This kit is really speaking to me, tone, clarity, power, speaks at all dynamic ranges, pitch bend possibilities, throughout all of the drums, snare toms and kick. Love it. I think these are the ones!
I love how the contemporary Japanese Fusion drummers retain the old school chops. That is some beautiful single stroke rolls around the kit. The even-ness is heavenly..
My new favorite drums. Yamaha raise it up a whole other level with the Live Custom, which I proudly own, but this Hybrid...Oh my Cheezus! I love Yamaha!
I love the original Oak Custom Drums. I've had the privilege of playing on plenty of those. They project beautifully live and they sound great in the studio. And from what I've seen in this demo these would do everything and then some as the original
do they sound tight and compressed acoustically as they do here? they seem a lot darker than maple and birch too. like mahogany but louder and better attack and dynamics.
@@truescotsman4103 I have a set of first issue oak customs from years and years ago, got them from a family friend. They are incredibly versatile but do super well in low end tunings. You can get a hell of an open sound from them if you want but they are easily able to be compressed sonically. All depends on your heads and tunings I suppose. If my older kit is anything to go on, these modern ones will just sound and play even better.
@@bello__ I've been playing on Oak Customs for a few years and I thought the same, but I've been tuning them to Med-high on EQ2s and finding they're really comfortable up there. Just phenomenal drums. The only reason I am buying PHX instead of these for my dream kit is because there's no sense in getting another oak kit when my Oak Customs are so terrific.
Awesome! Sound dynamics and all- don’t forget the mic setup, I think the audio tech did a great job mic placements in all kit, cymbals etc. Great mix I hear all from bass to sparkly chimes!
I’ve even used a Yamaha Rydeen Kit at a 200 seat show (a few times). Even that blew me away. I love “all” Yamaha drums!! These ones are fantastic as well.

But the quality of Zildjian is in no way inferior to Sabian's. I used to play Ride and Hihat by Paiste 2002 in the 80s and 90s and as Crashes Sabian HHX. Super combination. After my complete set including cymbals was stolen from the rehearsal room in 1998, I switched to Zildjian A-Customs and I am super satisfied.

I’m not sure who at Yamaha thought this up, but the inner sheet of synthetic phenolic polymer that’s line on the inner part of the drums makes these sound so amazing. Plus this drummer has a very good tune ability when it comes to his kits. But Yamaha didn’t want it to be such a big deal when tuning the kit. I’ve heard a 5 piece (same color, just less drums) and they sounded AMAZING! I prefer the clear heads as this gentlemen has but the kit I heard at Jack Rabbits by some local band before this COVID stuff happened blew my mind as I wanted a Mapex Black Panther blaster set... but now I’m definitely expanding my horizons.

I can't even play a single paradiddle, bur have been told I'm the best. Why? I play simple simple simple and it does sound better than these accomplished drum wizards.
I know professional drummers who has Hybrid kits and even 9000's and Phoenix kits in their home... but they tour & gig with STAGE CUSTOMs. So I bought the Stage Custom kit. It sounds so good, I can't really tell the difference (above and beyond the drum heads and tunings). ALL YAMAHA DRUMS are PHOENOMENAL!!!
Have you seen the price tag? Beautiful drums, mic ingredients, trimming, mixing and most all performance. Just bought the bass pedal and the Yamaha stands are THE best with the amazing cymbal tilt. Used Yamaha for years and currently running DW shells, Ludwig snare.

I worked at a guitar center for years. Everyone thought Yamaha had some of the best tone overall, and there hardware was the sturdiest.
Satoshi Bandoh played drums on a lot of the tracks for Mario Kart 8!
