UFO are so underrated. They deserve more credit for their major contribution to Heavy Metal. My appreciation to them!
Seriously. Michael had some seriously heavy riffs, and his vibrato has inspired ton of guitarists, whether they know it or not.
No there not.👎😝
Brittania: Great comment .. well said
At least IRON MAIDEN pays tribute to them ,by playing Doctor Doctor, before the shows start
I don't think they're underrated. When I saw them in the 70's you couldn't even get tickets to their shows!
The five albums Michael Schenker made with UFO back in the 70s are maybe some of the best albums ever made!!! If you haven't listened to them yet, do now. Even if you don't listen to Hard Rock, you really must hear them.
Agreed they are foundational albums!
Hey there, have you heard saving my soul????
The more I really listen to Michael Schenker, the more impressed I am and the more I’m inclined to move him up my list of greatest guitarists in rock history (which is obviously highly subjective). He just seems to always sliver the jamming while remaining musical - like virtually on every song.
Michael was like 16 or 17 when he wrote Doctor Doctor, talk about a genius prodigy!!
Wow! Amazing a 16 year old can write a great classic rock song like Doctor Doctor.
18 he was in 1973
Michael Schenker's is a God, he can play anything from his flying V and it would always sound flawless... One of the most legendary and influential guitarists of all times. Iconic in every way possible.
Music is entertaining for sure. God is God . Completely different to a creature created by a creator 😊
UFO are one of the best bands ever. Should have been in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame years ago! So under-rated!
Strangers in the night was an incredible live rock album. The performance and sound mixing was fantastic and to this still sounds great. Michael's playing is legendary. It always has been. 🎸
My favorite group and song. I have this on an 8 track ,yes it still plays !!!.I was 17 then back in 1975.WOW WHAT TIMES WE HAD.
Michael Schenker is such a under rated Guitarist he deserves much much more credit
He has always been at the top. He has never been underrated.
Yes and no sir lol I think that any 40 past something years old who's been growing up and loving hard rock music do know that the mighty EVH and M Schenker were and still are the top of the top, period.
@@QuinctiliusVarus Most people outside of Europe would never heard of him
@@jecos1966 I would respectfully suggest that what you actually mean is that very few people in America know him. Rest of the world e.g all of Europe, Japan, China , Russia, Asia, Oceania? Pretty well known.
@@rubytuesday1345 Asia No Oceania No China No
Great band, great song. Maiden play their fair share by having added it to each show as the intro tape. Doctor doctor has now become the quintessential Maiden concert opener and a larger audience got to know this great song.
Had Schenker stayed with UFO after the live album came out, and then went back to record a new studio album, UFO probably would've made it fairly big in the States. They were on the verge when "Strangers" came out, but of course, Michael had quit by the time that came out. What could've been.
JokersWild45 100% agree, nether reach the heights they should of.
In an interview he says that’s the reason he quit he did not want to become big.
MSG was pretty good.
They did fine without him. Love the Chapman era. They even got on TOTP after he left with Young Blood and Lonely Heart. The reason why UFO didn't hit the big time was lousy management and an indifferent record company. I don't think any of them wanted the big time but they sold 20M records which is very respectable.
Michaels biggest fear was becoming a jukebox and he purposely stopped that process by quitting.
Some of the best heavy rock songs are shuffles - Doctor Doctor, Black Night, Chinatown...
Great observation.I’ve written any about of stuff for myself but I’ve never realised and never written one until you pointed it out.Yeah now I think about it I can think of quite a few great tunes that are driven by that
Hes happy to be underrated. He dont want to be part of the bunch of shittt out there amd ordinary. He is an special guitarist
THIS is how a TRUE ARTIST creates a song. It is just inside you - it is already there, in you, for you and for others - and it wants to come out if the time is ripe.
The best band Schenker ever was in
If he had stayed with UFO through the decades and kept it together with Phil they would have been up there with the biggest bands in the world, like Def Leppard, instead of the fractured undeserving history they ended up with. Still, I guess thats easy to say in hindsight. Thanks, all the same, for the great music and memories Michael.
True that, I feel the same way about Thin Lizzy
Comparing Deaf Leopard to UFO is like comparing hamburger meat to a ribeye steak. In other words WAY past ridiculous.......
@@jaysantos536 exactly UFO is much better
UFO one of the Best Band's on the Planet......
Been listinin to this guy for years, fuckin awsome
Michael Schenker !!!
was a GI living in Germany in late 70's ... Schenker was a God !!!!!!
Dougie is a brilliant singer, hugely respected in the business and a lovely bloke who has achieved a huge amount more than with some of the greatest names in rock
James Harris you can't be serious.
James H.
Kkk
James Harris Dougie is a mediocre singer at most
Jim Harris Sux big time imo
He has a very unique croon, I admit it’s an aquired taste
I got the “Axe Attack” compilation album Christmas 1980 with Doctor Doctor on it (plus lots of other iconic tracks by other bands) loved UFO ever since…they are the dictionary definition of underrated
Dudes a genius , UFO is so godam underrated for whatever dumb reason…THEY ROCKED
Doctor, Doctor was/STILL is all these year's later my #1 UFO SONG & I know it's not the popular consensus, but I had all the early ones, and saw them in 76 (I think 🤔) memory gets hazy all these yrs later, but AC/DC opened for them & they blew AC/DC off the stage !! Seems like it was the Powerage or Live Wire tour w/Bon Scott, so tells you the time frame 🎤🎸🎤🎸🎤
Here in the Midlands, UK, I was clean out of my mind headbanging to the phenomenon studio version in the mid 70's, it hit me like a F....n brick it did!!!!
Lol, still does actually
The first Man, the first Guitar hero that i Saw. It was in 83 at Paris. I was sixteen. I didn't be believe my eyes. Incredible man .. Attack of the mad Axeman.
My favorite UFO song
Right from the start............ What a guitar player!!!
greatest hard rock band period.........................................
Awesome!! They rock!!
Cant believe he said "Doctor Doctor" dindt become popular until 70 SITN album? WOW I knew that was a hit (along with Rock Bottom) when I first picked up "Phenomenon" in 1974.
How can there be 33 thumbs down?? Must be a typo!! How can there be any thumbs down??
IDIOTS,Probably like rap
With this line- up, MSG might be playing at its best.
I'd like to see Michael bring on Herman Rarebell, Francis Bucholz, Paul Raymond, Wayne Finley & Gary Barden as the line up for the band - that would be almost perfect in my opinion!
I'd take Gary Barben
over Doogie White.
That was the original
voice of MSG.
👍All the way great!! Miss those days ❤
THE MAN!!!!!!!!
that beautiful blue eyes !!!
Great vid, I met them all after they played manchester O2 on this tour.
When Schenker discovers a new effect device, he writes a classic rock song.
Your bedroom guitarist would just buy another effect device.
❤ミヒャエルシェンケル❤最高❤
Michael is without a doubt, a great player, who portrays a lot of feeling in his work. UFO were basically a almost nearly major outfit in the 70s who got lucky, when they found him,as he took them to a place they probably, would never have reached. I knew MS and UFO in the 1970s,before he joined. This is , IMO only of course. Don't shoot the messenger cause of the message. UFO's contribution to what was then, the genre of " HEAVY ROCK" [not metal] is saluted and acknowleged i am sure by all.
No one cares what you say, captain obvious.
Michael Schenker is so cool that he wears to two sunglasses!
Master...michael the best....
Iron Maiden opens their concerts with Doctor Doctor.
Such an awesome song! x')
He and Rudy ... Their voice is so scarily fucking alike!!!
Yeah, but Michael is 1000x better guitarist.
@@BluesLicks101so true. Makes me cringe the way Rudi acts on stage, almost as if to deflect attention away from his shit guitar playing 🤣🤣
He always needed other guitar players ... Uli, Michael, Mathias ... he would never have made it as a single guitar player in a band.
3/5 of the Scorpions! Bucholtz, Rarebell & Michael!
Still listening to UFO, Scorpions Aug.2020
Ment Mr . Schecker back in 1986 in Tucson, Az..... Im sadden to see his condition today., always wanta to be his frontman
Great tune. Did it in a few bands.
I thought he was going to say what the song was about, what inspired it or something like that
The track was released in 1973 but became a hit in 1979/80.
Very cool! What's with the double sunglasses though? The upper ones look like Axl Rose's fron the Paradise City video.
GJ Heheh. Good question. I don't know but maybe one is a prescription.
Friggin Killer Guitar player he doesn't try to be the fastest gun in the west therefore his solos are melodic and enjoyable ......
I wish we could have heard him play that juicy 2205 sitting there.
I always thought how interesting it would have been to hear him playing the Randy Rhoads stuff...if he would have joined Blizzard 🤔
It's like asking Mozart to play Tchaikovsky's music. Why?
Thank you
love him
Dr. Bruce Dickinson? Hello from Helsinki!
Classic! !!!!!!
The best song!!!!!!!
My fave Michael Schenker riff/song? Rock bottom, but not Doctor Doctor!
Every time I see a live performance there's a different vocalist!
Clues in the Bands name
And I played it 12...million times after that...idea...
You had it by far but blown it.
It took years and comfort..
Get over it and make some good music! 🙂
I love ufo
That's the better part of Scorpions on stage there too.
I was wondering , Is that Francis Bucholz, on Bass ? He supposedly ripped off the scorpions for years , Surprised Micheal is playing with him ? If that's him ?
i mean he was their bassist for like 40 years@@renorocker64
Which station???!!!!
hey, there were scorpions on that stage...🤔
Michael played in his brother's
(Rudolph) band the
SCORPIONS before joining
UFO in 1973. Check out the
SCORPIONS first album,
Lonesome Crow.
Where are my glasses dude?..m.s. rocks...
Watch This. Tell a friend.
wow
Is that the Scorpions bass player up their kind of looks like him
Mychal Seymour looks like Herman on the drums also.
Podrían traducirlo al español...sería bueno;)
It pains me to say this, but UFO went down a couple of notches when Schenker left.
Chuck Wagon As did Schenker without Phil
@@hermanhelmich lmao, downhill? The first four MSG albums PLUS the Live at Budokan are all revered as hard rock classics!
Это классические "Скорпионы" со временно пришедшими.Это Шенкер,Раребелл,Бухгольц и примазавшиеся к ним.А что?Ударник, бас и соло из "скорпов".А завывать и Лоза умеет.
If only Phil (God bless him) had not punched him in the gut, the guys would all be household names.
First
What's with the annoying music in the background ? Let's hear Michael talk ADD people . Johnny G
34 Idiots
Great guitarist, but what a complete hot mess as a person. Arrogant, demanding, moody and pompous.
