    Are there any Botox restrictions for someone who had radiation treatment to the head and neck? It seems like a facelift is out and dental work is very involved. Supposedly, radiation patients are unpredictable as far as healing. I understand that for invasive procedures but Botox sounds like a much safer option. The radiation treatment aged me horribly and the skin looks like a bad tan... It's not the end of the world, I'm blessed to be alive. This is my 3rd go-round with head and neck cancer. Thanks be to GOD I have a wonderful family and that's the important priority... I loved the video. It was educational as far as the anatomy and the disorders such as strabismus. It's very informative.

    • @DrRupaWong

      Botox certainly doesn't carry the risks of fillers (which can be much more vasocclusive and I would worry about decreased blood supply). I would ask your oncologist for the go ahead first. I'm so glad you're doing well after your cancerl, but I definitely understand your concerns. And, you don't need to qualify them - you deserve to feel beautiful and whatever you need to achieve that is alright.

    • @sunkissedbeach
      @sunkissedbeach 3 года назад +2

      Doesn’t look like she’s going to answer your question.
      I think the best injectors are the dermatologists and injectors who work for a plastic surgeon, they actually normally inject better than the surgeon does because they do it all day and they know the latest techniques. Everything is over seen by the plastic surgeon.
      I would stay away from these “med spas “ as normally these mall stores hire injectors that don’t have a lot of training. I went for years to get Botox/ Dysport and was told that they could not even do crows feet. Obviously you can, but because I believed them I never even researched it. Now that I do my own toxin I know what can be done and what cannot be done. I don’t know why these injectors don’t find out everything that they can possibly can to become a subject matter expert, that’s their job right?

      Definitely don't go based on price! Honestly, I would go based on word of mouth referrals and not ads or groupons or any of that. If you have friends who have botox and you like the way they look, go to that person. Find out who does the injecting, what their level of experience is, how many injections have they done. Sometimes the main derm/plastic surgeon/ophtho whose name is on the clinic is not the one doing the injecting. Make sure you know who is injecting your face and their experience level!

      I'm actually going to be addressing a similar question on this week's Friday Q&A. But in general, in the hands of an experienced injector, it should not. But strabismus is a potential complication of Botox (the Botox infiltrates into the lateral recuts muscle typically, causing eye crossing)

    Hi! I know this video is a year old but hoping for some advice please? I had botox in forehead, 11’s and crowsfeet areas 13 days ago. 5 days ago I suddenly developed double vision. The Ophthalmologist I have seen has diagnosed 4th Nerve Palsy that she thinks may be due to the botox. Hopefully this will wear off in time, but perhaps stupidly I’m not sure I’m prepared to give up botox in the future all together as it makes me feel so much better about myself (usually!). Can you tell me please which area is the most likely cause of effecting the fourth cranial nerve, I’m unsure of it’s location around these areas… I can live with crows feet, but my frownlines are usually terrible.. I’d just like to know which areas to avoid to prevent this happening again? I should add that I’ve had botox many many times over the years (including previously with this doctor) with no complications. Thank you!

      Yes it can if the Botox went places it shouldn’t be. You can have the worlds most skilled neurologist to inject you, but you can be slightly different anatomically than most or Botox can penetrate to a deeper muscular layer or nearby muscle causing unwanted effects.
      I receive Botox every third month, 300 units which is a LOT, and I got a droopy eyelid twice. One time I used my Tripollar too lift it, and it was very successful. The other time I used Nuface to dissolve the Botox. Whatever people say or not, I have had Botox four times a year for decades, and I swear that NuFace dissolves the Botox in no time.

    Thank you for your video, very informative.
    I have had dysport to my crows feet and a little under my eye also. However I noticed one of my eyes squints smaller than the other when I smile, creating asymmetry. It also has a slight ‘bunny line’ on my nose…. I’m not liking the results, it’s been nearly a month, I hope this wears off sooner than the 3 month, hoping it will soften soon. What has caused this in your opinion? I’m very reluctant to do this again. The creases under my eyes do look better but I don’t like how my right eye looks. Thank you for your help.

    I think it’s just safe to do less units to be safe and then get them in for a 2 week review and top up as I rather do less dosage then over doing it

    hello, I had botox injected in my forehead and around my eyes and since then I have had problems with double vision, dry eyes and a squint eye. It's been several months and it's not really getting better. also I have a weird sensation in my eye that squints, it worries me a lot, I went to see an ophthalmologist, he saw nothing abnormal but I don't feel like before the injections. what to do ? Thank you

    Can you get botox under the eyes to eliminate the creases that appear when smiling?

    • @DrRupaWong
      @DrRupaWong  2 года назад +2

      Yes! One of my favorite places to inject and be injected. Only takes a very small amount - a maximum of 4 units of Botox (more if you're using Dysport)

    Hi Dr. I had bells palsy 4 years ago and till this day my face when i smile is still affected. Do you recommend botox for this or should i just give up looking and accept it all together?

  • @diadiaa892
    @diadiaa892 3 года назад +4

    Idk if you’ll answer this question, but i always generally wondered if botox has any negative effects with longterm use. Like making you age faster within the specific area, or damaging or irritating the injected area….idk.

    • @DrRupaWong
      @DrRupaWong  3 года назад +3

      No studies have shown accelerated aging due to Botox, but some have shown muscle atrophy (which is kind of what most cosmetic patients want!)

    Hi,
    Watched the vid, thanks for the recommendation but I was more looking for the use of Botox for strabismus rather than going the surgery route. Would like info on the pros & cons especially with Botox wearing off after a few months is it worth going the Botox route vs muscle surgery? I don’t want my 14 month old having to go through getting injections every year if needed. I know the surgery is not 100% successful but is it a better way to go other than having more of a downtime after surgery. My 14 month old will have to go under anesthesia either way. Thanks in advance.

    Do people with BFS get Botox around the eyes/eyebrows from you and do they help with eye/eyebrow twitching? Lower lid, upper lid, area between upper lid and eyebrow and the actual eyebrow area twitching. If so, where you located I’m coming to see you 😎

    Wait, you said ophthalmology is basically eye surgery??? I thought an ophthalmologist was a medical Doctor who specializes in diseases of the eye. I know ophthalmologists are the ones that do I surgery on the eye itself but it’s not that it just means surgery, correct?

    • @DrRupaWong
      @DrRupaWong  3 года назад

      I do 4 units Botox for the 5 point injection if needed (that's the FDA approved dosing), but depending upon the muscle activity, I find most women don't need a full 20 units there, but men will require more.

    A bag under it. Is that because the
