Mrs Browns boys resonates with the Irish more than tbe British it seems. The traits possessed by Mrs Brown and some of the other characters are quite relatable for many Irish people, hence older episodes are still on telly. Albeit the modern christmas specials are complete dirt, the first few series and the movie were good. Too bad they don't know when to leave well enough alone.

Before announcing 'heil honey I'm home' as the number one worst sitcom. Or saying it was cancelled. I would of researched it.
Because It wasn't 1) a sitcom or 2) cancelled. It was a one off parody of a typical sitcom that was part of a Channel 4 comedy showcase. It was only ever done as and intended as a one off, not a series, it was part of a showcase made up of various episodes of different comedy, one off shows. something infact that channel 4 still do today.
The episode hasn't been banned either, like it sometimes gets suggested on videos on RUclips similar to this. It is still on Channel 4s streaming service. It was meant as a parody of sitcoms, and a satirical statement about how bad late 80s and early 1990s sitcoms had gotten, and it was not commissioned as anything other than this.

@@Spud607 the original Mrs brown's boys that he did that were like mini films were amazing, but the sitcom the BBC made are dire. And if they were making a joke about it in the show, they would probably have Chris Rea guest star on the show just so they could make a diarreah joke (as in 'dire rea') that is the calibre of comedy that show deals in.

    • @Spud607

@Parl Kilkington the first episodes are just the mini films in BBC format, hence why their actually decent. Pretty much everything that followed after D'movie (which wasn't bad to be fair) is complete crap.

It wasn't a 'real sitcom' and it wasn't cancelled either. It was intended and made as a one off parody of sitcoms and how bad they had become, and the premise behind it was if a sitcom was made today about the worst person who ever lived, what would it be like? And it was part of one of the varied channel 4 comedy showcase series, it was NOT cancelled, it wasn't banned or any of the other things that they say about it on these types of videos. It's still up on channel 4s streaming service. That's how 'banned' it is. It was made as a piss take pure and simple, as a one off episode.

I've gotta be real, the Hitler one has potential, in certain circumstances. If there was a sketch show that had parodies of different kinds of TV shows, and you sprinkled it in every other episode, it would be a classic bit. As a full TV show, I don't even think people would be bothered about it being offensive, just that the schtick would wear thin quickly.

Number 19- “the stereotyping of British Pakistanis and the mocking of Muslims”- the show was written by British Pakistanis and Muslims….
Number 18- all you’ve commented on was Felicity’s accent… the actual comedy content may have been strong…
Number 17- At least I can agree with you on this one
Number 16- “a throwback to 1970s sitcoms that are only looked back at positively thanks to nostalgia”- many 70s sitcoms frequently finish top in these top 10 lists…

Number 14- Never seen Mad About Alice but looks terrible. However I can’t fairly comment until I’ve seen it.
Number 13- “Culture clash comedy grew tiresome”- really? You could say that about Desmond’s, famously one of the best sitcoms… culture clash is just a genre of comedy… you could make the argument that any genre of comedy would grow tiresome if you watched it enough. “It tried to make a British estate being run by a black woman a strong source of content but that fell flat quickly”- the casual racism in this video is much more unfunny than half these sitcoms.
Number 12- “juvenile curse words”- as if any of the panel shows you rave about on this channels don’t rely on that as a source of humour either?
Number 11- “the show focuses heavily on gross humour and innuendos”- like most sitcoms then? “It feels like a sitcom from 50 years ago”- and what’s wrong with that? Fifty years ago you had Dad’s Army, Steptoe and Son, Porridge, Fawlty Towers etc… the comedy snobbery is unbelievable- a show doesn’t last 10 years if it doesn’t have a loyal fanbase. It’s slapstick.
Number 10- “the show feels like it came out in the early 2000s”- the same decade that brought us Spaced, Black Books, and the IT Crowd? Yet you’re using it as a criticism.
Number 9- “the annoying and very immature characters”- yes because the Inbetweeners characters were the height of sophistication, weren’t they? It’s a show focused on teenagers, of course the characters will be annoying and immature. Ridiculous criticism.
Number 8- Brighton Belles I can agree on, a lazy remake
Number 7- “be prepared for shocking uncomfortable humour”- if it’s shocking and uncomfortable is that not good comedy? “Viewers were outraged the remaining episodes weren’t shown”… isn’t that a sign viewers were interested in it? Comedy is supposed to push boundaries… more importantly, it’s supposed to make people laugh- it’s not supposed to be a moral lecture.
Number 6- “the role was written for Jim Davidson which should give you an idea of its quality”… it was written *for* Jim Davidson, not *by* Jim Davidson… I’m starting to think WatchMojo hasn’t actually watched any of these sitcoms to be able to rank them the worst.
Number 5- the Holden Girls- this one I can agree on- utter tripe.
Number 4- “the show reused old jokes”, aka a running gag… your Holy Grail of sitcoms The Inbetweeners had plenty of them too…
Number 3- never watched it, can’t comment, but “it was made for UK Friends fans but without relatability or comedy”… yes because Friends was so side splittingly funny… who doesn’t know someone as dim as Joey?
Number 2- the biggest issue was presenting it as a sitcom rather than more of a drama with comedic elements.
Number 1- this feels more like a Family Guy sketch than its own sitcom, though I’m strangely intrigued by it- it’s absolutely tasteless though. “Other historical figures that were *said* to be parodied”- did WatchMojo just admit they didn’t watch any of these sitcoms before ranking them on a list?….

The characters are all shallow and keep repeating the same phrases (think Manuel from "Fawlty Towers" or most of the characters from "Allo, Allo"), the teacher is young and clueless, his boss is old, ugly and abusive, the French and Swedish female students are blonde bimbos, their Italian classmate is in love with them both, the Chinese student is obsessed with praising communism etc etc.

My God, absolute horse manure of the highest order... not only set in a school but seemingly written by school kids, not very bright school kids at that.... It's not anarchic or controversial, it's just awful. The script is that bad that they can't even make obvious things like toilet humour work, Pam Ferris gets lumbered with the dated "Frumpy Lesbian Teacher" role, although it's unfair to pick on her character as all the characters are badly written clichés, even a cameo from Rik and Ade couldn't make it funny, their comic ability just about raising a smirk before being dragged back down by the awful script!

People thought "The Producers" was funny, as well as Monty Python's Nazi Boarders sketch. So why wouldn't people think "Heil Honey I'm Home" might work out as a comedy?

I absolutely love Mrs Brown's Boys, although I think the post-COVID Christmas episodes have far fallen short of all the others and maybe it's now time for Brendan O'Carroll & Co to hang up their hats. The first time I ever saw Mrs Brown's Boys, I was just in hysterical laughter from start to finish. For me, there is much more than just humour in Mrs Brown's Boys in that I find the storylines to be interwoven and complex and I like the acting. Great characterisation too and some wonderful off the cuff adlibs. For me it incorporates many different styles of humour in one bag.

To tell the truth I don't mind Mrs. Brown's Boys and kinda like it, sure it's not comedic for most people but it has a charm for those who has a family like the Browns also sometimes we need some comedy that can be seen as lowbrow as a way to unwind from the stress of the world which can be said for some of the other comedies on this list.

I remember a comedy (I don't remember the name) about two competing antique dealers. Although they didn't particularly like each other, the daughter of one was married to the son of the other. In one episode, the two take a flight to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada to visit their recently-emigrated children. They take a taxi when they arrive in Vancouver, and the cab driver was speaking with a poorly spoken New York accent. I was stunned. That accent is not spoken anywhere in Canada, nor in the western US. It would be like a character in Glasgow speaking cockney.
