Sonny is amazing! He makes it look easy to play complex four-way independence patterns.

There just aren't words. So, so, awesome. Such an amazing voice on the instrument. Every note means something. And that tuning - the drums absolutely sing. Thank you!

Whenever I even see the word "Sonny" by itself on RUclips, I click on it as fast as I can. Same thing, whenever I see any word even resembling the word "Emory" by itself on RUclips, I click on it as fast as I can. Need I say more? Need I say why?

I'll take THIS kind of soloing over that million mile a minute Drum-nastics stuff ANYday. That other stuff is all you seem to see now when someone ' solos '. Going fast is great, playing with such speed to the point where you're looking blurry is also great, but it just seems to be all we get nowadays. There's a time and a place for all expressions on the drums, especially of all facets like speed, independence, chops, groove etc but eventually at the end of the day, unless you can work annny of that into a gig or a session, it's really just noise & flash compared to Sonny's style. There's a reason why guys like him have been in the game thisss long.

You're so right. Really fed up with seeing drummers everywhere playing nothing but triplets and sextuplets. Old school drummers know how to create sentences while others try to talk fast but tell nothing.
