When I first learned how to etch the old fashion way with a drumel. We used the cream you have in gold, copper, silver, and a few other colors. Place them in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. It's nice to see a few other colors added to the list now. Another fun video. Thank you.
I have a nice etched glass that was hard to see the design and read the lettering. I found this video and colored the etching with rub and buff following your instructions. It made the etching pop. A vast improvement over the plain etching. Thanks for the video.
@@sweete64133 I didn't etch the glass, I ordered it from Amazon. I rubbed and buffed it directly into the etching on the outside of the glass. I looks amazing, the gold leaf makes it look classy.
Thank you Jennifer, I knew you’d have the answer! I etched some glass coasters but need to colour the etching to make it more visible. Now I know how 😀
Thak you for a very informative video, I only came across rub n buff today, got all excited and went to order it, then thought I'd watch a few videos first, yours was by far the clearest. It looks great, but I prefer a really shiny finish! So I'll stick to applying metallic foils, it takes a bit longer but the finish is awesome. If nothing else, you saved my crafting brain from spending money and not getting the result I wanted lol...so thank you for that! 💜
I absolutely LOVE ALL of your videos!!! I’m in the process of building my business for the SOLE purpose of teaching other women,(who are currently living in our local domestic violence/sexual assault shelter), new skills that might help them support themselves and their children! I was soooooo hoping to win the cricut maker 3 bundle a couple weekends ago during your weekend classes so I could donate my cricut explore air 2, to the ladies at the shelter! I’m so excited for the winners of ALL the amazing giveaways and I’m just going to keep saving up for the new cricut! I’ve been collecting different types vinyl, tools and blanks to donate with my machine when I’m able to purchase a new cricut! Your videos ALWAYS inspire me to push my boundaries and I’m so grateful for you!!!!!!❤
Hi Jennifer, I just did my first set Etching glass mugs with chocolates eggs in them for Easter for my family with their names on them. They turned out so great! I was wondering if you can do Etching on a coffee mug (ceramics or does it have to be glass)? Also can we do it on a black glass so the White Etching would stand out more? Love your videos!!!!
I've also heard that you can use the little jars of enamel paint and bake. But I have never tried that method. Would love for you to try this out. I love that you try different methods and give tips and opinions. Thanks for being so willing to share with other crafters!!
Thanks for your video and detailed instructions. My daughter and I love doing etching, but want to kick it up a bit. We'll be trying the Rub & Buff. Thank you!!
Wow that was awesome...thank you Jennifer for your expertise and guidance on coloring etch glass ...rubnbuff thats the stuff And Jennifer i can tell you were made from love...lol Thanks again
I love that you show different options in your videos and have recommendations on what works best. You are so thorough! Any questions I think of, you have it covered. Thank you!
Jennifer -- I'm going to give you a chuckle here -- I've just started with my Circut and luckily have found your videos (also purchased your "book") -- BUT the chuckle is that when I first started watching how to etch glass -- I was wondering how in the world you were going to get the glass in the Circut machine!!!! Hahahahaha!!! (blonde moment!!!)
Thank you for always trying new things and showing us what you do. I'm always amazed by your creativity and skills. Watching your videos is my relaxing time. Thank you so much! I can't wait to try this!
Jennifer, you always make these video instructions clear and at the same time entertaining - go ahead girl, drink that wine!!! I deeply appreciate all of your teachings, and I have added glass etching to my list of projects. Thanks so much for all you provide to this crafting venue.
Hi Jennifer. I have just watched the video on colour etching. I have wondered about this because I have done quite a few glasses with plain etching. My question is - will be items still be dishwasher safe after colouring? Sorry if this has already been asked and answered. Your videos are far superior to others I have watched, thank you for sharing your experiences.
You can do this! This is so amazing thank you for all your crafts!!! My question is with the rubb and buff, how long before it washes off? I am making friendship glass tumblers for my friends and want to know if it's worth color etching it, or just use vinyl? Thank you again for all your help .
I just discovered your channel and as a software trainer, I am very impressed with your tutorials. I apologize if you have answered this before but do you ever use the Cricuit vinyl stencil material for this? I just purchased a Cricuit Joy. Thank you.
How beautiful, thanks for the comprehensive tutorial, truly inspirational. I want to go and try this with all my plain glass vases. I even have a set of rub & buff in my craft supplies.
I was wondering if after etching you could leave the stencil on to help colour get into more precise places of the design. Also wondering about the use of alcohol inks to colour etching, have you tried this? Thank for the very informative video. 1😊
Cool!! Have you tried Sharpies? Wondering how they would work... Also, I'm a little concerned about the oil based paint on the oven where food will go. Or is it such a small amount that there are no safety concerns? Thanks for another great video!
Not all glass is designed for use under extreme heat. Only oven-safe glass containers can be used in the oven, including tempered glass and borosilicate glass products. While many glass products, such as plates and bowls on which you eat, are not recommended for use in the oven this is for a short time to set the inks.
Personally, I don't recommend scraping excess cream back into the jar if it has been on the glass for any length of time. If the cream dries, it hardens and creates little crumbs of hardened cream. Once that's in the jar you have to be sure NOT to get it on your next project because it will affect the cause the cream not to be spread smoothly on the next project. (Learned this the hard way!)
@@nancyschubert3276 It just depends if it's been drying for any length of time. If it's done immediately before it starts to dry, it shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise it starts to get chunky.
The cream is only supposed to be left on for one minute, so if you do that-which is what the manufacturer of the product themselves say instead of following the INCORRECT instructions in this video (leaving it on for any longer than that has NO benefit whatsoever)-there's absolutely no issue with putting it the excess back in the jar.
Jennifer, I’m having a horrible time with the Cricut stencil vinyl. I’ve done this thing three times and hopefully, by leaving the mat in there and cutting it a second time, it will cut clean.
I'm sorry, not everyones machines cut materials the exact same way, you may need to experiment on a test piece adjusting your pressure if the second cut didn't work for you.
Jennifer you make the etching technic look so easy. I have question for you . After you do the technic do you put spray mod podge on the glasses to protect the finish?
Thank you. glad I watched this as etching seems bland with no colour. I got paint pens so will try this out. Also I always use to lay my glasses on is the cardboard sides that come with the maker inside the box it is perfect and stops my glasses from moving

Hi Jennifer , wondering if you could leave the stencil on after washing the etching cream off and then doing the colour to give it a neater edge ?
I think that is a great idea!
Wow! Why didn't I think of that? Definitely a great method!
I use a permanent vinyl scrap to prevent leakage. Once ready I run undr hot water and peel vinyl off. Hope this helps. Happy crafting.
Color starts at 20 minutes.
