    I've walked along there and had to take my boots/socks off and roll up my trousers; wading knee deep for a good field's stretch. That tide can get up high! That well has lovely water by the way, I was there on a baking hot day and it was like it had come out of the fridge!

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  2 года назад +2

      As you saw it was very wet when I walked this section and so I was not in need of any water from the well. I can imagine on a hot day it is a welcome find.

    That knife was obviously dropped by someone, found by someone else who stuck it in the gate hoping the owner walks that path again. That's what we do round here. Great vid mate.

      Hi Neil, thanks for watching and the comment. I try my best to give an honest reflection of what the path is like. I would encourage anyone considering the path to go for it. However you chose to do it it will be incredible. I haven’t included links for sites but I do give the names of where I stay and I try to give a basic review of my impression of the place. If you need any further info on any of the places I’ve stayed just give me a shout.

    Hey Paul great vids! btw what was your pack weight? and with hindsight what do you wish you should have taken/not taken?

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  2 года назад +1

      Hi Phil, thanks for that. I can’t quite remember on pack weight back then. I now have a base weight (without water, camera equipment and drone) of about 11kg. I have today got back from the next part of my coast path walk and my pack weighed 15kg with all the extras mentioned above. I saved a lot of weight by upgrading my tent. I bought a better mattress. I take less clothes now and try to wash them in a sink and hope they dry. I don’t carry food apart from a couple emergency packs of super noodles. Just try and be ruthless about what you take, but don’t make yourself uncomfortable in the process.

    • @plemas1
      @plemas1 2 года назад +1

      @@pilgrimpaul7798 yeah cos your bag looked pretty big/heavy.. you done bloody well hauling that about mate!! I really liked your tent actually, I’ve got front access on mine so you dont get the excellent views that your side access tent has.. Ive been ruthless as hell and I’m down to about 8kilo but might have to up a bit to hit the necessary comfort levels lol
      Did you ever run out of those 4oz gas canisters on the trail? I heard that they can be difficult to come by?

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  2 года назад +1

      @@plemas1 that’s a great weight. Wish I could get down that low. Yes I did run out of gas and at the time they were hard to come by. I ended up having to buy a larger one in Combe Martin but at least that gave me peace of mind that I could have a brew.

    • @plemas1
      @plemas1 2 года назад

      @@pilgrimpaul7798 yeah I was gonna go down the canister route but found out that they're difficult to come by so went for a firebox nano which you can use wood and a trangia plus ive cut out the little dish out of a fire dragon so I can use solid fuel too, basically I'm way too paranoid about running out of fuel lol I should have thought about the liklihood of being able to get hold of 8oz canisters instead.. Oh well :)
      As I'm completely new to this malarkey I started with a blank slate and went for more or less the lightest stuff. . Could have gone lighter here and there but would have compromised comfort, which as we know is a big no no, especially as its not even a week trek but 7 weeks! Lol

      Hey thanks. No I didn’t wild camp. I would be tempted to on my next section though. The trouble with most of the camp sites is they seem to be a couple miles in land and normally up a hill.
