Actually rafi sahb was technically correct and classical ahead but kishora da was much fluent and versatile so both are great and we all are blessed to hear the voices of the two as we may call two were mountain peaks
For playback singing Kishore Kumar is probably better although i agree Rafi was melodious. Even Lata Ji and Asha Ji said the same thing. Kishore was an actor himself and his expressions were always spot on. Kishore upstaged Rafi on many songs they sang together. Tum bin jahoon Kahan is a good example. Rafi's version was great and melodious but Kishore's presentation starting with the humming stole the show.

Lata ji and Asha ji case is different because Lata ji was always at the top. Rafi Sahab ruled the air waves in 50s-60s, but then Kishore da became the top billing in the 70s-80s. That's why there is bad blood between the fans of both. My only motive was to bring the music fans together. Like I said in my video, "You may prefer one over the other," but as a music fan, we should be able to appreciate both (and other greats) without biases and silly comparisons.

Good analysis sir! But I would like to say, class of MD. Rafi and Kisore Kumar is not alike. Kisore Kumar was versatile, holder of baritone voice, he was an actor, musician, singer, producer, director, script writer.... He was a total artist in India. On the other-hand, MD. Rafi was an unparalleled classical singer in India. His voice was silky, sweet and also romantic! He could sing based on all RAGA-RAGINI. He sang very very tough songs very easily which had not been possible without himself. Beauty of his voice was, that had not broken when raising in the top and sublime position! (Baiju Bawra, Mahua, Neelkamal, Dosti, Pakeeza, Kagaj ki ful etc.). These eqniques will remain till Indian Music world sustains! I think Rafi and Manna Dey were the same style singers in our country. Kishore Kumar can't sing classical song as good as Rafi. Rafi Can't Sing Intehaan Ho Gayi,Roop Tera Mastana,thodi si jo pee li hai,pyar hume kis mod pe le aaya as good as Kishore Da.

For example, Sonu Nigam is the best singer today, but his voice wouldn't suit "Saada Haq," just like Mika's voice wouldn't suit "Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin." And historically, if a song has been sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi, and Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar's version has often been the bigger hit.
