning treat and reheating the gift coffee. After the movie you are just happy that you have each other. Sealed with a kiss. ❤
I remember hearing Ian McKellen nearly cried on the set of The Hobbit because he was forced to work alone to properly adjust the character size to Dwarves and Hobbits. Forced to act alone. I know this scenario is different, but it really shows Tom Hanks’ great acting talent. Alone, with a volleyball…
Isolation is a killer.
ahhhh that kiss at end, you 2 stay strong and together, bless you xx
You guys were headed in the right direction with why he was emotional after finally escaping the island. It was his prison. While he was there, it was like he was trapped by time. This is a guy who was so meticulous about time and not wasting it. Yet he found himself imprisoned on an island while the rest of the world moved on. That's why he was emotional. It was acknowledgement that he had finally escaped being imprisoned and trapped by time (the island) and his life could now move on one way or another.
Mister "I would get Dracula on those bats!" Bout to start gagging at eating minnows whole 😆😆😆
Regarding symbolic language, I really liked the crossroads he passes at the beginning & end. Crossroads were a place where the veil between the worlds of the living & spirits was thinnest in various cultures. I.e., in Ancient Greek a statue of Hekate, goddess of necromancy, the netherrealms & lost or forgotten souls, was often erected there. Likewise, the "Blessed Isles" were a place of the Greek underworld reserved for heroes & the most virtuous souls after their death. So you could argue, he first crossed over to the land of the dead & managed to return into his old life where everyone just treats him as a sort of unreal ghost. So he has to go back once more to the "intermediate realm" (crossroads), to get "reincarnated" into a new existence that allows him to be the changed person he's become & find happiness again.
The best thing ever is the coffee discussion at the beginning, which is 100% "First World Problems", just before "Castaway" in which the biggest part of the movie is Tom Hanks finally making fire. 🤣
being appreciative of the gift has nothing to do with how the person who received the gift enjoys it. once you give Hannah the coffee its not really any of your business how she consumes it. you wanting her to drink it, the way YOU want her to drink it, is ur own personal control issues. that being said, its just coffee.. so lets let it go huh?? lol great reaction as always guys ill be back for the next
Tom should have got an oscar for THIS movie as well !! Just give him all the awards !! Cheers you two !
Wilson!!
Haven't started yet, but I'm super excited for this one! It's one of my favorite Tom Hanks movies 🔥🔥
Something must be wrong with me because even as a child I thought it was hilarious to imagine the last package with the wings being like some kind of survival kit with a GPS phone + batteries and everything you could ever want. The metalworking woman seems like she would enjoy hiking/survival stuffs.
That's a very common joke, probably made up the same week this movie premiered. It very unlikely any type of phone available at that time would have saved him. Also, the sequence of him making a fire was the thing that was overdone. He could have made a fire much easier just using the bottom of a bottle to focus sunlight like a lens on some dry wood. The method he used would have been really impractical in that climate.
That middle of no where you referred to at the end of the movie is south of Amarillo Texas. Home sweet home! I saw a car drive by my place the other day and thought, “Damn traffic!”
