- My 3rd day on the trail takes me from a sodden Lymouth to a sunny Watermouth. This was so far the hardest day in my opinion incorporating the climb out of Heddon's Mouth and the highest point on the SWCP Great Hangman.
I am really enjoying this series Paul
Top job mate
That looked like a awesome stretch of coastline 👌
Alright Dean. Thanks for watching. Yes it was a great walk once the rain cleared. Thankfully the rest of the week was dry.
Such a lovely section of the path
Even in the wet weather I had I still loved this area.
incredibly helpful - Im planning a 2023 go at the whole path. in one go. thank you,
Ah great, glad you found it useful. Any questions give me a shout.
I remember it well...I set off from there in the dark, a long days walk. I was a lot luckier with the weather though!
What a start to the day, it was so wet. I think it dried out by the end of the day. Beautiful but long walk. Thanks for watching.
Another great video!! Shame the cloud was in when you got to the top of hangman. We were lucky it was tipping it down in Lynton but sun came out before we reached heddon. Made for a hot climb out though. Looking forward to the next video 😊.
Thank you for the kind comment. Yes it was a shame but it also made me feel like I had climbed a mountain and was up in the cloud. It was sunny on the climb up and then the last 100m or so was shrouded in mist.
plenty of ups & downs today Paul looked great despite the weather, Ive been to the Watermouth castle place a couple of times its a really interesting place. another good day 👍 atb daz
Yes Daz there certainly were. The weather was pretty kind after the first hour or so. The bus driver in Lynmouth saved me from the worst of it. Cheers
I'll be doing this on Sunday! 😀 got my bug spray
Those flies were everywhere. Hope you enjoy your walk.
Great Videos Paul really enjoyed and looking forward to the next instalment. I would be interested in knowing what camp sites you stayed at as I am hoping to start the walk now we can get out again. Take Care. Kev.
Hi Kev. Thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it. I stayed at Sparkhayes campsite in Porlock, Sunny Lynn @ Lynton, Little Meadow just out of Combe Martin, I had a B&B in Wollacombe and Chivenor and my last night I camped at Treyhill Camping just past Instow. Prices ranged from £5 - £25. If booking in advance, mention you are walking the SWCP and some places give cheaper hiker rates. All 7 days of my walk are now on my channel if you haven’t seen them. If you have any other questions give me a shout. Cheers
How did you find the Smidge? Did it work? I got molested by midges on my last camp, and it turns out I have some form of allergy to the bites. Have got myself a midge net, but would be keen on some kind of repellent. Another great installment, really enjoying the series :)
Cheers Ryan. I bought the Smidge to try and protect myself from ticks mostly as I had 4 on me after my previous camp on Dartmoor. I would say the smidge helped, I didn’t have any ticks and those flies did disperse (for a while). I have also used a product called Skin So Soft in the past which is another mosquito repellant.
Hi Paul Stewart Paul doing the SWP at woolacombe but heading towards Braunton and Chivenor storm coming in very soon Paul would you have details or telephone number off air BB you had about year ago it would help me big time if I could get in there tomorrow with this storm coming if possible many thanks Stewart ⛺️🏃♂️🌧
Hi Stewart. Hope you’ve enjoyed it so far. The accommodation I had was booked through the AirBnB website so I don’t have a telephone number. It was in Chivenor and the accommodation was called The Farthings. Owned by a lady called Sue. Try searching on the AirBnB website. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
